MSI H55M-E33 MB OC

Hello everyone!
I got an MSI H55M-E33 mother board paired with an i5-760 currently running at 3.6 ghz, unfortunately thats the maximum i ever managed to get it to, i was wondering if anyone has the mentioned motherboard and ever managed to get to 3.8 or 4.0 ghz oc.
I have bios version 1.0, was always paranoid to flash it to a newer one since i never had issues with it, the annoying thing is i cant seem to find the QPI/VTT voltage option so my oc is that limited, i asked around and i have been told the newer versions of the bios still dont include the option but im sceptic to be honest, there must be the option now a days!!. If anyone has the latest bios version for this mobo can you confirm its got all the required options to be able to run this cpu at 4.0 ghz?, if the options are not there, how the hell did you manage to get to 4.0 ghz with just the vcore voltage control!?

There are potentially two reasons for that.
1. The components on the lower end boards are unable to cope with higher overclocks and the increased power requirements with such higher OC's add the risk of board component failure.
2. The control circuits for manually adjusting these values just don't exist, meaning that even if they could add the lines in the BIOS, you still won't be able to change the values.
You have probably exhausted the OC potential of that board.

Overclocking an MSI H55M-E33 with easy OC switch.

Hi everyone,
Im new to overclocking, tempted to overclock through the easy oc switch on the mainboard. Has anyone tried it out? how did it go?, but more importantly do i need to change setting from the bios or does it change itself automaticaly after the switches are on?, also do i need to turn off intel's turbo boost before i turn the switches on?, an explanation would be much appreciated since ive never done this before, thanks guys

Case: Coolmaster centurion 5
CPU: I5 760
Ram: 8gig corsair xms3 classic
Cpu cooler: Noctua nh-d14
Case cooler: Noctua nf-p12
Graphics: MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III PE/OC (single unit)
HD: X2 SEAGATE 500GIG 7200rpm

Suggest you set your BIOS to default values first.
Set your OC switch to its first OC stage and restart the system. Test for stability with something like Prime 95 and monitor your temps.
Once you have established stability, you can try the second OC stage and repeat the stability testing.
You may of course want to do some reading first in terms of overclocking your 1156 platform. OC'ing the system in the BIOS yourself is usually the best way to achieve this.

Self-adhesive plastic part on bottom of MSI H55M-E33?

Hi,
I just got an MSI H55M-E33 from my retailer. The problem is that I have the feeling that the board is not new (someone may had already installed it).
I found a small piece of black self-adhesive plastic on the bottom on the board which I had never seen before on any MoBo I have installed before. The black plastic part is about 1x3cm large and sticks on the bottom of the MoBo next to the IDE-port.
Is this a regular part of the MoBo or is this something that doesn't belong there? Has anyone recognized something like that on a brand new H55M-E33?

MSI H55M-E33 SATA Not Detected

I've been putting together a new computer with this H55 board fresh out of the box. No matter what I do though all my SATA ports still show up as Not Detected in my BIOS for my hard drive or disk drive. I've tried all kind of combinations with every port. I've even taken out the CMOS battery for a while.
Specs are:
MSI H55M-E33 motherboard
Intel Core i5-680 Clarkdale 3.6GHz 4MB L3 Cache
Western Digital 1.0 TB HDD Model WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0
Pioneer DVR-218LBK
Corsair 850HX Power Supply

Okay, so I cleared CMOS several times, and even tried a brand new hard drive and DVD drive with at least seven different sata cables and every sata slot I had. Still nothing showing up at all in CMOS.
Also, here's my Bios: A7587IMS V1.1 012210
I'm very new at putting computers together, but from my understanding Sata should pretty much be plug-and-play. Or at the very least plug-and-see.

Msi h55m-e33 motherboard AHCI

Hello, is it possible to enable AHCI mode on this motherboard because I cant find any settings for it in bios. Any help would be really appreciated.

If you are changing to AHCI mode with Windows 7 already installed you need to enable the AHCI driver in the registry before you change the SATA mode of the boot drive. To do this, follow these steps:
- Exit all Windows-based programs.
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlS etServicesMsahci
In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
After this you’ll have to restart your computer, go to BIOS and enable AHCI. When you log in to Windows again, you’ll notice the installation of drivers for AHCI. Another restart will be required to finish the driver installation.

