MSI H61M-P31 Wake on LAN
Any idea's how to get WOL working on this board?
As soon as it goes to sleep or shuts down (S5) the NIC is dropping the connection and doesn't respond to the magic packet.
Tried various BIOS settings including disabling EUP2013, enabling Wake on PCI/PCIE, both BIOS and OS control for the power management. Also tried the latest MSI and the latest Realtek drivers on Win 7 64-bit.

Installing a HD 7870 XT 2GB GDDR5 with Boost graphics card on a MSI H61M-P31 G3
Hi,
I have a MSI H61M-P31 (G3) motherboard in my PC and I recently purchased a HD 7870 XT 2GB GDDR5 with Boost graphics card. Before purchasing as far as I could tell the graphics card was compatible with the motherboard. However, what seems to be a similar issue with a lot of people installing new graphics cards is that when I put it in my PC and boot it up the monitor doesn't recieve any signal from it and stays blank. I have installed the drivers, including the optional ones, and they don't compete with my old graphics card drivers because they are the same AMD Catalyst Control Centre. I have trawled the internet and tried numerous things but nothing has worked. Is there a fix or are the componenets just not compatible?
Thanks in advance.Quote

will I need to update my bios if so how do I do that?Quote from: xmad on 23-April-13, 07:26:17

So yes you need to update the bios to at minimum 2.4
I have attached the latest for you.
>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Use option 1 and point the tool at the compressed archive. (Do not decompress or extract the files)
Then point the tool at your fat32 formatted flash drive.
Boot to the usb and proceed with the flash.
also another question can I get Intel CPU Core i3 2120 Sandy Bridge without updating because it's a Sandy Bridge? -
MSI 7788 (MSI H61M-P31) motherboard, intending to use 1.6V memory modules
Hello,
I am intending to purchase a dual channel kit of geil black dragon memory modules. The modules are working at 1.6V. As far as I remember, the moobo specs says that it supports 1.5V dual channel memory modules.
In BIOS, there is the option to change the memory voltage, but it gives me 1.65V.
Should I proceed and purchase the memory modules or I should go for standard 1.5V ?I have dismounted the CPU cooler asembly after a continous burn in procedure and I achieved 120 celsius degree. I checked all the mosfets and the coils, all of them were cold. Speedfan didn't show that sensor reading.
I have installed though AIDA64 and it seems to find that reading as "AUX".

MSI Z68A-G45 wake on lan ?
Hello
How i can enabled wake of lan in Bios on this mainboard ??? I have searched all the settings, but it is nowhere. There is only wake the keyboard, usb.
Thanks for help
PiterAnyone knows about this...
-
Hello,
A few day's ago I ordered the E350IA-E45 to build into a HTPC, but the day after I read a post where someone said that
this board does not support Wake on Lan. So I decided to go searching for confirmation, but I can't seem to find an answer. I've already
searched the manual, but it doesn't say anything about Wake on Lan.
I'm hoping someone here can confirm that it does, or does not support Wake on Lan.
WillieThanks for pointing me in the right direction!
It has a Realtek RTL8111E lan controller, which does support WOL.
Willie -
I need to be able to wake the pc from lan while powered off but in the bios i can't see the option. Can anyone tell me how i can enable this?
Please check this thread and see if the described suggestion solves your problem. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=147898.0
Also check with MSI technical if the WOL function is available in an updated BIOS. >>How to contact MSI.<< -
MSI H61M-P31/W8 Windows 8.1 No Mouse or Keyboard
Hi folks,
There seems to be an issue with a Win 8.1 update (around the start of November) that breaks the mouse and keyboard, specifically it breaks USB.
I managed to boot my machine up with PS2 mouse and keyboard, and Device Manager had two devices with the following error:
"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"
These devices are:
Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enchanced Host Controller - 1C26
Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enchanced Host Controller - 1C2D
I've tried updating the drivers, but with no success.
The general solution seems to be to turn off "Intel XHCI mode" in BIOS, but there's no such option on this motherboard, and nothing that seems related.
Anyone know if this is definitely the same Win 8.1 issue, and know if there's a way to fix it?
TIAYes, and it made no difference.
In fact oddly the system almost ground to a halt, with very slow disk access (in a system with an SSD).
I'm reinstalling 8.1 as I need a working system ASAP.
I'll see what happens following application of updates... -
MSI G70 Dragon Edition 2 and wake on lan
Hi everybody.
Does G70 laptop support wake on lan feature ?
Or how i can get wake on lan feature for this laptop. Here I reply to myself : I think this will be useful to other people, whatever the motherboard model.
So, I just SUCCESSFULLY have been able to wake up my PC from the LAN
Here are my conclusions :
1- There's nothing in the motherboard documentation that explicitly indicates that it's supported. But it is !
2 - I didn't need to connect the LAN card to the motherboard (didn't need any WOL connection)
3 - I have a patched Windows XP. But its standard drivers for my network card weren't enough. I had to install the updated drivers from the manufacturer (admtek).
4 - With these drivers, I could then access, from Windows devices setup tool, to the network adapter APM properties, and I could "Allow Device to Bring Computer Out of Standby".
5. Inside the BIOS, a few things to setup :
Power Management Features
-> IPCA Function : Enabled
-> Power Management / APM : Enabled
-> Set Wake Up Events ... Wake Up On PME# : Enabled
Actually, this means that there is no explicit need for a "Wake On LAN" configuration. It all goes through PME# (i.e. direct PCI) wakeup events.
6. Then it works :-)
The excellent free tool available at

does the job at the remote computer side (when fed with the valid MAC and IP addresses).
I'm very pleased... but I wish MSI had somehow indicated that the motherboard is WOL capable !

