  • Bios file download is *.rar

I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but the bios download file for the MSI 7030 board is compressed into a *.rar file for some reason.  Winrar will compress into .exe .sfx, and .zip.  Since both windows ME & XP can natively handle .zip files, that seems like a more appropriate file type.
Anyway if this .rar is file not correct it's located here
    http://216.158.218.35/edoc/bios_uploads/7030v51.rar

I guess I'm not sure about the point either .  Except that I was looking through the bios flash directions to figure out how to back up my bios before I started flashing, and although the directions were kind of poorly cobbled together they did mention that the download would be in something like a .exe or .zip format. I wasn't sure if the .rar format was a mistake, just another inconsistency in the directions, or a correct file.
And again, since both XP and ME can handle .zip natively, in my opinion I wouldn't use a compression format that required people to go download a third party utility just to extract some files.  Anyway, that's just my opinion.

What is your current BIOS Version?  Please write down the full BIOS ID String (e.g.  W9228IMS.100 or W9628IMS.100).  It should be shown on the P.O.S.T. Status Screen right after system start-up, as in this example:
Also, please look for the serial number of your system/mainboard. Examples:
In your system, there are probably two relevant model numbers involved.  One is the model number of the whole system package and the other one is the model number of the board itself.  The product can probably only be found under one of the two numbers on the products sites.
We will know for sure, once we have the full BIOS ID String of the version currently in use and the serial number of your system/board.  There is also OEM-Versions of this kind of system and therefore, more than one BIOS-Release-Series is involved here (look here for comparison: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=130030.0 ].  That is why we need to gather some more information first so that we can point you into the right direction.

  • GTX580 Twin Frozr II OC BIOS File Help Please

Hii guys!  I just got my GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OC installed today and I'm really excited but I'm having a bit of a problem.
I've tried flashing the BIOS using the MSI HQ USB Flasher but the program says that the BIOS file I downloaded from the MSI website is not a valid file. Live Update 5 can't seem to detect my motherboard model or BIOS Version and, possibly, as a result does not find any updates for the card. Also, the MSI website mentions an EXE file that's supposed to be in the BIOS file archive, yet there is no EXE file in the archive.
I need to flash the BIOS (?) because my graphics card keeps crashing when playing games.  Most times: black screen, followed by the card reverting back to stock speeds. Twice, however, the screen got completely messed up and I had to hard reset the computer. That was when I set the voltage to 1150. And yes, even at stock speeds and the stock voltage (which is how I have the comp running atm), the card crashes.. just after a longer while. It's also not a heat problem because my in-game temps stay around 65ish.
I'm sure the rest of my computer is stable because most of the components have been replaced including the old PSU I had; to a Corsair TX 750W.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious, because flashing the GPU BIOS is new to me.
But, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot Svet! I was able to flash the BIOS without any problems, however I quickly returned to the old BIOS ROM because the graphics card was much more unstable with the "new" BIOS. (Which ironically also has a lower BIOS version number than the one that came with the card). Overclocking at all would really mess up the screen and at stock speeds (800, 1600, 2048) it would crash. I reinstalled Windows (went from 7 Home Premium x64 to 7 Ultimate x64) because it got messed up during some installations I was doing and now... everything's running like butter. :\
After booting it up, I reinstalled all my games and every single one of them runs fine. I still get some really bad FPS in Splinter Cell Conviction, which is upsetting because I was looking forward to maxing it out and playing it at 60.. but whatevs.
I've tested the card also using
Assassin's Creed (From 1 to Revelations)
    Battlefield 3
    Dragon Age 2
    Deus Ex: Human Revolution
    Crysis 2
    Saints Row The Third
    NFS Run,
    and Arkham City.
The card has a lot of trouble playing Arkham City with Physx on or with any of the DX11 features and I'm surprised I'm getting poor FPS at all in some games because I'm actually only using a 1600x900 display. I'm not complaining because all the other games run maxed out pretty well; and the card seems stable. I was also able to overclock it, which was tricky until I decided not to overclock the memory - so that the Afterburner values are 1150 (voltage), 900, 1800, 2048, 85 (fan). It looks like if I overclock the memory at all the graphics card crashes. Was a tad disturbing as I read that others have gotten better overclocks but... again, the important thing is that it's stable and running well. But, out of curiosity, why can't it overclock higher like others have managed to get it to?
    Two questions though:
I'm using Nvidia's 290.36 Beta drivers - is that okay? Or should I only use the drivers from MSI's site?
(To note, I've used all of Nvidia's drivers and they all appear to deliver the same performance across all games. By "all drivers" I mean the 280.26, 285.62, 285.79, as well as the 290.36.)
How long is the standard warranty on this card?
Again, thanks Svet for pointing me in the right direction.  :D
I'm even more excited now for SW: The Old Republic.
Aphax my GPU's serial number is "602-V255-060B1107208512" - why do you ask though?

  • MSI MSI DKA790GX Bios update problem

Recently set up a MSI MSI DKA790GX system with a new X4 940. Thing is it appears the bios is 1.2 which seems pretty old at this point. I've been trying to update to the latest bios (1.6 ?) but I can't. Live Update tells me there is a check-sum error. I assume the issue is with the 1.6 bios. I tried using the HQ USB Flashing Tool method and I got the same error. SO I got to assume that something is wrong with the bios file.
Has anyone else tried to update this board with the latest bios? Any luck.
This is annoying as I want to update the bios as I'm several revisions back and I want my new processor to be FULLY recognized.
    TIA

    Hi there @yasir_m,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you are looking for a BIOS image for your notebook. I am happy to help.
Please see the following softpaq download:  BIOS F.67A - sp69887
I had your other post merged into this thread, and the three flash codes is actually a memory issue. Please see the following showing the error codes and what to try.
HP Notebook PCs - Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps
As three is normally memory, try reseating the memory modules, and if you have more than one, try them indiviually to try to isolate if one is bad, or if is a bad connector, or if it just needed to be reseated.
    I hope this helps.

Next boot to cmos you may define/change to own preferences.

You're a legend syar2003! I thought I'd try v3.0a since v little is known about it and thanks to your efforts it's easy for me to revert back.
Just an initial observation on the 3.0a version - I've managed to get my 3700+ SD (E6 stepping) overclocked well beyond what I mangaged with bios v1.0. I'm now running at 2.9GHZ compared to the maximum 2.7GHZ previously - and i'm running the memory at 1:1 with the timings at stock! Seems stable enough in a windows environment (been running about 4 hours). Temps are around the 38 degree mark. I will run some Prime95 and a few 3d games over the next few days.
Thats very good , seems 3X bioses is better for overclocking afterall
Nice to be appreciated ,thanks for those kind words !
I don't have the Diamond + board myself so I can't really say if this or that bios is good or not and which versions is better or worse .
