MSI GX701 and MSI L735 case compatibility

Greetings.
The story goes like this: I have a MSI GX701 laptop, and the case has cracked around the hinge, so it needs replacing. The only case I could find was one from the L735 model and luckily, they look very similar in pictures, but I'd like to know from someone who knows better if they're compatible (I only need the "top part" of the case, as the plastic damage only affects the superior case). Also, is the case replacing a very hard and dangerous process, or is it fairly simple ?
Thanks!

Codegen don't perform as well as you might think. The info I ask for should be on a sticker on the PSU, inside the case. But I'll help you, since I've been there before.
As you see below, there is not much room for a Radeon9800:
"Codegen 400W Pentium 4 ATX Switching Dual Fan Power Supply, Retail Package
Output:400W
+3.3V -> 14A Orange
+5.0V -> 30A Red
+12V -> 12A Yellow
+5VSB -> 2A Purple
-5V -> 0.5A White
-12V -> 0.8A Blue "

  • No MSI info and MSI clock speed flags in display properties

    My problem is really curious. Several days ago I bought new harddrive and made clear instalation of Win98 SE. After that I installed VIA 4 in 1, on-board audio drivers, the new DirectX and then DetonatorXP drivers for my G4 Ti 4600. My problem is that in display properties I miss two flags descrabing my nVidia card - MSI information and MSI clock. System has detected card correctly. In advanced display properties I can adjust OpenGL and Direct 3D settings, AA settings, etc.
    My system is stable in every game and benchmarks, so it means that card works correctly. Powerstrip detects core and memory speeds correctly, under adapter options in this program I see 128 MB video memory, AGP 4x enabled, fastwrites enabled - everything is correct.
    But in display properties I do not see MSI information and MSI clock speed flags. Why ??? I have also reinstalled VIA 4 in 1 and Detonator XP drivers - it did not help.
    Before byuing my new harddrive (80 GB Seagate,7200rpm) I had 30 GB IBM,5400rpm. Windows 98 SE installed on this harddrive detects card correctly too including MSI information and MSI clock speed flags. Now I miss it. Any idea ???
    On both harddrives I have installed DetonatorXP 29.42 then I have updated to 30.82
    My system:
    MSI K7T Turbo 6330 3.0
    1,33 GHz Athlon T-bird
    512 MBRAM
    G4 Ti 4600
    80 GB Seagate BarracudaIV 7200rpm
    Win98 SE

    I installed the MSI Drivers from the MSI cd. All ok but the clock and info tabs were missing. I upgraded the driver from msi site to 3000 and no tabs.
     X(
    Before the GF4 i had a gf2 and i realized i forgot to uninstall the nvidia drivers before installing the new card's drivers. I uninstalled them and reinstalled the msi driver 3000. But no clock nor info tabs.
    Can someone help me? Are those tabs needed?
    I'm using xp pro, intel p4 1.8 on motherboard intel d850md, 1gb ram.
    Also the 3d turbo experience gives me msivga.ocx initialization error.
    Thanxs.

  • Problem with MSI Board and MSI Geforce 4 with Windows XP

    I have a MSI 845E Max(MS-6566E)
                  MSI Geforce 4 - 420
                  Celeron 1.7 gig
                  Soundblaster Live
                  2 Network Cards
                  and the usual stuff.
    I have loaded Windows 98 on my system and it works fine. But then I load Windows XP on and the system starts rebooting. After it reboots my video resets itself and I have to load it back in. I will then reboot and sometimes it will work, sometimes it will not. I try playing a game or even searching the net for awhile, but out of the blue the system will give a very quick blue screen and reboot. And of course when it boots up the video is reset. I loaded all the drivers I could find on MSI's website and used every video driver made by Nvidia and MSI. If I do a Windows XP update to my system the computer will not even boot up. it will just keep rebooting when it is trying to bring up the login screen.  Anyone else run into this with Windows XP?

    My system sometime freezes. Why ???

  • Cannot open msi clock and msi info

    hi i am having some small problems with my
    mx440-td8x.. when i open the properties for the card i cant open the options msi information and the msi clock. it says: error when the file f:´WINNITsystem32desk.cpl for the controlpanel was opening. what shal i do to fix it?

