  • MSI GX620 Cooling Problems

    hello everyone!
i bought my MSI GX620 notebook at christmas and till now everything worked really fine. about a week ago i noticed that games, after running about 15-20 minutes, start to run slower, feels like fps would drop around 20. my first thought was the vents got too much dust, so i removed carefully the back of the notebook, so i could clean the vent a bit, but still, i got the same issues. i checked with Everest, the GPU temp is 65°C (149 °F), the CPU temp is 55°C (131°F) while doing just simple browsing. this i think is just fine. but when i start any game ( with low PC requirements too ) the GPU has 91°C and the CPU is 80°C and the framerates just drop after 15-20 mins from about 60-100 to 10-20fps. and that just started some days, maybe a week ago.
can anyone tell me what should i do or try?
thanks , and sorry for my bad english
    snuzzie

I've been having the same problem with my GX630. The thing must be really clogged because it gets extremely hot after about five minutes of moderate graphics gaming and slows to a chugging crawl. I'm assuming that the plate on the bottom of your machine is the same as on the GX630, and is pretty large with a little indent for where it's supposed to come off. Did you manage to do this?
I took out all the screws and tried to pry it open but gave up for fear of breaking the whole dang thing.
    Anyone have experience doing this?

  • [GX620] MSI GX620 Overheating Problem

    Hello,
I have a MSI GX620 laptop and it overheats all the time when playing games (World of Warcraft)
When playing the laptop just randomly shuts down after playing for a while.
I am using a USB cooler to get rid of it but it doesn't seem to help in any way.
Can someone please help me to fix this overheating problem since it is very annoying and I just can't get rid of it.
It's been good for a week and now it just happens to shut down very often.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sam

Please note that Arctic Silver is slightly conductive. If you're going to use this, be VERY sure not to spill any or that you don't use too much.
If it does spill and gets in contact with the small pins around the core you might create a short circuit.
I recommend the following best tested thermal pastes:
    -Prolimatech thermal compound
    -Tuniq TX-3
    -Arctic silver 5 (slightly conductive)
    -Arctic silver ceramique
    -Enermax (Dow Corning TC-5121)
    -Thermaltake thermal compound

  • MSI GX620 notebook graphics card upgrade (HELP)

    Hello
first time sorry for my bad english.
     I have a MSI GX620 laptop with a nv 9600th
I thought to myself that I have a ati hd4670 of replacements.
but unfortunately not boot the notebook with the video card.
the notebook starts, but only up to the hardware id consultation.
Give it a possibility to modify the bios that the card is detected?
ie the white list table expand.

There is no whitelist for the MSI gx620. This model supports many many graphics card.
There may be a problem with your 4670 card. You may want to update the laptop BIOS however to that of the gt627 or possibly gx623.
I recommend you return the graphics card to the seller you got it from. You can get a new heatsink for better Nvidia cards like this http://cgi.ebay.com/NVIDIA-quadro-FX-2700M-512MB-NB9E-GLM2-MXM-III-/270729976730?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f08c39b9a which is like the 9700m GTS (good if not better) http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-Nvidia-Quadro-FX-3600M-MXM-512MB-Graphic-Card-/170612917606?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item27b9528566#ht_4888wt_1139 (like 9800m GTS, very good) http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-nVidia-Quadro-FX-3700M-1-GB-Video-Card-NEW-NB9E-GLM3-/370504497087?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item5643c9f7bf (the best, but will run HOT)
Or if you like ATI http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-M17-M15X-512MB-ATI-HD-3870-Master-Video-Card-/180661996018?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item2a104b49f2
The heatsink may be hard to get. I think I could get one for you tho, PM me if you're interested.

  • This is my experience with MSI, and their NVIDIA GTX 570 reference card.

