MSI GT70 2PE-1231XPL graphic card

Hey guys,
I just upgraded my notebook from windows 7 do windows 8.1
I have big laggs (fps drops) in games, there is a problem with graphic card.
When i opening game the power light changing from white to orange but after few seconds back to white so i think that games using already only integrated graphic card.
How can I fix that? What can I do, please help me.

Anyone can help me?
Maybe i explain more..
I don't know why but some games are working only on integrated graphic card - Steam Games, but League of Legends automatically working fine.
There is a chance to callibrate or something like that? I don't want to manual click to open applications with nvidia gpu.

I don't believe it's possible to change the graphics card on this model as it is integrated into the motherboard.

  • MSI GT70 2PE Low FPS in game

    Hi all,
I just bought a MSI GT70 2PE without OS and installed Windows 8.1 and all drivers downloadable on msi.com.
I'm getting an ultra low FPS in World of Warcraft , a ten years old game !!!!
Watch my joined screenshot. Do i have miss something ? Is it really possible to buy a recent notebook with such bad gaming results ??

Yup that is what I needed, now I know your laptops specs. Seems it runs a GTX 880M which should really have no issues at all running games like world of warcraft. Right, first of all, Did you install all the Chipset drivers and so on from the MSI website and are you using the latest Nvidia Drivers?
As HCH mentioned, make sure you are running the game on the dedicated graphics card. You can check this easily as the power button will be orange if it is using the Nvidia GPU and White if it is using the Intel Intergrated graphics.
Also, make sure you are connected to net power when gaming.

  • MSI GT70 2PE 880m Bus Interface Question

I recently purchased an MSI GT70 2PE with an nvidia 880m gpu
The question i have is should the card be running with a bus interface of x4 at all times?
gpu load when other screenshot was taken:
The above is a screenshot of gpu-z while running its render test
the bus interface always reads x4 3.0 even with games such as planetside 2 running at max settings
I am on the latest nvidia driver and did install the vbios update from msi
From other forums ive gathered it should be running at x8 when idle but should be reaching x16 when running games or stressing the card?
If so is there any way to get it to work correctly?
    Edit:
The only other state i have seen it in is this:
    which is x4 1.1

    Probably GPU-Z isn't up-to-date with 880M; my 680M is recognized as x16.
This is probably it. Even though the 880m is a refresh of 780m and has been out a while. There are still plenty of programs and utilities that don't even identify it or know what it is. I'm sure things will get better.
If you really need/want to know if it is 4x or 16x lanes, then run a game on it with clear documentation of settings for that chip and results on a non multiplayer game. If your laptop isn't running all 16 lanes, then it should run far slower than the rest.

3DMark Fire Strike Extreme score: 3384
    3DMark Fire Strike Ultra score:1262
The excel performance proof the brand new 960 graphics card comes with good a high Cost/Performance Value.
Now, check out this test benchmark score of the renowned game “The Crew”.
The game presents an ultra-quality display, 60 Frames Per Second (FPS)
    FPS: Average frames is at:
    Frames: 3859 - Time: 76828ms - Avg: 50.229 - Min: 43 - Max: 56
The comments of the game for your reference:
There are many types of missions that can be chosen from the America’s map.
Street racing, high-speed collision, breakaway from police, sky jumps, zigzagging, etc… make the game quite dynamic.
Now, when it comes to multi-player matches, the performance has exceeded expectations. Perhaps, it is the killer Ethernet that’s working the magic. Thus, this game is highly recommended if you have the right rig.
The downside is that the display intricacy is not as refined as GTA V and in addition, the game FPS is limited at 60 FPS. However, the overall gaming flow and performance is better than good.
The user's comment for using MSI Gaming 5 motherboard and 960 graphics card:
(The following commends are translated from user’s article, does not represent the viewpoint of MSI) ^^
Recently, MSI GTX 960 just launched so the initial price tag is still adjustable.
According to the current product line, it seems like this GPU is going to replace 750Ti. So once all the stocks (750Ti) at the store empties, we are most likely to see a price drop on GTX960.
Once the price hits the sweet spot, it’s time to try out GTX960 SLI’s performance.
The CP value on MSI GTX960 and GAMING 5 MB is pretty high. But the XSplit software that comes with the product is a bit annoying since the authentication steps are divided into 2 parts to go through for using it.
    Enough said, anyways, GAME ON!

