MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk Load Temperatures

I just got my MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk within the last week. It's a nice 37 degrees on idle but runs at 75 degrees on load with fans running at 70-76% taken from GPU-Z. I tried running it with the case open with a large fan blowing into the case but the temperatures only dropped 3-4 degrees to 73-74 degrees. Before getting the Hawk I read reviews that it should run between the low 50s to at most high 60s if the fan speed switch set to "silent". But for mine, the switch is set to "performance" but I couldn't get similar temperatures. Any help for my situation? :/
Oh yeah here are my PC Specs:
Intel Core i5-2500 @ 3.30GHz
Biostar TP67B+
MSI GTX 560 Ti HAWK with 270.61 Driver
Team Elite PC10600/1333MHz DDR3 8GB
WD Blue 500GB 16MB + Hitachi Deskstar 1TB 32MB
Dell U2311h
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio
LG 22x DVD-RW
FSP Aurum 600w
Coolermaster CM 690 II Basic
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
The ambient temeperature is around 27 degrees on average at night here where I stay and was 27 degrees when I took the readings.
All hardware is runnign at stock voltages and speeds, no overclocking has be done at all on any component.

  • GTX560 Ti HAWK Load Temperatures

    Hello.
I bought my GTX560 Ti HAWK one month ago. It's load temperatures goes up to 75c degrees on various games (Crysis 2, Battlefield 3 etc.).
Fan speed is on Auto and it only speeds up to %55. My case is HAF932, should have one of the best coolings around (In fact I haven't seen a better one so far). It has 4 fans, 3x23cm (front, side, top) 1x14cm (rear). Front and side are intake, top and rear are exhaust fans. There are 15cm gaps outside of rear and side fans. There is nothing heat producing near the case. The heater is at least 2 meters away from it. Room temperature is at 25c degrees.
The card quickly goes to 75 degrees even after 10 mins of playing so i believe this should verify it has nothing to do with case cooling.
My other hardwares are perfectly cooled. My overclocked to 3.2GHz Q9400 never goes above 50 degrees on load. Disks are between 30-35 degrees (Tough there are 4 of them, one is being an SSD, they may block airflow from front fan but i think the card gets enough cold airflow from side fan. I can feel the coldness when i hold my hand next to it). The PSU is on the bottom so this may cause extra heat for the card, but it doesn't really produce any extensive heat. (I can touch it at load without feeling almost no heat at all.)
Clocks are at it's defaults, and the default voltage is 1050mV. I've read some lower voltages by default, or lowered one's by users, like; 1020mV, 1000mV or 950mV. Some even say it's stable on 950mV so i thought of lowering it myself too but wanted to check with you and try other possible ways first.
Lastly, in the Aida64 (previously known Everest) there's a temp called GPU Ambient, I contacted to the developer and he said it equals to the memory temp on latest Afterburner (which the one comes out of the box doesn't show any temp other than GPU dioda.) And this one, memory temp, goes to 99c degrees on load.
My previous card HD4870 got burned after use of 2 years so I'm really worried about this and I don't want it to happen again.

Really? It may be fine for now but can you guarantee that it won't burn after it's 2-years warranty expired? Quoting from Guru3D's review: "The temperature under heavy game stress for the card load stabilized at roughly 65 Degrees C." There's no mention about fan speed, but it's said that the noise level is 42dba, so It should be close to mine. Now I don't know what (if any) was used as the case for cooling but I highly doubt it's anything better than HAF932's, which clearly seems not the issue here since the heat almost immediately goes there after a short time spent on load. I'd at least understand it if it didn't go above 70c, but 75 is a bit unknown for longer use. There's also memory temp, 99c is risky aswell. I know memory temps can be higher than others and memories can operate at higher temps, but I think it's still risky for a 3 or 4 years use.

  • MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk SLI Temperature too high

    Hi,
Two days ago I bought a second GTX560-Ti hawk (Twin Frozr III) to run in SLi with my other (the exact same card). I noticed that the VRAM temperature of one of the cards (I'm guessing the top one, but I'm not 100% sure) got really high. It got to something like 90 degrees celcius. Core temperature was ok for both cards, a little bit higher than when running a single card but I suppose that is to be expected.
Also when I stopped doing anything when it got to that temperature I noticed that the VRAM temperature wasn't going down very fast.
I've tried both cards separately and didn't observe those temperatures so I'm guessing the cards are ok. It's only in SLi modes that these have issues. I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction as to fixing this problem, as right not I cannot play any games because I'm worried that the temperatures will become too high.
    It's worth mentioning I have a MSI P67A-GD55 (B3) motherboard.
Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Actually I got a new case and put everything in and did as you said (switched the cards) and got no screen at all.
If I switch the cards to the original set up it works like I described before. I'm guessing the second card is faulty and I will RMA it.

  • MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk - can a pc case make a difference.

Can a PC case make the components sound worse?
I've got the Antec Def-Con 35 and the entire pc sounds very noisy - i mean i can hear the computer is switched on even from across the hallway.....I've got the MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk and according to many reviewers like http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4049/msi_geforce_gtx_560_ti_hawk_video_card_review/index17.html
the graphic card is a very quiet card with high performance.
Do you think another case can make a difference? My friends i7 with GTX460 in a NZXT Hades case has a very nice soft whoosh playing BC2 at full graphics while mine is definitely much louder.

I've had a 260 GTX OC Twin Frozr, 465 GTX Twin Frozr ll, 460 Hawk Twin Frozr ll and now a 560 GTX Ti Twin Frozr ll and none of then made much noise till fan speed went over 70-75 % running Furmark on them. In normal daily use the front fan in my case makes more noise than anything else in it. I would bet that all of those case fans you have are probably making too much noise. I have 1 front & 1 rear case fan and they are all that's needed to keep noise down & provide enough airflow for cooling my rig in the Cooler Master Elite 330 case. If your 560 is running to hot and the fans at high speed then remove the HSF on it and replace the TIM on it There seems to have been quite a few MSI cards that needed this done. I guess I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have that problem.
Take a cardboard tube like what paper towels come on and isolate what fans are making the loudest noise.

  • MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk - i like it now....

For the first in 2 weeks after getting the pc i'm liking my system now. Initially i had a noise issue with the MSI GTX 560 Ti Hawk - it was running very noisely - like a vacuum cleaner after 10-15 min of BC2. what is my solution?- I've used Afterburner to undervolt by 100% and also decreased the clock speed to something 700+.... and it's running at approx. 62-63 celcius with just a constant low frequency fan noise. No more higher pitch helicopter taking off sound.....so the secret is undervolting and underclocking the card to get the quietness. Am i missing anything if i do that? How come no none has suggested it before - i've bought TIM (Arctic AS5) but think i'll hold back from using it first since i like what i'm getting now.
I've still got to play a bit more to see if the temp will climb together with the fan noise.......

    Quote from: Newbie121 on 30-October-11, 06:39:48
What did you mean MSI cheated??? Based on the Guru3D reviews the MSI GTX 560 Ti Hawk is the champion - that's why i bought the card in the first place - according to the reviews and numbers/performance the card WAS the best choice......but i'm still reading a lot of users complain about the fan noise & temps. Is this one of the most mis-represented Graphic card or are these normal responses from graphic card users.....do all graphic cards users report/complain about their fan noise/temps.
Nope. My old palit 460 oc was audible under load but its performance was within 5% of reviews.
So I was happy with that.
My card is so far off reviewed specs. I guess i'll RMA on Monday and hope against hope the next card can run at stock speeds at full load at less than 60% fan (that's all I want)

  • MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk - underclocking and lowering temp/fan noise

So the most common feedback about the MSI GTX 560 is that it runs hot and it's noisy.
What happens if i underclock via Afterburner? Surely i don't need it to run the card OC right there's plenty of frames available..... when i underclock i can't seem to notice any difference when i'm playing BC2. My frame rates are still approx 80-over 100+, that's high right?
Is frame rates the key factor in a smooth game play - what reduced frame rate should be be avoiding? Anything else to watch out for?
What else can i adjust in Afterburner to get the card to run cooler and quieter? - i read that i shouldn't reduce the memory speed though.......since that can slow down the processing.......

