MSI GTX560ti TwinFrozr2 (SLi) - Plz FFS Help :)

**Problem**
MSI GTX560ti TwinFrozr2 (SLi)
Straight from box - never overclocked anything tbh
275.33 Drivers
Samsung SM 2693HM 26"
Corsair TX 850w (recommended)
Win 7 64bit Ultimate
Other system hardware:
Intel 510 "Elemcrest" 120Gb SSD

2x Pioneer DVR-261DBK 20x DVD RW SATA
6GB (3x 2GB)Corsair Dominator TR3X6G1866C9DF 1866Mhz
Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem)
Creative X-Fi Titanium Sound Card
Coolermaster Haf X Full Tower
Corsair Hydro H70 Liquid CPU Cooler
Gigabyte GA-X58A UD5 Mobo
Ok, until last week, I had a EVGA GTX295 card with no problems whatsoever but after installing the latest drivers - 275.33, completely at random times I would get the error: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. This generally happened when I played either Fable or Dragon Age 2. Got lots of artifacting, black screen, the error and the game stopped responding. It has also happened whilst browsing Firefox or simply opening a folder in my PC, but generally in games. Anyway, obviously searched the net for possible causes and attempted to fix but nothing worked. As I am Mr Impatient, I drove from the NE of England to Scan and bought 2 MSI GTX560ti TwinFrozr2 (SLi) thinking my EVGA card was faulty. Installed the 2 new cards, 275.33 drivers (without the nvidia update or HD Audio drivers), fresh install of Win 7, same problem. I have tested my system memory, 3 passes on each stick with no errors. The PSU is a recommended one, although it is 2 years old, possible decrease in power and peformance? I am thinking it must be a driver issue and will rollback to a previous version later tonight and see if that helps. I have also heard that a possible problem with stock voltage? I have never OC anything before so am a little wary of changing voltages as I am not sure how to do it without screwing cards up. In MSI Afterburner Core Clock shows as 2100Mhz, Shader Clock as 1760Mhz and Memory Clock as 880Mhz. Apparently certified voltage is 822mhz, Factory out of box is set to 880mhz, but have no idea how to change this and tbh I shouldnt have too after spending all this £ on hardware.
Rolling back to 266 or 270 drivers did nothing. Temps are fine using 3d Mark/Unigine Heaven although I am getting the errors in 3dMark. I now reformatted, yet again, installed all latest hardware drivers, Mobo etc and the 270 nvidia drivers and I am still having problems. I dont have the facility of trying them in another PC but have tested cards one by one in PC and still get errors. Rang Scan up and all I got from there techs was, "me and a mate are running GTX460's in SLi using latest drivers and we have no problems". FFS, all I want is this sorted out. I spend loads with Scan and Overclockers and tbh support is rather cr*p (not you OC ). They say it is not the drivers, ok, the ONLY change I have done on my PC was install the nvidia latest drivers on my GTX295 and thats when the errors started happening. New cards and same problem. I am seriously considering taking my PC down to them and getting them to see the errors and damn sort it for me :(
Further, memtestG80 and memtestCL both reported zero errors on both GPU's. Ran Unigine Heaven again and got as far as stage 20 and got error again, can hear the music in the background, system then crashes alt tab wont work, ctrl alt del wont work and reboot only option. 3DMark errored with some kernel error. Formatted again installed 266 drivers again same errors but this time when I try to update to 270/275 drivers I get a failed install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated guyz

Svet you were correct, I took the 2nd card out and ran Unigine Heaven and 3DMark and it passed twice no problems. Switched the cards over and I got the error within 20 seconds of Unigine Heaven and couldnt get past Test 2 in 3DMark, tried that one twice too and failed both times. Just spoke to Scan and they said bring it back and they will actually test the replacement card for me before I leave
Damn what a simple solution all this time :/

  • MSI GTX560TI SLI won't boot into Windows.