NVIDIA 960 card  + GAMING 5 motherboard = best bundle for budget gaming!
it would be nice to see more testing of hardware-demanding games!

  • MSI GT70 2PE-1620 Recovery problems (no F3 recovery)

    Hi,
I'm the proud owner of e new MSI GT70 2PE-1620. But now I have some serious problems restoring Windows 8.1 back on it.
This GT70 has 3 SSD disk, in super RAID 0. For some reason the RAID failed and I to restore the RAID setup again. Which was successful. However my C partition was cleared. Now I have trouble resetting back the GT70 back to the factory setting, because the F3 function during startup does not function. The hidden partition with the MSI recovery files are still there: on the second disk (1 TB disk). I checked using Acronis Disk Manager.
I tried restoring back with a Windows disk (ISO download from the internet), but then I miss all my MSI tools and drivers. I do not have a MSI recovery CD/DVD disk.
Please help me to restore this GT70 back to its factory setting.
Secondly: can somebody tell me what the BIOS settings should be (factory setting) for this GT70. Ex.: should the boottype be UEFI or Legacy?

I've found a share which might be helpful.
    Try this:
    1. Run the command prompt as administrator.
    2. Type "reagentc /info" and press enter to check the recovery image location and you should see it shows 0 as null.
    3. Type "diskpart" and "list disk" to check your drives.
    4. Select the HDD drive where your hidden partition is locate. Type "select disk X" (X is the disk of you HDD)
    5. Type "list partition" to find your hidden partition. (You'll need the partition name for the recovery directory later.
    6. Type "exit" to exit the diskpart, then enter "reagentc /setosimage /path \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk1\partition4\RecoveryImage\ /index 1"
(*Note: 1. The harddisk1 is the drive name of your HDD, where your hidden is locate. 2. partition4 is the partition name of your hidden partition you read from step5.)
After setting up, you can use the windows recovery to do the system restore.
This should be able to help you restore to the factory settings.
*You can only choose the option to restore your whole system, so please backup all your files before doing the restore.
Thanks! I will give this a try. I will you know if this worked. One question before I try this:
Will this help me restore to the SDD disk? The hidden partition with the restore files is on a 1TB disk. Originally drive D: in Windows. The SSD disk should be C:, the boot disk with the OS.
    ** UPDATE:
I booted using a USB HD with recovery Windows files, and open up the cmd window. It tried, but it can not find or recognize the "reagentc" command. What am I missing?

  • MSI GT70 2PE-1616NE (Dominator Pro) - help needed

If I buy MSI GT70 2PE-1616NE laptop, and if I want to clean install Windows 7 into it (it becomes with Windows 8.1 pre-installed), do I have to configure something, why I ask is that this laptop has 256 Gb SSD MSI Super RAID and I assume that it needs some configuring to get it work like it should. It's not like HDD though.

No, you shouldn't need to configure anything except changing some settings in the BIOS (set it to boot in Legacy mode), and I would also ensure that you use the MSI Burn Recovery tools to make a recovery DVD(s) or recovery USB, in case you decide to ever go back to Windows 8.

  • MSI GT70 2PE 1624XNE Dominator Pro

    Hello.
I've been waiting for a MSI GT70 2PE-1616NE, for 4 weeks now. And really need a new laptop, since my old gaming is broke. Then i saw a place that have MSI GT70 2PE 1624XNE Dominator Pro in storage. but it only has one 128gb sd.
Can i put 2 more in it? at raid 0, so i have 384gb on my c: or do i need some ekstra parts beside the ssd storage to do that? or what is posible to do?
Hope someone can help me, really need a new computer.

