MSI H61M-E33 (B3) LGA 1155 Question

First time poster here. I made a computer just last November and have had no qualms or difficulties with it. Last night after returning home from my spring vacation I sat down to do some internet browsing. Half way through watching a video my computer shut down suddenly and didn't turn back on. After trying to press the on button and getting no signal to my monitor and no beep from the motherboard, I got the feeling that this board had died. My build looks like:
2x G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
COOLER MASTER GX Series RS650-ACAAE3-US 650W ATX12V v2.31
Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core processor
XFX HD-677X-ZNLC Radeon HD 6770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 video card
and the board that I mentioned in the title...
I guess my question is, before I order another board to replace this one, is there something that I should test to make sure this board is actually dead. Just some notes about what I'm seeing include:
No start up POST beep from the motherboard
The fans and graphics card fan run perfectly fine
Startup sounds like usual besides missing beep
All USB connected to the mobo do not power up
Keyboard connected to mobo doesn't power up
Monitor says "No Connection" when it is plugged into both the Mobo and Video Card
I have tried resetting the power supply and the wall switch, along with trying to startup the computer without one or both sticks of RAM. I have tried taking out the video card and starting all to no avail. My monitor acts like it has a connection when I plug it into the mother board/video card but then just pops up with "No connection." Is there any other diagnostics I should try, or should I just start looking into another board? Also, is there something wrong with my build that would cause the motherboard to break down like this? Any and all help would be greatly be appreciated.

that happened to me once! went away an came home and computer refused to boot. i wouldnt think imediatly that the computer is damaged as your PSU may have OCP (over current protection) on it, my psu did and the breaker had engaged blocking power flow into my system, took 3 days of power off to discharge its caps fully to disengage then it worked again!
give it a few days of idling without trying powering up for the capacitors to dump the surge they more then likely encountered and it may resolve once it has got rid of the unusable stored voltage/ampage it has!
i thought my computer was dead and was going to take it to a shop for repair (wasnt nesicarry as it resolved itself) but its sometimes just a protection mechanism causing an issue after a surge (depends on how agressive the manufacturer made it my one was very agressive)!
try in 2 days if its still dead then your very unlucky and need to hunt down the problem!

    Explanation
I recently changed my motherboard from gigabyte+amd 955(worked flawlessly) to an intel core i7 2600k and the current mobo, i kept all the previous components and now i am having trouble booting up my pc. It starts and all the comps seem to work no beep but the monitor LED turns off and on and there is not even a "no signal" notice therefore i dont think its my video card causing the issue.
What could it be? I heard that CPU is the least faulty component.
Is the memory compatible or should i switch? worked fine on previous build.
    Or is it the mobo?

Thanks for the help it happens that it was my dumb monitor not working in hdmi or dvi controller.  Funny cause the component works fine on my ps3.....
So no problem whatsoever just my monitor worned out and needs to rma because its been only 1 year.
But before you leave i had to remove the cpu to check if i put it right... and maybe some thermal contact worn off a little bit because the motherboard bios in the OC section is displaying 55 degrees celcious is that normal(the bar reaches red section)? Room temp 74 degrees. also hardware monitor displays 40 degrees celcious each core Which one should i believe.

  • MSI H61M-E33(B3) updating bios.........file not found

    Hi,
I tried to update the bios MSI H61M-E33(B3) from 10.D to 12.2. After rebooting, i got the message "BIOS Update: ... file not found".
There is something wrong, what could it be?
The following files are on an usb-Stick:
    - 7680vC2.exe (Windows-Installer)
    - EIVB.bin (MD5: 55a1af369b1db5b180a432a8fa5c7178 )
    - IM9T318R (empty directory)
If the stick is missing, i got the message that the bios-update is not finished yet.

    If that doesn't work:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Download the attached archive to your desktop(of any computer)
    Install the forum update tool
Use option 1 of the tool and point it at the entire archive.
It will prepare the flash tool to flash, I am not sure if you are getting far enough to use this, perhap try a full cmos clear as well.
If none of these solutions will work, you will need that spi programmer.