    Guys,
    You could go get the latest nVidia Detonator4 Drivers from the nVidia Website.  Then you can delete the file msicpl.dll from your Windows directory.
    For the extra features:
    Use notepad to make a new file and put in it what I quoted below and then save it with the .reg extension.
    Quote
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweak]
    "Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
    "NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableAdditionalInfoPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableClearViewPage"=dword:00000001
    Double Click on it and it will make an entry into your registry.
    That will open all the extra options in the Detonator4 Drivers including the Core and RAM Speeds for your GF4.
    Take Care,
    Richard

    Please Help
    Every time I try to select the MSI clock and the MSI info tab under the properties control panel in Windows XP I receive a Run DLL error saying their is a problem with file msicpl.dll. I have resetup my entire PC from fdisk to dowloading new drivers the first thing I loaded was the video card and still same error. The card works fine besides this one problem please help.

    Email me or post please!!!
    Thank you ?(

    wyles,
    Download and install the latest  nVidia ForceWare Drivers
    Delete the file msicpl.dll from your Windows Directory and the problem will go away.
    If you want to be able to have the hidden functions, create a file with notepad and put this in it.
    Quote
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    "Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
    "NvCplEnableHardwarePage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001
    Save it as agpsetting.reg to your desktop or anywhere you like. Then run it and it will give you all the hidden options from nVidia which include extra Resolution settings for your desktop and overclocking for both the memory and core.

  • MSI 6147 and pci quadro nvs100 compatibility ?

    Hi everybody,

    I working under xp and the pci card is ok (tested on another pc).

    With the onboard vga enable, win xp dont detect the pci card as a new material to install...   sic...
    I'm wondering if there's not a pci version incompatibility (like if the mobo support only pci ver 2.1 and the video card is 2.3 ?)
    thanks in advance for your answers.

  • MSI Ti4800SE and MSI KT4V motherboard incompatible?

    Yesterday I bought an MSI Ti4800SE to replace a GeForce2. It booted up fine and Windows detected it and installed the drivers. However, on rebooting, the monitor went blank and there was a series of beeps.
    The computer would not start. I tried taking out all the other cards and tried the video card in 2 other computers but all I got was the beeps. I took the card back and got a refund as they had no more in stock.
    Is the video card incompatible with the motherboard for some reason? Did I somehow cause the card to die? Should I buy another or will the same thing happen again?
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    My system is
    MSI KT4V motherboard
    Athlon 2500
    512Mb Kingston RAM
    SB Live
    Network card
    56k Modem
    2 hard drives
    DVD ROM
    Mitsumi CD writer
    350W PSU
    Windows 98SE
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks very much for your advice - looks like I need to spend yet more money then!
    But do you think I damaged the card by not supplying enough current, bearing in mind that it booted OK the first time? Or was it not damaged at all?

  • I have MSI motherboard and MSI GE2Ti 64MB and can\'t get over 30 fps

    I am addicted to playing CS, I used to have a PIII 866 motherboard that crashed.  I bought a MSI motherboard with a Celeron 1.7 and I have a MSI Ge2Ti 64MB DDR video card.  I used to have over 70 fps when playing in the old days, however with this new motherboard I cant get over 30 fps.  I thought that my video card was the culprit and I bought a new ATI Radeon 9000 with 128 MB DDR.  After installing it, I still have less than 30 fps  ?(   ;(
    Before I purchased the Radeon, I tried tweaking the videocard with the rivatuner, but I had no great success.
    The motherboard has a built-in video, can it be conflicting with the AGP card?
    My motherboard is a MS-6524 and my video card is a MSI Ge2-Ti model 8855
    Any help is appreciated!

    Running a P4 (or celeron4) with SDR memory results in very poor preformance, it's basicly ment for office/internet use.
    That I would expect is a big part of the slowness, in fact a celeron 1.7 with SDR could very well be slower than the PIII 866 in many aspects.
    Remember the P4 1.5 wuth RDRAM using the i850 chipset was barely any faster than the PIII 1.0GHz at the time it was released!
    It might be a little late now, but if you need to keep your RAM the only CPUs today that could get something out of SDR are the AthlonXP's and PIII/Celeron socket370.
    And AthlonXP 1800+ costs about the same as the celeron 1700 you have and a basic board with SiS735 or VIA KT133A chipset will cost about the same.

