  • MSI GS 60 SPDIF-out

Hey! I found that gs60 has combined headphones-spdif out port in manual. So i bought a mini-Toslink cable and plugged it in but realted hd doesn`t see any cables connected and realtek digital output is still inactive. Also i dont see any light as usually in optical otput ports. So can anyone clarify this? Does GS60 really have spdif out and if yes how to enable it?   Thanks for any help.

    Hey Laszlo,
    It works for me
It's the headphone jack which supports the S/PDIF, not the Microphone jack. (I'm pretty sure about that)
I use the Toslink to Mini Toslink cable and connect the male adapter of the mini Toslink to my GS70 and the male Toslink side to my speaker.
I think your problem should be "I used a 3.5mm stereo jack -> 2x RCA cable.", since the notebook only supports Toslink (optical) output. You'll need a Digital Audio Adapters to convert the Toslink optical to RCA Coax cables or vice versa. (depending on your situation)
*Make sure you've set the digital output to S/PDIF-Out in the Realtek Audio Manager.
Here is what I did on the set up:
    1. Double click on the realtek speaker icon located at the notification area to open the Realtek audio manager.
    2. Double click on the analog icon and choose the S/PDIF-Out.
(You can see the attached picture from chc, it's the same windows.)
If you still don't get it, then I think you should give us a picture of your devices and how you connect them OR visit the service center and ask for help.
    Good luck~

  • MSI RS482M4 no SPDIF out

I have read through the manual searched the Forum and cannot find the secret  to getting SPDIF out to work. I have a Spdif bracked connect to the SPDIF out on the board. I tried both COAX and Toslink through my onkyo receiver with no luck  I suspect I have miised some setting . I do have SPDIF set to on in Audio I/O. However in the Mixer Playback  drop drown box it only shows "realtek audio output" and the spdif has no slider and is not highlighted.  Under record drop down box ther is two entries "realtek Audio input and realtek digital input".  So if someone could propvide the solution to this problem it would be greately appreciated.

This board continues to be a dissapointment. I have not been able to get the ATI x200 on board graphics to work with two displays.  Although the ATI  display manager shows both my LCD display and TV it will not let me enable the TV. I am sure this is a ATI driver problem. Since I have only  used Nvidia software in the past I would apprecate any help with this problem. In the display manager screen And running the Wizard it shows both the LCD monitor and TV however only the LCD monitor is checked.  When I try and check the TV the next button is no longer available so you cant proceed. When I right click on the TV icon it asked if I wwant to enable it and when I say yest it blanks the screent and come back in the same un-enabled state.. I can get the software to diplay with either the LCD or TV but no both. In windows Display setting it show two display devices but it will not let me extend the desktop to the second display. I never had this problem using the Nvidia products.  If any body has experience with ATI graphic drivers I would apopreciate your help. Thanks

  • Msi GX740 expresscard slot

    Hello.
I just bought an GX740 with core i7 and radeon 5870 but I am having some troubles. Os is windows seven 64 bit premium home.
I use an expresscard for making music (echo indigo IOX expresscard) but it doesnt work fine with the MSI GX740.
The problem is the following :
(Drivers are well installed, many versions have been tried with the same problem)
    - If the card is inserted before booting, the system recognize it well, and I can use it. BUT, after a few second of use, the system will totally hang up and stop responding. The sound playing will be looped. I tried to let it for more than 20 min but nothing unstucked..
    - If the card is inserted when the laptop is already online, it doesnt detect the card but a pci to pci bridge or something and the drivers can't be loaded properly, so I cant use the card at all. Expresscard is supposed to be hotpluggable....
When the system crashes, there seems to be a problem with winio.sys (seen in the event viewer), but thats the only thing I know, because there is no bluescreen so I have no dumps I can check....
The card works fine on other systems with the exact same OS and drivers so I suspect it's something to do with the way the laptop configures the card (irq, adress etc).
Also, I have the latest BIOS and all the drivers are well up to date.
Does anyone has already tried the GX740 expresscard slot, and if yes, does it work?
    Cheers!

    OMG!!
looks like msi learned nothing in the past!
please read it all here: same issue with pr200
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=119513.80
    exact the same problematic.
after 8month of writing email with msi-techsupport & dev team they released a special bios "workaround" version and it worked. (also with this special bios version the expresscard has to be inserted before boot. if removed and inserted again it also does not work with this special bios)
it has to do with bios parameters which are not correctly set for the expresscard slots. it`s definitly a msi failure  and has absolutly nothing to do with the certification of the expresscard.
all expresscards with TI chipset are good for audio use. i`ve also tested with certified cards.
so in short: the result was > msi was only able fix it (partly) with a special biosversion. (problem is sitting in the pci-register values for the expresscardslot
i have all emails saved and can send them out on reqest if somebody needs them for further analysis as i was working on this problem with special pci-register software to show up msi thats their problem. so we were able to fix it for the pr200.

