MSI GT628 Touchpad - Scrolling

Hi all,
I just recently got my MSI GT628 gaming notebook and the right side of the touchpad which is supposed to be the scrollbar isn't working.
Any idea what kind of driver I should install? Just tried the Synaptics one but it seems that it can't detect the more advanced functions. Any form of help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do a Google Search for the driver below.
Some have mentioned this driver works well, you can research it. fsp_8332_all_whql.rar
I concentrated on comments related to a A6000 laptop, but i noticed the driver was used by many with different machines that have the same touchpad.
Below is a copy of some comments on the web about the touchpad.
For those of you noticing how crappy the touchpad is: Google this file "fsp_8332_all_whql.rar" It is the missing driver. It's not as good as a Synaptics driver/pad but it's servicable. You touch and hold a corner to scroll. It's in the mouse driver in control panel after the reboot. - thanks joe221

MSI GT628(-455NL) new memory, doesn't boot

Hi there,
I have a MSI GT628 Gaming Notebook, and 2 days ago I decided to upgrade the RAM modules, because I need more memory for school (need to run multiple virtual machines at the same time on my laptop).
The stock memory is 4GB = 2x2GB Samsung SO-DIMMs, DDR3 PC3-8500 running at 1333MHz and 1,5V (also confirmed with CPU-Z)
2 days ago I bought 2 new SO-DIMMs, 2x8GB Kingston ValueRAM DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz 1,5V (CL11)
Normally if you buy faster memory in the same class it should crank it down to 1333MHz and msot of the tiem work normally, but I can't boot up my laptop with this new memory.
When I start my laptop, you hear the fan blowing for a second, then it stays on black screen with only the pwoer light on and scroll-lock light.
I've tested both 8GB modules oen by one seperately, on both slots. With only 1 of them installed it's the same. With the second one seperately it's also the same, and also tested on the other memory slot.
It keeps booting into black screen.
When I put the old stock memory back in, it works instantly, so the sltos are fully working.
With 1 of the old sticks and 1 of the 8GB, it also doesn't work. Same result.
I've reset my BIOS to factory defaults (via the BIOS menu) with the stock modules in, turned my laptop off, and put in the new RAM. Still the same result.
Does anyone have an idea what's wrong?
Can't my laptop run PC12800 modules and should I really buy PC-8500 ?
Maybe a BIOS jumper reset/CMOS battery reset would do the trick?

I have a windows 7 - 64 bit operating system on a Lenovo G510
I have installed Touchpad driver for windows 7 from Lenovo site but i found very annoying problem which is the touchpad scrolling function not working .....

Welcome to the Forums.
If you have a Synaptics Touchpad, can you check if you have a One Finger / Two Finger Scrolling feature under Mouse Properties.

I can't use touchpad scrolling in webpage tabs when a PDF tab is open in Firefox 4

When using Firefox 4, if I have a PDF open in a tab (using the Adobe Reader 9 plugin, whatever the latest update was), I can't use my touchpad scroll in other tabs until I close the PDF tab. I can scroll fine in the PDF tab. This is on a HP laptop, the touchpad is made by Synaptics. Did not notice this problem in Firefox 3.6.

If you have this problem, please comment on the bug with your OS version (Windows 7 64-bit, for example, or Windows XP, 32-bit) and who makes your touchpad (Device Manager -> Mice -> "Touchpad Maker" Touchpad).

When a PDF is opened in a tab, my laptop's touchpad scroll stops working for other tabs. (But works perfectly fine on the pdf tab or with every tab after closing the pdf tab)

My touchpad scroll was not working many times after i installed firefox 6. But it works perfectly fine in other browsers at the same time.
After some playing around, i found that this problem occurs only when a pdf is open in some tab (The scrolling works in pdf's tab but not in other tabs). Once that particular tab is closed, the scrolling starts working properly.

Using similar scroll function on my netbook. To add to the above, I find that using scroll is actually causing the PDF to scroll rather than the tab I'm actually in.
Reader 9 is installed on my Win7 Starter.

Why doesn't FireFox support touchpad scrolling of pages. This is very annoying!!

Glaring shortcoming in ease of use in not supporting ALPS touchpad scrolling on a laptop computer w/ Windows 7.

