MSI GT70 0ND-444US Battery Issue

I have the GT70 0ND-444US, I want to use it for school more than my Alienware 13, the thing is, the Alienware 13 runs on a external battery because it lasts 4 Hours on the internal battery, I want to do the same, I have a 32,000MAH External Battery, I set it to 20V and plugged it into the MSI and it refused to charge the MSI or at least have it to "Plugged In, Not charging" The External battery's 20V indicator just started flashing and I had to turn the battery off and on and it still did the same thing, as for the Alienware it doesnt charge from the external battery but it runs off the external battery just fine. Is there any bigger battery I can possibly put in my MSI to make it last 6 hours or something? Or any tweaks for the external battery to work on the GT70?

Do you have any picture of your external battery?
I didn't know there's any external batter for laptops such as GT70 this heavy machine.
I remember GT70 uses 19.5V, 9.2A of DC.
So if your external battery can't provide enough power, it won't charge.
The safest way is to buy another GT70 battery...

Hold your mouse over the download tab and it will let you go to other sections like BIOS and Utility.

  • MSI GT70 0ND-444US CPU and GPU upgrade

So I have had the GT70 0ND-444US for almost 2 years now, It's an amazing laptop - the only issue is, the GPU is getting outdated and slow for today's games and I was wondering what are my options for upgrading to a new GPU like the GTX 770M? or the GTX 970M? Would cooling be a problem? Also what are my options of upgrading the i7-3630QM to something better?

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/the-official-msi-gt60-70-970m-980m-upgrade-thread.765058/
    Get the 970m.
I would upgrade to either a 3740qm or 3840qm.  They have a few unlocked turbo bins and you'll get phenomenal performance from those chips.
You can upgrade an extreme mobile CPU (3920xm or 3940xm) but they are more expensive usually and also run hotter than the previous mentioned quads.

  • MSI GT70 0ND-444US dreaded GPU issues

Hello guys, so i've had my 0ND-444US for about two years now and within the last 6 months i've been getting BSODs (GRAPHICS_DRIVER_TDR_FAULT) when trying to game (nvidia 675m). I've formatted windows, re-pasted gpu heatsink, and tried different drivers with the same result everytime. I've done some research and it sounds like these should've been recalled by MSI as a lot of people have this issue.
My question really is...What are my options? Do I take a $300-$400 gamble on a GPU upgrade? Do I try to repurchase the same junk 675m card?
Here are a couple of my dmp files:

Thank you for the recommendation for the 680m, I'll start looking into what it costs.
Can my 1762 easily upgrade to the 680m?
There shouldn't be a problem, As long as it's an MSI card. That's usually the 'tough' part. Many people buy the ones that claim they are "MSI/DELL/CLEVO", but they aren't always 100% compatible then. If you truly want it to work, and work well, I'd look into verifying without a shadow of a doubt that it is an MSI based card.

  • MSI GT70 0ND-490NE

Hi! Is adapter 957-16F21P-101 (19,5V, 9,2A output) Compatible with my msi gt70 0ND-490NE (Battery says output range 19V 9,5A, old adapter had 19V, 9,5A). Im currently running on battery. Could the new adapter harm my laptop?

There's actually 2 places for the memory. 2 sticks are right under the keyboard, 2 sticks are on the bottom accessible by removing the bottom plastic panel.
My GT70 came with 12 GB (4GB x 3). 2 sticks were under the keyboard, 1 stick was on the bottom. I added another on the bottom for 16 GB.
Anyway, all that aside, if you have questions on disassembling the GT70, go to the following guide, it's very accurate:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/uploads/156/MS-1762_Disassembly_guide.pdf
That should be able to help you with removing the memory sticks.
If I was in your shoes, I'd consider just buying all new memory. It will probably cost more for you to RMA the memory or laptop (in shipping it to wherever it would need to go) than to just purchase some new memory.
    Thanks for help
I just removed the Ram on DIMM slot 3 and now im working with 24GB ram without any problems

