  • MSI GT70 Dragon Edition Nvidia Video card crash

So I've updated my Nvidia driver to the latest version, but whenever I open a game the graphic starts to lag and then freeze... I also hear weird motor sounds in my headphones while this lags.... I tried to downgrade the Nvidia driver to the one which my model of MSI recommends: I tried both Beta and WHQL Nvidia drivers my model of MSI recommends but that didn't help either. I also witnessed the crash of the Nvidia driver ( a notification appeared that Nvidia driver has stopped working ) which made me totally be sure that this lag and freeze problems aren't the problems of the game nor the the switching of Intel and Nvidia video cards, they switch good. This is the problem of Nvidia video driver, all the versions I tried kept crashing due to the same lags and freezes in any game I try, can anyone help me !?

Check the temps of your gpu with Afterburner (>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<). Try with and without Cooler Boost.

  • Medion Erazer X7825 + GTX870M with MSI GT70 Bios possible ?

    Hi,
I do I get Medion X7825 Erazer with an original bios. I plan an MSI GTX870M 3GB (from a GT60 2PC), along with a full color backlight keyboard to operate in this unit (from a GT70 0ND). For that I would like to use the MSI GT70 2PC Bios and the EC firmware so I can use the SSE. If this is possible without any problems? I know that the power sensor strip has a few other features, but I could also use the sensor bar from GT70 0ND, that would be no problem.
    Bios: http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GT70-2PC-Dominator.html#down-bios&Win8.1%2064
    EC Firmware: http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GT70-2PC-Dominator.html#down-firmware&Win8.1%2064
Furthermore, the BIOS files from MSI are current as of the Medion also by far and the fan control has also been improved significantly.
Actually, this should nevertheless funktioneren perfectly. When I think of the predecessor because, as you could use in the MS-1762 devices of the MSI Medion 51x BIOS to use newer video cards. The devices have been introduced after the Biosflash as MSI GT70 0ND.

SSE is an exclusive program for MSI Gaming Notebook; not for OEM product.

  • MSI GT70 0ND - Upgrading Video card

Hello! I currently own an MSI GT70 0ND with a gtx 675m gpu in it. Im looking into upgrading it to the 770m which I was told should fit fine. Thats mainly my question here, does anyone know for sure if the 770m will fit properly with the heat sync? The cards are identical aside from the Chip themselves on the board. I'd like to assume all would be well considering the 770m's chip is slightly smaller in width.
Thank you for any information :D

Laptopvideo2go. it's the Place to get video drivers when others fail; all new hardware gets added to the infs instantly when revealed.
    NVIDIA_DEV.11E0 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M" is supported in the latest inf;
    download http://uk.download.nvidia.com/Windows/335.23/335.23-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe
and unzip it into a drawer.
    download modified inf http://laptopvideo2go.com/infs/335series/33523_win8x64/nv_dispi.inf
copy the modified inf into the Display.Driver drawer and then run setup - hope it works. If not, try another driver with a modified inf.
It worked as far as installing, but after rebooting the laptop goes to a blue screen. Looking at the screenshot, does this have MSI bios? Will I have to flash it to MSI?

  • MSI GT70 audio (headphone) jack makes weird noise after a few seconds

I recently got my laptop its an MSI GT70, i plugged in my headphones to the correct jack, and the laptop detects it and all is fine, but then when i play something with audio, it starts playing normally for a few seconds then the audio goes to a weird sound, kind of like everything turns to like an echo sound, i have tried multiple things, like changing the default format (the bits and HZ), and every time i do change it, it goes ok for a few seconds and then turns back to the echo-ish sound. i don't think something is wrong with the drivers tough.

i know it' been a while, but i resolved the problem finally, it wasn't anything with the drivers or hardware, i few days ago, i wanted my laptop be loud, but i raised the volume and it wasn't really loud as most laptops, so i checked around my laptop then i went to my icons i clicked sow hidden icons to see what was related to my sound i found thx tru studio pro settings in there, i double clicked it, clicked on speakers and realized they were on low that's why my laptop had low sound, so after i resolved it, i went to settings to see what it had to offerm i saw select your speaker setup, it had headphones, external speakers, and built in speakers, i automatically got my headphones and plugged them in, the thx turned from built in speakers to external speakers, then i listened to something and it was still bad, so i changed it to headphones, and it was perfectly fine after than,    , but i still dont know why it turns to external speakers, i think it has something to do with realtekhd, but it's a start, thanks to everyone for the replies

    .

