MSI GTX660TI Power Edition problems

Hi all,
I have a problem with Battlefield since I have installed my new GPU the MSI GTX660TI Power Edition.
I have a Acer Aspire i7, with 6GB memory and a Corsair GS 800W, Windows 7 Home Premium
Since I have installed my new GPU my game freezes and my systems tells me that there had been a problem with the Nvidia Windows Kernel mode and that it has been restored.
It happens with both BF3 and BF4....while typing this topic message the same thing happens.....
It also says Directx error....but I have the latest drivers....
Could it be the Bios, mainboard or is my GPU not working as it should?
Thanks for your help.

  • PC suddenly restarts while playing games MSI 660Ti Power Edition OC 2GB

    Hi,
I have the following problem since I replaced my graphics card (before 9800GTX+, now MSI 660Ti Power Edition 2GB) I got 3 random restarts while playing games. The computer is not overheating, the CPU's temperature is around 58-59 degrees after running prime95 for 3 hours. The graphics card temperature is 70 degrees after running furmark for 1 hour, the stress tests never failed, just when running games. The computer has been stable. For case cooling im using (2X12cm front, rear 1X14cm below 1X12cm and above 1X12cm +1 X14cm).
I got two random system restarts while playing Doom 3 BFG and one system restart after playing Wolfenstein for 4 hours. The PC just restarts itself.
What could be wrong? I have no more ideas? Should I replace the CPU cooler (im running the stock CPU cooler but all stress tests dont show overheating?!)
Is it possible that the PSU is the reason, but it should be strong enough ...
    The system:
    GA 870A-UD3
AMD Phenom II 1090T (cooler box)
MSI GeForce 660Ti Power Edition OC 2GB
    12GB RAM (12GB Kit 3X4GB DDR3 Kingston Genesis 1600)
    Samsung 256GB 840pro
    WD Blue 500GB
    Thermaltake Thoughpower Q-Fan 750W PSU
    Housing NZXT Source 210 Elite
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    Thank you.

The temps for the graphics card are quite normal. I have the same one and under load it will go to 70 to 75C, depending on ambient. What Nvidia driver are you using? Did you do a new driver installation?
If I look at your CPU though, then you are very close to the max CPU temp and throttling may invoke the shutdown    http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=640&f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=&f6=&f7=&f8=&f9=&f10=&f11=&f12=
    62C is max.
Could also be your PSU that's not completely stable and continuous power draw may cause Overcurrent or overtemp protection. Speculating here as to probable causes.
Another possibility is your RAM. That should normally be paired in 2's. Have you tested with only 2 modules ? Remember we don't support that MB here, but its just another test I would run. But you would know, probably having run it like that with the previous GPU.

  • MSI GTX570 POWER EDITION helppp

Hi, I just bought my MSI GTX570 POWER EDITION from amazon. And it seem to be some problem about this card. It runs poorly on the 3d mark11. And on starcraft2 it recommend the setting to only "meduim, suggested for 258VRM" but aren't the gtx570 is equipped with 1280VRM. Is there something wrong with my card? I have updated all the newest drivers already.

It's not low, as you can see the most people with the same card has the same scores and they are into the same big graph as you

  • MSI 670 POWER EDITION SLI HELP!

Okay so i recently bought another MSI 670 Power Edition card. I loved my original and wanted a bit of a performance boost.
    I run a MSI Z68 GD80 G3 mobo with i7 2600K. 16GB of Corsair Vengeance memory.
So after a few days of testing i get about 10-20fps increase in certain games. Now after comparing my PC to other Computers with similar specs and my cards are faster than theres.
I am not getting that much of an improvement as i should.
On unigine Valley "Everything max at 1920x1080" i get a score of 2333 thats with both cards. To me that seems rather low or am i being silly. Also i was watching a video of a guy running the Metro Last Light benchmark and he was hitting over double what i had in terms of FPS.
Then i read that it could be because i have a sandy bridge and it doesn't utilize PCI.E 3 correctly. Any help would be awesome THANKS :D

As flobelix stated before, you are limited to PCI-E 2.0 because of your Sandy CPU.
Talking about bandwidth, SLI with PCI-E 2.0 x8-x8 is the equivalent of PCI-E 3.0 x4-x4.
Not very good, but not very bad either.

    Your scores are ok.
With a better CPU (i7 3770K), the scores are around 2200 (single) and 3000 (SLI).
Those with higher scores have overclocked GPUs (and CPUs).
Tomb Raider is one of those few games with great SLI scaling (most of the games are not).
As you can see, you get a 70-75% boost in this game.

  • MSI 7750 Power Edition OC.. Overheating .. please help.

i bought msi 7750 power edition. it's idle temp remains constant at 39` and while playing games like darksiders, temp reaches 79` even with moderate or low settings. the fan on such temp reaches max speed .. 99% and makes it really noisy. is the temp normal or is there any defect wid my piece ? .. Please Reply

Temp is absolutely normal under load. Anything below 9ß°C is nothing to worry. Try using Afterburner (>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<) and start Kombustor out of it to check tempa under maximum load.