The mSATA to SATA adapter should be bundled in the unit since you already have one SSD.
If so, then you can add two SSDs on the adapter which already has three mSATA ports.
You can confirm with the local store about the adapter.
If you want to do the self-upgrade, I'll suggest to buy two SSD which is same as the one you already have. Then you'll be able to have a good performance meanwhile prevent the possible compatibility issue. You can also ask MSI service center for the MSI approval list of SSDs. It's recommanded to use the same SSDs.

  • MSI GT70 2PE LOW FPS

My brand  new MSI GT70 2PE DOMINATOR 880M with 8GB of video memory was working just fine, after about 3 weeks of usage, roughly 2 hours a day of Call of duty it started giving me low fps after 10-15 minutes of playing.
These are the following which I have tried to fix the problem:
Changed advanced power settings for maximum performance.
Changed 3D settings for each game individual to have maximum performance in power settings
Changed 3D settings globally to have maximum performance in power settings.
Obviously I have chosen NVIDIA GPU to be used.
When none of these worked, I tampered the void sticker and changed thermal paste, some of the paste was off the GPU and CPU but mostly it was there, so changed it, for both, screwed it back together, and NOTHING HAS CHANGED,
Temperatures before changing the paste and after did not change as well, while playing are around 60 celcious for GPU and CPU, 140 Fahrenheit.
So after 5 minutes of playing with new paste FPS drops again to 10 FPS per sec in COD, and this is the case for every game that I have, total war series, cod series, poe, skyrim, every game.
So does that mean that my GPU is faulty ?
One thing I've remembered; while I had this issue already, I switched off power plug and played on battery i Played total war 2 on strategic map mostly so fps wasn't noticeable there, after power for to about 28% I switched power back in and started playing COD, for 2 hours while it was charging and I was playing FPS was perfect. Next day problem was there again, I tried to do the same, switched it off till it got to 30% switched power back to play in hope that FPS will be normal, but it was never like this agian, same 5FPS problem.
And also during 3 weeks of playing I noticed that my power button was mostly of white color, it was changing sometimes to red but mostly white, right now it is only red, if you guys can help me out, id really appreciate it, really this is most powerful notebook there is, i saved for year to get it and I got this crap, I am very very

So I might have something here, during 10 minutes of play with normal FPS and also while not running anything, 4 cores gave readings:
    0:3692-3791
    1:3592-3692
    2:3592-3692
    3:3592-3692
So not numbers in between, just these 2 figures for each core
While not running anything readings on CPU temperature would change randomly between 48c and 55c every 1/3 of a second on every core, every core had different readings in between these ranges.
After FPS drop readings changed at once to:
    0:3292-3791
    1:3292-3692
    2:3292-3692
    3:3292-3692
CPU clock would change every 1/3 of a second and also ratio would change rapidly 33,36,37
I closed the game, for 20 minutes leaving notebook turned on, readings stayed the same giving "after" fps readings, I tried to launch the game again, there was
    immediate low fps
Consistency of readings on CPU temperature while running the game before and after FPS drop look the same and would change randomly between 54c and 60c every 1/3 of a second on every core, and for every core temperature would be different
I left notebook for 30 minutes, turned off power fan, and temperature would be between 60 and 64 on some cores and 64 and 69 on others, while not running anything..can that mean that I applied new thermo paste incorrectly ?

  • MSI mobos and ATI graphics card incompability!

I don´t know how well known this problem is but I´ve seen it on this forum and when googling the internet you can find it!
The issue is that I can´t get my HD5450(Sapphire) to work on my MS-7267 (945GCM5-F V2) mobo! The screen stays blank but the PC boots up and loads Windows.
The HD5450 works fine on other mobos with different PSU´s ranging from 350 - 600 watts, but when trying different PSU´s on the 945GCM5-F V2 it doesn´t seem to help. I´ve also tried different bios settings, I´ve cleared CMOS, I´ve tried both dvi and vga outputs, I´ve disconnected as much as possible from the mobo except from the graphics card and the PSU, but nothing seems to help!
    Any ideas , someone?
    Tekrar!

