Currently I'm experiencing a problem where no matter what I'm doing, whether it is gaming or browsing, green/orange chequered squares appear exactly as in the picture below:
The problem lasts for a matter of seconds and then windows informs me that the drivers have recovered from a failure. This is very remininsant, but not identical, to when I had a 9800GT that died. This issue has only started within the last month and the card is over 6 months old. Is this likely to be a GPU issue?

Sadly I've no way of testing the card in another PC or a different PSU.
What is the likelihood that it is the PSU even though the card has been performing flawlessly for almost a year? Also I could understand if it was causing artifacts just when gaming due to power load, but it happened when I was merely surfing the net, where power draw doesn't even reach 300W.
Is a known solution to this issue an increase in Watts or is there a chance that it is a problem with the GPU?

  • Msi gtx 560ti hawk running always max clocks

    Hello.
My msi gtx 560ti hawk running always max clocks.
OC core clock up to 1000MHz gives similar results.
OC core clock past 1000MHz will stuck it at 1000MHz. Example i set core clock to 1040MHz and run 3DMark11,but
during the test it never exceeds 1000MHz.
Card is 15 months old and worked normally so far.
    My OC results before was
core clock 1000MHz Core Voltage 1.075V
core clock 1040MHz Core Voltage 1.088V
core clock 1100MHz Core Voltage 1.100V max temps ~78C
I never raised core clock over 1100 and memory clock over 2275.
    Things i'm done so far
    used 310.90 310.70 306.97 306.23 301.42 drivers
    disabled antivirus
mounted card out of the case and switched vbios in silence mode
used Afterburner 2.2.3 Evga Precision X
    reinstalled windows7
    reverted cpu to stock clocks
    Any advice?

No! Nvidia controlpanel was set to max perfomans and windows power options to high perfomance.
I changed nvidia to adaptive (windows stayed high perf) and now the clocks to come down again.
    Thanks Svet!
There is still a OC problem when i set core clock over 1000MHz.
I just ran 3dmark11 at following overclock core     1040MHz
                                                                  shader 2080MHz
                                                                  memory 2100
                                                                  core voltage 1.075+0.013
In results window the 3dmark11 says core clock 1040.
Afterburner 2.3.1 monitoring window says max core clock 1000
                                                                              shader 2000
                                                                              memory 2099
Although i´m not seeing shader adjusting bar in 2.3.1, there are  only core clock adjusting bar.
But adjusting a core clock will adjust shader x2. Am i right?

  • MSI GTX 560Ti twin frozr II OC high Temperature after RMA

    Hey guys,
I have an MSI GTX 560ti Twin Froz II OC card which was giving me weird artifacts on desktop and many random places so i send the card to rma. They replaced it with a same model MSI GTX 560ti Twin Froz II OC card but since i got this card i am getting very high temperatures like it reaches 90-95 C in 10 minutes and keep rising with fan speed 100% in games like Dota 2,Grid 2 and many other games so is there anything i can do to solve this problem.
My Nvidia Driver Version- 320.14 i have even tried 320 but the same result.
    My Gpu Screenshot
    My bios file https://hotfile.com/dl/225315714/b7fd67b/GF1.html
    Any bios upgrade might help?

its showing me the same version i have checked using nbitor. What do u think can be the problem of temperature rising so fast nearly 90+ in 1 min any guesses? cause my old 560 was working perfectly should i go and rma again?

  • MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk SLI not available

I have 2 MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk and when I go into Nvidia control panel SLI is not available as an option.
Both cards are visible and working properly in both the Device manager and the Nvidia control panel and the bridge is installed between the cards.
I am using Nvidia driver 285.62 which I have completely removed and reinstalled to try and solve the problem.
The only strange thing I noticed when installing the cards is that there is a small switch next to the SLI bridge that is marked Performance and Silent. When I opened the boxes one card had the switch was set to performance and the other was set to silent. Looking on the net I found that this was how aggressive the fan control was so I set them both to silent. After running into the problem of no SLI I also tried shutting down the machine and moving both switches to Performance but this didn't fix the issue.
Motherboard is a MSI Z68A-GD65 and Live update 5 says its up to date.
Any pointer on where to look would be appreciated.

K  problem sort of solved. I installed an old nvidia driver 270.61 and it works perfectly. Guess I'll just use the old drive until a game is giving me major issues and then see if a new drive is safe.

  • MSI GTX 680 fan automatic speed problem

Hi guys..first sorry for my bad english..
I buy today MSI GTX 680 and I have problem with automatic fan speed...i had GTX 570 TF and that was working perfect but with GTX 680 I have weird problem, when GPU temperature goes up, fan RPM speed goes down
    Screenshot:
Now I disable auto speed and set speed manually, but that's not best solution becouse I must manually set higher speed when i want play BF3, Call of duty MW3 etc...
    Anyone know what is problem?
I update GPU drivers, MSI afterburner ( 2.2.0 ), chipset drivers...
    Thanks!