  • MSI GTX580 Twin Froxr III power edition problems.

Hello last night i kinda played around with afterburner and checking it with Kombustor, doing some testing in various benchmarks, at one point it said gpu throttling -3MHz
The card never exceeded 63 degrees C no artifacts at all, so now when i push reset on afterburner it goes to stock settings only kombustor shows throttling -3MHz but at 803-841 on core and 2005-20025 memory it shows no such thing but sometimes oc doesn't seem to get me all that better results, well the highest i got in heaven is 1377 stock 1260 something.
Can i have damaged the card even though it never was getting hot at all?
I am  noob at OC but i know something about it and i know as long as i don't meddle with voltage  i can+t really burn the card and also i use 70+% fan speed on the card when oc´d/gaming
have i really hurt the card?
    since combustor/furmark shows797/800, GPU-Z 800 core afterburner shows 800MHz core 2004 memory

Quote from: flobelix on 03-August-12, 04:37:42
797 to 800, yes. As far as I can see MSI says 800Mhz and not 810Mhz (http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N580GTX-TWIN-FROZR-III-15D5-POWER-EDITION-OC.html)
      Yep!
Oh yes, almost no game is currently more stressing than BF3.
so i see now that i looked at that link it shows 800 mybe i looked at another oc´d card adn got mixed up
i also wonder ewhen i raise the clock to say 846 adn memory to 2036 i sometimes get lower rsults on heaven for example than if i just oc it to tiny little 810mhz core and keep memory at 2004 how come it goes that way?
i also wonder there is a bios for my card on MSI website but i do not know if it is newer than the one on the card, it said something about stability
and thank you now i can sleep alot better knowing it is ok :D

  • MSI R7850 POWER EDITION 2GD5/OC vs TWIN FROZR 2GD5/OC

I had to do an RMA with MSI for the R7850 POWER EDITION 2GD5/OC I had, and it turns out they don't have anymore inventory of it, so I'm accepting a R7850 TWIN FROZR 2GD5/OC as a replacement.
The only differences I can spot immediately are that I may lose voltage control, the Core clock comes slightly lower, and the heatsink is model III instead of IV.
I imagine I can just overclock with Afterburner if needed to up the core clock; I'm wondering if voltage control could also be unlocked though? Also is there any other difference that I should be aware of?

general difference between Power Edition and models with Twin Fozr,
is that Power Editions has Enhanced PWM Design and offers triple voltage control [compared to regular model: + memory voltage and + Aux voltage]

  • Core2Quad Q6600 on MSI 975X PowerUp Edition problem

Hello. I have a problem that is bugging me for about one month.
I have this configuration with an Intel Core2Quad Q6600 on a MSI 975X PowerUp Edition mainboard, with 4G Ram memory from Kingmax (4x1G DDRII 800 MHz) <The mainboard has the latest bios version 7.7>. I am running on Windows Vista x64 OS and I always get a blue screen after a nonequal period of time. I have remarked that usually it happens when running a media file (e.g. movie, DVD, play mp3) and downloading something from the internet. If I only do one type of operation at a time nothing happens, but if I do both types in the same time... in crashes. I can't figure out what may be the problem I've ran 32 memtests (one with v1.70 and one with v3.4) on each memory on each slot (4 memories x 4 slots) and got no errors. Of course than I ran one single test with both versions of memtest with the full 4G installed and got a lot of errors only on test 8 of them (regardless of the relevancy of 4G on a memtest that is on 32bit).
I also gave a memory test from the Windows Vista x64 DVD and the system hangs at 37% for hours. I checked the HDD and has no problem.... Now I don't know what else to test anymore in order to see what may be the problem. Is it somehow a problem from the processor?, any incompatibility in the system?
I saw that when making the regular updates for windows, on one particular update the system crashes giving me the same BSOD that bugs me (note thet the system does this problem imediatly after a clean install with no updates, and after the updates are installed)
I've installed windows about 5 or 6 times on this configuration. Not once crashed or hanged during installation and in windows... in applications, never hanges or crashes into the same applications... they work just fine... only when I am using some media and downloading.... it happens at a total random time between a few minutes and even one hour. Sometimes if I am lucky I watch an entire movie while downloading and nothing happens... I just don't get it.
Ah.. and when I get BSODs it never is the same error. Or it's a memory adress (stop error 0x0029940<random at adress 0x41625753<random), or it's a win32.sys, or it's a ntfs.sys, or some other file stored in windows directory.
Please tell me what should I try? any DOS or Windows programs that may stress the CPU in order to see if it's OK please just help me somehow, any ideea will be good.
I wonder if anyone from MSI could give me a hint or at least tell me about a software they use currently in order to debug a MB problem (if t's possible to do so).
    Thanks