  • Help with spdif out

i have a home theater system setup, goes from the spdif out on front of my A.2zs platinum card to the coax in on my receiver, and it worked great for about half an hour, then the music i was playing started to get a funny sound in intervals, like it was dropping out, fading in and out, could this be interference?

sorry, don't have dvd player installed, but, i downloaded AC3 trailers and still no succes.
something to add, the MSI SOUND MANAGER that came with the driver also doesn't produce 5.1, i've selected digital output and 6 channel coax and when i turned the speaker test on, surround speakers didn't made any sound, only the 2 front speakers.
what do u think about this ?

  • SPDIF out to HDMI-supporting graphics c

    Hi.
I have an Audigy 2 Value card which I'm trying to connect to my graphics to output HDMI but I can't figure out which way to connect the SPDIF cable.
It's in 2 parts: SPDIF and GND... no markings on the Audigy which goes where, just 2 pins (one marked JP, I think)...
Also, do I need to set this SPDIF Passthrough option? Where do I find this option?
I'm on Vista 32bit and using the latest drivers for SB Audigy 2 Value.
Many thanks for your time. Been getting a little desperate here.

    ?Enabling HDMI Output
Follow the steps to enable HDMI Output function:
. Find the DVI-to-HDMI adapter that comes with
the package, if provided. Consult your dealer
to purchase the adapter if it is not provided.
    2. Attach the DVI-to-HDMI adapter to the DVI
    connector.
    3. Ensure that the adapter is firmly installed.
    below
    4. Use the compliant SPDIF Internal cable to connect both the SPDIF connectors on the
VGA card and your mainboard. Make sure to () plug the orange cable to the SPDIFpin
and the black one to the GND-pin on the mainboard; and (2) plug the other end
(2-pin white connector) of the cable to the SPDIF connector on the VGA card. Note
that wrong installation may cause the damage to the VGA card.
    5. Or, use the compliant SPDIF External cable to connect the SPDIF connector on the
VGA card and the SPDIF-out connector on the back panel of the mainboard. Make sure
to plug the end with 2-pin connector of the cable to the SPDIF connector on the VGA
card, and the other end to the SPDIF-out connector on the back panel of the mainboard.Message Edited by ozprostreet on 05-08-2008 0:4 AM

  • SPDIF out on RS480M2

I have an Athlon 64 3000+ with an MSI RS480M2 and 512 MB of DDR333 RAM with 1 Seagate IDE 80 GB HDD. There is 1 analog SPDIF out on my motherboard, i tried connecting it to my home music system, but no sound came out!!! How do i manage to get sount from the SPDIF???

SPDIF stands for Sony/Philips DIGITAL Interface Format.  It is an interleaved 44.1kHz (CD) or 48kHz (DAT) format for digitally transferring
linear PCM encoded digital music information.  It is, as the name suggests, digital and cannot be listened to without first converting to analog.
The menu entry that is in the panel is misleading in that it appears to suggest that the SPDIF can be analog.  This is not true nor is it even
possible.  If it were analog there would be no way to reconstruct the multi-channel (stereo or 5.1) nature of the signal from one connector source.
I believe that it means that the SPDIF and the analog out can be active at the same time.  If you want analog out use a 1/8" plug to stereo RCA
plug Y-cable available at Parts Express or Radio Shack plugged in the middle audio connector next to the SPFIF and enable analog (the green one).
Plug the RCA ends of the cable into your amp using and AUX or CD input.
SPDIFs are made to be fed into either an outboard DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) typically used in high end audio systems or
into digital inputs on DTS  home theatre receivers.  Some computer speakers (I think Creative or Logitech make some) also accect SPDIF.
Such a cable for the analog is here...

  • 6 cell batteries for msi gx740

I dont like the way my 9 cell sticks out in the back so im looking for one that will aligned perfectly can you guys recommend one?

I am simply indicating possible source and no recommendation is implied for this. For others you might find stores listed on eBay that could possibly have something. Since the one below says it's has Japanese cells it should be pretty good quality. Website indicates worldwide shipping.