Compatible videos in iPhoto should show up under the item "iPhoto Videos" near the top of the list in the Events Library. Click on this item to reveal all the clip thumbnails in the Events viewer. Drag clips in the normal way to a project. Note that videos in iPhoto are not accessible in the same manner as photos, which you drag from the Photo panel in iMovie.
As your Canon G11 shoots in H.264 format (in a .mov container), the clips should import directly to iMovie without the need to import first to iPhoto. I'm assuming you are using iMovie '11 (or possibly iMovie '09).

  • MSI GT70 2PC-1044US - HDMI / GPU / FAN issues

    MSI GT70 2PC-1044US - HDMI / GPU / FAN issues
I am having trouble with my HDMI port on a brand new MSI GT70 2PC-1044US . Whenever I plug my HDMI cable from my notebook to the TV, after a few minutes (5 - 20 minutes), my fan will start reving at around 5k RPMs and sounds like a jet engine. When this happens, according to MSI Dragon Gaming Center tool/monitor, the GPU temp reading hits 255 degrees Celsius, which is clearly a glitch. I used another monitor, msi afterburner, and when this HDMI problem happens, this tool reads a normal 40 degrees Celsius.
Here are the things I have tried so far but the problem keeps reoccurring:
    1. Called MSI tech support, sent me the link to the newest BIOS and updated it
    2. Called MSI tech support again, claimed the HDMI is controlled by the intel graphic controller, and they recommended that i update intel drivers (every software tool on my notebook says it's the NVIDIA GPU that controls the HDMI port /shrug???), so i did this as well.
    3. Called MSI teck support again, they suggested I send the notebook back to MSI so they could take a look at the hardware. I did not do this because I did not trust the tech guy and did not want to wait a few weeks to get my notebook back
    4. Luckily, the store I bought my notebook at was nice enough to replace my notebook for a new one. I got home, tested it, and the same thing happened. So I think we eliminated faulty hardware.
So now what? What else can I try?

have you done EC reset? https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/how-to-reset-the-ec-embedded-controller
can you try to plug the HDMI into your dell screen[insteal of sharp TV] to check if the same issue will hapends?
Install latest Intel GPU drivers from: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics
    then retest
-Yes, I did the full EC reset. Once the EC flash was done, I removed the power cord from the back and the battery and let it sit for a few minutes before restarting.
    - My Dell monitor is old, and does not have an HDMI port, but I will try a different cable on a different TV.
-I already have the most recent intel graphic controller drivers, this one of the things the MSI tech support guys asked me to do by phone

  • MSI GT70 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Error

Having trouble using the Intel USB 3.0 on the MSI GT70 when using it with my Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle.
The Intensity Shuttle does work properly on my current EVGA X58 system.
When initializing the video on the Intensity Shuttle it blinks a few times and then the driver fails and can't reconnect.  I made a short video that will sum it all up.
I've also spent hours updating to current MSI, Intel, Blackmagic, and Windows drivers.
Long story short... "It doesn't just work."
In case the link doesn't work please search youtube for "MSI GT70 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Error" and you'll find it.
Any help would be great!  Thanks!  ~J

Asked the guys at Blackmagic Design if they would be updating the driver to work with Intel 3.0 hubs and the new chipsets,  this is their reply.
"We make the Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 and software for it. The USB 3.0
solutions that are available, like the Intel USB 3.0 hubs would not
necessarily be made by a software implementation.
The issues can either be hardware or driver specific. If the Intensity
Shuttle on the MSI GT70 is not working, you can check the manufacture for
any software updates that they may have or make available."
So I'm guessing that they won't be updating their drivers specifically...
Could you please send me the "renesas usb 3.0 driver" that worked for your setup..?
Thanks a bunch for all the help!  ~J

I will be doing full review, and I have hundreds of Screen shots of every benchmark done by my Asus G750 JM, JS, JZ, and finaly my MSI GT70. I will be putting together a slide show video with a nice comparison between all these notebooks.

