MSI GTX 295

Hello
i have Msi 295GTX and mobo Msi eclipse.
i get a cable with him i dont know what pupuse of the cable.from one side i put him near my card power cable,s
but othe side i think should put on mother board.
i dont know on mother board where is should put?
if any one know then help me
Thanks in advance

You got a GTX 295 and you don't know how to put it in the mainboard!?
Give it to a computer shop or someone who knows what they're doing and let them install it.  You do not want to break something that expensive.

  • MSI GTX 295 - hit by the killerdriver?

    Hi,
this feels strange. I even warned before the killerdriver when I read about the problems. In the past days I had updated my MSI Eclipse to BIOS 1.B and also updated to newer drivers for kbd and MSI GTX 295. Only did a quick test to notice that my setup didn't benefit noticeable from the Crysis performance gain (<2 min playing time) and without running anymore games, tried to solve some questions with my board. During that process I read the warning about nvidias killerdriver and went back to the previous release.
After solving my boards QPI problem with a workaround, I finally thought I should enjoy some Crysis...and guess what, I got a BSOD (STOP 124) crysis, sometimes after seconds, but no later than 5 min into the game.
I thought that came from finally setting my QPI to 6400, thus went back to 4800, but no change. Reduced RAM frequency from 1600 to 1333, but no change.
Decided to read a bit further here on the forum - and found the link to MSI Afterburner and it's Kombustor test. Downloaded, installed, gasped as the temp rose pretty quick to 95. Another more degree and BSOD...more attempts, typically with the machine freezing when GPU1 hit 96 or 97 degrees C.
Monitored other temps...CPU below 60, IOH at 60. Nothing special...but always at GPU1 temp 96 or 97 (typically 5 mins into Kombustor test) the machine crashed. Fan speed appears to be automatically adjusted by driver, strangely attempting to target around 97C although the fan still had some reserve (I've read the GTX 295 is specified for 105C max temperature).
CPU: Intel Core i7 975 EE at stock speed
    RAM: Corsair CM3X2G1600C7D
Mainboard: MSI Eclipse SLI (X58 Rev 13)
Graphics: MSI GTX 295 at stock speeds - never cared about OC
    PSU: CoolerMaster 850W
Turns out that neither QPI nor RAM speed are having an effect, CPU is cold, IOH is cold...but always at the same GPU1 temp the system crashes. The system has been stable before.
Am I another victim of the killerdriver?