I'm no expert but I am having temp and noise issues with an MSI 560 card so I'm sharing what i know.
Overclocking is often a kudos thing.
The actual framerate increases are marginal unless you are hovering around the 24fps avg mark then juicing the card a bit can get you above 30fps mark ( a gamers minimum)
I to don't like to hear a hair-dryer in my PC when I game so to get the fans to go slower you need to make the card produce less heat.
Undervolting does not effect framerate , reducing voltage reduces heat but, if pushed to far, will cause games to crash out or artefact meaning you need to add a bit more back in.
Technically you can run the card at 99 degrees and you could could maintain that temperature at a lower fan speed than trying to run the card at 70 degrees.
You could try to find a stable undervolt (a good few hours of gaming with no artefacts of crashed) with every other setting at stock.
To find an acceptable fan profile you can run a game windowed (so you can keep an eye on temps) put lots of AA onthe game just to make sure the gpu is at 100%. See how high the temp goes, you can then find your optimum balance between heat and fan noise.
I personally want my card at about 70 degrees under load (allowing it to touch 80 on a hot day when playing games for hours)

  • Msi 560 ti hawk memory temperature issues

    Hello,
I have the same problem seen on this topic https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=160911.0. It was old so i opened a new one.
I'm searching for the bios mentionned in this topic because all links are dead.
The french support doesn't help me.
Could anyone share me the bios file please ?
    thanks

Can't switch to performance one: my MB, which is Asrock Z68 Extreme4 doesn't won't let me switch.
Performance mode = error code 62, which is= Installation of the South Bridge Runtime Services.
I upgraded BIOS on my board and now I don't have error code but only a black screen.
Still, it shouldn't matter weather it is performance on or not, my memory temperatures are like:
    - after boot: around 32
    - while playing for example Guild Wars 2 it goes up to 70 and around that magic number there is a sudden spike to 90 and it reaches 95ish
    - after turning the game off, temperature stays at 71
In order to go back to idle temperature 31 I need to turn my PC off and turn in on. If I choose reboot it stays at 71.
Contacted MSI official support, but I think it will take them a while to find a solution.
boot with silent, then within windows, switch to performance one and save the vbios,
    and upload it.

    HDD:2011 Seagate Barracuda 1tb
On the video card there is 8 red del light up(Bad?) and in the pc of my friend they were blue.Is it a problem of PSU?
Edit 1:I googled on internet and find nothing helpful so i decided to post in on the ''official'' forum

The only thing that was in my pc before i sold it was my PSU.
I just received last week from Ncix my CPU,8gb RAM and the motherboard.
The video card specs recommend a 600W PSU,but before buying a 700W PSU (just to be sure) i wanted to know if its really the problem.
I read on some forum that the led shows the power charge. So logically if its all blue its fine and if its all red its not?

  • GTX560 Ti Hawk running hot and loud

I just got my MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk yesterday to replace my EVGA GTX 260 OC. I've been playing Witcher 2, Crysis 2 and BFBC2. The GPU is going as high as 96C and the fans are running at 90-100% the entire time and incredibly loud. Performance has been fantastic but I can't see this as being normal nor good for the card. I've also tried the new 275.25 Beta Drivers with no changes. Any ideas, could my card be defective?

  • MSI GTX 460 HAWK Talon Attack beeps when is not on load.