Welcome to the MSI club buddy! ....there have been quite a number or threads about inconsistent/low frame rates. I too own an MSI GT60 with GTX870M and seeing inconsistent frame rates. Hope some vbios update fixes this

  • MSI GT70 Dominator Pro Inconsistent Frames

I have MSI GT70 Dominator Pro and I noticed that there has been slight decrease in game performance after playing the game for 7-8 hours. I am currently playing Tomb Raider 2013 and before I started playing the game I did a overall performance test of my laptop with a built in benchmark.
    My Specs:
    Intel Core I7-4800mq
    Nividia Geforece GTX 880M 8GB
    1920*1080 LCD 17.3 inch Screen
    16 GB Memory
    1TB 7200RPM-128GB SSD
Initial Benchmark before playing the game.
Tomb Raider (2013) on Ultimate setting (Tressfx on)
    Min-34
    Max-68.0
    Avg-49.1
Post Benchmark after playing for 7-8 hours
Tomb Raider (2013) on Ultimate setting (Tressfx on)
    Min-28.2
    Max-58.0
    Avg-40.7
Note: GPU and CPU same temperature on both initial benchmark and post benchmark. GPU (max-76C) and CPU (Max (55C). Same background programs and same video card drivers and same game version. I would like to know why there has been decrease in performance even though the factors are the same.

  • MSI GT70 dominator pro 890 For workstation

Ive posted this on the 'workstation' section, as it would fit better there, but my laptop is technically the gaming. So, yes it is a double post one in each forum.
Wanted to know if my laptop was good for rendering, if there were any tips or tricks for using my laptop for video editing, or any tips or tricks for using vegas pro 13 in general. Newbie to this program, normally use cyberlink powerdirector 12.
     MSI GT70 Dominator Pro 890
     i7 4810mq (4900)
     32gb ram
     3x 480gb crucial m500 msata (non raid - 1 OS - 1 media source - 1 scratch disk)
     1tb Samsung evo 840 2.5" (partitioned 50/50 split - 1 Media export - 1 Regular data)
     Gtx 880m 8gb gddr5
     bluray burner
Thermal paste was repasted with antech diamond 7
     normal 17" tn 1080p panel
Question of the rendering process. If I have gpu accelerated turned on in normal preferences, but render using cpu only in the actual final render as options screen,, my 15 min movie takes about 22 min. Temps skyrocket cpu wise for first 5 seconds then calm to 90c (80c with turbo fan), gpu gets to 70c (60c with turbo fan). CPU is around 80% resourced, gpu core max, memory clock max, gpu load 15%.
But if I have same gpu acceleration on main preferences, and change to gpu rendering only under the actual final rendering as options, it takes 28 min, cpu is at 68% (80c max fan), gpu core and memory max, gpu load up from 15% to 30%, memory controller up from 3% to 11% (65c temps).
So what I see is that gpu rendering preferred options but render cpu only, uses some gpu but more cpu, and gives faster results, than total gpu rendering with more gpu power and less cpu.
Shouldn't gpu rendering be far quicker than cpu? I know my cpu is good, but thought that the 880m would definitely beat it out in rendering.

