MSI GX740 overheated graphic card?

Hi everyone,
im new to this forum but i need help how to deal with the overheating when playing games on my gx740 notebook, great machine otherwise!
I have surfed around and saw that many recommend to upgrade the vBios but i dont succed to do this, never starts the installation program when re-booted my computer, i have downloaded drivers and extracted them to a usb stick that i also manage to boot from, BUT it just stands disk error, press a key to continue login or something like that....
i never succed in this, i have like i said read alot in here but dont see which is up to date to do, tried download some nvflash and so also, the only thing i want i guess i want is to upgrade vbios, is there any other way to do this to get graphic card not overheated and reboot the computer!??  Around MAX of 107 c  which is huge!! Normally stands around 100 when playing, i guess the card will not leave that long in that case!?
Any ideas?
/Mikael

With the Tool you can flash BIOS, EC-FW, vbios
Flash everything to the latest versions,
BIOS ==> http://www.msi.com/service/download/bios-11771.html
EC-FW ==> http://www.msi.com/service/download/firmware-11772.html
One by one.
For all use the same steps, i.e. point to the Tool to corespond .zip/.rar archive,
and tool will do the rest.

  • [MSI P35 Platinum] Graphics Card Slot

    Hello,
I just bought the MSI 560 GTX graphics card. My motherboard is MSI P35 Platinum so i was wondering if i can place the graphics card in the 2nd PCI-E slot or this could occure problems. This is my motherboard:
so my question is: can i put the graphics card in the YELLOW slot? Cause it won't fit in the upper PCI... Thanks

Why doesn't it fit?  It should fit without problems.
Because of the I/O controller (i think this is it...)
Quote from: Jack on 03-September-11, 19:12:09
You can do that, however, in that slot, the video card will only get x4 lanes assigned to it (instead of x16 lanes in the primary PCI-Express slot).
And what difference does this make?

  • MSI X48C Platinum - Graphic card identification problem

    Hi,
I have been having this problem for a long time which I still haven't been able to solve.
When I plug my graphics card to the PCI-E slot 1 (Slot closest to the cpu) I get nothing on my monitor. I have to plug it on to the  PCI-E slot 2 (PCI-E 4) to get anything on the monitor. I am running Windows 7 (64bit) Professional.
With this configuration (That is, the graphics card being installed in slot PCI-E4) I am getting a lot of blue screen failures due to  graphics card being non-responsive, especially when running graphic intensive programmes.
Here are the details of my PC configuration.
Motherboard - MSI X48C Platinum (MSI MS 7353)
    RAM  - 6GB DDR3
    Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300  -  2500Mz
    BOIS - Version 7.4V
    Graphics card - Hightech Radeon HD4870  1GB DDR5
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Cris

    Hi go_for,
    Thanks for the reply.
I am using a Aerocool 750W  (model VP-750)power suppy and the graphics card is connected with 2 PCI-E power connectors from the power supply.
The problem is that it runs on the other pci-e slot not the first one. Could the first slot be defective?
    Thanks

  • MSI K8T & Asus Graphic card?

Anyone who is using MSI K8T together with Asus graphic card and has been able to get the smart doctor function working? I can not get it to work. The fan speed regulation have no effect. No matter if I set the speed manually or automatic. It always runs at about 6200 rpm. The card is a Radeon 9600XT and I have tried several versions of smart doctor, including 4.21 which should be the latest.

And I have the same problem Question Should I just get rid of smart Doctor or install the Asus drivers so it will work properly
Also, I'd like to just bitch for a moment at ASUS - this card cost me almost $500. and it given me more trouble than any other Video card I owned.
If anybody has any advise for the best setup.......

  • PowerBook has malfunctioning temperature sensor/overheating graphics card?

I just received a brand new high res PowerBook 15'', but, the free "Temperature Monitor" program, that monitors the outputs from the PowerBook's temperature sensors, seems to display the Graphics Processor's temperature incorrectly. Often, it says it is 212º F, but it wildly flunctuates between that and a more reasonable 114º. The "Specified Upper Limit" also changes, but seems to be 156.2º F. If it is the correct temperature, then my graphics card is overheating. What should I do?