That's the CPU V. needing a boost when you get stop 124. Henry may be on the right track. You may have an air flow dead zone in your case.
GREAT! THANKS! That makes me VERY happy, as that's something I can deal with much better than losing a card I don't even want to replace! Very many thanks to all of you at this point, it's already helping a lot making me feel much better. I love that GTX 295!
Yesterday I began writing an answer to Henry, but then decided to run a few more tests before - and those had a strange outcome:
    1) Kombustor still was 100% safe to freeze the system when GPU1 hit 96 or 97C. The fan quickly runs above 70% but below 80%.
    2) Crysis (Warhead, to be more precise) didn't want to crash anymore, but I was on adrenaline, moving in a very different pattern...and hat my second monitor enabled this time for temp monitoring there...what I saw was VERY strange:
    - GPU load was higher than with Kombustor (95 to 97 percent instead of 92 to 93 percent) but the heat was 80 to 85 degrees celsius instead of constantly increasing. This might have to do with Crysis varying in GPU load between 40 and 97 percent depending upon the position and direction of view...thus for more testing I stopped when I found a high GPU load spot...but the temp was pretty stable and the fan never got beyond 51%.
    - CPU load was pretty low. I was really astonished. It barely went to 50C (real CPU temp, not that what GPII reports, which was far less).
I did expect that enabling the second monitor to run other apps there had also an effect on the test, but otherwise I couldn't check the situation while running crysis for the test...
Ain't that weird? Kombustor uses less GPU but has drastically more heat production...and the fan appears a bit too slow to me, I'd expect it would go to 100% once the card goes into such a temperature zone. Maybe Kombustor does more use of other parts of the card which then create further heat but won't go too much into fan speed calculation? I haven't run Kombustor before, so maybe I might never have been able to run it stable?
Now I guess I need to identify why my non OC 975 had too few juice and why Kombustor apparantly leads to a heat-freeze. However, yesterday during that constant BSOD thing with crysis, changing settings for QPI and RAM speed didn't help, thus I went looking elsewhere. Maybe something else still was a little bit different than before when I could play Crysis without problems and never had a BSOD due to CPU/RAM or such failing...
Aside from that, here's info about case & cooling:
GPII reported CPU temp <40C (which seems to be System Temp sensor in reality, not the CPU temp sensor, as CPU temp was higher, but below 60C). IOH was at or slightly below 60. Didn't use GPII to save anything, just to monitor temps, thus I had the main fan running much faster than it would with GPII.
    Fans (Thermaltake VJ40001WZ case):
    Top 23cm
    Rear 12cm
    Front 12cm
Original Intel Core i7 975 EE fan.
PSU has it's own fan, but don't know it's size right now...it's pretty much taking air from the outside of the case and throwing it back outside through another opening - and what came out there wasn't hot.
After those strange results late last night I decided I'd should go to sleep...looks like a good idea, reading that the BSOD during Crysis is most likely not related to freezings when running Kombustor! Makes two different things to deal with, though...but then, only OpenGL I use is Oolite and that never resulted in noticeable GPU load anyway. DirectX seems to be a completely different story when it comes to GPU temp under full load...

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum support GTX 295 ?

I have a problem on K9N2 SLI with GTX295.  many game start freeze up with them in 1 or 2 mins.  I checked my CPU and GPU temp and they all below 50'C.
The gtx 295 have 2 GPUs, do I need to swich on the SLI support in BIOS or somewhere els?  OR MAYBE the PSU problem...?
also I have a quick question,  is K9N2 SLI support AMD Phenom II  X4 ?  I'm thinking upgrade to 955.

Have you tested the VGA in another machine?

Well after doing lots of reading and checking a lot of post by HU16E. I was able to get my processor to 4.09ghz. temps are under 60c on all 4 cores. going to try to re apply my thermal paste tomorrow a little thinner and see if that brings temps down. very impressed with this new chip or this motherboard. waiting on new power supply to get here to hook up my other gtx 295 and fire her up and see how it does. my new pc has made me a very happy person. =D

Well, thanks for the acknowledgement, but without the knowledge of Jack t. N. & many others here in the forum, teaching me what utilities to use, & how to use them correctly, & the proper procedures in assembling a system, troubleshooting, etc., I'm sure I would have fried or ruined a number of components. A large part of system building involves some trial & error, but there is no substitute for advance research & planning, & actually reading the mainboard manual instead of using it for a coaster for a favorite beverage during system assembly.

  • Z77 Mpower+ GTX 295 problems.

    Hi all
    I have an Z77 mpower motherboard with Avexir MPower Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit and a i5 3570k.
When the mobo is at deafults in the bios then all is ok..not one problem.
but if I do a small OC [email protected] using turbo and use the XMP on the ram
Then most times it gets to windows the I get a black screen and my monitor says "No video input"
Now on my 295 dual pcb I have a blue light(for power)and a green light that comes on when I am connected to a screen.
What I have noticed is that for some reason the mobo will switch off the screen side of my 295(the green light is now out)
and some times when it gets to the windows logon screen it turns off the power light!
At the MSI mpower page it says that a GTX 295 with the firmware of 62.00.6C.00.01/02 has been tested
my firmware is 62.00.45.00.02(P0657-7000) not the same so?
I have tried my 295 in another i5 mobo(gigabyte) and all is ok, my power supply is a Silverstone 650W SLI.
    Any help would be good
    Thank you for your time.