So I got my second MSI GTX560TI Twin Frozr II today, and I was really looking forward to some SLI action, but when I set up both cards, I can't get past the first screen that tells me to press F8 to go to BIOS. I can't access Windows Security Mode or anything, only BIOS. After that it reboots and does the same for an endless loop.
I can confirm that both cards are working as I have tried them both. It's not a defect powercable either, as I have tried all of them on one GPU and they seem to work fine.
I have also tried the bottom PCIE slot, and it works as well.
Any ideas on what might be wrong?
The rest of my specs: (Copypasta from another forum)

[GPU: MSI GTX560Ti TwinFrozr II] [SSD: Crucial C300 60GB] [CASE: Fractal Design ARC Mini]
Also, to confirm that the two GPUs are infact the same, I took these screens from nVidia control panel:
I can see that the Video BIOS is not the same. Could this cause any problems?
Also, when using ROG connect to read the post codes, the last thing it says before rebooting is something about loading VGA BIOS. What to do guys?

tell S/N of both cards and save both vbioses from each one of them, upload them somewhere and give a link to it.
Where can I find the S/N on the card? One of them has a sticker on the PCB with the S/N on it, but I must have removed it from the other one. I'll save the vbios once I get home and upload them here.

What psu do you have as well? Please include 12v rail ratings or a link to it.
    >>Posting Guide<<
I have a Silver Power SP-SS750W. I don't really know what 12v rali ratings are, but I guess you can find it in this review:
EDIT: Since I can't post external links for some reason, just Google "Silver Power SP-SS750M 750w Review" and the reviews should be right there.
Could it be the PSU that won't power both cards? Should I try to power the second card with an external PSU?
Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it!

If you creat a signature (in profile) it will save you having to type your spec's  out each time or us looking for it. Use mine as a template.
What PSU are you using ? Can you list the power output ? (writen on side of psu)
Going from your specs you listed your graphics card is very hungery on power so I would suggest your psu isn't up to the job under load.
Post the spec and we will know for sure.

  • Problem with MSI X58 Platinum SLI - IOH temperature !

    Hi guys.
    I have this PC configuration:
    - MSI X58 Platinum SLI ( Bios Version 3.8 - http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/6707/161020101249.jpg )
    - Intel Core i7 930 2.80 GHz box ( with Intel Turbo Boost running sometimes at 3.06 Ghz )
    - MSI GeForce GT240 1GB DDR5 128-bit HDMI
    - Corsair 6GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 XMS3 Triple Channel Kit ( sets to AUTO and running at 1066 Mhz )
    - Corsair CMPSU-750TXEU
    - Ordinary case ( http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/4200/161020101246.jpg & http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8480/161020101247.jpg ).
    - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
I bought my PC components 2 months ago, so they are new.
    Now, guys I think that is a problem with my motherboard. When I turn on the computer in Bios I have this temps: CPU – 30 C (86 F); IOH – 71 C (159 F); System 30 C (86 F) - http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/394/161020101242.jpg. After 2 minutes the temperatures are: CPU – 34 C (93 F); IOH – 82 C (179 F); System 41 C (105 F) and 2 more minutes later the temperatures are: CPU – 34 C (93 F); IOH – 84 C (183 F); System 43 C (109 F). After 30 minutes of doing nothing I have this temps: CPU – 35 C (95 F); IOH – 85 C (185 F); System 42 C (107 F) -
Guys it is normal with IOH temperature ? I am a little worried about it ( to be honest I am more than “a little” … I am worried a lot ).
Ok, I know I don’t have a good case but in 3 weeks I should receive this Thermaltake Spedo Advance Case (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1121&ID=1829) and I will buy a new CPU cooler ( I don’t know yet wich one – maybe Corsair CWCH70 or Noctua NH-D14 but I have to see the case first … to be sure there is a plenty of space for those coolers ).
Pls help me with that IOH temperature. It is normal ? What if I intend to make a little OC ( lets say CPU to 3652 Mhz and RAM to 1333 Mhz … but also I will ask for your support ! ) my motherboard will burn ?
If it is necessary I will contact my retailer and send him back the motherboard but … I like MSI a lot.
Thx guys for your support !