  • MSI U8668 and MSI GeForce4 MX440

    I have a Systemax Venture computer.  It is brand new, 2.4GHZ, 512 Meg DDR.
    The motherboard is a MSI Biostar U8668 Motherboard.
    It has a built in 32MEg 3D SavageDDR video controller.
    I purchased a brand new MSI Mx440 8X (128MEG DDR, 8x AGP) video card.
    I am using FreshDiagnose to check my computer performace.  Before  the new card, I get about 633 Video Performance.  After the MSi GeFroce card, I get 533.  I have tried new drivers and such, to only worsen the results.  I have tried the card in another machine, and it performs worse than a Diamond Stealth 64 card.  This card has 128MEG DDR ram onboard.
    I am completely stuck.  I paid good money for this card, and want it to outperform any other card I have!!
    Does anyone else have any ideas, or has anyone had this problem>  What should be the driver revison # for the Video card, the Motherboard?
    Also, whatd the best Video performance benchmark to test with and get the best results??
    This is my last effort to try befor obtaining an RMA, but would like to solve the problem ASAP!
    Thanks!
    Neil Hicks

    Biostar ( http://www.biostar.com.tw ) is not related to MSI.
    This board uses a VIA P4X266 chipset, did you install the VIA 4in1 drivers?
    How many points do you get in 3DMark 2001 (not 2003) ?
    I downloaded FreshDiagnose and it's benchmarks are all 2D acceleration (simple draw operation, text, moving bitmaps, drawing circles and lines...)
    These are all legacy features and not executed in the 3D core of the VGA card.
    If you want to run Doom(1) at 300FPS you would care about this, but it has nothing to do with D3D or openGL preformance.

  • Msi nx6800gt and MSI kt4v

    My MSI nx6800 gt will not work in my MSI KT4V motherboard.
    I install it and when i boot up all i see is a jumbled mess of colors when it`s trying to post.
    Are they not compatible?
    The MSI KT4V is supposed to have an 8x AGP slot.
    Is it maybe the VIA drivers. I`m running 4-in-1 ver 451v
    What`s up?
    Why won`t it work?

    What chipset drivers are you running ?
    I`ve tried different versions of Via 4-1 and still card won`t work.
    I`m running Enermax 460 watt PS so power is not an issue.
    I`ve read in some of the forums about bad cards.
    I`m wondering if i got one ?
    You would think support would have more info if this was a
    common problem

  • MX440 problem and MSI support

    I am experiencing problems with a new MX440 and cannot resolve it.   I attempted to submit a request via the MSI website, but it never returns a response once the information is submitted.  I sent an email to the support account - no response.  I posted in another thread where other people experienced a similar problem (MSI Clock).  The only resolution (in that thread) was to install Win98.
    What do I do?  I think my only option is to return the card and NEVER buy another MSI product for myself or a customer.   Does anyone have any other suggestions?
    Problems:
    1. Most games will not play properly, or will only play for a few minutes.  Including the games provided with the card.  "No One Lives Forever" flickers really bad and locks up (or blue screens).  Similar behavior with Giants, Diablo II, et al.
    2. The "MS Information" and "MSI Clock" Display Properties crash the control panel application with the following error:  "An error occurred while Windows was working with the Control Panel File c:\winnt\system32\desk.cpl".  I am not able to view or modify these settings.
    3. Live Update Fails with a VBIOS.DLL failure.
    4. 3D Turbo crashes the IE 5.5 window when started.
    I upgraded the bios on both the MB and video card. I installed the latest drivers for the video card.  I've tried every combination of scan rate, screen resolution and 16/32 bit.  I prayed.
    It's only the 3d apps or apps that are video intensive that have a problem.   All other applications work great.
    My Configuration:
    ASUS P4S333 Motherboard Rev 1.xx (Award Medallion V6.0 BIOS - revision 1006C - 4/19/2002)
    300W power supply
    Intel P4 1.7GHz

    ViewSonic GS771 Monitor running at 1152x864 32 bit 60H scan rate
    Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 5.1 sound card
    Windows 2000 Professional
    DirectX 8.1

    Hi ,
    It seems I have the same problem than you; in addition I also have a ASUS P4S333 motherboard; running XP Pro.
    Well my problem is really with 3D games, all of them, even those distributed with the graphic card. I am trying to get help from MSI and ASUS on that problem; before going back to the shop for getting a replacement card to test it will change something or getting a new card.
    what I have tried is NOT installing MSI drivers since it adds some option in the display menu and constantly crash it when they are selected (MSI info and MSI clock)., got driver directly from MSI from 27.xx to 30.xx, try them all with "no one lives forever" and Medal of Honor with always the same results....freezing screen after 5-30 minutes of games.
    I was wondering of a fan problem, that the GPU will get too hot , and you will get the typical freezing bug; however, if the image remains frozen (almost, because it is still working, but it is really slowwwwwwwwwww.), the sound is still playing properly, so the CPU is OK; it seems to be hardware GPU problem....
    Did you solve your problem??
    if yes what was the solution
    Thanks in advance for your answer

