MSI GT70 W/ GTX680m - No Driver update

Hye all,
apparently MSI thinks that just because there`s  some  new Upcoming latops
It can stop updating its "older" laptops drivers.
the GT70-one has been with us for barely 1 freaking year...
and up until now there were no new updates in the drivers front.
So, as a proud owner of GT70-ONE, I expect you guys (the MSI Supporting team) to  catch up, and update your site.
Other wise we, the consumer, would start to "voting  with our feet".
Example :
Your Site:
Version    302.75
N'vidia Site:
Version    320.18

Any manufacture I have ever seen only really offers the initial release of the drivers.
My GT70-OND has a GTX 675MX in it. The initial release is what the factory image has and the BETA release on the MSI Drivers download page fixed some issues that a lot of games where having at that time, driver wise there identical. the "BETA" drivers where just the same Drivers that Nvidia pushed out with a modified INI file that included the GTX 675MX.
I remember fixing the INI file my self for about 2 weeks after that "BETA" release until Nvidia added it to there INI file. From pretty much all OEM's I have ever worked with has said to go to the chip set manufacture and get the latest drivers.
Case and pint.
Samsung Laptop (drivers on there page 2010, Intel drivers a few weeks ago)
Lenovo Laptop (Drivers on there page 2008, Intel's drivers a few weeks ago)
EVGA Video cards (there forums instruct you to go to Nvidia's page and download them, but they try to mirror the latest drivers)
HP Laptop (drivers from 2009 on there page, being an AMD system I had to go to there page to get the latest drivers)
Acer Aspire Laptop (drivers on there page 2011 and again Intel's drivers are a few weeks ago)
I want to make this clear, I am not trying to bash you or anyone here, I'm just trying to make a point and teach you something :P
Most OEM's done update there drivers past the factory image, the fact they released a BETA driver is proof they tried to help us early adopters of a new GPU (the GTX 675MX in my case).
The Driver for my WiFi card in my MSI laptop is the one from Intel's page and using there driver (the chip set manufacture) is much better than the one MSI has on there page, the connection would drop out all the time but a driver from Intel fixed that.
They (OEM's) only offer the Drivers they know works with there products.
As far as UEFI BIOS is concerned. When in Windows your never going to tell a difference, there is no performance advantages, just like darkhawk said.

  • MSI GT70 0NE , GTX680M (4GB)

    Dear All,
    I was totally happy to buy the new MSI GT70 0NE , GTX680M (4GB) but unfornately after three weeks of heavy games (Black OPS II, MW3) using I have observe the following:
    - The AC adapter making a buzzy noise in all laptop senarios (idle or full load).
    - The laptop fan making noise in idle mode even with the built graphics card (Intel HD4000).
    - Some time when game scene load it I get slow perfomance.
    Currenlty I'm not happy for the mentioned issues for expensive laptop which should not be there ....
    I would appreciate if some one from MSI read my problems and advise how to slove those issues.
    Regards,

    Occasionally I've had poor performance happen in the middle of the game....Not sure why, but then if I hit the turbo + fan buttons, almost instantly I get the performance back. Most likely the notebook was getting too hot and throttling the CPU/GPU, in my case.
    The buzzing from the power supply could very well just be that you have 'dirty' power at your residence. Not impossible in the least, and I used to deal with this as well. I have a power conditioner/UPS now and I hear no such buzzing. Just something to consider. It's difficult to manufacture and design a power supply that will work great in all scenarios and is small and lightweight.
    As Svet said, contact MSI support, they will be the ones that will get things straightened out. By the sound of it, perhaps your fan is bad and that is why the game performance is lacking......

    thanks guys.
    now i can see both the Intel hd 4000 & nvidia gtx675mx in device manager.
    now i would like to know how to switch to nvidia .i tried disabling Intel but then both graphics cards are not working.
    please guide me .
    in nvidia control panel it shows the laptop display is connected to the intel HD4000 how do i move it to nvidia.
    regards ,
    rob
    What exactly do you mean? Like when you want to play a game? You need to open up the NVidia control panels, go to "Manage 3D Settings", and then in the right most pane, click on the "Program Settings" tab. In there, you need to add each game/program you want to use the NVidia adapter with when it runs. This allows you to only use the NVidia adapter when you're running programs that require that graphics card. Very neat, and cool feature.

  • MSI GT70 2OC Realtek audio driver problem

    Hi,
    I am having MSI GT70 2OC-065US. I am using Roccat Kave headphones. Headphone is real 5.1 surround one, hence it comes with four 3.5 mm audio jacks. It used to work well and there was sound from each speaker. But since I have upgraded to latest sound drivers provided on product support page, my rear speakers have stopped working. If I exchange the jack with some other then they work, but speakers which are plugged in rear jack don't work. This means new drivers have probably disabled my rear jack.
    Kindly suggest a solution to this problem.