Normally I would like to say this is very good choice, but since MSI have real workstation, I recommend you check below link to find the real machine for OpenGL graphics works!!
    http://www.msi.com/product/workstation/#?category=GT Series&category_no=1151
Yup, great recommendation, and also what I thought and spent about 2 weeks researching before not buying. The most often supplied k2000m chip is crap. What it does for professional programs could be compared to the gtx 755m. The k3000 gpu is a decent mid range chip, but the k3000m is a low end. I'd compare it to the gtx 765m for gaming. Only real benefit would be specific drivers. The k4000m is the equivalent of the 870m but for professional. But isn't offered until you hit the $3000 mark. Reading so many reviews and watching several youtube videos showing side by side geoforce vs quaddro, and some programs like photoshop and vegas pro are actually rendered quicker on the geoforce. While Autodesk and maya were within a min of each other.
I know you probably saw this chart
I saw it to, which in the very beginning of my laptop search I thought I had found the perfect laptop. But after reading user forums, talking to/with people first hand, then watching some you tube showing side by side 780m vs 3100m rendering. I decided that until I could get the 4100m at a decent price, the 880m would suite me well.
The 'workstation' laptops are also 4700mq not the 4800-4810mq.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGP0ga6salw
    Heres one of photoshop comparison
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryf4b6BMjNk
heres a 2 year old maya comparison. While this one is a little off. I found one a few weeks ago that was perfect and I really should've short cutted it. But for maya and solid works, the geoforce is either right behind or right ahead for speed. But when it comes to quality, the quaddro's cant be touched.
When I use solidworks/maya for a project, normally its just something really quick. In which 100% detail isn't important, but speed is. If/when I need a perfect product, that's what the pc is for. My major projects even on a k4100m (the best mobile chip) it would take countless hours to render. My pc, dual titan black, would take 30-60 min. So I  could use laptop to start and work with project, the 880m does a great job at in project editing acceleration, then i save file/settings export. Load on pc, make sure everythings still good, and render on there. But typical large projects are better done on high dpi mouse, mechanical keyboard, and larger monitors.
I'm not slamming you at all. Thanks for the comment, typically you'd be 100% correct. And if i didn't have a full out rendering pc, that would be my only option. Plus, i hope you or anyone reading this learned a little something. Or if im wrong somewhere, i can be corrected and learn something.