There is another user with this exact error. Best to contact MSI, I'll send them an email and see if there is a known issue.
Please let me know which ME version is installed. Check in UEFI bios for this.
    Thanks

Edit: Try this version as well:
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22092&keyword=management+engine&lang=eng
I also recommended to the other user to remove control center then do a registry search for it and delete any left over keys and files. Then re-install see if it helps.
    Thanks xmad
I will uninstall control centre in a bit and do as you say.
I have told MSI support but all they say is they can't replicate the problem and they never heard about it.
The ME driver is installed this "please replace the ME version" will it cause any other problems other than control panel?
because I can live with out it. I will look at my ME version when my 480s come tomoz.
As I am hooked to my monitor using the built in graphics and it don't like my monitor lol.
Thanks again...Hello MSI support..please pay these guys or give them some great freebies..thank you

  • MSI GTX 780 "Gaming Mode" -Things go black

    Hello,
I am new to the forums. I have registered because I am hoping someone can help me with a very frustrating situation. I have spent hours upon hours attempted to figure this out on my own to no avail. Although I am a new forum member, I am pleading for some guidance.
I just bought/installed a MSI GTX 780 graphics card. I have uninstalled my previous driver (clean uninstall) and installed the current driver. Everything seems to be just fine, except for one issue...
When I select "gaming mode" in the MSI Gaming App, my desktop goes black (my wallpaper disappears). If I have a Chrome browser window open, that goes black too. If I mouse over an area of that browser window, the window reveals itself in sections (as I mouse over them). Furthermore, my monitor seems to fade in and out slowly from it's typical brightness. It starts out dimmed and gradually returns to normal brightness, and the cycle repeats slowly.
My temps are just fine according to Corsair Link. When I observe the stats in Afterburner, everything appears to be running properly. Prior to reinstalling the GTX 780 driver, I was playing various games and everything (temps, GPU usage, etc) was running properly and well within their respective safe ranges.
    System Specs:
    Asus Z87 A motherboard
    i7 4770k processor
MSI N780 GTX 780 graphics card
    16 gb Corsair Vengeance RAM
    128 GB SSD
    Corsair H100i
Please help me if possible, I would very much appreciate it! The problem manifested once I installed the MSI gaming app. Once I was unable to fix it, I then did a uninstall/reinstall of my GTX 780 driver. The whole process was successful. However, once I reinstalled the MSI gaming app and and activated the "gaming mode" preset, the same issue returned... blackness. I can still see the windows task bar and my desktop shortcuts, but blackness everywhere else.
Thank you kindly for your time and consideration!
    Mike

The gaming mode is just the normal boost behavior the card would run without the Gaming APP. Uninstall it and see if the card works fine under 3d load. If so it's some kind of software compatibility issue. Simply don't use the gaming APP then.

  • MSI GTX 670 completely freezes please help

Hi. I posted my problem on the nvidia forums and they suggested I RMA my graphics card and get it replaced... I thought I would post it here to see if anyone could help me...
This issue has started about a few days ago and it has been bugging me because I can't play any pc games for longer than about a minute. Anyway, so the problem is, after about 10 seconds of playing any pc game(I'm using the game minecraft as an example) my computer COMPLETELY freezes and blue squares appear. There is nothing I can do other than switch off the power. Even my mouse pointer freezes. I don't think it's an 'overheating' problem because I let it cool down for 24 hours and the problem persists.
I took a picture with my iphone to show
As you can see, the blue squares appear and EVERYTHING is frozen... Even if i'm not playing a game, sometimes on occasions my screen goes black and comes back and says "display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered". But the main issue is that I can't play games or even watch youtube videos for longer than 10 seconds...
    I have a MSI GTX 670 and I have the 306.97 driver.
I have tried countless 'fixes' (for example, setting power management to prefer maximum performance in nvidia control panel) and others too..
Any replies will be GREATLY appreciated, thankyou

    brand, model PSU?
    Quote
I don't have another computer to test it in..
then you can RMA it and if the problem is not in the card the problem will persist.