    No sorry my friend. My PC is not with me on my holiday so can't help as much as I'd like to.
    Restore to previous settings, apparently there is nothing newer (in most cases) just simple bug fixes, and I believe you had no probs before?
    Thanks for replying and sorry for disturbing during your holiday. I switched back to my old drivers and everything started working perfectly fine.
    I guess there is problem with new drivers.

  • MSi GT70 stuck at nVidia driver 311.48

    I forget the quick way to post my specs (please refresh).  I'm on hold now to speak with an MSi tech.  The driver's on nVidia's website are 320.xx   I've tried everything but the new WHQL does not recognized the graphics hardware??  Help

    so!
    First of all, you have to do that:
    https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/534575/geforce-drivers/official-nvidia-verde-notebook-gpu-driver-request-thread/
    Request a support for your gpu.
    Keep your ID, it'll be usefull for the next step.
    Because of i can't past a link there, i'll make a Copy/Paste for a topic from another forum:
    Quote
    Steps:
    1. Get your device ID: click on CONTROL PANEL, then CLICK on SYSTEM, then CLICK on DEVICE MANAGER
    2. Under Other Devices/ (or if your video card already has a driver under Display Adapter) click on Video Adapter
    3. Click on Details, Device Instance Id should already be selected
    4. You will see something similar to this:
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_20421043&REV_A1\ 4&30DE1B
    This has the detail about your specific video card maker, chipset and model
    For instance in my system
    VEN_10DE tells me the Vendor is 10DE which is the Vendor ID for NVIDIA
    DEV_0DD1 tells me the Chipset is 0DD1 which is the Chipset GTX 460M
    SUBSYS_20421043 tells me that this is the Specific MODEL GTX 460M in the Asus 73JW Laptop
    5. If you haven't already done so then MANUALLY Download the latest NVIDIA driver for your video card from the NVIDIA website and run the install program. It will give your the error : "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware" Don't Panic.
    6. GOTO the install directory. The default will be something like:
    c:\nvidia\DisplayDriver\275.50\WinXP\ English\Display.Driver\
    or
    c:\nvidia\DisplayDriver\260.63\WinXP\ International\Display.Driver\
    7. there will be many INF files there of the type:
    nvaa.inf
    nvac.inf
    nvam.inf
    nvao.inf
    nvbl.inf
    etc...
    8. Pick any one of them (I picked nvam.inf) and make a backup copy then open the original in NOTEPAD or your favourite text editor
    9. Scroll down until you see lines like:
    [NVIDIA_Devices.NTx86.5.1]
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0405.01% = Section001, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0405&SUBSYS_15D21043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0405.02% = Section001, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0405&SUBSYS_16341043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0407.01% = Section001, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407&SUBSYS_080117FF
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0407.02% = Section002, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407&SUBSYS_15881043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0407.03% = Section003, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407&SUBSYS_16181043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0407.04% = Section004, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407&SUBSYS_16321043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0407.05% = Section001, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407&SUBSYS_17A21043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0407.06% = Section005, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407&SUBSYS_3D7B17AA
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0408.01% = Section001, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0408&SUBSYS_19021043
    These files are for the most part listed BY the four digit HEXidecimal number that appears after DEV.
    10. NOW CAREFULLY scroll down to the section that is similar to your chipset / DEV number
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0CB1.01% = Section041, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0CB1&SUBSYS_203C1043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DEE.02% = Section042, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DEE&SUBSYS_15621043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DEE.04% = Section042, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DEE&SUBSYS_15A21043
    11. Take a look at this pattern. You will make a DEVICE ID for your Video Adapter and insert it here
    The first part is the same for everyone:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.
    From Step 4
    my DEV is 0DD1
    so my device id so far is:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.01%
    NOTE: id there is already DEVs same as yours then your line will be the next increment ie...
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.02%, or %NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.03%, etc
    for the section just make it the same as the section where you're inserting it so I have:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.01% = Section042,
    the next part is the same for everyone so you will have:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.01% = Section042, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_
    add the rest (your DEV and SUBSYS numbers) so it matches your DEVICE ID and your finished device ID should look similar to this:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.01% = Section042, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_20421043
    INSERT IT WILL LOOK LIKE THIS:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0CB1.01% = Section041, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0CB1&SUBSYS_203C1043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.01% = Section042, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_20421043
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0DEE.02% = Section042, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DEE&SUBSYS_15621043
    12. NOW SCROLL DOWN to the [Strings] section it will look like this:
    [Strings]
    DiskID1 = "NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP (32 bit) Driver Library Installation Disk 1"
    NVIDIA = "NVIDIA"
    NVIDIA_DEV.0405.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS"
    NVIDIA_DEV.0405.02 = "NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS "
    NVIDIA_DEV.0407.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT"
    NVIDIA_DEV.0407.02 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT "
    NVIDIA_DEV.0407.03 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT "
    NVIDIA_DEV.0407.04 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT "
    NVIDIA_DEV.0407.05 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT "
    NVIDIA_DEV.0407.06 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT "
    Same as before add a line in for your Video card:
    NVIDIA_DEV.0CB1.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M"
    NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M - KAPs INF MOD"
    NVIDIA_DEV.0DEE.02 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 415M "
    NVIDIA_DEV.0DEE.04 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 415M "
    NOTE: id there is already DEVs same as yours then your line will be the next increment ie...
    NVIDIA_DEV.0CB1.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M"
    NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M"
    NVIDIA_DEV.0DD1.02 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M - KAPs INF MOD"
    NVIDIA_DEV.0DEE.02 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 415M "
    NVIDIA_DEV.0DEE.04 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 415M "
    13. SAVE FILE
    14. If you have the file ListDevices.txt open it and add a line under the appropriate section
    15. GO back and manually run setup.exe from where the NVIDIA files where extracted:
    NOTE: DO NOT RUN THE DOWNLOADED APPLICATION OR YOUR WILL OVERWRITE EVERYTHING YOU'VE JUST DONE!
    For Example Your setup program may be here:
    c:\nvidia\DisplayDriver\260.63\WinXP\ International\setup.exe
    THATS IT YOUR DRIVER WILL BE INSTALLED...ENJOY
    It just come from the nvidia forum, enjoy it! It works

