MSI GX600 with Windows 7

Okay,
I have Windows 7 Professional (x86) from MSDN-AA. I've installed it on my GX600 laptop. Everything works perfectly except when I play games. If the game starts showing some nice looking effects Windows shows a BLUE SCREEN with some nvcpl or something like that problem. I guess this is because of the graphics driver.
I tried installing the latest GeForce 8600M GT driver from MSI's download section for my notebook, but everything is the same. So I went to nVIDIA's website hoping that by installing their drivers everything would be OK, but the strage thing is that when I downloaded the drivers for this card, the nVIDIA setup refused to install them because "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your currrent hardware.". On the supported notebooks section my laptop model is NOT listed as unsupported. And the funny thing is that during the early days of Windows 7 RC the graphic card was supported... even Windows Update autmatically downloaded the drivers.
I contacted MSI Support asking them for help but I don't know why they keep replying to me that my laptop is not supported in Microsoft's Windows 7 Upgrade Option (which I'm pretty sure is to get free upgrade from Vista to 7).
Please help?

I am not sure if it will work. I did try to use the one in laptopvideo2go.com. I downloaded the WHQL certified version of 8.16.11.8681 I think this is 186.81 windows 7/vista 64 bit. It didn't work. The only work around for this is that I have to uninstall my nvidia drivers and go back to standard vga just to have my display to sleep. This is really annoying especially with windows 7 removing the hardware profiles.
About overheating problems, I managed to get to run iAtkos in my laptop and I hardly hear fans go whirr. Checking for temps, it was about 47 c. Please take note that it was on a hackintosh and probably not fully utilizing the laptop's hardware.
I wonder who needs on check on this, if MSI, NVIDIA or Microsoft. Corporate accountability anyone?
Not too sure whether you guys are across this, and I know that the post is dead but..
The overheating problems are caused by a faulty graphics card send it back MSI as a warranty case using the support form and they should fix it. They fixed it for me

I had the same problem in my environment.
Here are the steps how i did solve this issue
Since VMM 2012 R2 Requires ADK 8.1 and this requires SQL 2012 Express.
In order SQL Server 2012 to be installed successfully .Net Frame Work 3.5 feature on Windows Server has to be enabled first, in this case it is not not being installed by ADK Installation wizard as a result SQL service fails to start, which results on VMM
    installation to fail.
Please try to enable .Net Frame Work 3.5 feature on Windows Server 2012 R2 before you install ADK 8.1

no, my shadowplay is disabled. but this is not the only game, every game crashes and i get the message "Display Driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 344.48 stopped responding and has recovered successfully". ryse son of rome, watch dogs, skyrim, far cry 3...all the same. one game that didnt crash is CoD MW. i was playing mp for a couple of hours and it all went fine but i was running that game on low so it didnt put too much pressure on graphics card. people say that uping the voltage on gc would solve that problem but im not sure how good that is for the card.
also i was monitoring the temp, once it crashed on 67 °C next time on 61...but it should be safe up to 100 right?

    Next post: Knowing Issues

    Knowing issues:
    1. Hips of NVidia drivers having issues with brightness or not recognising all graphic cards.
I found that only above mention version working with this laptop / graphic card. I had tried few versions from 178 to 306.97, regular, with WHQL and with moded inf and neither worked.
With generic basic adapter brightness and turning off screen by system working flawless, but you have just basic 2D functions. When you install version 257.41 driver working properly, you get all options and brightness working. However, diming and turning off screen by system not working.
Simple fix is to disable 'Generic PnP Monitor' in Device Manager. With this fix you are getting automatic turning off monitor by system, but losing brightness adjustment option.
My preferred option is with disabled 'Generic PnP Monitor'. Before disabling I had setup brightness for all power options to suit my needs and then I disabled 'Generic PnP Monitor'.
If I need to change brightness it is enough to enable 'Generic PnP Monitor' in Device Manager.
    2. Turbo button and all function keys working correctly with and without installed SCM, except for brightness if you have disabled 'Generic PnP Monitor'.
    3. If you decide not to install SCM as I, than you can use application 'KeyTweak' to assign any action to 'P1' button.

  • Msi GeForce 4 4200 frame rate locked at 60 with Windows 2000

Lost here..... I have an MSI Geforce 4 4200 120MB Video Card slotted on an Asus A7V motherboard - AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz processor with 640mb of ram.
There is a common problem with the Nvidia chip and Windows 2000 in regards to a lock frame rate at 60fps within games.
I've tried several programs to fix this i.e. "Refresh Lock", "Windows 2000/XP Nvidia Refresh rate lock", "PowerStrip 3.15" and "NVFresh Tool 1.0"
But nothing seems to work. I'm sure these program work with older Nvidia cards but not with GeForce 4.
Any Ideas? I even turned the Vsync off and on.

I give XP 2 more years before it's the OS for all. I've reinstalled 6 systems with Windows 2000 because of compatibility problems.)

  • Problem with MSI Board and MSI Geforce 4 with Windows XP

    I have a MSI 845E Max(MS-6566E)
                  MSI Geforce 4 - 420
                  Celeron 1.7 gig
                  Soundblaster Live
                  2 Network Cards
                  and the usual stuff.
I have loaded Windows 98 on my system and it works fine. But then I load Windows XP on and the system starts rebooting. After it reboots my video resets itself and I have to load it back in. I will then reboot and sometimes it will work, sometimes it will not. I try playing a game or even searching the net for awhile, but out of the blue the system will give a very quick blue screen and reboot. And of course when it boots up the video is reset. I loaded all the drivers I could find on MSI's website and used every video driver made by Nvidia and MSI. If I do a Windows XP update to my system the computer will not even boot up. it will just keep rebooting when it is trying to bring up the login screen.  Anyone else run into this with Windows XP?

My system sometime freezes. Why ???

  • I need help with my MSI Dragon edition 2 with windows 7 64 bit home edition

I recently got my laptop from Xotic PC with windows 7 64 bit home version which was free. The only problems I have for the laptop is that I can't detected the Nvidia Geoforce GTX 780m graphics card on my system or update it, games on steam tend to lag like Metro the last night which came free for me but even at low settings the lag was really bad.  Sometimes the screen starts flickering becasue of a display driver error after playing a game or closing a game. So if anyone can help me with these issues I would really appreciate helping me fix these errors.

Can I use 4GB RAM on my MSI K8N Diamond with Windows 7? I have put 4GB DDR 1 in my motherboard but windows 7 says (2.75GB usable)...
    Regards, Jay

It depends highly on how much hardware (add-in cards) you have installed. If you have two VGA-cards, then it's likely that usable memory stays below 3GB. If you take some hardware out, you will see the usable memory increase a bit, but you won't reach the full 4GB. It will go as far as about 3.25 or so.