  • P35 Platinum and MSI 8600 GT problem

    I have a problem with the computer locking up. It will do it on certain web sites, clicking around in Media player and other programs. I tried everything I could think of. Finally I Got an 8400 video card locally and everything is fine. My question is, since the 8600 GT gets all of it's power from the PCIE slot could it be a voltage problem? If so, I see no way of increasing the PCIE voltage in the bios for this MB.
    Any ideas before I send this card back?
    Thanks,

    2 gig Corsair XMS2 6400C4D Dominator Memory
    OCZ Stealth X Stream 600 Watt Powersupply

    It locked up with default bios settings and no overclocking. I didn't overclock the video card at all. I tried everything. Since I put in a temporary 8400GTS I have the processor overclocked to 3.3gig and everything is fine. Could the 8400 need less power than the 8600GT and if so is there a way to increase the voltage on the 16X PCIE slot? This is a MSI MB and MSI Video card so I would expect them to work together.

  • 5700 Ultra 3 - No ' msi clock' or ' msi info' tabs???

    I have an FX5700 Ultra card from MSI with the original drivers that were supplied with it installed. Prob is that i used to have the 'MSI clock' and 'MSI information' tabs under display settings, and now they are gone?? I upgraded the nvidia drivers to Forceware drivers and all was fine, but then accidentally set the refresh rates for the adapter and monitor too high. I had to reboot in VGA mode, uninstall the drivers and reinstall the original supplied drivers on the MSI CD. Since then i have no MSI tabs under display settings?? Any suggestions?

    man, if u wanna see the clock of the card, get a utilitary like rivatuner. it has a regfile which displays the clock . if u wanna see the clock displayed by msi and DOT, go to msi hp and get the latest driver from it. i recommend u to use http://www.nvidia.com latest drivers and use a utilitary to display your vga card clock.

  • GeForce 9600M GT on MSI GX701 - Driver Problems

    Hello everyone,
    I'm having a problem with my MSI GX701 laptop with GeForce 9600M GT, first of all, I have a dualboot - Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) and Ubuntu 10.10 (x64).
    I've been using old drivers on my Windows 7 for a long time, my current installed drivers are 197.16, and newest available are 267.76. When I install the newest drivers or any version after 197.16 my screen freezes. Sometimes it's after an hour of work, sometimes after 30 minutes. I don't play games, it usually freezes while I browse the internet, but that was with versions right after 197.16, with the newest drivers (267.76) it freezes while I'm entering my password at the login screen, every time! Actually with the newest drivers my screen shuts down. The same thing is on Ubuntu 10.10, while I was using older drivers 17x.xx (as far as I can remember) it goes well but I got laggy rendering and some apps, so I had to install newest. It's not that bad like on Windows but my screen freezes after 1-3 hours of work, a little better but not enough. I also tried installing Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha 3 (x64) recently, I installed the newest drivers for it and my screen freezes/shuts down while I'm entering the password, the same happens on Windows.
    With the newest browsers and hardware acceleration I would really like to use the newest and greatest drivers, but it seems that there is a problem. I have a newest BIOS version even though it's from 2008. Here you can see all specifications of my laptop: http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GX701.html#/?div=Overview
    I tried everything, clean install, normal install, updating, installing only graphics drivers without nVidia PhysX and 3D Vision driver. - I'm talking about Windows.
    So, is there a way to install the newest drivers on my graphics card GeForce 9600M GT?
    Thank you in advance for replying.

     I have been emailing with nvidia for about half year! ( I also have this hungarian version of gx 701). As soon as I install newer whql than 176 the laptop start to random freeze. The newest ones... 304+ get black screen ( the screen just shuts down) after like 30 sec +/- after the log in to os. ANY OS - its OS independent. Well at win7 its quite ok, because nothing requires newer driver than 176.. but I would like to use linux... and steam asks me to install the new... if I dont steam shuts down, till I dont update. If I update... the laptop became unusualble.. and I have to reinstall. i have tryed several things... using powermizer is not the best soluion for win7 it will still freeze. At ubuntu, I tryed the x-org noveua driver its quite ok, its quite better than the nvidia drivers, but it dies at rendering. I was able to start team fortress 2 with that one, but when I joined a server after one minute of tryng to render the textures the game shuts down without any message. like if I just pressed alt+f4. Pls help us! its a global issue. Nvidia cant help, I sent them bugreport.. and they sad that because of the lack of information they give up the investigation. It would be great if they didnt leave the gamers alone with their problem! Please help us! its not only me who have this issue. I really hope you can help us!
    Looking forward to your answer!
    Thank you in advance!