Does MSI Wind Box DE220 support wake on lan?
I have searched and contacted resellers but have not yet found any evidence that the MSI Wind Box DE220 support wake on lan.
Can someone here please confirm if it does or if it does not?
Thanks in advance! You could wait a long time for an answer here, or you could try asking MSI directly:
>>How to contact MSI.<<
Generally, people come here looking for answers to problems. Once they get their answer, unfortunately many never come back. As the Wind Box DE220 is not a very common product, not many people have come here regarding it.
None of the forum staff here work for MSI, and none of us have this item readily at hand to test for you, sorry.
I'm pretty sure it should be possible though; modern mainboards typically don't have a specific 'Wake-On-LAN' option, as it is controlled by the operating system, as Bas states already, it is configured through the LAN device's properties in Device Manager. -
MSI 645 Ultra and "Wake On LAN" ???
Hello,
This question is aimed at the following people :
- Someone who owns a MSI 645-Ultra motherboard, and who has some experience about it's "Wake On LAN" capabilities,
or,
- Someone at MSI who knows the detailed specifications of this motherboard (related to its "Wake On LAN" capabilities).
I own a "MSI 645 Ultra" motherboard for some time now (more than a year). It's based on SIS 645 chipset.
Currently, I'm trying to make the computer boot on demand, through the LAN.
So, I have an appropriate network card : its based on Admtek AN983, it supports "Wake On LAN" (WOL), and a WOL cable was included.
About the MSI 645 Ultra motherboard, I looked at the documentation, and, surprisingly, I didn't find any mention of the WOL feature.
Too sad, this "modern" motherboard doesn't support WOL feature ??
The doc says there is support for WOR (Wake on modem Ring), and there is a WOR connector. But no WOL connector.
So, what's the status of this motherboard, regarding WOL support ??
- Is it internally supported, without the need of a WOL connection, directly through PCI and PME signaling ?
- Can I use the motherboard WOR input connector, and plug the network card's WOL into it ?
- Is all of this non sense ??
Thanks in advance for your clarifications and tips.
Technical replies are welcome (I have a solid networking background)
GuillaumeHere I reply to myself : I think this will be useful to other people, whatever the motherboard model.
-> IPCA Function : Enabled
-> Power Management / APM : Enabled
-> Set Wake Up Events ... Wake Up On PME# : Enabled
Actually, this means that there is no explicit need for a "Wake On LAN" configuration. It all goes through PME# (i.e. direct PCI) wakeup events.
6. Then it works :-)

I'm very pleased... but I wish MSI had somehow indicated that the motherboard is WOL capable !

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (WAKE On Lan with Realtek)?
Hello can the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (BIOS 1.B) WAKE On Lan with the Realtek card?
It does not appear to work for me and there is nothing in the BIOS.
My WOL packets wake up other PC's.
Please Help.Hello !
Go into Bios Setup, Integrated Periphals, and disable the nvidia Lan, but let the Onboard LAN enabled.
Now go to PCI Configuration, Wakeup Events, and enable wakeup on PCI event and wake on LAN.
Check in Boot Order Menu if you can select the realtek onboard Lan as first booting device, push it in first place.
Another Option could be using the nvidia Lan, its reported to work with wakeon lan.

No.
It is difficult to identify where the problem is then

... and to make matters worse, during extensive testing of this Wake on LAN issue, I set:
Wake Up Event By: [OS]
Resume From S3 by USB Device [Enabled]
and my USB keyboard is also unable to wake from S3/Sleep. When Wake Up Event By: [BIOS] is set, the USB keyboard is able to wake from S3/S4/S5.
Well mine does not wake up by keyboard, which is what I want, I need to see if keyboard with power key will work.

Last week, I submitted a support ticket with MSI, who responded with a basic set of wake on LAN instruction. I explained that, although I have followed the instructions, it still does not work. MSI have now gone silent on me.
I had somewhat similar experience with ASUS, but they just kept repeasting themselves, seems like language barrier or they just pretending. -
How to enable Wake On Lan on MSi P45 Neo2?
Hi,
I just bought a P45 Neo2, and I think I have WOL on this machine, as the Realtek chipset 8111C does support the feature. However, I'm not sure how to
- enable
- use
the function. Can you help me?
Under Device Manager, I go to the Realtek network adapter --> Properties --> Power Management --> Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby.
Now, it is enabled. How should I use it? I would be very thankful :-).Please have a look here first for basic introduction to Wake on LAN and "Magic Packets":