[ ERROR: SPECIFIED ATTACHMENT MISSING ] [ ERROR: SPECIFIED ATTACHMENT MISSING ] Hi
I sent a picture of the advance tab on my bios and also sent a screen shot of my device manager. i did update bios with the latest one MSI had on the web site.but unfortunately i don't have any of those option you mentioned.but i had the same issue with the original card which was GTX675M. optimus wasn't working with the original either. but like i mentioned before the program called lucid virtual mvp ( http://lucidlogix.com/support/download/ )did force it to turn on.. may be my motherboard is faulty ?
Thank you so much for your help
oh hold on for sec yours is gt70 right? well that explains why your laptop dont have optimus so then bios do not have primary display feature as well so you would have to enable or disable nvidia one manualy i think look on your laptop chassi for any discrete shortcut button could be touch button or anything like that.
I went through manual file for your model and nope it didnt have gpu switch button either :/ so i'm clueless about problem then either i'm guessing that since you installed 980M it has began to not function correctely since your model dont support it :/ but that wont prevent it from detecting it and appear in windows but other features like auto switch would stop working and so on since bios is regonizing your gpu isnt compatible for it or something thats what i'm guessing :/ but it can be completely something else thats causing this problem, so i'm gona let some 1 else on forum answer you on this.

  • MSI GT70 0ND BIOS unlock request for intel vt-x virtualization

Hi, I'd like to request an unlocked bios for an MSI GT70 0ND.
I'm trying to enable intel VT-X virtualization, so I tried the official bioses as indicated here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158790.0
However neither of the windows 7 64bit bioses seemed to change anything, although the 30U version reactivated the raid settings which I had set to ahci.
I should also mention that the guide for flashing the bios on the official page indicated that after flashing the bios and waiting 15 seconds with no power and battery out, that there would be a screen saying 'CMOS Checksum Bad' but this didn't happen. It simply turned off again really quick, and restarted with seemingly the exact same bios. However I know it did something because with the 30U version the raid options were re-enabled.
Looking furthur I found this thread: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=160434.0
Indicating that I should request an unlocked bios.
I've already sent svet a donation. The confirmation is : 83957137919249941
Svet, Can you please make for me a custom bios with as many things enabled as possible including Intel VT-X?

  • MSI GT70 0ND-622AU - Accessing BIOS/Finding Windows Product Key

    Hi,
Looking for answers to the following questions on my MSI GT70 0ND-622AU please.
    1. How do I access the BIOS? There's no "Press blah for setup" prompt when powering on. Only an MSI screen.
    2. How can I locate my Windows 8 Product Key. There's no stickers on these laptops including under the battery. I'd like to install an SSD as the primary drive and assume I'll be needing it to install the OS.
    Thanking you in advance

Quote from: Warner (MSI Tech) on https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=163370.msg1197589#msg1197589
Per Microsoft's new rules, the key must be embedded inside of BIOS, which will only activate with matching edition.
You can use http://rweverything.com/ to check your ACPI -> MSDM to find out what your key is.
However, if you still cannot activate your OS then you will need use recovery DVDs to restore the OS back to the stock one.

