  • Could macbook starts without battery by using adapter as power source!!??

    Hi all
I have macbook black early 2008 model. My battery is damaged as it falls in water.
I have experienced that If the adapter is plugged with macbook and macbook is on and then i remove the battery ...its remain on...
My question is this that could macbook starts without battery using the power adapter as power source.
    Thanks

Yes it will start and run. The downside is your MacBook will run slower and if you accidentally pull out the plug it will shut off immediately and you'll lose any work that hasn't been saved. I suggest replacing the battery when you can.

  • My laptop won't start without battery mounted

Hello! I have a Compaq CQ61-200sq laptop and recently my battery just got "old". So for the time untill i will buy a new one a just took it out and try to use the laptop without battery, just with the AC adaptor pluged in. But, just i said it won't start if i don't mount the battery. If i took the battery out while it's on there is no problem.
So, my question, beside what could be the problem, is if the problem will disapear with a new battery. I don't want to buy a new battery and still have problems.
    Thank you!

I updated it about two to three times and would still experience the same problem.
Why update 3 times?!? If you run an update, and it installs normally, that it - done!
There's a world of difference between running BatteryUpdate 1.2 and installing a new battery. In fact, if you read the linked page above, it states that the after you run battery update if you experience any of the listed problems you should contact AppleCare. Their first step will be to replace the battery. Could it be a logic board problem? Sure. Is that the first thing they'll do? No. By that reasoning, the first thing to try if your car fails to start on a cold morning is to put in a new engine...
So, to the OP, contact Apple - or better yet, if it's convenient, go in to an Apple Store. Get a new battery. If the problem persists, go from there. The advantage of taking it into a Store is that they'll test it on the spot.

  • Can't start without power plugged in. (w/ fully charged battery)

when I don't have the power connected, my MacBook Pro (Intel core duo) won't boot from the battery. But the battery indicator shows it is fully charged. It's a pretty new battery and power supply too. As soon as I disconnect the power, the MacBook Pro shuts down... The battery is charging, according to the indicator in the menu bar of the desktop.
    Any ideas?

Take it in for repair. The battery may be bad or the charger is bad, or some other related hardware problem.

  • When I close Firefox (3.6.10) by using the x in upper right and then try to start it later, I get message FF is running, you must close first..which I thought I did. Cannot start without using Windows Task Manager and closing process. What is wrong?

See original question. Firefox apparently doesn't close when using the x in upper right corner as when I try to start it again I get a message that FF is already running and I must close it first. I thought the x would do that. Is something set wrong or corrupted?
    Thanks

  • Cannot start on battery

    Hello,
Yesterday I've worked on my macbook pro on its battery with no problem (normal battery length also). Today after charging through the night I tried to power my laptop but now it doesn't boot. I can hear the 'boot tune' but that tune doesn't finish playing because my laptop than goes dead. Booting with the power cord is no problem. The battery specs are: (translated from Dutch)
    full capacity: 3632 / 3550
    charged: yes
    charging: no
    cycles: 231
    condition: check battery
    voltage: 12437
What happened last night? Is the battery suddenly dead now? The led's on the bottom all burn. I've bought it september 2007.
    Any help is very appreciated!

Marcel, a 5600mAh battery like the one in your Mac that is down to 3632mAh is sitting on about 65% of its original capacity. Lithium batteries can become unstable by the time they reach 80% of their original capacity. Once they reach this sort of figure then their decline can become quite rapid (though there are certainly exceptions).
The "liefspan" of a Lithium battery of that era is typically two to three years. Yours is right in the middle of that age group.
Calibration may help (though it may also reveal that your battery actually has a lower capacity than reported by system profiler), but you are likely to need a new battery before very long even if it does improve things a bit in the short term.
My suggestion would be that you take it to an Apple service centre or a battery specialist for testing. Sometimes even when batteries are able to maintain sufficient voltage they lose the ability to meet the demands for enough current to deal with high demand situations (like booting the computer). A proper "stress test" will reveal this sort of problem if it is the cause of your difficulties.
Carolyn's suggestions are most certainly worth trying first, and resolve the issue for some people, but I think you will almost certainly need a new battery, I'm afraid.
    Good luck

  • What can i do when my ADS Instant HDTV PCI cannot start ( code 10)

what can i do when my pc vista says my ADS Instant HDTV PCI cannot start ( code 10 )

Plug it in to power.  If it doesn't automatically come on within 15 minutes, try a Reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If this doesn't work, you likely have a hardware issue.

  • Can I run my HP Laptop without battery if it cannot be removed (mechanism battery access jammed)

I don't know if my first message got posted, so I apologize if this is a double post:
Hi. I have an HP Laptop from 2008. I had to replace the battery last year. Stupidly, I kept the Laptop plugged into A/C. The battery started losing power a week or so ago, losing 2-3 % daily. Today it is at 45%. Problem is-I cannot remove the battery-the mechanism allowing access to battery is now jammed. Is there anything I can do to preserve my Notebook? I should add I am somewhat new to technology (as of 2008) and middle-aged. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Yes you can, the risk is w/o battery when having main (AC) problem specially losing power suddenly data on HDD may be corrupted.

I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry.

  • For starting macbook without battery, is there any option in OS??

Unfortunately i m not able to start my macbook without battery.
My question is that is there any option in operating system which i suppose to on for this or it doesn't required any OS interaction!!??
    Regards

Your MacBook will reduce the processor speed while it is operated with the battery out of it. See Mac Support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2332 and http://www.gearlog.com/2008/11/applenotebooks_take_hugeperf.php

My macbook pro 15 inch early 2008 model will not start on battery power but works fine when plugged in.

check the battery info.. >about this mac>more info>system report and select "power" on the lefthand column.  How many cycles? What does it say about the condition? etc.

  • So my iPhone 4S started draining battery after recent update, battery got changed and it worked perfect for 3 days, all of a sudden the phone won't stay on unless connected to mains... Cannot receive any signal "searching" constantly. HELP

So my iPhone 4S started draining battery after recent update, battery got changed and it worked perfect for 3 days, all of a sudden the phone  shut down and now won't stay on unless connected to mains... Claims its at 100% battery but thats impossible as it was at 30% before it shut down randomly.
Cannot receive any signal "searching" constantly.
Turns off as soon as removed from usb ... wont stay on connected to laptop!
    HELP!

The iPhone includes a one year warranty. If an Apple store is not nearby, you can call AppleCare and handle an exchange under warranty over the phone. The exchange will be shipped to your door - someone must sign for the delivery so if no one will be at home, have it delivered where you work. You use the same box to return the existing iPhone back to Apple. Return shipping label and tape to reveal the box incuded - call the carrier with number incuded when the box is ready to be picked up. AppleCare will request a credit card in the event the existing iPhone is not returned within 10 days after the exchange under warranty is received.
Hardware can fail - it happens, which is why there is a one year warranty.

    See Here for
    Frozen or unresponsive iPhone
Try this first... You will not lose any Data...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

If that does not work... try letting the battery fully drain.
Then Charge for an Hour and try the suggestions again.

  • Macbook Pro shut down because the battery power ran out. Now I cannot start it and the battery will not charge. Only one green battery charge light lights up and blinks.

My Macbook Pro shut down because the battery power ran out. Now I cannot start it and the battery will not charge. Only one green battery charge light lights up and blinks on the left side. I am running Lion. How do I get this to charge and turn on? Thanks

If your model Macbook Pro is the calibrating model, let the battery calibrate.
If not, and are still under warrant or have Apple Care, give them a call and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.