Can't Install Windows on H55M-E33

I just bought this new sets of PC :
Processor : Intel Core i3 550 3.2Ghz Box
Motherboard : MSI H55M-E33
Memory : Team Elite Dual Kit 2*1 GB TED32048M1333HC9DC (I assume PC10600) Timing : 9-9-9-24
VGA : GeForce GTS450 1Ghz
Harddisk : Hitachi SATA 1TB
Maxtor IDE 160GB (this one is old stuff)
The Main problem here is when i tried installing windows, I kept being told by setup that a random file is somewhat corrupted and sometimes end up with BSOD like BAD_POOL_HEADER or ERROR_IN_NONPAGED bla bla. Sometimes it don't. Anybody knows what happen here ?
NB : Actually this don't happen just with XP, Also with Vista and Windows 7, So I ended up with a piece of electronic junk

How much RAM do you intend to use? 2GB or 4GB.

By that do you mean mixing your current RAM with other new RAM?
You should not mix RAM brands, sizes, speeds or whatever. Sometimes you get lucky and it works OK but more often it's just one problem after another when you do mix like that.

Compatibility of corsair vengeance pro on H55M-E33

Recently i bought a new kit of corsair vengeance pro (2x4gb) 1866 mhz to replace my old 2x2gb. By using the same memory slot of the old ones(i plug them out and place the new in), bsod of windows appear (irql not equal, bad header, etc)
So is there any help? Thanks
After that placing new ram in, my keyboard/mice will not work at boot screen making me unable to choose F1,F2 for run default values.
Placing back the old ram and everything works fine, i just wanna upgrade more space of ram and better ram kit for future upgrade of pc.
Currently bios is ver 1.8, trying to update to newest using live update but appears checksum error so using back the default values.

H55M-E33 (1.3 bios), i3-530 - freeze with flickering screen

Hi everyone.
My setup is:
- MSI H55M-E33 motherboard (bios version 1.3)
- Intel i3 - 530 CPU
- no other graphic card, using the one integrated in the CPU.
- 2x2GB DDR3 Patriot memory (666MHz, CL9)
- Samsung SATA (320GB, 7200rpm) HDD
- ATA LG DVD Drive
- LG LCD Display, connected via DVI
- 450W eurocase PSU (22A on 12V)
- Windows 7 32bit
The problem is that the PC freezes unexpectedly, with a flickering screen (flickering colorful rectangle rows aligned in 4 or 5 vertical bars). Only hard restart helps in such case. The trouble is that this happens only rarely (about 5 times total during 10 days since I got the PC).
First time it happened was after a bios update (1.1 -> 1.3, via liveupdate utility) when the computer restarted after, as it stated, a successful bios update. I though the update failed, but after I turned the PC on again, everything was just fine. Next time it happened while playing with Google Maps, so i suspected my PSU, which was then only 300W and only 20 pin. I bought a new 450W one and thought the problem is history, but today it happened again while just working with Adobe Reader and OpenOffice.
The CPU and all other parts are well cooled (the CPU temperature rarely crosses the 40°C value).
What would you recommend to do? A bios downgrade?

Well, I did some testing, maybe it's too soon to make a conclusion, but the problem seems to occur only when the RAM modules are in Dual Channel mode.
Tests I did:
- Only the first RAM module in DIMM1 - no problems.
- Only the second RAM module in DIMM1 - no problems.
- Swapped - second RAM module in DIMM1 and the first one in DIMM3 (dual channel) - same flickering screen freeze at same circumstances.
- Both RAM modules installed in DIMM1 and DIMM2 (no dual channel) - no problems so far
Those RAM modules were bought as a kit of 2 modules for dual channel.
So far the system is stable I'm satisfied, but I regret the memory performance loss.

H55M-E33 I3 530 reboot loop

Hello,
I have my system for a year now but added a ssd hd yesterday. I installed windows 7 32 bit on it. When I installed the Intel hd driver the system asks for a reboot. As soon as the PC wants to enter the OS the system reboots. Offcourse system recovery pops up after that reboot. Recovery deletes the Intel drivers and the system boots up fine. I also tried to update the VGA driver (not installing them with Intel`s setup). It finds the driver files but again as soon as it wants to copy/enable them the system reboot itself. The only thing I can think of is a power problem. Here are my specs
MS H55M-E33
Intel I3 530
2 GB MEM
300 watt Be quit power supply
1 Caviar green 2TB Hard drive
1 OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD
I did not OC my system also never done a BIOS Flash. I`ve read somewhere that the newer BIOS versions makes the system using more watt`s.