  • Problem with MSI GTX 960 GAMAING 4G graphics card - Please help

So I just bought an MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G graphics card. My problem is that it seems to randomly decide when it wants to run fine at 1215 MHz, and when it wants to downclock to around 135 MHz. Today for example, I was playing Witcher 3: Game was running fine (~55 FPS) for a few hours because the card was performing at maximum. Then, out of nowehere, I dropped to about 4 FPS. I checked Afterburner, and the core clock went down to 135 MHz, while I was still in game. The card is not overheating during gaming. I have the fans set to 35% speed at all times and the GPU never got hotter than about 50c.
I have the latest nVidia drivers installed. I even tried an earlier set of nVidia drivers and the same things happened. Also yes, it is firmly seated in the PCI-E slot and yes, the power cable is firmly plugged in.
    PC Specs:
    Intel Core i5 Devils Canyon
    Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WIFI mobo
    GSkill Sniper 16GB RAM
MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G graphics card
    Antec EDGE 550w PSU
I understand these newer graphics cards have power saving settings built in, but I have my nVidia control panel settings to "Prefer maximum performance" and it doesn't seem to help. It seems my card is putting itself into power saver mode at will. I suppose my PSU could be the culprit even though the recommended PSU is only 400w, and I have 550w. Any ideas?

So it turns out I wasn't running the latest BIOS for my motherboard. I updated my BIOS and cleared CMOS. Everything was running fine for a couple hours. I was playing Witcher 3 at full clock and memory speed. GPU temp was hovering around 62 deg c at 60 FPS. Then after a couple hours, the game crashed. Rebooted my computer, and now I am back to the same issue where the card won't run at full speed in a 3D application. Even ran the Valley benchmark tool again and the card didn't increase speed to compensate.
Do I have a defective card? If so I will get it replaced from Newegg.
Also I don't know if I am running the latest vbios. GPU-Z says I have 84.06.14.00.F3
If there is a newer vbios, I can try to update and see if that does anything. I will try anything before returning this to Newegg. My old video card bit the dust and artifacts everywhere, so I don't have a temp replacement.

  • B2 Error with new MSI GTX 970 :(

    Hi there team!
Just registered to try and get help. I spent around 6 hours researching + trying all the suggestions throughout many different forums, but the B2 error still persists. I am currently running the following spec:
Mobo - MSI Z68A-G43 (G3), with version 4.30 ( I flashed bios last night and still no help)
    CPU - Intel® Core™ i5-2500K Processor, 3.5GHz etc.etc.
    RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb at 1333MHz
    GPU - MSI GTX 970 GAMING Twin Frozr V 4GB GDDR5
PSU - Cooler Master Silent Pro 700W
    I have tried:
-Taking out the card and using the on-board graphics to flash the bios to later version, No help. (during this process, the B2 error does NOT show up)
-Upgraded the card to latest nVidia drivers, even uninstalled and re-installed them. No help.
-Upgraded all the drivers from MSI, i.e. chipset etc. through Live Update 6. No help.
When the card is in, I cannot even access bios, it just gets stuck at B2 screen for like a minute, and then carries on with the boot process. I am able to play games etc. after the booting, but this error for sure should not be there when the PC boots up. I didn't have any issues with my old GTX 560 TI. I've read different forums saying that it might have something to do with the mobo thinking that something has to be connected to the on-board graphics; or that flashing BIOS helped a lot of users, but not me :(.
I don't have a second PC to test the card on.
Literally, I would try anything, please someone just help :(( This card is a beast and I wanna be able to properly use it and not having to worry about this error.
Thank you very much guys, hope someone can help!

Man thank you so much! It is finally working!!! Thank you!!!! ))) It is showing correct version in BIOS, does not show B2 error whatsoever, all done! )
Thanks for your time! You can close thread, but it's very useful for anyone that has this issue!
Wich version of BIOS do you have installed? Can you OC your processor with new BIOS?