  • Need advices on MSI GT70 0ND-612AU

    Hello everyone,
I'm from Australia and was planning to get a MSI GT70 0ND-612AU laptop recently. I'm planning to do some minor upgrade at starts but not sure how hard will it be to get this done, the following will be some of my concern (I'm not an IT person so the following description or terms that i used could be wrong), please advice
    1. Add mSATA 120GB SSD as a primary drive and the stock HDD (1TB 5400rpm) as secondary: From what i heard was the OS (windows 8) does not comes with the system in hardcopy (Disc) as it has already installed on the original HDD along with the recovery partition. How am i suppose to install the Windows on a SSD that i'm gonna add and used as a primary drive? because there might be some issue that i heard such as BSOD / bugs or errors due to hardware changes / SSD does not perform faster than the stock HDD as it wasn't optimized properly / Adaptor board missing ...etc.
Preferred fresh install as i heard migration potentially cause errors.
P.S. Any tutorials or external guidance links will be appreciate.
    2. GTX675MX GDDR5 2GB / 4GB VRAM confusion: I've seen a lot different MSI model (inc UK / Australia) and from different online stores' description some stated the same graphic card model that comes with 2GB VRAM and some with 4GB VRAM. How am i be able to identify the differences? At first i thought 2GB VRAM is only available on GTX675M and 4GB VRAM was on GTX675MX, but i still saw some online specs saying GTX675MX 2GB VRAM.
    3. Applying Arctic Silver 5 or MX on CPU & GPU: Do i need to do this once i bought the laptop or can i use for a year and apply later? Any tutorial on how to apply these on GT70 0ND?
    Thank you for your attention.

That's the assembly guide PDF, that pretty much explains how to take apart the entire notebook. Very helpful.
Make the restore disks. Those will allow you to reinstall the stock software again. Install the SSD, and probably remove the HDD, and then install using the restore disks. It should work just fine.
Well, all I can say is I haven't heard of any migration issues at all so far. I've seen a few people complain, but they didn't really know what they were doing and that's why they had problems.
Honestly, it should say what GPU and how much VRAM it has. 2GB vs 4GB is a moot point to be perfectly honest. This card is similar to a GT650 in the desktop world. 2GB of VRAM is great for those cards. If you want to pay for the 4GB version, by all means go ahead. I just don't believe it will help you at all, and remember, that's just my opinion. It's your laptop, buy what you want.
Hello darkhawk, thank you for your reply again.
Thanks for the PDF, will definitely read that! I'll try do some research on how to create a restore disk then Just wants to make all this clear before i make a move to pick one unit up.
U probably right, migration might not have any issue as you said if done professionally. The reason why i'm worried because i'm pretty much have no idea how this should be done properly lol X-D, i can felt that if i'm gonna do this most likely i will encounter lots of problems lol.
I completely understand what you mean by the GPU. One of the reason that why am i attracted to it is because it's only $3 AUD different (the only different was one that comes with 750GB 7200rpm HDD with 2GB GTX675MX 2GB VRAM ($3 AUD less) and the other one that i'm looking at was 1TB 5400rpm HDD with 4GB VRAM). lol
    Cheers

  • Has anyone successfully installed a gtx680m into a GT70 0ND 444US?

I posted earlier about some problems my pc was having, I think it's the video card so I'm looking to replace it with a gtx680m. All of the searching I've done has only brought me to posts with people having problems using the gtx680m in the GT70 0ND 444US, mostly due to nvidia bsod's. So.. Already done and it didn't change anything but i found a temporary solution : i set the nvidia parameters to start my game with the GTX, the message still appears but next the game is running with the GTX. I didn't try with another game. I hope it will works too.

  • MSI GT70 0ND - Upgrading Video card

Hello! I currently own an MSI GT70 0ND with a gtx 675m gpu in it. Im looking into upgrading it to the 770m which I was told should fit fine. Thats mainly my question here, does anyone know for sure if the 770m will fit properly with the heat sync? The cards are identical aside from the Chip themselves on the board. I'd like to assume all would be well considering the 770m's chip is slightly smaller in width.
Thank you for any information :D

Laptopvideo2go. it's the Place to get video drivers when others fail; all new hardware gets added to the infs instantly when revealed.
    NVIDIA_DEV.11E0 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M" is supported in the latest inf;
    download http://uk.download.nvidia.com/Windows/335.23/335.23-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe
and unzip it into a drawer.
    download modified inf http://laptopvideo2go.com/infs/335series/33523_win8x64/nv_dispi.inf
copy the modified inf into the Display.Driver drawer and then run setup - hope it works. If not, try another driver with a modified inf.
It worked as far as installing, but after rebooting the laptop goes to a blue screen. Looking at the screenshot, does this have MSI bios? Will I have to flash it to MSI?