    Hello!
Yesterday I bought MSI GTX 460 HAWK Talon Attack together with FSP Group EVEREST 85PLUS 600W PSU.
I put it all in my old PC, powered on, but then after a while (when started to install latest MSI drivers for HAWK) my VGA started beeping periodically. These are short beeps in not fixed time interval.
The most interesting thing is that when I put my card on load, the beeping stops - it beeps only when I am in windows surfing internet etc.
I have searched through forums and didn't find a clear solution to this problem, but most likely it is a PSU issue.
MSI states, that card requires 24A on 12V for whole system (Core i7 ...).
My PSU is capable of the following:
    Output Current:
     30.0A @ +3.3V DC
        30.0A @ +5V DC
        18.0A @ +12V1 DC
        18.0A @ +12V2 DC
        18.0A @ +12V3 DC
        18.0A @ +12V4 DC
        .8A @ -12V DC
        3.0A @ +5Vsb DC Standby
Complete configuration of my system is:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ (Will change soon)
MB: Asus M2N-E (Will change soon)
    RAM: 2 x 2 GB DDR2 800 (Will change soon)
    HDD: 2 SATA drives
    DVD: 1 PATA drive
VGA: MSI GTX 460 HAWK Talon Attack
    PSU: FSP Everest 85PLUS 600
Is there a problem with PSU or something else could be wrong?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi all !
I also have the annoying beep problem.
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a GTX460 Talon Attack and as soon as I entered a game I got beeps coming from the card. Tried a 3DMark and Kombustor, same issue. The PC is build by me, had a JeanTech 700W PSU and a GTX260 which gave me no problems, ever. As soon as I replaced it with the 460, the beeping started.
I returned it to the supplier and i got it back two days ago with the following message:
"Graphics card passes all Tests with no issues, Tests Run: Crysis WarHead, Furmark, 3Dmark Vantage, AVP, Lost Planet 2, Stone Benchmark MSI Kombuster, Resident Evil Benchmark, ATI Mecha, ATI Ladybug, "
(Graphics card passes all Tests with no issues, Tests Run: Crysis WarHead, Furmark, 3Dmark Vantage, AVP, Lost Planet 2, Stone Benchmark MSI Kombuster, Resident Evil Benchmark, ATI Mecha, ATI Ladybug, Streetfighter Benchmark and heaven benchmark tool, these were all tested at 1920 x 1200 resolution running maximum settings, tested on DX9, DX10 and DX11 where applicable, there was no issues apparent. There was no bleeping coming from the card)
    Regards,

So I bought a brand new Antec TruePower 650W as I thought maybe the PSU does not regulate the voltages properly. No luck, I am still getting beeps but it's very weird. In idle (browsing internet, watching a movie or listening to music) the card is completely silent and sits in 25-29 degrees. As soon as I enter World of Warcraft (for example) and the temperature rises, at 35-36 degrees, I get 4-5 beeps then it stays quiet and I can play normally. (1920x1200 highest settings)
When I get out of the game and the temp drops, again around 36-35 degrees I get 1-2 beeps and then it remains silent again. No artefacts, errors or freezes. (so far)
I have seen the round sticker "Warranty void if removed" on the back of the card but I haven't touched it.
I really don't know what to do with it at this point and it's a very annoying problem, I cannot play anything like this.
I don't want to RMA it again since it already cost me £30 (transport & testing) plus a brand new PSU. And I love the card, the construction, the looks and the fact that it runs so cold. I just want a "fix".
    Any ideas please ?
    My system:

    Zalman CNPS10X-Quiet
    Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Sorry for the wall of text and thanks in advance. I really hope someone has a solution or it's going to be an annoying Christmas. (I'm a technical PC engineer with a fixation for everything to go smooth)

    two things:
    First:
I noticed that the gpuz, report it when VGA is under load ( furmark )  the voltage  VDDC value the higher value is 0.96, is a low voltage ? 460gtx under load  must be near 1.02 ?

  • MSI N560GTX-Ti Hawk PerfCap with Dual Monitor setup

    Hi guys,
as far as I'm concerned, there shouldn't be a PerfCap when running a setup with two monitors on extend desktop setting, am I right? However, my GTX560-Ti does PerfCap and sometimes even does this while gaming (which is incredibly annoying). The only way to get it to clock up again is to reboot my PC.
My question is, why is that and how can I get rid of this behavior? I already tried updating the VBIOS but it didn't help.
    Thanks in advance
    Monsterkater

I'm sorry, I thought "PerfCap" would be a known term.
As the title states, it's a MSI N560GTX-Ti Hawk. The Card is clocking down, GPU-Z reports "PerfCap Reason: Util" which is, according to Google Search, because it isn't challenged enough. However, when running a dual monitor setup it should (again according to Google Search) always run at the default speeds (950/1050/1900 Core/Memory/Shader). I have updated my signature to show my system details as listed in the Posting Guide.
The temperatures under load are okay, the highest I have seen was 76°C GPU, 74°C Memory and 69°C VRM (all of them measured with MSI Afterburner). I have tried several drivers including Beta drivers and always checked "perform a clean installation". I also tried updating the VBIOS. I didn't know what else to try because Google Search doesn't yield much results for this.