  • MSI GTX 970 not being detected on first PCI-E 3.0 slot of MSI Gaming 5 motherboa

    Hi guys.
So I recently got myself a new build and some of the components include a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G GPU and a MSI Gaming 5 mobo. When installing the GPU to the motherboard I found that for some reason nothing was being displayed on the screen. The screen wouldn't display a no signal message but it would stay black when I booted the PC up. However, when I plugged the GPU into the 2nd PCI-E 3.0 slot it would work and display on the screen. I read on a Tom's Hardware thread of someone with a similar problem and it was recommended to him to check his CPU for bent pins and he later confirmed that was the problem. I have tried the same, but as far as I can tell all of the pins were in their natural state and couldn't find any bent ones.
But I also discovered something else which really started to confuse me... When I plug in my old GPU (a Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti) into the first PCI-E 3.0 slot, it would work normally?! Why would it work fine with my GTX 560 but not my GTX 970?? I have tried everything. Even stripping the pc down to the most basic parts on a wooden surface and tested everything but it's still the same problem. I have also made sure that the display setting in the BIOS is set to PEG, but it would still not display anything when the GTX 970 is in the first slot, but if I plug the HDMI cable directly into my motherboard, even with the GTX 970 installed on the first slot, it would display normally. Also, in my BIOS it doesn't even detect anything being in the first PCI-E 3.0 slot in the Board Explorer menu. But when I installed it in the 2nd PCI-E 3.0 slot the Board Explorer menu would recognize it, but would say it's running at x8 and not x16. Should I be worried about this?
    My full setup:
    MSI Gaming 5 Motherboard
    Intel i7 4790K
    MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
    Kingston HyperX 1333Mhz 8Gb (2x4Gb)
    Corsair RM 750 PSU
    Corsair H80i CPU cooler
Any advice from you guys on what to do or what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated!

remove power cord from the PSU and do >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
also reseat the card into PCI-E slot 1 and make sure its fill very well into the slot

3.) If we need to check if thier is a more recent version. We can check your Vbios in one of two ways.
A.) Upload a copy of your current vbios somewhere and give us a link. You can save a copy of your vbios using >>GPU-Z<<.
B.) You can also just use NVFLASH >>Download NVFLASH for windows<<
    Syntax:
    nvflash /v >rep.txt [ENTER]
This will copy all of the information we need into a txt file you will fine in the folder in which you placed nvflash.
4.) Be aware that gpu-z screenshots or what gpu-z reads out as bios version are NOT of any use for identifying the required vbios version. While it doesn't hurt to add those when S/N and an actual copy of the vbios are also supplied simply just adding screenshots or version readouts will not get you any further and us having to ask for the required informations.

  • MSI gtx 570 twin frozr III - Dual Screen Windowed mode issues

Ok, so... I was running a solo monitor 1440x900 resolution, i recently purchased a brand new asus 24 inch 1900x1080 monitor. Basically what is happening is when i play WoW or Battlefield 3 in windowed mode on the 1080p monitor the colors are not perfect. When i go full-screen on the new monitor no issues, but that is not what i want to have to live with. When i say the colors are not perfect what i mean is, for example when i look @ the sky instead of being a smooth transition or blend from one shade of the sky to the next it is bars or stripes of each shade as if i am looking at the sky in 8 bit color instead of 32 bit color. Another thing to note is that when i login to windows 7 the blue screen where i input the password has the same effect. The 1440x900 monitor is running everything just fine. the only issue is with the 1080p monitor.
I am using DVI cabling for both, and have swapped them around to see if that was the issue, and sadly it is not. I am running the updated gpu driver, which i uninstalled and re-downloaded and installed again tonight.
When i use the HDMI cable,  that fixes the issue but i need the HDMI for my 42 inch tv.
Also in windows, just to cover my bases with this post, i have the native resolutions properly configured, as well as in the game for the given monitor it is being played on.
Anyone know of a fix for this?
    i7 2600k
    asus PBZ68-v Pro/Gen3
    Msi gtx 570
    Samsung syncmaster 953bw (1440x900)
    Asus VS248 (1900x1080)
I am more than happy to re-explain anything that may not be as descriptive or clear to you just let me know!
    EDIT!
When i run the 24 inch 1080p new monitor as my only monitor on the system, everything runs perfectly...
    Edit #2
Ok so i have pin pointed a possible cause
This msi gtx 570 struggles with operating multiple displays with different resolutions, while dual screening with my 1080p television and the 1080p display, everything runs as expected. Having to also render a 1440x900 display is probably the reason i am having the graphic issues. Is there any type of utility, setting, or other fix to this type issue? also this gpu is certainly less than 2 weeks since i purchased i could get a different card to remedy this... any suggestion? if you suggest a different card can you say so with certainty that it will work properly under the condition in which 2 resolutions will be required?