Fans or other spare parts aren't sold separately. If your vga is still covered by warranty contact MSI if seller refuses rma: >>How to contact MSI.<<
That of course means the vga needs to be rma'ed. Alternatively you can use an aftermarket cooler like Alpenfoehn Peter, Prolimatech MK26 or Accelero Xtreme III

Temps listed are in safe range, if you change the cooling yes this will void the warranty.
You can try to reapply GPU's thermal paste and to retest, also ensure that you have enough room inside PC case along with good and enough airflow.
    Quote
Also ... What is that little switch and 3 pin connector on the top of the card ...
It is switching between 2 different vBIOSes, one is performance one and other is silent one.
    It's related to FAN behavior

  • Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II - Problem

    Hey folks,
Im having a problem with my Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II video card.
I can't make it work with my monitor, all I get is "No signal detected"
I know the monitor is fine, because I used it as it worked all good when I plugged it into
my laptop. It's a BenQ G2222HDL monitor btw. It has one VGA (D-sub) and one Dvi-D input.
So i've tried all types of cables (VGA, Dvi-D and even Hdmi cables), and
still, can't get no signal. What can I possibly do to make things work?
Also, my computer acts a bit wierd when it's starting up. Usually, I would turn it on, then it would turn itself off really quick. Then I turn it on again,
and it goes just fine and runs smoothly. After I changed the position of some RAM modules
and such, it changed. Now when I turn it on, the fans spin for 1 and there's just a tiny bit of noise until
it turns itself off. Then I turn it on again, and it goes just fine with all fans and stuff spinning.
So, I really need some help!

    Cpu - Intel i5 2500k, 3,3GHz, Socket LGA1155, 6MB with Noctua DH-14 CPU Cooler
    Motherboard - ASUS P8P67 PRO, Socket-1155, ATX, P67, DDR3, 3xPCIe(2.0)x16, CFX& SLI, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.0, FW, BT, EF
    Memory - Corsair XMS3 DDR3 4GB 1600MHz CL 9 (2x2GB kit)
Video card - MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti 1GB PhysX, PCI-Express 2.0,"Twin Frozr II", GDDR5, 2xDVI, native-miniHDMI, CUDA, 256bit (GF 114, overclocked to 880 Mhz on the core), (Marketing name; N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC)
    Harddrive 1 - Crucial Real C300 (64GB - 355/75 Mb/s read/write) SSD
    Harddrive 2 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200RPM, SATA 3.0 Gbps, 3,5", 16MB Cache, 8.9ms
Chassis - Fractal Define R3 Black Pearl Mid tower chassis (ATX, mATX, mITX) with two 120mm fans
Power Supply - Corsair HX Series 750 Watt Modular 80 plus silver (ATX 12v 63 amp)
Haven't got a chance to install os, but will install Windows 7 64Bit.
    The monitor is a BenQ 21,5" LED G2222HDL (1920 x 1080, 5000000:1, 5ms, VGA/DVI-D)
More background info; I build the computer myself. Everything went mostly fine, except for that I had to spend quite a long time to get everything right.
I started the machine, and it all went just fine (except for rebooting and then running smoothly, as it has done ever since). I did the MemOK! test and everything seemed to be fine. But when using the VGA cable that came with the monitor, I couldn't get any signal detected (I used a VGA to DVI adapter to plug the VGA cable into the Msi 560 TI videocard). I used 2 different adapters, but nothing happened. I tried with a HDMI cable, just to test, and that did not work either. Then, I figured out I should order a DVI-D cable.
So I ordered the cable, and went on to plug it into my monitor and my video card, no adapters needed. Still, no signal at all! Tried a different monitor to check if it was the monitor's fault. Nope, still no signal. Frustrated, I used the VGA cable again and tried to plug the monitor into the laptop, which worked just fine. A clear, bright image appeared. But not with my desktop computer with the Msi GTX 560 Twin Frozr II. Nothing works when I plug in the cables etc. No signal at all, although the computer itself seems to run just fine with fans spinning up and the different components making noise etc. Thus, I figured out there probably was something wrong with my Msi Geforce GTX 560 TI Twin Frozr II. Now I dont really know what to do.
Does anyone have an answer/advice/possible solution to my problem? I'm getting a tad frustrated now, seeing as I bought this computer 2 weeks ago and still haven't got to use it yet.