Hello my name is James king.
and This is my experience with MSI, and their NVIDIA GTX 570  reference card.
(5/27/12) Day one. I update my driver from Beta 301.24 To WHQL 301.42. and as you would expect, it worked. so i restart and go play kerbal space program (if you haven't played this go, play it now i love it) 5 minutes later it starts artifacting, eg. textures stretching, random green spots. "ugh" so i start troubleshooting, reinstall revert and so on. later i give up and go play  Portal 2, i load the game opening screen i see lots (100-250) of little flickering green dots. first instincts says its the cable, test nope. then maybe the screen, test nope. i keep testing  throughout the night, to no avail.
(5/28/12) so to the internet, for help. 3 hours later nothing, but people with bad cards.                 at opening i call NVIDIA Tech Support, they say to call MSI so i do. 3 calls no pick up, 4th call      and i get a "Support technician" who is no help, says to fill out a RMA form online.                    and so i do more troubleshooting for the rest of the day. and i give up, and go to bed.
(5/29/12)  i fill out a RMA form, end of day i get an email from MSI that says; "Dear Valued Customer [email] your RMA is pending approval, and you will get an email within 1 weak with shipping information.
(6/1/12) shipping information, instructions, but no shipping label.
(6/4/12) i ship the card, via UPS
(6/12/12) after using the most round about route eg. it got to MSI.

(6/26/12) end of day. i receive the card, and see the case is badly scratched. i install it in my pc and hey it worked (for now). watch some YouTube, and go to play skyrim. start up load my save and i make one step, and my pc hard freezes. "sigh" half an hour later, i give up and go play minecraft 10 minutes in, and it hard freezes. so now more troubleshooting,5 hours later no luck.

  • MSI GX620 - can't turn on HDMI output

    Hi,
I have MSI GX620 with HDMI output, and Benq G2420HDB monitor with DVI input. I bought HDMI-to-DVI cable, but when I connect it between the laptop and monitor, monitor recognizes that it has been connected to DVI (it shows the message), but it also says that there is no signal, and turns off.
When I try analog laptop output, everything's working perfectly, I have the picture on the screen.
It seems that there is no signal on HDMI output. Do I need to turn it on somehow or what?
    Thanks.

So I just came back from a friend who also has a DVI monitor. The same situation there - when I plug it on my cable and laptop, nothing happens...
So, we decided to try installing the latest graphic card drivers... I went to msi site, and the closest thing I could find to my 64-bit Windows 7 were drivers for 32-bit Windows 7. I tried installing them, but they wouldn't install, because they are strictly built for 32-bit Windows version.
The next step was to go to nVidia site and try looking there. We found 64-bit Windows 7 drivers, installed them, but the situation is the same - still nothing happens on plugging in the DVI monitor...
    So, my guess is:
    1. I need 64-bit Windows 7 drivers for my graphic card but from from the msi site, because these drivers (when they come out) will probably support hdmi output, unlike regular 64-bit Windows 7 drivers from nVidia's site (do you think this makes sense?)
    2. HDMI is simply not working.
I forgot to mention that up to installing graphic card drivers today, I've had regular graphic drivers which Windows 7 automatically installed. So, maybe they didn't support hdmi, because they didn't come from msi's site (the same goes for the drivers I just installed - they came from nVidia's site, as I previously mentioned).
    What do you think? Thanks.

    Hi,
I have xp, I installed the chipset and the system control manager but the eco funtion doesn't work although the turbo funtion works.
    thanks.-
In some notebook models, ECO is supported in Vista only.
    Also ECO can be activated only when notebook is running at battery.{without AC}
However you can simply apply "max power saving" from power scheme will has the same effect.

  • MSI GX620

Hello, I have some trouble with my laptop ever since I bought it ...but because I love it so much I kinda hoped these problems would fix in time ...but that was just an silly mistake I made ...My first problem was the keyboard freeze issue that I solved thx to you by upgrading the BIOS, this second problem I have is very annoying...my display gets all wired (you see just lines and black)when I make a sudden move or just when I open my notebook and try to power on, usually this problem was fixed by trying to power again or if that didn't work I try to change the laptop-s position and power again, (this happened to me a dozen times...)I tough I got ridden of this issue because it was perfect for three weeks, but four days ago showed up again but this time was even worse, for three hours I tried to power it on but with no result ...so I Syd to let the notebook a little time maby it would come back, it didn't and for three days I hoped for my notebook to work again, I was so sad and was thinking that I have to give the notebook back for professional revision, I contacted the seller and gived me Somme MSI service telephone numbers, I had Somme work to do that day so I didn't call...the next day in the morning I try to power the notebook and aloha the MSI icon shows ...I was so happy!!!...and now ...I want to ask what should I do now, or what I should I NOT do,...still give the notebook to an MSI service, hope this problem doesn't occur again, or is there something I can do with my hand ...thx for reading and have an excellent day!