What you say works for me on Windows but not on mac. On windows, firefox plays h.264 encoded html5 videos using system's inbuilt decoders. But same does not seem to be true for mac?
More details:
- Tried this on mac 10.7.4 and 10.8.4, firefox version: 22
- Both give a warning message in error console: "Content-type" of "video/mp4" is not supported.
- Exactly same content type works on FF on Windows

NB100 touchpad scroll bar stops working after exit full screen mode youtube

I have few Toshiba laptops, satellite, and now netbook100.
All of them share one problem, touchpad scroll bar:
It will stop working after exit full screen mode in youtube.
Here is how to reproduce the incident:
1. using any mainstream browser, start playing a youtube video, click full screen button at the bottom right corner of the video.
2. click on the [cross] to exit the full screen mode. (next to full screen button.)
3. check if you scroll bar still functioning.
4. a reboot will restore the function.
Currently, Im on vista, I believe in XP you will have the same problem.
Searching in google (touchpad scroll bar stops full screen youtube) will return more people share the same question but no answer.
Environments: win xp all, win vista all.
Windows all most updated driver, touch pad driver up to date.
This is not a major tech problem but for a netbook, this is very annoying.
If anyone have this problem or answers, please share it here.

I had the exact same problem on my laptop and after a lot of searching, I finally found the simplest solution that really works for me so here goes:
Once you exit the full screen video and the scroll pad has stopped working, click once anywhere on the youtube page(just to unfocus from the video) and press the spacebar button on your keyboard twice.
Et voila, your scroll pad should be working again. Beats the hassle of having to log off everytime.

As I mentioned in the title, the touchpad scroll doesn't work or affect visual studio community. The scrolling works very well with other software but it doesn't with visual studio community. This same button worked with VS 2010, VS 2012 (It stopped sometimes
but still functioning correctly most of the time), and stopped with 2013 versions. Why?

Scroll button on what? Are you using a mouse with a scroll wheel, or is this a laptop touch pad?

TouchPad scrolling on the latest VMWare Workstation

It's been 8 years since I tried to make scrolling work in VMWare workstation! (Since 2004).
AND it's still not implemented !!
in VirtualBox it works just perfectly, why don't you guys just rip some code off VirtualBox?

there are lotsa threads with a similar problem.
I believe this problem should have VERY high priority due very high percentage of users just moving to VirtualBox from VMWare.

G50-70 touchpad/scroll?

I have some issues with touchpad scroll option, like there`s no one finger scroll option as most laptops have it, latest drivers TouchPad Driver (Elan, Synaptics) 17.0.14.74/11.4.31.1 are installed on windows 7 x64 with no errors and works ok .. but, it confuses me when I looked:

I'm having the same problem.
Every once in a while, my touchpad just goes crazy. I've had the laptop for 3 months and it's been doing it since the first day. I haven't had a chance to send it in to have service techs look at it yet because I need it for school, but it's really starting to become a problem.
When the erratic movement starts, I can touch the pad to try to move the pointer to a certain location, but the pointer just goes crazy. And it usually ends up zooming in on whatever program/website I am using.
Reinstalling the touchpad driver did nothing to help the problem. In fact, as I just tried to move my pointer to "Post," it happened again!

Yoga ThinkPad Touchpad Scrolling Issue after Windows 10 Upgrade

Yoga ThinkPad upgrade to Windows 10. My horizontal area at the bottom of the Touchpad scrolls the screen up and down, and the right vertical area of the Touchpad scrolls the screen left to right. The reverse direction choices only reverse up/down or left/right and not how the horizontal/vertical areas operate. Did anyone else experience this? Thanks.

hello guys, I'm having the issue with my msi gt628 that I'm unable to enable virtualization in the bios. I updated the bios, but the updated version does not have any extra options and I need to be able to vitualize windows server 2008 x64 for school. Is there a better bios available or will I have to buy a new system?

I understand that your TouchPad is not working correctly since you upgraded to Windows 10.  I did some research and came up with a couple different documents that may help you with the TouchPad.
1. HP Notebook PCs - Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)). 2. Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8): You can customize and adjust how you scroll using one finger or two fingers and how the TouchPad or ClickPad responds to gestures near the edge. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10. The Windows 10 drivers will become available on the HP Drivers and Downloads Page for your product as they become available to HP. There are some drivers available there currently.