  • MSI GX623 power supply problem

Hello. About a year ago I bought the GX623. I just love this laptop, but few problems occured recently. When I turn on the notebook and it fully loads, the brightness keeps showing on and off like putting in or out the ac cable into the laptop(while the cable is put in the laptop and not even being touched). And the battery icon in the bottom right keeps turning into plugged in and then again into battery for a long time. This continues for about 10 mins. Then it switches to plugged in like it should be(and the brightness icon dissapears). The computer then works fine. Disconnecting and connecting the cable doesn't help during this madness. And touching the cable, moving it near the plug doesn't help. It doesn't seem to be the switch-plug problem. Also sometimes when I turn on the pc(with the cable plugged in), it doesn't keep turning into battery or plugged in versions, but just stays in the battery mode and the battery light turns red(the indicator shows that the battery is fully charged but will only last for 4 minutes). Maybe somebody had a similar problem and might now the solution? I am thinking that this is the AC adapter problem. Or maybe  it's my software? Btw I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. Thank you for the help.

Not plugged: works just fine on battery mode.
Now I took out the battery, plugged in the cable without it and the computer works just fine. But I really don't get it. It seems that when my laptop is cold, like in the morning - it starts to do these things. Like today, when I came back from work. Now when it is hot, it has no problems(like when I restart the computer or turn it on again). The other day I tried to turn on the computer without the battery, just the cable plugged in and for the first time that day(when it was cold). It didn't turn on, the battery lights just kept blinking on and off like there was bad contact. With the battery and the cable it turns on in battery mode and only after sometime switches to plugged in mode(with all that switching from one mode to another all the time like I wrote earlier).  Tomorrow morning I'm gonna try to turn it on when it's cold only with the wire(no battery). If it doesn't work - something is wrong with the AC adapter or the cpu inside... Also tomorrow I'm gonna get a similar MSI AC adapter from my cousin. If the notebook works fine with it - my AC adapter is bad. If not - cpu problem for sure.

  • MSI 670 Power Edition -- need to disable the Dust Removal

I just bought a 670 PE and I wish to disable the dust removal because, having a filtered case that's quite free of dust, it is of no benefit to me and only an annoyance (my system is very quiet, having the fan spin that loud is ridiculous).
It sounds like in the past there was a BIOS on the German website that did this, but I no longer see it there (I tried the one that is listed in the BIOS section there and it does nothing different).
Does anyone happen to have that particular BIOS? Very surprised that MSI does not officially provide this.
Also while I'm at it, has anyone solved the issue with these cards throttling when overclocked? Changing the power limit seems to do nothing. I'm pretty sure it's a BIOS issue.

  • Msi R7770 power edition 1GD5/OC dual monitor advice

    Hi guys
I'm hoping someone can assist me. I have the msi r7770 graphic card installed on my pc. I would like to set up my first dual monitor display, but I am unsure what cables I need to connect two screens with and which two of the three ports on the graphics card to use.
Can anybody offer me some advice.
    Peter

ok the card has 3 ports! any 2 of the 3 in combination should be perfectly capable of outputting a dual monitor setup!
DVI-I - thats the blue one and has digital and analogue pins
    HDMI - Standard HDMI connector
Display Port - High Bandwidth Display signal output
usually with a card like that the best way to hook up 2 screens is 1 to the DVI-I and one to the HDMI port but if one of your monitors has a display port in on it use a display port cable as that port has much higher signal output bandwidth!
its hard to say what the best way is unless we know what monitors your planning to use?

I recently bought the MSI R7850 Power Edition 2GD5/OC. I have installed amd catalyst 12.10. This does not happen regularly, but quite a few times.. i have uninstalled and re-installed the same catalyst version twice (downloaded from different sources - one from msi and the other from amd). • MSI Z87-GD65 SLI problem

I have been using the z87-gd65 motherboard with an msi gtx 770 since they both came out, and they have both been working great.   I recently just purchased a second msi gtx 770 for SLI, however when I enable SLI, and try to play ANY game it will either crash immediately or run the game and the screen will flicker very bad.  Both cards are functioning great if used individually as a single card. Has anyone else run into any SLI issues with this motherboard?   Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
so far some of things I have tried to no avail are...
    -updated motherboard bios
-updated both video card vbios individually
    -tested each card individually
    -tested each pci-express slot individually
    -replaced SLI bridge connector
    -reset BIOS defaults
-tested all available nvidia drivers since the gtx 770 was released
-swapped power supplies (both are 850 Watt with 70+ on the 12v rail)
-changed various game tweaks/profiles and vsync options at different refresh rates

If you need to raise the voltage to run at default speeds, the card is most likely defective. A vbios update sometimes helps, but it should work at default settings.
I had 1 ASUS 660ti OC version, had this for a year and worked great without any changes (updated vbios it cause of GOP). 2 weeks ago i bought a second one, MSI 660ti Power Edition OC (also updated vbios cause of GOP). Tested the second one as single as well without issues and without any changes to the voltage.
But running it in SLI mode causes crashes, i personally thought because they are both overclocked and running in SLI that they need a bit more voltage. I've read this in a post as well and it surely solved my SLI crashing issues.