  • MSI GTX 275 Lightning Core Clock problems

    Gooday
I've had my MSI GTX 275 lightning Edition card now for about 1.5 years, when i play games the core clock runs at its full speed of 702 Mhz, then when im in Windows, its drops to 301 Mhz (understandable, 2 different modes 3d/2d, i think), but now when i play games and dont alt-tab or anything it runs @ 702, but the minute i alt-tab just to check something on the net i start getting problems, when i switch back to the game it switches smoothly and perfect, but 30 minutes sown the line the whole display freezes,(but the game sounds continue) then if alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del its runs it fine but from then on the card FORCES the core clock down to 400Mhz and i have to restart the pc to get to to normal. and it does that even more often if msiafterburner is running (but also when i uninstalled it)
Why would it do that?, the core doesnt get hot, i leave the fan on 100%(core temp=45-60'C)
    Extra info :
    Drivers=270.61 (same on 266, and 258)
same happens if i oc to 740
    psu is 600W Vantec (2x 22 amp 12V rail)
    Core i7 920 (no oc)
    7 GB Ram
    Windows 7 x64 SP1 ultimate

Sorry i forgot to add that to the first post, yep, re-installed windows, with/out SP1 with th different driver versions and also with/out or different gpu programs ie afterburner evga precision, riva tuner. The problem wasnt noticeable for about a year then lately it got worse and worse. I thought it was afterburner and the settings but without afterburner the game would only freeze much later on (few more hours) i saw (sorry cant say were exactly) that other users also had similar problems, where the game would get very choppy and windows would say "display driver stopped responding...) mine doesnt tell me that, the game would freeze and/or get a black screen and then few seconds later it would return but most of the time with the Forced down (400mhz) clock but windows didnt pick up display probs

  • MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk Question

Just a quick question to start with, how many RPMs should my fans be doing at 100%?
I have a feeling something is going horribly wrong with my new card.

Use MSI Afterburner to adjust the fan speed - you can draw a graph and dictate how much the fan should be working against a given temp.
Is the MSI GTX 560 Ti Hawk the most problematic card.....i mean EVERYONE complains about fan noise and temps. If i had read the forums first before buying the card....i wouldn't have bought it.

  • MSI gtx 560TI TFII fans

Hi everyone, before all, i'm sorry for my bad english.
I've got some troubles with my msi gtx 560 ti TFII. one of the fan is broken (two "fins", i don't know how you call that, are broken). it gets quite warm (i have to play in 1440x900 to get it under 60°C during games like assassin's creed brotherhood or batman arkham city, with medium setting.
I can't go any higher because over 60°C, the fans are getting very noisy, sounds like a plane in my case.
So, I'd like to know if I can replace my fans myself, where to buy it? And if I can put an aftermarket cooler on it. I've been told by arctic cooling that the accelero twin turbo II would fit, but it is out of stock everywhere here in belgium/france... Any other idea for a very quiet cooler?
    Thanks.

No! Nvidia controlpanel was set to max perfomans and windows power options to high perfomance.
I changed nvidia to adaptive (windows stayed high perf) and now the clocks to come down again.
    Thanks Svet!
There is still a OC problem when i set core clock over 1000MHz.
I just ran 3dmark11 at following overclock core     1040MHz
                                                                  shader 2080MHz

                                                                  core voltage 1.075+0.013
In results window the 3dmark11 says core clock 1040.
Afterburner 2.3.1 monitoring window says max core clock 1000
                                                                              shader 2000
                                                                              memory 2099
Although i´m not seeing shader adjusting bar in 2.3.1, there are  only core clock adjusting bar.
But adjusting a core clock will adjust shader x2. Am i right?

  • MSI GTX 580 Lightning XE Fan Problem

    Hi forumites
I am the proud owner of a new MSI GTX 580 Lightning XE Graphics card, so far I have not had any problems at all with my games and am happy to report the card appears to be functioning in the way I had hoped (better than my previous card).
However there is one annoying problem I have been having with the fans. For some strange reason the card appears to be spiking fan usage at idle for no reason.
I can be sat idle at desktop, or surfing the internet and for no reason the fan shoots up to 3500RPM.
In order to try and troubleshoot the problem I have done some fan usage monitoring with MSI Afterburner, as you can see here the fan speed seems to shoot straight up and then back down again.
My card has not been modified in anyway , neither have I fiddled with the card's BIOS.
Do you have any suggestions as to what could be causing this problem?
My signature should hopefully contain my system specifications. Card appears to be functioning fine in games and 3dMark and I have not had ANY TDR crashes, just this fan thing is getting quite annoying!
    Thanks.
    John

Sorry I must admit I must have not made myself quite clear, it is both fans on the GPU which rev up to very fast speeds for a second or two. I have noticed that this only happens within the first say 10-20minutes of the PC being switched on, it then calms down and acts as normal after a while.
Even loading with Kombuster etc fans rev as expected to a speed to cool the card (~68C FULL LOADING in KOMBUSTER) I am pretty happy that this temperature is what I should be expecting as various reviews say this card is very cool compared to say a Generic 580. I also recall a post of your's Svet somewhere saying that the card loads from 65-70 depending on operation and cooling of case etc.
I shall have to take the side off and inspect the LEDs.
