MSI GX60 3BE only run PCIe 2.1 x8 5Gbit/s

Hello,
is it normal that the MSI GX60 3BE (8970m) run only with PCIe 2.0 x8 5Gbit/s?
Normaly is PCIe 3.0 x16 with 8Gbit/s.
GPU-Z and other Programs like HWinfo show the PCIe 2.0 x8 under full load of the 8970m
Is it normal or something wrong in Bios options like this:

The AMD Chip work only with PCI-E 2.0 and not with PCI-E 3.0.

Please answer the following questions, if you don't mind:
1. Will SSD or HDD with a height of 9.5 mm will fit the MSI GX60 3BE, or only 7 mm?
2. Is it possible to use RAID 0 with 2xHDD? Are the drivers are included on the DVD, so I can install Windows 7? As far as I know during the installation of Windows 7 you need to specify the path to the drivers for RAID?

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
But it is in fact a 2.5" SSD (no typo in my first post), but has only 7.5mm height. ((There will also be some 1.8" ssd models available in the future but I ordered the now available 2.5") ). So such an adapter will not help. For this mentioned SSD-bracket, I have to wait for my x200t being shipped (hope its coming soon) but I didn't see anything like that on any ibm/lenovo accessory page.
Edit: Kind of solved itself today when I got the SSD. It's in fact 7.5mm in height but there is a small 2mm frame mounted around it (which one could unscrew, if necessary). So in the end it's a "normal" 2.5" 9.5mm device

My MSI GX60 3BE comes without any OS like Windows 7 and Windows 8, but I'm using Windows 7 64. I have updated my BIOS after downloading it from MSI Download Section (click on BIOS tab, then on Win7 64 tab and download THIS BIOS file). I have used this manual to update BIOS.

Most likely, no. Usually a different Electronic Controller is used for the non-backlit and backlit keyboards.

GX60 3BE - Cinema, THX problems

Dear Friends
I own MSI GX60 3BE and Windows 7 64. On official MSI download section of MSI GX60 3BE for Windows 7, there are:
- THX EQ
- THX AP
...but after installation, there aren't working at all. Subwoofer aren't working as well.
I have seen that there are Cinema Pro for Windows 8 for MSI GX60 3BE. Should I download and install it even if I have got Windows 7 installed?
In the download section of MSI GX60 3BE for Windows 8 there are:
- Sound Blaster Cinema AP
- Sound Blaster Cinema EQ
I will be glad for any help and solution, how to enable subwoofer.

That's not such an easy solution. How often do you think they change the URL's or links even? I can't count on one hand how many times the Qualcomm/Killer Networks driver links (links to the driver site, not the actual driver link) has changed. Multiply that times the 10 different parts and then multiply that times the many different notebooks and it's still a ton of work.
I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but, and I hate putting it this way, there's a reason the notebooks are cheaper than most others with better hardware. Something has to be left out in some way. To me, personally, that's a premium service that I would expect from Sager/Clevo, Alienware, etc....where you are truly paying way more than the product is worth (IMHO).

N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC runs only in PCIe X16 1.1 Mode

GPU-Z shows me that my GPU runs only in PCIe X16 1.1 Mode. The System is a quite new Dell Precision T7910 with Intel C612 Chipset. A Quadro 4000 cards runs like designed in PCIe 2.0 Mode. In the next Slot it runs in PCIe x4 2.0, because its electrical x4 only. The GTX 680 runs there in PCIe 1.1 x4.
The strange thing is, if i start GPU-Z directly after boot, it show the card is PCIe 3.0 running in PCIe 1.1, some seconds later screen gets black for a part of a second, than its PCIe 1.1 running @ PCIe 1.1 .
Any Ideas ?

REmove nvidia drivers in safemode using >>Driver Fusion<< or similar driver removal tool. After reboot install current nvidia driver.
If no luck >>Clear CMOS<< of the board and retry.

New Build - evga nvidia geforce gtx 760 only running x8?

New build of x99s sli plus. Going mostly well, but I can't get my GeForce gtx 760 to run at x16, only x8.
Config:
MSI x99s sli plus
Plextor PCIe M.2 card
evga gtx 760 in top slot (only 1 video card)
32 gig 2133 RAM
Also have 3 additional PCIe cards: Firewire, SATA, Audio.
(4) HDD as RAID 10 in SATA 1-4
sata 7-8 ODD's
AFAIK, the video card should be running at x16.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Now we know why the vga is at x8. Your cpu just offers 28 lanes. No matter what card you use once E5 and E6 are populated lanes are auto switched for multi gpu. Use all x1 slots and the third card in PCI_E3

DVD-drive only runs at 1x speed

Hi
Im having problem with my dvd-drive. It will only run at about 1x-speed. Not just when reading a DVD-movie but also when reading data DVDs.
I have tried with two diffrent dvd-drives and they work fine in my other older computer but when I use them in my new computer they will only run at 1x speed.
I have one SATA hard drive connected and the DVD-drive is connected to the primary IDE port.
DMA is activated on the DVD-drive. I have also tried to turn that off but no difference.
What can I do? Any help is appriciated!

All threads appear locked and do not inform what MSI is doing on a global or local level.
Have emailed MSI UK but no reply.
Why are all threads locked, why no replies or open statement, this gives me no confinence in MSI or this site being fair.
Dont mean this to be pointed, but this is very worrying as a long time MSI customer.
If I cant get fair play then I have no option but to move to another supplier, permanently.
Its ok to make mistakes just be open and fair with your customers.

The only statement you'll ever see is what was posted by a third party site and linked in a thread in this forum. They made a statement in Chinese originally, it was translated, then another statement appeared on that site. Later it was removed or retracted because MSI decided to have the local subsidiaries handle the situation through the distributor channels or directly through MSI.
The message I recieved from a contact I know in Taiwan basically told me to tell users to contact their local reseller or MSI susidiary for a satisfactory resolution. I thought I made that clear in the thread I locked.
If MSI has or ever intends to make a formal statement, it will not be in these forums, so you're barking up the wrong tree. The best solution I can recommend is what's already been stated several times.

Only runs with "optimized" settings

Hi All,
I have a 1GB kit of dual channel Mushkin Blue PC3200 installed on my K7N2 Delta2-LSR. Everything runs great except for when I attempt to change the memory settings to something other than "Optimized". The computer will then lock up while XP Home Edition is loading. Memtest shows no problems with the memory. I have a Athlon XP 3200+ and an Antec SL400 power supply. Right now the memory is set up in a standard configuration and NOT in dual channel. CPU voltage is set to 1.65v and the memory is set to 2.6v. Other than this small snafu the system runs great. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