To the contrary. All Macs have a graphics card. Not in the same way as a PC where the card is removable, but it is integrated into the computer. Otherwise they would either have some form of Apple graphics card or the graphics would leech off the main computer components. Mac OS X takes full advantage of hardware graphics technology (OpenGL, Quartz).
As for temperature, it is key to computer performance. If you've looked at PCs there are many different cooling options. The PowerBook has it's own ways. First it is built of aluminum which draws the heat away and reduces the temperature by 10%, and it has two cooling fans that run at low speeds for quiet operation, they will crank to full speed if the computer is under stress and is creating lots of heat. A G5 has an extensive and well thought out cooling system with thermal zones and liquid cooling on some models, good example of how extravagant they can get.
And Logan, does your computer feel 212˚? If not there is a malfunction in the program. If the computer is whirring about trying to cool itself when it feels normal, it is a hardware malfunction. Thry running a hardware test if it is a hardware malfunction.

  • MSI GX620 notebook graphics card upgrade (HELP)

    Hello
first time sorry for my bad english.
     I have a MSI GX620 laptop with a nv 9600th
I thought to myself that I have a ati hd4670 of replacements.
but unfortunately not boot the notebook with the video card.
the notebook starts, but only up to the hardware id consultation.
Give it a possibility to modify the bios that the card is detected?
ie the white list table expand.

There is no whitelist for the MSI gx620. This model supports many many graphics card.
There may be a problem with your 4670 card. You may want to update the laptop BIOS however to that of the gt627 or possibly gx623.
I recommend you return the graphics card to the seller you got it from. You can get a new heatsink for better Nvidia cards like this http://cgi.ebay.com/NVIDIA-quadro-FX-2700M-512MB-NB9E-GLM2-MXM-III-/270729976730?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f08c39b9a which is like the 9700m GTS (good if not better) http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-Nvidia-Quadro-FX-3600M-MXM-512MB-Graphic-Card-/170612917606?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item27b9528566#ht_4888wt_1139 (like 9800m GTS, very good) http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-nVidia-Quadro-FX-3700M-1-GB-Video-Card-NEW-NB9E-GLM3-/370504497087?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item5643c9f7bf (the best, but will run HOT)
Or if you like ATI http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-M17-M15X-512MB-ATI-HD-3870-Master-Video-Card-/180661996018?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item2a104b49f2
The heatsink may be hard to get. I think I could get one for you tho, PM me if you're interested.

  • Drawing artifacts in Firefox and Thunderbird after installing MSI AMD R6850 graphics card

After installing new graphics card (MSI R6850 CYCLONE 1GD5 PE/OC), latest drivers on WinXP 32bit, I'm experiencing frequent drawing artifacts with Mozilla Firefox 8.0 and Mozilla Thunderbird 8.0. The problem represents itself either as horizontal black stripes or scattered color checker pattern. It happens especially when switching from other application to Firefox or Thunderbird or when swiching from child window (like Download Manager) to Firefox. It affects either whole application or just some rectangular region (clearly region which was redrawn due to application switching). Next repaint (like switch between Firefox tabs) usually fixes the problem. It is just visual issue, behavior is not affected. The problem never happened to any other application till now. Any ideas? Anyone experienced same problem? Thanks in advance.
    Zbynek
P.S. Here are the screenshots for both problems:
    http://astrofoto.euweb.cz/tmp/black_stripes.jpg
    http://astrofoto.euweb.cz/tmp/color_boxes.jpg

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver that fixes these problems.

slap03:There are 2 cards in the laptop, 1 for normal desktop use which is lower power, and 1 for gaming that is a dedicated card. The intent is to increase the laptops battery life while still having the ability to have a high performance system.
That being said, most likely the laptop isn't enabling the dedicated card when you play a game.
Make sure that in the Enduro/AMD drivers, that they recognize the game, and are setup to USE the dedicated card for those games, instead of the integrated card.

after its done, extract all files on it and boot from USB key.