  • K7N420 pro MSI 6952 TV-Out Riser Card troubles

just wondering if anyone has gotten the MSI 6952 TV-Out Riser Card to go with their K7N420 pro motherboard and if so how do you get it to work as ive tried for months on end and i still have many failed attempts at getting it to function

It is your drivers. You need to get the 29.XX series of detonator drivers and use those to get tv-out to function.
I had a K7N420 and a tv-out card... long dead, exploded caps. I recall that the last version of the detonators that worked for sure was the 29.20s. I experience the same difficulty with my geforce3 Ti500 and the new drivers... no tv-out signal as the drivers cannot seem to detect the presence of a tv on the other end of the svideo cable.
Try it out and see if it works

  • Spdif out on windvd = no sound ! X

was trying to whatch a dvd the other night after burning it only to fin i get no sound !
windvd is set as per the instructions to pass the siganl to my soundcard (x fi plat) and the sound cards set to decode the signal but i get nothing at all, th eonly way i get sound is if i set windvd to analogue aka plain old stereo stanger still is if i play the vobs for the dvd of my hdd the sound works fine !

Not sure why your running into a prob. I just tested WinDVD here and am getting spdif out to SC just fine. Only issue I have is that allowing WinDVD to do the audio on a DTS disc the volume is louder than if spdif and let x-fi decode it. Any chance you have the decoder set backward for the card, ie set to Dolby bitstream out instead of built-in decoder? I know you said you had it right & sounds like you know what your doing but thats the only thing I can think of. Which version of WinDVD are you using?

  • Qosmio G30-102 Optical SPDIF out not working

I have bought new Qosmio G30-102 and I am quite sure that SPDIF Optical Out connector is not working.
I can't test it at the moment, but I had a couple of SPDIF sound cards and every one of them had a red light on all the time, which signalized that Optical SPDIF is supported.

    Hi,
maybe I would first try a SPDIF device, if I were you, because I agree with the user before, it has definetively a SPDIF out.

  • XBox 360/Audigy: SPDIF IN pass through to SPDIF OUT not working with 5.1

    Hi,
I've a problem passing my digital dobly signal from my 360 over the Audigy soundblaster to my external decoder. I want to use digital SPDIF IN from the audigy?IO device to pass the signal directly without processing to the external decoder by using the SPDIF OUT.
There is only one digital in at the decoder, so I need this combination if I want my PC and XBox to be connected both without a toslink switch.
I activated the pass through and external decoder option in the audigy console application. I also disabled the DDL encoder. Additionally I set my Windows 7 speaker settings to use SPDIF OUT as standard device.
This is working for every dolby digital signal?from a dvd which I play on my PC, but not for the XBox signal. The signal is not recognized as a 5. dolby digital signal, but as a 2.0 signal. So something must happen with the signal in the audigy. The XBox settings are correct, because when I connect the toslink cable directly to the decoder everything works fine.
My drivers are the newest one (3.8)?from the support pack.
I don't want to use the DDL option, because the latency is much to high to allow regular playing!
Is there a possibility to pass the XBox signal through to my decoder by using the digital in and out of the audigy?
    Thanks in advance,
    Axel

Hi I have the same probleme, exept that I have succesfuly pluged my home theater receiver and the 5.1 works. Just my subwoofer seems not to work properly. Like when I plug it into a digital dvd player it works very nicely. but when pluged into the sound card it seems that it dosnt have any signal for it.
ANy clues??? I know i pluged everything finely I have tested the sound test for each speaker and sub to, from the receiver and from the creative software the sub seems to work but very quietly even if I cran the volume up on the sub or in the software , the sub dont work as it should.
1 thing I remarqued is that the sub works occasionaly in some movies. When listening to the music it not working and I dont understand that.

  • X-FI Titanium + DDL Encoding + SPDIF Out Configuration on Windows 7 x64

?My setup - I have an X-FI Titanium running on Windows 7 x64. The optical out of the X-FI is connected to a splitter - one goes to my speakers (Logitech z-5500) and the other goes to my headphone amp (Astro Mixamp). I'm running the latest beta driver and daniel's last support pack, along with the latest DDL and DTS packages.
When I enable DDL encoding in the creative panel, it says I have to set the default device to be Creative X-FI (Speakers). Why not SPDIF out? If I set SPDIF Out as the default device, I get no sound. If I reboot, I get a blue screen.
If I set speakers as default, I get sound from both the speakers (if I connect analog) and optical out. I thought this configuration wasn't possible anymore on Vista/Windows 7?

they dont want you to use spidf out because the console doesnt control it and doesn't give you any enhacments at all. either turn the software volume control to 0, or unplug them.