    Hello,
    Sorry if this post should be in a different thread.  Currently I have the 2PC-1044 Dominator with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed (AHCI), and I would like to know if there is a Bios upgrade available.  The support downloads section does not list the correct version for me to download (Win7 x64).  Also, is it ok for me to install Firmware 1763EMS1.517 and vBIOS 80.04.F7.00.06 without damaging/formatting the OS?
    Below are the current versions of my system

  • Desktop screen flickers after updating my nvidia GTX 680m driver on my MSI GT70!

    Hello, MSI!
    Yesterday, I updated my MSI GT70 Dragon Edition's nvidia driver to the one suggested on my laptop'smsi page. Previously, It was running on the latest driver downloaded from nvidia itself (314.22) with no problems whatsoever. But I thought I'd give the msi's official driver a try, to see if it was better. The whole day, the laptop worked fine, even after restart, but after starting it and logging in today, the desktop screen was black and flickering. There was an Flickering error window that can't be read but the title that says ".net framework 4 error"!
    Now I've googled the problem, and I might have found the solution, but I need to boot it to safe mode first, and I'm not able to. So if you, please, could tell me how to boot my GT70 to safe mode. Note that I'm not able to reach the "Run" window since the screen is black, and the laptop keeps restarting.
    Awaiting you immediate response.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello, flobelix!
    Thanks for your instant reply.. and I'm sorry that I could not immediately reply as I lost the forum URL
    Anyways, I solved the problem!!
    I knew that the problem was caused by the driver update, so I decided to connect an external LCD monitor, and the desktop screen showed right away on it. I was curious, so I disconnected that external LCD monitor to see if the laptop's screen went back to normal, and it DID!!! Anyhow, I immediately reconnected the LCD monitor to completely delete the corrupted driver (v314.22) and reinstalled the same driver again...
    And by the way, the suggested way of approaching the safe mode when the PC is not normally functioning did not work, whatsoever! I sat for at least two consecutive hours trying it.. in vein!
    Again, thanks a lot.

    You shouldn't install anything you find especially not from bios section! weren't you reading what it says there? Your laptop came with win8 pre-installed and you can't crossflash to a Win7 version. Please read the warnings.

    Hi,
    I just bought a MSI GT70 0ND 1212xfr :

    GPU : Nvidia GTX 675MX
    RAM : 8 Go
    HDD : 750 Go  7200 trs/min

    I tried several drivers but i always get this error message when the laptop has to switch on the GTX 675MX instead of the Intel HD4000 :

    But finally the GTX 675MX is not enabled so i can't use my graphic card.

    Already done and it didn't change anything but i found a temporary solution : i set the nvidia parameters to start my game with the GTX, the message still appears but next the game is running with the GTX. I didn't try with another game. I hope it will works too.
