Msi gx620 with intel core 2 duo , 2.0ghz, 800 mhz and 2 M cache ????

So this local store is going to get me an MSI GX620 with 2.0 ghz proccessor. It should be available in 3 days.
From what i know, this is supposed to be the Gx 620-018 with the P7350 core 2 duo proccessor because that's the only 2.0 ghz MSI gx620.
BUT the printed paper that has the laptop specifications, which the store clerk gave me, says:
intel core 2 duo , 2.0 ghz , 800 mhz, 2 M cache (does not mention the processor series name...)
bUT THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE because the P7350 has 3 M cache memory and more than 800 mhz...
IT also says that the ram memory is 3gb, which i know it's supposed to be 4 gb.
I'm confused...could it be a rip off, or just a stupid mis-print and wrong info about the the laptop specs from the store clerk???
Thanks!

This is a user-to-user forum, nobody here works for MSI (that includes moderators and administrators).
What exactly do you expect us to do?  We do not know in which region you live, we do not know the store you have ordered the GX620 in, we do not know where the store is getting the GX620 from (certainly not from MSI, but from another reseller or a distributor (which we don't know) and we do not know the origin and the author of the piece of paper you got in that store nor can we be sure that the info on it is trustworthy.  This is a long list of uncertainities for starters.  All the GX620 that I have seen here come with a P7350, however, that does not mean, that in your area, this has to be the case as well.  Consequently, the only save way (without speculation involved) is to check the notebook itself as soon as it gets to the store.  Without further information we cannot tell you anything else.

I wonder who can???
The store should be able to call its reseller/distributor to check the specs of the GX620 they ordered.  If they are unable or unwilling to do that even though the information on the piece of paper they(!) gave you raises valid questions, the problem you have is obviously with the store, not with us here.  The specifications sheet for a particular notebook model in a particular part of the world should include the exact model name of the processor.  If that is not that case, somebody (the store, the reseller or the distributor) forgot to do its homework and if that was the case, how can anyone in here make up for that?  You could call an MSI distributor in your country to find out what variants of the GX620 they are putting on the market in your region.  However, this is still not as informative as starting the notebook to check directly.
I don't really get what you are so mad about.  You ordered a notebook in a store that is unable to provide you with accurate information about the product it is trying to sell you.  That us not exactly a very understandable reason to get upset in here, just because we can't verify the info you got either.

Which O/S upgrade is recommended for a MAC Book Pro17 with Intel Core Duo 2.16 GHz
    I am using os x 10.4.11.
Do I need to upgrade to 10.5.xx? Will this platform suport 10.6.xx? If 10.6 will work do I need to install 10.5 first?
    Thanks...

Hi. Your computer can be upgraded to either Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6. 10.6 will be much easier to find and will be less expensive. Leopard is not required prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard.

  • I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Want to upgrade to Lion to take advantage of icloud. Is there anything I can do without getting a new MacPro?

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?

I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly.  There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS.  There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement.  If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism:  Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality.  Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.
    Ciao.

This is unknown, it will be up to Apple and AFAIK they haven't announced that yet.

    Hi,
the Intel Core Duo processor is a 32-bit only processor and not capable of 64-bit.
Only the Core 2 Duo and later processors are capable of 64-bit.

You need a Core 2 Duo or later to use Lion.  You will need to install Snow Leopard in order to access the Mac App Store to download Lion when it becomes available.

  • Intel Core Duo, very slow start up and doesnt recognize airport

    Hi,
I just got upgraded to a 2GHz Intel Core Duo (10.4.7) by Apple, after they couldn't fix my iMac G5 iSight. But ever since I got it, on the initial start up every morning, it doesn't start up right away. When I press the power button, the sleep light dims on a little, stays on for about 30 seconds (with a blank screen) then the computer will eventually start up (Much much slower than normal)
Once it finished starting up, and gets to my desktop, my airport icon doesn't show up, and when I look for it, the computer tells me that there isn't one installed (There is).
I tried just restarting it, still doesn't show up. So I shut down, and power-up again. It starts up fast and normal, and then my airport card shows up.
Any idea what is causing this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Mike

    parks2,
    Have you reinstalled your RAM?
Have you run the Apple Hardware Test? Check System Profiler under Diagnostics after each startup, as well.

All of a sudden my MacBook Pro (Granted it is an old computer) started having a red cast to the display.  All shading and shadows are red now.  Up until yesterday, I never had any problems with the display.  Is it just getting too old?  Computer works fine otherwise.

Thats not actually correct, the Pentium Dual Core series E5xxx replaces the Pentium Dual Core E2xxx series, The Celeron Dual Core E3xxx series replaces the Celeron Dual Core E1xxx series.

  • Running Visual Studio 2005 on a Mac with Intel Core Duo chip?

My nephew has been teaching himself Visual Basic (Visual Studio 2005) for several months on an old, out-dated PC laptop. My sister, who knows nothing about computers and didn't want to ask for help (in case somebody tipped off my nephew) wanted to buy him a new laptop. She said the salesperson told her that he can install XP SP2 on the Mac and then run any Windows software application (including VS 2005). My nephew has been using the new laptop (Powerbook 15") for less than a week and absolutely loves it. But he doesn't know if he can actually keep it (because he needs to be able to run VS 2005). He asked me and I didn't know so I figured I'd ask.
Any chance he'll be able to install XP SP2, VS 2005, run it, code with it and compile with it (all part of VS 2005)? Or is he going to have to return it and just go back to a PC laptop?
Thanks for any information/advice you can give. I'm seeing him tomorrow so I'm hoping I'll have some good news for him.
    OOTInAtlanta

My bad. It is one of the new one's. I believe it is a MacBook Pro. I think the MacBook itself only comes in 13"?? His is definitely 15" and she bought it brand new. I am pretty sure it is a MacBook Pro.
If it is, you think he'll be able to keep it and do a dual-boot thing (for using VS 2005)? Is there anything special he'll need to know?
Thanks again for any information you can give. It is very much appreciated.