  • MSI GT70 2PC Dominator Battleship – EpisodeⅠ

    [Introduction]
[Roberts  are the dream of every man] one of my close fellows said. Actually, I am not a 3C fans. But it is really excited that Titan Fall is online now. So I made a tough decision that I never did it before. I purchased the [MSI GT70  2PC Dominator] with last year bounds.
    [Open box article]
Finally, the shipment is coming today. It is true that now is one of my happiest moment in life. I put down all my work and start to share my new toy for everyone.
    Note:
It is sad that I only have a phone next to me. Please forgive me those non-quality and non-professional pictures in article.
That is cool that we can find a big case with MSI log and an extra backpack in package.
There is MSI log on the top of box. Furthermore, I must said the Dragon log is so fashion and beautiful. That is a nice backpack which we can carry it outside anytime.
There is an extra soft layer behind the backpack. It improves the comfortable and air permeability  for user.
In my own opinion, I like this kind of design.
Let’s check what surprise us in box.
We could see the label of GT70 2PC spec on the side of box.
MSI really provide the multi-protection for their products. There are two more cases inside.
We can find MSI gaming mouse/ SteelSeries SIBERIA V2 gaming headphone in box. Besides, there is a small and special box which has MSI Log. We will check it later.
All right. I think we can throw away the empty box now.
Wait a minute!!! The box is still so heavy. It must be something else that we didn’t take out.
Oh well, I see. There is a warranty service book and driver CD in the right side.
Also, battery and adapter are behind the cover.
    Let’s take a family picture.
    We have quick guide/MSI rromotional materials/manual for F3 recovery/driver CD for Win8.1/Warranty service book/ Windows 8.1 guide
Oh my god. There is a signet in that special box. Dragoon postmark is so elegant.
    SteelSeries  SIBERIA V2 Full-Size headset.
Furthermore, it supports 4 different languages. You can find the spec on its box.
Wow. MSI log is on the headphone. Totally, It is customized for MSI brand!!!
Another dragon army log on headphone.
MSI didn’t forget the inside of headphone. A beautiful shield is on it.
SteelSeries also promote this headphone on its website. It is so popular.
    http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-siberia-v2
Now, let’s show SteelSeries KINZU V2 mouse.
Mouse supports 4 different languages, too. We also can find the spec on box.
However, there is no driver CD in box…LOL. How do I use it? We only can find the cute mouse and manual.
Sorry, my bad. We can download the driver and firmware from SteelSeries official website.
    http://steelseries.com/products/mice/steelseries-kinzu-v2
Of course, there is a powerful dragon on mouse pad.
    Take a mouse family picture.
180W adapter is just like a big strong brick. It is designed by most famous industry DELTA. You can find all kinds of safety signatures on it. It is powerful and undefeatable on playing game.  But please understand that I didn’t suggest dear readers to use it as a weapon to throw/hurt people!!!
The battery is 7800mAh. And you can see all kinds of safety signatures on it.
Finally, our rock star is coming.
The laptop is surrounding by a lot of soft foams.
Huge dragon shield log on it.
Take off the black jacket. Then, we can see a nonwoven fabric inside the plastic bag.
    Game start!!
This universe battle cruiser will help me dominate all my enemies in game .
We can find the security lack/power jack/ RJ45 port/D-SUB/m-DP/HDMI in back. The sales man said it can also support three external displays at same time. I must try the solution by myself when I get my new screens.
On the left side, there are USB3.0 port/Card Reader/HiFi headphone port (According to the spec, it will increase 30% audio performance). I can’t wait to listen my favorite music with it.
I didn’t forget my lovely BD. It also has BD reader/writer and 2 USB2.0 on the right side.
I can’t stop myself to take another wonderful photo with the MSI logo and upper case.
I have a feeling that my dominator is ready fight.
There is a [SteelSeries] LOGO on the  left side. What a surprise it is. YA! We have SteelSeries keyboard on GT70. Absolutely, this is a gamer dream. Best Keyboard vendor SteelSeries and Top Gaming NB brand MSI are working together! It is totally worth for me.
DYNAUDIO, the leader of audio industry. As you know, BUGATTI’s sport cars use the DYNAUDIO. And  MSI is the first notebook in world with this sound of Danish pride.
    HA!HA!
I’m listening the best sound as rich people sitting in their sport cars. It feels great.
    http://www.dynaudio.com/int/multimedia_sound/index.php
There are many thoughtful buttons on middle cover.  (Power/Airplane mode/display on&off/Gaming button/Caps Luck/Num lock).
More convenience buttons, media/turbo fan/backlight LED.
We also have Bluetooth/WLAN/battery/sleep/disk indicators in front of laptop.
Here is GT70 spec and signatures form Sound Blaster CINEMA / nVIDIA /Intel.
An independent On/Off switch for touch pad.
Built-in Camera and Mic on the display.
You can see the thermal design and the battery when we check the back side.
The silver part is our bass. Just like the cannon on our battleship.
    What is under the battery?
The left side is the safety signatures for GT70 and its WLAN.
The right side is Win8 LOGO and serial number.
Now we know my baby is born on February.
    [Power on]
Gee!the Log is shining when the system is. power on .
The keyboard is just like the most beautiful rainbow that I’ve never seen. It is stunning. Honestly, my cheerful tear is dropping.
    Anyway, Titanfall, I’m coming.
What? Something pops up when I attach the network.
    What is [Killer Network Manager]?
Wow. Now I know that Killer high-performance networking products combine intelligence, control and superior networking speed for HD video, high quality audio, and online games. That’s great. I hate the evil [LAG] in game.
    https://www.qca.qualcomm.com/products/killer-technology/
After the quick test, it is time to install my game.
I find a secret app in the tray of task bar during the game installation.
YA! That is SSE (Steelseries Engine). I can set my own hotkey, backlight LED and combo key with this good friend.
SSE is a smart app. It recognized my GT70 and my mouse immediately when I launch the app.
Sorry again. I was wrong because I don’t need a mouse driver. The SSE can control all of the actions. It is so sweet.
It is the time to say goodbye. Titanfall is calling. See you on battlefield!!!