what u mean by "changing the laptop-s position"??
If anybody notice the cooling tube that attached to the GPU and CPU do have orientation preference, u can try to turn the GX620 90 degree and at the same time monitor ur GPU temperature it will fluctuated quite a bit (seem the cooling tube been detach from the GPU or something).
But most of the time when the laptop sitting flat it will be ok.
Hopefully what u're seen are cause by this and if you dare enough to open the casing the check on the cooling devices, if the laptop still under warranty just send it back for repair/check up.

  • Msi gx620 with intel core 2 duo , 2.0ghz, 800 mhz and 2 M cache ????

So this local store is going to get me an MSI GX620 with 2.0 ghz proccessor. It should be available in 3 days.
From what i know, this is supposed to be the Gx 620-018 with the P7350 core 2 duo proccessor because that's the only 2.0 ghz MSI gx620.
BUT the printed paper that has the laptop specifications, which the store clerk gave me, says:
intel core 2 duo , 2.0 ghz , 800 mhz, 2 M cache (does not mention the processor series name...)
bUT THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE because the P7350 has 3 M cache memory and more than 800 mhz...
IT also says that the ram memory is 3gb, which i know it's supposed to be 4 gb.
I'm confused...could it be a rip off, or just a stupid mis-print and wrong info about the the laptop specs from the store clerk???
    Thanks!

This is a user-to-user forum, nobody here works for MSI (that includes moderators and administrators).
What exactly do you expect us to do?  We do not know in which region you live, we do not know the store you have ordered the GX620 in, we do not know where the store is getting the GX620 from (certainly not from MSI, but from another reseller or a distributor (which we don't know) and we do not know the origin and the author of the piece of paper you got in that store nor can we be sure that the info on it is trustworthy.  This is a long list of uncertainities for starters.  All the GX620 that I have seen here come with a P7350, however, that does not mean, that in your area, this has to be the case as well.  Consequently, the only save way (without speculation involved) is to check the notebook itself as soon as it gets to the store.  Without further information we cannot tell you anything else.
    Quote
    I wonder who can???
The store should be able to call its reseller/distributor to check the specs of the GX620 they ordered.  If they are unable or unwilling to do that even though the information on the piece of paper they(!) gave you raises valid questions, the problem you have is obviously with the store, not with us here.  The specifications sheet for a particular notebook model in a particular part of the world should include the exact model name of the processor.  If that is not that case, somebody (the store, the reseller or the distributor) forgot to do its homework and if that was the case, how can anyone in here make up for that?  You could call an MSI distributor in your country to find out what variants of the GX620 they are putting on the market in your region.  However, this is still not as informative as starting the notebook to check directly.
I don't really get what you are so mad about.  You ordered a notebook in a store that is unable to provide you with accurate information about the product it is trying to sell you.  That us not exactly a very understandable reason to get upset in here, just because we can't verify the info you got either.

    First post, whoo hooo
So what version of BIOS are u running?  I recently installed the two newest versions 2.0 and 2.1, and they both give me problems.  With the latest (2.1) I'm getting the same error as you.  Returning back to previous BIOS fixed my problems.  Oh yeah, my RAM is Kingston Hyper-X, so i don't think thats your problem.
Let me know if you fix it, thats why im here, .

  • MSI GX620 display destroyed

Hello I have a pretty serious problem. I have a MSI GX620 laptop. For a long time I had a broken plastic frame (case) around the display and now I broke and right bracket frame and see the display. http://www.abax.cz/img/zbozi/2MSBL.jpg. Laptop is not under warranty since April. So I ask how much will it cost me a fix. THX Razormann

Also, MSI does NOT give warranty on plastic covers since the notebook is still functioning without them.

Any damage of covers or casing is without any doubt not within the responsibility of MSI, thus chargeable. It will only be repaired if the customer explicitly requests it, since that kind of damage does not affect system functionality or performance.