MSI B75MA-E33 does see 2Gb of memory from 4Gb

My old m/b is dead (Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2). My 2 x mushkin Essentials 2Gb DDR3 1333MHz was working fine on that m/b. I decided to purchase replacement MSI B75MA-E33 + i3-3240. Specifications says that this memory is supported.
But BIOS see only 2Gb. I tried to switch memory sticks between ports with the same result. Any suggestions?

MSI H55m-E21 OC issues

Hey guys, recently purchased a MSI H55M-E21 mobo. Got everything setup and I am having a few issues with the BIOS.
First, RAM is not listed at 1600Mhz which was listed on the site as being supported while OC. Most of the settings for this option have been greyed out and I am unable to make any changes to the memory.
Second, I am also unable to make changes to the CPU FSB. Multiplier is sitting on the max 21 which is default for my i5-760, the FSB is greyed out. Pressing F4, page up/down, +/-.. nothing I can do will highlight the FSB option to change it.
I have attempted to use the Control center but it bugs out and crashes often. Is this motherboard able to handle overclocking or not?

I imagine it's more because it's a low cost MB and really wasn't made for OC to begin with. If you wanted to OC then you should have got H55M-ED55 or H57M-GD65 or one of the P55M which have decent OC abilities. We see this all the the time with $50/$60/$70 motherboards. You simply can't expect them to OC like their more expensive big brothers. If you want to run with the big boys then it's going to cost you more $$.

if you are asking if its able to use a USB 3.0 Device then the answer is yes but it will operate at USB2.0 speeds only on the ports as they are only USB 2.0 ports and USB 3.0 devices are backward compatible and can be used on USB 1.0a and USB 2.0 ports but will work only at the USB revision speed its connected to!

MSI C847MS-E33 + IBM serveraid M1015

Hi,
After many hours short on sleep this is the next stop to make.
I am building a homeserver and chosen this board MSI C847MS-E33 (flashed bios to latest version) for its celeron and low energy consumption.
At first i used a 430w psu(should have been just fine) and highpoint rocket sata controller.
Problem : disks controlled by the highpoint were dissapearing.
I replaced the psu as altho 430w should be enough (max load calculated +-400w) it looked like a psu problem.
Problem remained.
I checked out on the highpoint card and found more similar problems (driver problems under linux for the marvel chip)
So i replaced that one with the popular ibm serveraid m1015 wich is known to be a very descent card for its price.
The problem is now that the booting hangs on :

I'm using a debian based system.

There are a few things i have not tested yet :
(installing windows on that machine, altho running windows is not an option.)
I tried to boot with the latest ubuntu livecd and it failed aswel.
If i put this card in another computer everything works. (i will try to flash the cards bios tonight, it was impossible to do on the msi board as
1. I dont have a supported windows version (found out on other computer) that supports the software for updating.
2. It has been impossible to do on the msi board as linux wont boot with the card attached.
So i try tonight in the other computer with the ubuntu live cd wich does seem to boot fine with the card on that computer.
In the meanwhile :
Is there a known problem with this kind of cards (since i tried 2 cards and both gave problems) on this msi pci-e slot?
Any bios settings i should try?
Just anything else?

H55M-E33/H55M-P31 Motherboard

I installed an H55M-E33/H55M-P31 Motherboard with an Intel Core i3 530 2.93 Ghz Processor and 4 Gb of RAM. I am running Windows XP Professional on the computer and want to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. The on-board graphics card cannot get 1366x728 resolution which Windows 8 requires in order to be able to work. What can I do to get this system to meet that minimum graphic resolution requirement? The motherboard does not have an AGP slot on it. Which video card solution could I use, or am I looking at having to upgrade the motherboard?

Your system will run single channel.
Something you may want to check:
Remove your CPU and check that you did not have a bad contact or bent pins right from the start. It could be that it didnt cause a problem with your current mem but the additional mem controller load may now exhibit this behaviour.
Additionally, check what your DRAM voltage and VTT are reflecting in the BIOS.
You may want to try and increase these manually to test if it will afford you the stability.
You can set your VTT to 1,2V manually and set the DRAM V to 1,575V for a test and see if that helps.