    Hey guys,
Here is a nice cheap alternative.
Here is my story about the same issue.  I found it after looking at why my computer freezes sometimes. Not very often but enough for me to do some investigation.   I noticed my IOH temp was a whopping 117 degrees Celsius. lol.  Surprised my mobo didn't burn out by now.  I wanted to evaluate the situation with the heat sink and decided to take it off.  After taking it off I found extremely crusty purple compound on board the chipset and the heatsink.  I took me FOREVER to scrape it off. it was almost like a cement which I found odd.  After scraping and cleaning the surfaces with alcohol, I placed some silver compound on and proceeded to put it back on.
Well, upon hooking everything back up I was still at 95 to 103 degs.   Now I started to really look at the options to replace this.  I had SLI config which means I had to do something clever with the southbridge as well.  A nice thermaltake chipset solution w/fan and a low profile copper southbridge with shipping was about 45 bucks.  Hmm ... This is a sure fix from the threads I have read and its really kid of expensive to fix a simple defect. the problem is not necessarily with the heatsink not being sufficient.  Its the combo of the compound used vs the amount of pressure applied between the heatsink and chipset.  It was completely unacceptable.  I knew this right away when I was watching the temp and then I would press on the top of the IOH heatsink and I would watch it drop another 15 degrees in less then 10 seconds. The springs are extremely weak and not effective at all in transferring the heat from the NB.
Here if my fix.  Cost me less than a dollar at the hardware store and it works ideal thus far.  Do this at your own risk.  Doing this will probably void any warranty too.   All my problems are solved and I am running at 57 degrees, YES, 57 degrees with the stock heatsink and no additional cooling.
For one scrape all that old crap off like I did. Apply your new compound. But when you go to replace your heatsink, use the following method.  The trick is to use metal screws with a mobo washer, original springs from the plastic studs and a nylon locknut.  Use screws that are the same diameter and length (maybe a tad bit longer) as the plastic retainer studs.  Also grab a few of those red nylon mobo washers too, were gonna need them as well.
After scraping and applying compound, reassemble as follows.  Screw with washer inserted into the back of the mobo so the threads are out front.  The plastic/nylon washer is betweeen the screwhead and the back of the mobo as a insulator. Put the heatsink on. With the threads thru the heatsink already, put the springs on and start spinning on the locknut.  I torqued the nut down on the spring until the spring almost became fully compressed.  The purpose of the spring here is really to prevent you breaking something and at the same time using the max force of the spring since it weak to begin with. Thats why we need to compress it down pretty much all the way. There will be little to no room in the spring at this point.  The heatsink at this point should be pretty solid to the board as well.  I noticed with the plastic studs before the heatsink would wobble if you gave it a little rocking back and forth before.  Not this time. Shouldn't move much if at all.  Remember not to torque down too much. You don't want to go beyond the springs compression. Even if you did by accident, its better then not using a spring at all. If you feel that it starts to feel tight when torquing, you torqued too far. Stop an backup a 1/4 turn or so.  It is also very important to make sure both torques are equal on both sides as well. Alternate sides when torquing down.  I could tell by how much thread I had left on both sides and by looking for any uneven sides.
To summarize, the compound is a problem no doubt.  After you resolve the compound issue, its all about the adequate pressure between the heatsink and the IOH.  Much like the amount of pressure needed between your CPU and your heatsink give or take. And the pressure that would be as an aftermarket solution like the thermaltake chipset cooler. You dont see cheesy springs on that.  Wake up MSI. Simpy using a more effective spring could save MSI some cash in the long run. I envision a leafsprin design like the thermaltake chipset one.  The heatsink design could be better, sure, but the design itself is not the problem. Replace the heatsinks if you would like to, if your overclocking and stuff.  Funny, this board I have is a refurb too and only had it for a few weeks. Figured they would have done something about it.
Sorry the pics are not the best. Here is about as close as I could get to the finished product