  • Power of the Press - MSI Neo4 SLI Bios Problem

For those interested, I just sent this to hardocp because they did the review on the MSI SLI Platinum.  Since MSI headlines this review on their website, maybe hardocp can do something about this bios problem.  Enjoy and please send more emails to hardocp so we can get this problem addressed!  Believe me, Ive seen this works with washington politicians, I know it can work if we all do it.
I appreciate companies like yours doing extensive reviews about products.  However, your review caused me and a whole bunch of others to purchase this board with enormous problems associated with it (check out the msi forums).  The problem is that this board works only for 130nm chips in which you tested on.  On the newer amd 90nm chips, this board is the worst performing sli board out in the marketplace (for both winni and venice core chips).  You need to do something to stop people from buying this board because its just awful and the folks from MSI are silent on the subject.
It's gotten so bad that people have gone out and purchased other sli boards, transferred all of the equipment out of it and into the new one and guess what...voila, no problems.  Anyway, some of those in the other user forums had the same problem but those other manufacturers quickly fixed the problem.  Its just getting worse and worse.  I feel like both msi (and I am MAD) and reviewers like you (unless you don't know about the problem) are silent on this and its cost me hard earned MONEY ($175 for the mobo) and hours and hours of time...
You have a LOT OF POWER with MSI and I can see it because they headline your review on their website (power of the press).   For Gods sake, please do something before others make the same mistake or if you can get MSI to allocate resources to fix the problem...you would be HEROs!  Thank you.

Ok, I guess I am confused some, where is the issue with the new cores? I have no issues running the San Diego core and the my memory at the listed and published speeds.....
    Quote
Also is your MOBO the SLI type? I run the SLI Neo4 with a San Diego core without any issues. In fact I dropped it in and booted using the San Diego as a direct replacement for a older (if 6 months is old!!) 3500. I have OC'ed with Corecetner as far as I can push it and runs awesome!
    Quote
GUys, I am not sure exactly what issues you are experiencing as there can be MANY factors! But my SLI Neo is running awesome! It overclocks (no Tiresmoke, i won't go into that in this forum  ) and has NEVER once BSOD, or rebooted or even crashed! Not once and I push the crap out of this as it is my gaming box.  Also TS you are SO correct on the clock settings on the ultras, you gotts make sure they are the same or it will cause issues. The only thing I am kinda bummed about is the lack of real performance with the dual 6800 Ultra's, but that is a Nvidia issue not MSI. Guys I may be blessed, but I have run three Neo MSI brds, 2 939 and 1 754 and never had any issues....

I have yet to experience any boot/reboot issues...So I think we should wait to hear more from this person before we assume anything...

I have the nForce4 SLI brd and i run a new San Diego..it booted up fine and zero problems. But man is this thing FAST

According to MSI, the Neo4 will work fine with the new cores, the Neo2 will need a bios upgrade

I set my brd up the first time for SLI with dual cards and have never had any issues..Sorry guys, but I guess it's the luck of the draw, but I have yet to ever ave an issue with any MSI brds..I have a Neo2,Neo4 and the older 754 slot Neo..no issues.

Look, I have already been threatened to be banned because of my sarcastic replies to you.  Read every one of your responses I listed.  Obviously OTHERS are having problems.  WHY don't you help them instead of TAUNTING people that yours works.  They are upset, and you make them feel dumb like it's their fault.
Man I have tried to contribute so much to this issue that at least 20 different members here are having, I have tested with an Asus SLI board, I have tried different BIOS's and posted results, I have theorized with others and I feel like you are slapping me in the face by restating time and time again "what problem mine works great"i
I'm on a verbal warning because I didn't have respect for you.  Well how are you respecting the other people who have problems by saying you don't know what their issue is.  Read up on it or help them, instead of creating tension. Please?

  • MacBook Pro A1229 Nvidia problem.

    Hi
Recently, I bought a 2007 2.4 MacBook Pro. A few days ago, I put it to sleep and it did not turn on, it did but there was no output, just a black screen even on external display. There was also no startup chine.
I looked and I'm sure it's the Nvidia problem, do I still have to pay or is it free?
    Thanks.

You can try going to an Apple store or AASP, however, be prepared to pay. That replacement program only lasted 4 years from date of original purchase. Your computer is well beyond the cutoff date.