  • MSI H61M E33 B3 audio driver with xp x64

The realtek driver provided in the installation CD didn't work nor the driver in the download section of the product
Tried the realtek driver from realtek website, that too, didn't work
In xp x64, no sound at all
This is the 2nd time I had so much trouble with MSI product, the 1st one is the bad quality MSI FX400 , which fan and optical drive dead for no apparent reason, and the MSI distributor in Indonesia (PT Alfa Artha Andhaya) doesn't give a about the notebook at all, they just tell me to go to another 3rd party service center which charges me around 2 millions rupiah, and disregarded about the MSI warranty on the notebook, with that kind of money, I could even buy a new other brand notebook
Have MSI sunk so low ?
Can anyone help me ? or willing to help, to be more precisely

If you want help it's bad idea to introduce yourself with bashing posts. Please stop that MSI bashing.
The Realtek driver works problem must be elsewhere. What means it doesn't work? No sound on front or rear panel connectors? Are sure to have used XP64 and not XP32 drivers? Does devbice manager of windows show the device unknown or with an exclamation mark?
I only use rear panel because of my 5.1 setup, and the speaker works perfectly in windows 8 x64 and ubuntu
My machine use triple boot OS'es >>> xp x64, win 8 x64, and ubuntu
And yes, there are several exclamation marks in device manager, and the realtek driver doesn't work at all, I installed all the other  xp x64 driver from the product support section
I have erased the xp x64 partition, and I tried to install the realtek driver in xp x64 virtual machine, and it even shows the same symptoms, either failed install or successfull install with no sound at all, and sound section of the control panel, said "no audio device"
This is the first time I encountered so many problem with one mobo during years of my computer hobby
Yes, I want help, but I don't count much on it

  • MSI P67A-G45 (B3) LGA 1155, High temperature of a chipset mainboard

    Hi!
Under "serious" appendices, the chipset is heated to 90-95 degrees
In tests for site MSI in peak loads 71 degree is designated
And specifications it is possible to look at tests under the reference:

    The 48C sounds more acceptable.
If you ever flash the BIOS again, then use the forum flasher. With Live update you have a good chance of bricking the board. >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<

  • H61M-E33 B3 - which BIOS version for i5-3570?

    Hi
My motherboard is MSI H61M-E33 B3,  I was using i3-2100 CPU, but a friend gave me his old i5-3750,  which is far better. I updated my BIOS with Live Update before I swapped CPU's but I guess that my BIOS version is still wrong for this i5, because when I try to run my PC, it beeps 4 times and reset. So my question is, what is exact BIOS version I need for this CPU to work, and where can I download it? I would be really thankful for any help

Does it still work with the 13-2100? Did you clear CMOS after BIOS update?
Yes, and yes. Works perfectly with i3, and I've cleared CMOS, but it didn't help.

Go to MB support page and check the compatibility list.
    for the last 2 digits/letters, A=10, B=11, C=12 etc, so A2 will be 10.2
The problem is, on this page - http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H61ME33_B3.html#hero-overview - On the compatibility tab, my i5 is labeled as "7680vC0.zip" - so i guess BIOS version 12.0 - but on the downloads tab, I see only BIOS 12.3 and 12.2, and the next older one is 10.E :/ Should I download this 12.2 or 12.3 versions?
When I use my Live Update 6 program, with i3 CPU mounted, it tells me that my BIOS version is A.E0 and it is the latest one, and no need to update.
    I'm really, really confused :P

  • H61M-E33 and AHCI

    Hello,
I recently grabbed one of the MSi H61M-E33 mainboards from the Microcenter deal a few days back.  Despite the information I see online, and in the board's user manual, it doesn't appear to have AHCI support.  Does anyone know if MSi is looking into this?  I gave them a call, but they just had me update the BIOS, which did nothing.
In UEFI, it even describes each of the settings like AHCI was supposed to be an option, but it's just not there.  It doesn't look like I'm alone, either.  I see a couple mentions of this around the internet, but I didn't see anything here so I thought I'd ask.
    Thanks!

Might be some information concerning that in this thread; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=146755.0
Interesting.  I didn't see that thread because it's on a different board.  So two of MSi's H61 boards are exhibiting this problem.  I do see they share the same firmware, and looking around online there are rumors that H61MU-E35 has a UEFI update on the way to fix the issue.
    Hopefully this gets corrected soon.

  • MSI Z77MA-G45 LGA 1155 Intel Motherboard z77 please help me

So i just got my MSI Z77MA-G45 LGA 1155 Intel Motherboard z77  slotted it all together all seemed fine untill it wouldn't recognize my hard drive. I currently dont have a dvd drive at the moment so i put all the files of the win7 and msi drivers on the same 8gb stick. When i search for storage intel and see compatible drivers it sees one in RAID which i install but nothing else seems to happen. Ive been in bios and switched it from ahci raid and ide, that ahci etc one and Raid appear to be the same out come ie no harddrive visable. IDE doesnt even load it gets to starting windows logo then black screen and yes a i checked the harddrive is on the bottom sata1. Is my motherboard just defective or is there anything else to try. Sorry i have no other computer to use other than my laptop hopefully get a dvd drive soon (in the post) and hopefully a ssd to see if its the harddrive but i dont think that will make much difference. Cheers for any advise

So now everything seems to be working fine, but when you are in windows, if you leave the computer at idle it crashes?
For now, go into uefi bios and hit f6 for optimized defaults.
    Hit f10 save and exit.
Once you have entered the os, open cpuz and post screen shots of the spd tabs of each memory stick installed and the memory tab. (You can open multiple instances of cpuz and take 1 screen shot.)
*When you do this the bios will default to achi mode remember.