  • MSI GTX560ti Hawk low 3dmark11 score

I recently purchased MSI GTX560ti Hawk. I ran 3dmark11 on it and on performance mode, I only got P1650 score. The graphics score is very low and the FPS averaged around 6-7.
    Here is my specs:
    Asus P5Q motherboard
    Gigabyte Odin GT 550w PSU
    Intel Q9550 oc@ 3.67GHz
    Kingston DDR2 2x2GB @ 800MHz
    Intel X25-M 160GB SSD
    MSI GTX560ti Hawk
I know the package box suggested using a minimum 600W PSU but I managed to boot into windows and play games with my 550W. I can run Assassin Creed Brotherhood and Shogun 2 on very high graphic setting.
Could the very low 3dmark11 graphics score due to the low PSU power supply? Please help
    Thanks!

I just bumped the core voltage up block by block from +0 to +150 on Afterburner 2.2.0 beta 3.
I tested Heaven DX11 benchmark on all of those voltages and there were artifacts in all of them (running VGA default clocks). But there were less artifacts as the core voltage went up.
Is my PSU not supplying enough power?

could be , but basically should be more than enough if the stats can be trusted.
Test the VGA in another machine[who has a better PSU, with strong single rail] then see how its goes there

  • MSI K9 V2 SLI

Hi everyone, I'm new here and i need some advices/information, so i hope you can help me.
I have MSI K9 V2 SLI mainboard and yesterday i received a brand new unused Amd Phenom II x4 940 processor. According to msi, this one with the bios update should be working with my mainboard. The thing is, it's not working perfectly. When the clocks are setup to auto i recieve BSoD while booting win7 of all kinds (from page fault in non page area to usbport.sys error, every time it's different error), however when i underclock the cpu to  200Mhz with 13.5 multiplier = 2.7 Ghz (also working with 14 and 14.5 multiplier, but it's less stable) it seems that the system is pretty stable. When i start a game (for example bioshock 2/starctraft 2) it crashes after while. Can somebody tell me what should be the proper clock settings for this CPU on this mainboard or post at least some links where to find this information? Also can someone confirm me, that the HT(SB) link frequency is max. 1000 MHz for this MB.  I keep in mind that the mainboard is a bit older and perhaps it's not fully supporting this CPU, but i really would like to have it as much stable as possible. Thank you in advance.
P.s. English is not my native language, so if something's is not understandable, I'd like to apologize in advance.

    Please help me.
I have 2 charts MSI 8600 GTS SLI. Only one is recognized in NOT SLI.
The ESATA_LED1 is extinguished, in SLI or NOT SLI.
The LED 1,2,3, are lit, in SLI or NOT SLI.
In SLI the switch card is in SLI Mode (x8/x8) and SLI Bridge Card is clipé: the LED6 is
extinguished, the LED4 and 5 are RED and the chart in slot PCI_E4 EAST
    is perfectly RECOGNIZED.
In NOT SLI the switch card being in (not-SLI Mode (X 16) the chart in slot PCI_E4
    does not appear nowhere.

    - the second PCI Express x 16 slot (PCI_E4) is a special design that supports PCI Express x 8 mode only.
    - the second PCI Express x 16 slot (PCI_E4) only supports to install graphics card in SLI mode.
Is this possible that one can exclusively use this motherboard only for the SLI system?.
And no for 3 or 4 screens ?
I say you a new  big thanks for your respons.
    armand
Yes its only for SLi, read the second line carefully:
the second PCI Express x 16 slot (PCI_E4) only supports to install graphics card in SLI mode
My board, P6N SLi platinum, has the same, I too can only use the second slot for SLi.
Inserting a card and not using switchcard results in no show for second card.
And if I do use switchcard and use another graphicscard, say a 8600GT in slot one and a 8800GT in second slot, results in BSOD or blank screen.
Maybe someone else here knows how to use 4 screens on your P6N SLi V2, if thats what you want.