Ok, the problem is fixed and Svet i skipped a step or two. I installed the new driver with the clean install to save time for an initial attempt. What is interesting is that with the Geforce driver, only one 1920x1080 resolution was available
The msi driver gave me 2 options, 1920x1080 and 1920x1080 (native). The latter resolution fixed the issue for whatever reason.
The solution to this problem is so easy, when i purchased battlefield 3 it prompted me to download the geforce.com driver and i did not think anything of it at the time, lesson learned.

  • Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II - Problem

    Hey folks,
Im having a problem with my Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II video card.
I can't make it work with my monitor, all I get is "No signal detected"
I know the monitor is fine, because I used it as it worked all good when I plugged it into
my laptop. It's a BenQ G2222HDL monitor btw. It has one VGA (D-sub) and one Dvi-D input.
So i've tried all types of cables (VGA, Dvi-D and even Hdmi cables), and
still, can't get no signal. What can I possibly do to make things work?
Also, my computer acts a bit wierd when it's starting up. Usually, I would turn it on, then it would turn itself off really quick. Then I turn it on again,
and it goes just fine and runs smoothly. After I changed the position of some RAM modules
and such, it changed. Now when I turn it on, the fans spin for 1 and there's just a tiny bit of noise until
it turns itself off. Then I turn it on again, and it goes just fine with all fans and stuff spinning.
So, I really need some help!

More background info; I build the computer myself. Everything went mostly fine, except for that I had to spend quite a long time to get everything right.
I started the machine, and it all went just fine (except for rebooting and then running smoothly, as it has done ever since). I did the MemOK! test and everything seemed to be fine. But when using the VGA cable that came with the monitor, I couldn't get any signal detected (I used a VGA to DVI adapter to plug the VGA cable into the Msi 560 TI videocard). I used 2 different adapters, but nothing happened. I tried with a HDMI cable, just to test, and that did not work either. Then, I figured out I should order a DVI-D cable.
So I ordered the cable, and went on to plug it into my monitor and my video card, no adapters needed. Still, no signal at all! Tried a different monitor to check if it was the monitor's fault. Nope, still no signal. Frustrated, I used the VGA cable again and tried to plug the monitor into the laptop, which worked just fine. A clear, bright image appeared. But not with my desktop computer with the Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II. Nothing works when I plug in the cables etc. No signal at all, although the computer itself seems to run just fine with fans spinning up and the different components making noise etc. Thus, I figured out there probably was something wrong with my Msi Geforce GTX 560 TI Twin Frozr II. Now I dont really know what to do.
Does anyone have an answer/advice/possible solution to my problem? I'm getting a tad frustrated now, seeing as I bought this computer 2 weeks ago and still haven't got to use it yet.