  • MSI X99S XPower AC LGA 2011-v3 M.2 SSD Question

I am planning on purchasing the MSI X99S XPower AC LGA 2011-v3 mobo, using the Haswell Intel® Core™ i7-5820K Processor.  I have two questions:
1.) I am going to purchase a crucial 512GB SSD.  My question is should I purchase the:
     - Crucial M550 512GB SATA M.2 Type 2280 Internal Solid State Drive CT512M550SSD4, or
     - Crucial M550 512GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal Solid State Drive CT512M550SSD1
If I understand this correctly, the first option (M.2) should be noticeable faster?
2.) Any recommendations on Crucial DDR4 memory?  I am going to start with 16 GB, so should I get one stick of 16, or 8GBx2?  I believe there are 8 slots, and if so, do I need to fill them in groups of two, or does this not matter?  Any recommendation for which ones to use to get my 16?
Thanks!  I need to bust out the wallet tomorrow to build my new system.

The only difference between the both is the M.2 or SATA 2.5" format. Both are using an SATA interface. The M550 in M.2 format can't utilize the extra bandwith of M.2 as it's controler controler is just SATA. So what you will choose is just up to your format preference.

LGA 2011-v3 is a quad channel platform so get a 4x4 GB kit. Single (one stick) or dual (two sticks) channel will slow system performance.

  • MSI H81M-E33 BIOS Issues and Post Flash Issues

    Hello,
My situation is as follows: (TL:DR at bottom)
Built a new computer and decided to use the new LGA 1150 refreshed CPUs. Bought the MSI H81M-E33 Motherboard and installed windows. Noticed a problem with the rebooting even when installing windows. Thought it was just because of the windows installation, but problem persisted in which the computer seems to shut down but doesn't power down and i have to manually hold power button to power down and then push it again to start up. No real issues it seems since the computer does close processes and shut down but this was irritating me. I read online that BIOS updates seem to fix this problem. Did some research and decided to update with M-Flash to bios v6.6.
As I used M-flash to update to BIOS (selected "Select one file to update BIOS and ME") v6.6 the update stops at 47% and then the computer attempts to restart. BUT it still has the same problem and does not power down. So I manually powered down and started it back up. I then got "no signal" even as I waited. Now I'm freaking out and I power it down again and try again. This time I wait and it get to BIOS (MSI Screen) and then no signal again (not booting windows). Again I hold power down and power back on. Long wait again and I get back to bios. Still freaked out at this point but relieved I didn't brick motherboard.
Decide to flash v6.5 in case 6.6 was too new and might some problems. However v6.5 has the same problems; bios update stops at 47%, computer attempts to reboot, can't reboot, I power off, power on, no signal, power off, power on, wait a while and it gets to BIOS (MSI Screen), then boots to windows.
Right now the bios does read the bios version as v6.5 but I still have the issues in restarting where that doesn't really work. In addition, I now have this wait from pushing the power button to when I see BIOS (MSI Screen).
    TL:DR
Had reboot problems decided to update BIOS
Used M-flash ("Select one file to update BIOS and ME") to update to v6.6
Update stopped at 47%, computer attempted to reboot, got no signal (reboot problem), powered off, powered on, waited a long time nothing, freaked out, powered off, powered on, waited a while got to bios (Whew), checked for new version (it is).
Decided v6.6 might be too new decided to try v6.5 used M-Flash again
Again stopped at 47%, computer attempted to reboot, got no signal (reboot problem), powered off, powered on, waited a long time, nothing, powered off powered on, waited a while got to bios, checked bios for new version (it is), save and exit, no signal, power off, power on, waited a while got to bios, then booted into windows
    My concerns are;
I seem to still have reboot issue.
I have to wait for BIOS now, no longer pretty quick start.
    My questions are;
Did I mess up the flashing somewhere?
    Was stopping at 47% normal?
Should I try to update the BIOS another method to fix my current problems?
Am I missing a step somewhere?
Any help is appreciated, I just got really freaked out by the whole process but I'm just glad the computer still works (kinda).
Thanks in advance for any help, and apologies on the long essay just wanted to be as specific as possible.

MFlash reboots in the process. To be sure reupdate using the below instructions and archive for a proper fpt flash. If you used Win8 feature (fastboot) before the first update be aware taht you need to set anything again after an update (e.g. enabling safeboot) as everything is set to default.
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive (E7817IMS_660.rar.rar) and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
         F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