The "distortion" as you describe it is static interference that goes through to the amplifier, due to the fact that you do not have a correct connection. If the connector does not fit, do not try to force it.
I would leave the case connectors unconnected for the moment, until you get sound through the spdif out. What type of connector is it to your speakers?
you are correct sir! i did some more research with different keywords after i posted my last post and realized that i needed a 1/8" stereo to RCA converter, so i hopped over to radio shack and purchased the little connector for 4 bucks and plugeed it in and walla. Thanks for the help though.
also to the guy with the link to the front case connections, thanks for the suggestion, i had all of my audio ports connected so that wasnt an issue, but thanks for pointing that out.

  • MSI Z77A-G45 SLI

Hi, guys. Can somebody say to me. Does SLI realy works on my mainbord MSI Z77A-G45? On the my mainboard I saw "SLI ready", on the official site MSI I saw SLI ready too. But in the Basic Specifications on the site MSI  I don't see "SLI". Please help me to find truth!

Even the product site lists SLI also in Basic Specifications (http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-G45.html#/?div=Basic) as it says "SLI - Y" and Y means Yes.
    Overview also lists SLI: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-G45.html#/?div=Overview
So yes, Z77A-G45 supports SLI in a X8/X8 configuration using the Gen3 slots.

Your problem is most likely with ASUS, if both Gainward & MSI 560 Ti won't work then it's probably not the VGA cards, it's bad ASUS BIOS or problem of some kind with your MB. We can't help you here with it. You should still test those 2 560 Ti's in another PC.

  • Msi K9N2 Platinum SLI and Windows Server 2003 r2 32 bit edition

Does anyone know or have tried to get this board to work on server 2003 32 bit edition. I seem to get past the raid part but the realtek 8211bl and audio are giving me fits. Any links to good drivers would be appreciated.
    Spec of system:
    Amd 9950 Quad
    4 gig memory
    Msi K9N2 Platinum SLI
    2 500 gig sata

Ok overall solution this board works awesome with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2 with Sp 2.
Here are a few tricks for the Co processor controller, Sm Bus, Audio and finally the networking controller.
When you finally get windows loaded. Make sure you put Service Pack 2 or 3 on before u install drivers.
The raid drivers are simple for the 32 bit version use the xp ones and load both raid drivers during setup. Requires 2 floppys or Slipstream disk.
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=driverfile&dno=7067&i=2
Once you get windows loaded and Sp 2 or better on. Stick in your windows vista driver disk in. Once there do not install anything.
Goto device manager and update drivers on all that are with the yellow ? excpet the networking drivers and just do an automatic search and boom your done. It will also ask you if you want to enable your audio at this time. Do so but do not reboot untill u finish installing all drivers but networking. Than reboot pc
Last part is for networking card. We need you to be in safe mode for this. So once u install all drivers and start reboot hit F8 and goto safe mode. Once in safe mode take out vista driver disk and put in xp driver disk. Goto device manager and update driver on network controller and let it do an automatic search and it will installl it. It will say it needs to be rebooted to work. Go ahead and reboot and your networking card will work.
Probably simpliar solution. But just wanted to give my help.