  • Adding mSATA/mSSd to a MSI GT70 2OD-407US

    Hi,
I'm a new owner of an MSI GT70 (wife finally let me buy one). I'm not at all new to modding computers of varies calipers. I honestly haven't been in the game in 3 years and coming back up the ladder because the technology has changed. I've kinda been in a geeks purgatory(married and in the ARMY), so life's been really busy for me and has not allowed me to keep up with current tech.
My Question. Modding my GT70 2OD-497US:
MAXing RAM to 16GBs, Easy. that's a no brainer.
where I need help is adding mSata/mSSD to my MSI to use it as a boot drive for the Window 7 Home Premium it comes with.. Thinking about add 128/256GB as boot and recovery as well as other important files and using the 1 TB 7200RPM HDD as pure storage to run programs, videos, movies, and music off of. (I'm not a big gamer)
I have not received my MSI yet and won't touch it for another month or so. I have plenty of time to figure it out. This question been raking my brain for a week, so that's why I'm post for some help.
Any information no matter if you're "talking above my head or not" is highly appreciative. If I think I don't know what you're talking about I will ask questions and do tons of research.. I used to be at the top of the GEEK food chain, but starting at the bottom now. I don't mind admitting that. The Army and marriage takes a lot of my time.
Add-on to message: I do not know if the GT70 2OD-407US comes with the msata slot board, it should, but can't seem to verify. If not I can buy one.

So lets back this up with a number of facts.
I can't find any information about the GT70 2OD-497US so....
Does the notebook come with an SSD?
If it does, then you will have the "Super Raid" adapter that lets you put mSATA drives into the laptop.
If it does NOT, then you will NOT have the "Super Raid" adapter, and you will not be able to put mSATA drives into the laptop.....without attaining a Super Raid adapter. This is difficult. MSI will NOT sell them. If you are LUCKY, you might be able to talk to a distributor or company that offers customized MSI notebooks into selling you just the adapter, but I'm not sure they will. If they will not, you're pretty much SoL. Supposedly there was a chinese company selling the adapters, but I don't recall the name or if they still are.
In all honesty, if you don't have the adapter, I would just order a regular 2.5" SSD drive instead and live with it.
A couple of other things I can suggest.
Get at a minimum a 240/256GB SSD. You'll find that after installing Windows and such you only have roughly 75 gigs maybe left on your 128GB SSD. And I just don't think that's enough. The 240/256GB drives are cheap enough now that you shouldn't have any problems getting it.
When you partition your SSD, only partition it for about 85% of the total space (so 85% of 256GB = 215 GB). Leave the rest of it unpartitioned. This is called over-provisioning, and will help to maintain the overall speed of the SSD (read/write speed) during the entire life of the SSD. The reason it does this is because it provides more space for TRIM to work, even if you completely fill the partition you created. If you had fully partitioned the drive, and almost filled it, the speed would start to deteriorate because there isn't enough 'space' to do TRIM anymore and it has to work harder to do it, causing your overall read/write speed to decrease. This is especially bad on Samsung drives.  (for more information, go search around on www.anandtech.com, plenty of good information and benchmarks to backup my statements)
Other than those tips, you should be good to go.....BUT!
The VERY FIRST THING YOU DO AFTER LOGGING INTO YOUR NEW NOTEBOOK? Please please please create the backup DVD's! MSI does not provide backup media inside the box. You need to make these on your own using the included MSI Burn Recovery software.

  • MSI GT70 - which ones are required drivers and apps? Which ones are optional?