  • Problems After Installing MSI GTX 760 n760-2gd5/oc

I had previously bought the MSI GTX 750TI, but decided after a week to return it to get the more powerful MSI GTX 760 card. The 750 had worked without issue with my system when I returned it.
I installed the 760, and have had nothing but issues. Afterabout 2 minutes, everything locks up and I basically have to restart. The only way I can get anything done is in safe mode. I looked everywhere, installed multiple drive cleaning programs, installed the drivers, re-installed the drivers, to no avail. I downloaded the latest beta drivers from NVIDIA as well, didnt work.
My PSU supposedly has more than enough power (48A@12V) and I have connected the 2 6-pin connections from it to the card, I didnt need to use the adapters that came with the card.
Everywhere I have looked, my system meets any sort of standards to use this card.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    My build:
     CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI B85M-G43 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
     Memory: Crucial Ballistix 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage: Western Digital WD Blue 500GB 2.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card
Case: Cooler Master N400 ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Cooler Master i600 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

You;re saying that you've used different "driver cleaners" in order to make proper installation. Can you, for me please, use DriverFusion (free is enough) in SAFE MODE and remove the drivers?
Then without the card inserted and powered, run the PC and see how it goes. Then reinstall it (make sure it's properly seated and power supply cables are also nicely fit in) and run it.
    * Your motherboard supports up to 1600mhz RAM speed. Please downgrade yours in BIOS down to 1600 or 1333 (you WON"T notice any speed difference) but this might have been also an issue with newer/higher range graphics card. Also, is the RAM stick seated in the socket recommended by the manual? I believe it should be 2nd closest to the CPU socket.

  • Photoshop CS5 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 Crash

    My specifications:
    Photoshop CS5 (x64)
    Windows 7 x64
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 (latest v197.45 driver)
    Intel i7 920 2.67 GHz
My card is listed as a tested card for CS5 and NVIDIA says this is compatible with CS5, but today after using it, my screen went blank and the display driver recovered itself. It took about 5 minutes until Photoshop CS5 became responsive again and the GPU features were disabled. I am going to try GPU advanced mode and basic mode instead of normal mode to see what happens, but this is a shame that I have issues like this. I also had issues with CS4 like this.
What I did to cause this issue: I clicked" Place.." to place an object and that is when it crashed. It only happens randomly as I use Photoshop. Please NVIDIA or Adobe fix this issue. I love the GPU features and I want to run them, but this crashing is annoying for spending so much on buying this product. I hate to have to pay to contact Adobe technical support, it should be included with the purchase of software!
How to fix this without having to go to basic GPU mode or disabled GPU mode?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

With my own problems and a keen observer of this thread it making me think that I should stay away from Nvidia cards cards completed and go ATI
It comes down to policies within companies that in some cases we simply cannot know.
    For example:
Does nVidia or ATI have a better plan to support cards with new drivers into the future?  My experience is that right now, with my particular video card, ATI does a better job of making new features available (and making them work right) than nVidia.  Is this based on support policy or simply what the engineers can and can't do?  Maybe it's partially a matter of funding.
Who has a better handle on how to develop unified software and keep it working on all a whole family of cards?  What is their software quality?  I am active on Windows forums, and it sure seemed to take nVidia a lot longer to stabilize their drivers for Windows 7 than ATI.
Who has a better test lab?  You can imagine that if one company has a better built/funded/maintained test lab, they're more likely to make new versions of drivers for old cards work properly if they have a computer set aside somewhere with that old card in it just waiting to try out new drivers.  Unfortunately you can imagine with these companies making many, many new models all the time that funding that lab (and funding the MAINTENANCE of that lab) could get to be HUGE!
Lastly, how much do Marketing or other greedy business people influence company direction, vs. Engineers?  Imagine a Marketing person's thoughts:  "Stop making new drivers for that old card; we're not selling those and haven't for a long time.  If a person has one and can't run the latest game or graphics software, he'll go buy a new one, and that's more money for us."
By the way, just to get an idea of how many different cards we're talking about, look at the sheer number of models listed in the various lists on this page:  http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/
    Just food for thought.