  • Memory not recognized on MSI Neo4 Platinum SLI

I just installed another 512mb of RAM on this system:
    MSI Neo4 Platinum SLI
    2 x 512mb Corsair XMS XL PRO
1 x 512mb Corsair XMS XL (the one that doesnt work)
    IDE HDD
    Windows XP PRO
BIOS, and every program i run that can see system specs shows that the infact all 3 Sticks
are recognizable. Though...Windows and a program that shows me my physical memory max both
point out i have only 1 gig of RAM!?
It's there, just not being used?
Now the only difference with the XL version and the XL PRO version is the heatspreader,
everything else is the same....so nothing should be conflicting.
Since the computer somehow knows all my part's details..im thinking just because
the new ram doesnt have PRO that it may not be recognized to work together.
Even so...ram should downclock etc with this motherboard...so this stupid little name
issue shouldnt cause the computer to ignore the ram!
I tried switching DIMM slots, no luck.
    Any ideas?

    It's a AMD64 dual memory channel system motherboard/CPU.
    Valid memory populations are
1.stick in one of the channels .(single mode 64bits)
1.stick in each channel .(dual mode 128bits)
    2. sticks in one of the channels.(single mode 64bits)
    4.sticks ,2 in each channel.(dual mode 128bits)
    3 sticks is n/a.
The population on memory controller , it's initialization and modeselection , single/dual mode is chosen by the A64 cpu.
It's been said that later rev.E cpus can autoselect unmatched population between channels (of e.g 3.sticks) and
set the whole memory pool in single mode.
But i have never seen anyone successfully test/run it .

it sounds like a fualty installation of Lion, this may happen from time to time.
The best thing to do in this situation is to reinstall Lion. You will not loose anything doing this, but you should always keep back ups of your information.
    http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
    basically hold Cmd+R on boot..
first go to disk utility, verify and repair your disks and permissions. Exit out of Disk utility and then go directly to "reinstall Lion"
choose that and let it reinstall.
Adobe CS6 does need Java to run.
To play your movies you might need to get an application called VLC. VLC is a free app and will play most videos and music files you throw into it.

you have a 64bit intel mac, so get the one for that.

  • Plz plz sumone help me my iphone 4 factory nulocked plz, plz plz sumone help me my iphone 4 factory nulocked plz

plz plz sumone help me my iphone 4 factory nulocked plz

If you are asking for someone to help you perform a factory
unlock on your iPhone 4, no one here can help you.
You must contact the Carrier to which the iPhone is locked and see
if they offer unlocking and if they do, what the procedure - and cost if any - is.
If your iPhone is originally from the US, sell it and buy a new
iPhone locally. AT&T and Verizon will not unlock iPhones for
    any reason.

Plz someone help I made custom ringtones and when I try to put them in my iPhone 4 it hey appear gray on iTunes and won't go on my phone and I tried syncing it don't help what do I do???!!!

The ringtone file format is m4r.  You can create ringtone from any of your music file in your iTunes Music library.
    Follow steps as follow:
    1. Right mouse click the song in music library you want to create ringtone and choose “Get Info”
    2. Choose “Option” Tab, Check “Start Time” n Stop Time” of the track you want to make into ringtone and put in your start time and end time (Max 40 secs duration), then click OK
    3. Right mouse click the music file again and choose “Create AAC Version”
    4. You will see a copy of song with same name appeared but with 40sec duration only. Now drag the song onto your desktop and you will see the name is now xxxxxx.m4a.
    5. Change the file extension m4a into m4r from the desktop
    6. Delete the 40sec m4a file from the music library (You must do this step or Itune will not accept your new m4r file).
    7. *Important - Now uncheck the start n stop time of the original song so that you can play back full length.
    8. Now, drag the m4r file from desktop to Library
    9. Click onto the Tones under Library, and you find you ringone file.
Note: Just in case you cannot "Create AAC version" from Step 3, go to top menu, click "Edit", "Preference". Under "general" Tab, click "Import Settings", make sure under Import Using that "AAC Encoder" is selected.
Once you have ringtones in Tones library, you can sync ringtones over by connecting your phone to PC, select iPhone under Devices on iTunes left Pane, then go to 'Tones' tab and check SYNC TONES as well as the ringtones.  Click the SYNC button on the lower right window.