    Thanks for all replies!
I had this question on the AMD forum (AMD Game » AMD Technology » Radeon Graphics » MSI mobos and ATI graphics card incompability!) and here are some of the replies:
"Well, its a known issue that older chipsets, like even AMD 580X chipset, doesn't work with 5k/6k series cards without a bios update from the manufacturer of the board.
If its not working / posting / no video ect... You need to bug MSI to update the bios on the board to support the newer 5k/6k video cards. It may or may not happen. Several manufacturers have like Asus, and Gigabyte."
"Same problem. 5450, MSI MS-7267 (945GCM5-F V2). Done the same plus updated msi mainboard bios using msi live update 5 etc. Waiting for reply from makers of graphics card and mainboard.
I should add from what I've read in other threads and forums it seems to be an old mainboard problem not just related to the MSI 945GCM5-F V2. Some other manufacturers of mainboards have sent customers bios upgrades to get their cards working.
As for your pci express version question. Well these problems seem to emerge when people have plugged these pci express version 2.1 cards into their pci express 1st generation slots. What exactly the problem is here? Leave that for manufacturers/experts to answer."
"Tek , its hit or miss on the board + chipset combination on if the card will work or not. Sometimes they will work in old boards, Sometimes they will not w/o manufacturerer support.
Its completely random from what I've seen on the forums at the times they were released , when people with old boards were asking why it wasn't working. And what they did to solve it. Most all of them emailed the manufacturer. Some of those said manufactureres provided beta bios back to the customers, some said your out of luck."
Its true, this MSI MS-7267 (945GCM5-F V2) isn´t a new mobo, but when I get the 5450 to work without problem with an even older fujitsu mobo (last bios update long time ago) and a 350 watts PSU I think something´s wrong.
So, a bios upgrade would probably fix it if the manufacturer (in this case MSI) just wanted to!

  • MSI GT70 2PE DP keyboard software

    Hi there...
When I got the laptop, it was bearly working at all, but after returning it and they changed 4 or 5 things in it, it have been working very smooth:-) However, got it back with win 8, instead of 8.1, not a prob... but, for the keyboard, I only got a MSI Keyboard LED manager installed, and not the steelseries program that let me config whatever key to the function I want... that function was actually one of the reasons why I bought this pc soon a year ago, and need it back... BUt can
t seem to find it on the MSI GT70 2PE DP site or the disk that followed the pc, anyone know where I can get this?

  • Msi gt70 2PE integrated HD 4600 graphics HDMI port does not appear to work.

    Hi guys,
I have the GT70 2PE with integrated hd 4600 graphics and with a dedicated nvidia geforce gtx 880m card. The HDMI output does not appear to work.
I'm tech savvy and cannot figure this out for the life of me. have tried nearly everything.
lets start from the low level troubleshooting done:
    - plugged in the HDMI cable from a working computer that has HDMI hooked up to it. This did not make a difference from the new cable I bought for hooking up my TV to my laptop.
    - booted the laptop up and do not see a duplicate screen outputting via HDMI, all my video cards in my PC's I've built prior have always shown the HDMI output as a duplicate screen when I had a monitor hooked onto a PC. This makes me believe the HDMI port may be disabled/broken as there is no HDMI output at POST. Only the laptop monitor displays output.
In Windows 8.1 I've installed the latest 4600 drivers and nvidia 880m beta drivers.(even though installing nvidia drivers shouldn't matter since I've read the HDMI output is tied to the 4600 integrated graphics chip, also if during POST the HDMI output never showed up on my TV, then installing the latest intel graphics drivers shouldn't have made a difference either, which it didnt make a difference).
I've tried disabling the integrated graphics card then re-enabling it, as noted on the intel forums. - does nothing.
    what I've ruled out:
-HDMI cable issues = no issues due to other PC's and devices working with the cables. All cable tests are direct connect to the TV, no intermediary devices such as hdmi splitters etc.
-BIOS has zero options for graphics card options.
Any ideas before i RMA this laptop? I'm at a loss.