I have MSI GT70 0ND but I suppose lots of things will overlap with other GT70 even GT60 owners (Windows 8 x64). So which onces are needed and what are they? I will post some that I know, then ask you about the rest:
    http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-0ND.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win8%2064
    DRIVERS
Realtek HD Audio - is this the orange sound icon for additional effects? If Yes, then I will use it
Intel(R) Chipset - main driver, download
Intel N2230 Bluetooth 4.0 - is this the bluetooth driver?
Realtek Card Reader - is this for adding memory cards in the slot, thus the driver for it?
NVIDIA Geforce GT670M/670MX/675M Graphic Card  - best is from Nvidia site, latest
(Beta) NVIDIA Geforce/Quadro Graphic Card - this is for some other video cards, I dont need that right?
Intel HD Graphics Family_Intel Ivy Bridge - now what is this? Does any1 know, so that I decide if I will use it?
Synaptics Touchpad - that's my touchpad
    Intel N2230 Wireless LAN
Qualcomm WLAN Killer N1202+ Bluetooth - Is this like the above case with video graphics, just need to choose 1 of them for Bigfoot killer, or both? Which one should I choose?
Intel Rapid Storage Technology - no idea what this is for and if I need to install it... so what is it?
Intel Management Engine - what is this?
    Camera - it's clear duh
Intel USB 3.0 driver - for my USB 3.0 ports?
Radio Switch - what is this?
Intel RAID - and this? do I need it? I don't do enhancenements with software.. so
    UTILITY
Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Blu-ray patch - so I need this to play BluRay?
    SCM
SCM (Only for Windows 8 upgraded from Windows 7.) - I know this is screen contrl manager but do I really need it? Can't I do - disable.enable wifi, bluetooth etc from Win8 without it? I think I won't use it
NVidia VGA OC - this I would need only if I am to overclock my videocard, right?  (which I won't do). So is my 675MX using the 4GB since total memory when you see specs shows 1664MB and I think it is dedicated?
Keyboard LED Manager - that's for the lights of the keyboard, ofc I would use that
    THX AP
THX EQ - I see it is for the sound but is it something needed, what does it do?
If you could answer about those so that I know which ones I will exclude, would be great

Well, you don't know what SCM is. It's the System Control Manager. It is the most important tool at all. It is required for the system to work properly no hotkey will work without. Even e.g. enabling/disabling WLAN wouldn't work.

Radio Switch - what is this?
Bluetooth won't work in Windows 8 without the Radio Switch. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh450832(v=vs.85).aspx

The Intel lan driver is for the Intel lan, Qualcomm WLAN Killer N1202+ Bluetooth is for the additional Killer NIC.

    Yes you need it, http://www.intel.de/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/rapid-storage-technology.html

Intel Management Engine - what is this?
ME controls Intel hardware, such as chip sets, storage, and other components. There will be an unknown device if you won't install ME.

Intel RAID - and this? do I need it? I don't do enhancenements with software.. so
You need it if your notebook came with the optional Super Raid and before installing Win8.

Intel HD Graphics Family_Intel Ivy Bridge - now what is this? Does any1 know, so that I decide if I will use it?
It's the driver for the cpu's integrated gpu which is used for non-3D applications instead of the GeForce.

NVidia VGA OC - this I would need only if I am to overclock my videocard, right?
This is used to utilize the gpu's boost via the turbo button if using SCM as well. It doesn't allow any manual overclocking.

It adds the advanced THX True Studio Pro to enhance sound.

  • MSI GT70 2PC Dominator USB 3.0 Issues

    Hey folks,
Hopefully somebody can be of assistance, me and my friend both purchased the MSI GT70 2PC a couple of months ago, fantastic laptop by the way. The only issue that both of us have been experiencing is with the USB 3.0 ports.
The problem is that when we connect a USB 3.0 External HDD it occasionally works fine but more often than not it will continually connect and disconnect almost as if it is not getting the correct amount of power. Now we both work in a computer repair shop so we have tried all of the basics, ensuring drivers are up to date, changing the HDD cable and due to where we work we have managed to test over 5 different brands of USB 3.0 external drives, used and brand new, all of which work fine on other computers via USB 3.0
Having read a few posts it seems that others have experienced this but there is no solution that I have found. Is there something we have missed or is this awaiting a driver update? The laptop is fantastic for my development needs however a £1300 laptop that can't reliably connect to a USB 3.0 drive is somewhat disappointing - I remain optimistic that there is indeed a solution!
Thankyou in advance for any help you can provide.

    Hello markusbarrot,
The USB 3.0 high-speed electric signal is easy to be interfered and this will make the device suffer intermittent connections/disconnections. Not every USB 3.0 device suffered by this. It depends on the quality of the circuits between the USB device and the mainboard of the laptop.
    1. Suggest you get a shorter USB 3.0 cable or an interference-resisted (magnetic shield) USB 3.0 cable. Some problems can be resolved by this.
    2. Update the firmware of your external USB devices. Some problems can be resolved by this.
    3. Return the laptop to the MSI authorized service providers or your local dealers for inspection on the USB ports. They can make sure your USB ports do work in the spec. or not.
