MSI H61MA-E35

Hi,
I've just recently bough a MSI H61MA-E35 and i have a big problem :
The pc works perfectly with only one slot of ram, the   slot N°2.
If i had ram on RAM 1 slot,  the pc boot few seconds then shut dow then boot infinitly.
I test my ram (2gb * 2) and each one with Memory test, no problem.
I alternatly use one then the other to lauch the PC, no problem as soon as i use only Ram 2 Slot.
If i dare to add ram on Ram 1 the PC boot then shut downi immetidatly after few seconds.
So iam froce to work with 2Gb of Ram instead of my 4Gb. Otherwise, i shoud by a 4gb Ram instead.
Why should i do to change that in BIOS ?
I precise : all others components have been test and are OK.
Thanks for your support.

Please state all your components. See my signature as an example.
The CPU seating is sometimes the cause of RAM slot problems.
It may be that one or more pins of your CPU socket were bent upon installation ?

  • MSI H61MA-E35 - After bios update PC not sleeping correctly

    Hi,
I have just built up a pc with the motherboard H61MA-E35. Initially I had windows installed and when hitting sleep the PC would go into sleep with all monitors, fans, power supplies all turned off. After I updated to the latest BIOS 7740V20 I am having issues with the power saving features. The PC goes into sleep and my monitors, mouse and keyboard are turned off. The pc fans, cpu fan and power supply still remains on and the power light doesn't blink as it should.
I had thought initially this was a windows/driver problem. I installed a fresh copy of windows and all the drivers supplied. I also updated to the latest drivers via liveupdate. This didn't resolve the issue. I then thought it was a power supply issue and so I installed another power supply into the machine and this did not solve the issue also.
I tried to downgrade the BIOS to the older version 7740V12 but I can't as it tells me that the ROM FILE ROMID IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE EXISTING BIOS ROMID.
Any help on how to resolve this will be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Castor

Any ideas if there are issues with this Bios version causing pc not to sleep completely or shutdown completely. Just tried shutting down and peripherals and monitor turn off but the pc fans and CPU fan, power supply and power light remain on.
Ah ok, it wouldn't flash to a Sandy version at all, had misinterpreted that, sorry. Then the chip corruption was avoided, that is a good thing.
It might be a setting someplace that needs to be disabled. Maybe EuP 2013 or C-State?

  • MSI H61MA-E35 (B3) chipset emperature

I have this MB with Intel G30T + 2x2GB RAM and 1x1TB HDD.
Immediately after power-on and entering Bios I can read chipset temperature at 60degC level.  Later in Windows /runs in idle/ temperature slowly grows up to 70-75degC /measured by MSI Control Center/. If I touch heatsink it is hot. Is that normal behavior ? Temperatures  should be in 40-45degC range I think. I tried to apply new thermal conductive paste, but same result as with original one. Bios is updated to last possible version. Any suggestion please ?

I changed orientation of fans - 1 is outtake, and 2 are intake and runs at full speed - noisy. Temps are about 70 degC. So it is not HTPC Ready MoBo as it is writen on it
BTW : HTPC- means High Temperature PC ?
    BSOD apears frequently -
During Win install I made several images with Acronis True Image - I have image of win7 just after fresh instalation - without any drivers, next image with MSI drivers, next with Windows updates, next with programs what I want.
After instalation system is running, several restarts are done, all is OK /just temperature  /
During 1st boot of day, after showing Win desktop for 10-15second goes BSOD - with text Memory management or "fpn list something" - BSOD is so fast to read it
Here on forum someone had similar problems - so I increased RAM voltage - for me not succsesful
I decrased RAM frequency from auto to 1066MHz - not succsesful
I recovered system from Acronis images /checked all/ - not helpfull
Recovered to another HDD - not helpfull
Start to windows safe mode /F8/ often collapse earlier than I'm able to check event logs - "Explorer stop working- it is necessary to restart process"
I started instalation again from begining - succesfull, but next day there is same ceremony

  • MOVED: USB 3.0 fake ports on MSI H61MA-E35 ?

This topic has been moved to Linux/Unix.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=157923.0

    flobelix,
thanks for the reply.  I agree that the product specifications do not list any usb3.0
The manual however lists usb3.0 as optional and if you zoom in on the picture on the product page, you can see where painted on the board  "Nec USB3.0"  I have the exact same board as in the picture.
Odd that they painted usb3.0 on the board but did not install the chip for it.  Not a big issue for me.  my guess is that they will be possibly releasing soon a newer than ver2.1 revision of this board that will include 3.0 ports on it.

  • MSI H61MA-E35 bios flashing troubles

    Hi!
I buy this MOBO and i want to flash it to v2.0 or v2.1 bios. But all the versions downloaded from msi support site are corrupted or something. Both v2 and v2.1 are nonflashable via M-flash and when I tried to flash from DOS via afude238 it says that ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID.
    Excuse me, but msi?

nope you can prepare the USB stick in some PC,

  • H61MA-E35 system freezes randomly with 16GB RAM

    Hi folks,
I think I'm having a problem with this H61MA-E35 motherboard.
    I have the following specs:
    - Intel Core i5 3450
    - Corsair Vengeance 16GB (PC3-12800, 1600 Mhz) (2x8GB)
    - Antec VP Power 450 watt
    - ATI Radeon HD 5670
The problem is that the system randomly freezes in Win7 64bits. Sometimes just quickly after boot, otherwise after 1 hour or even longer.
First I thought it was the graphic card, but when I used Intel i5's internal graphic device, the same freezing problem occured.
Second, I thought it was the memory causing the problem. However, I tested the memory in memtest 86+ (6 passes). When I test each memory stick seperate, then no freezes occur. I also tested cheap Transcend 2GB memory, without problems as well.
Is there something known about issues of the H61MA-E35 and the max. amount of allowed RAM (16GB)?

    Thanks for the quick respond!
I think 1600 was supported after one of the BIOS updates (http://nl.msi.com/product/mb/H61MA-E35--B3-.html#/?div=BIOS).
    - Improved memory compatibility.
The BIOS settings weren't configured by me, but by a friend. Here are the BIOS screens, which values should I edit?
    Possible DRAM Frequency includes auto, 800, 1066, 1333, 1400 and 1600.
Should I set them to 1333?
These values were apparently set as well. Should I set them back to auto?
    EDIT:
    - Unfortunately I have no extra pair of memory to test.
    - Is a CMOS clearing method better than just changing these BIOS settings?
    EDIT 2:
This is the RAM memory: http://www.corsair.com/en/memory-by-product-family/vengeance/vengeance-16gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz16gx3m2a1600c10.html

    You are reading it wrong.
We have consumer products, i.e. the versions that consumers buy and which is supported under the Mainstream support.
Then there are Business and Developer products will and they will receive at least 10 years of online self-help support.
Your license will determine which category you fall in.
    Quote
Extended Support is not offered for Consumer and Multimedia products.
We have just been through the XP fiasco. Its still supported for the industry, but consumers get no more updates.
Mainstream support ends Jan2015. That's the one that consumers are entitled to.
Maybe so, but I can't see how...  Here's another link to the same chart:
    http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/default.aspx?LN=en-us&x=8&y=13
Note the heading for the chart:
Phases of the Support Lifecycle for Business, Developer, Consumer and Multimedia Software
To me, that says that the consumer versions of Win7 go to extended support in 2015, in which the only updates people will receive for it until EoL in 2020 are security updates.  Exactly the same thing was done with XP, IIRC.  The only updates WinXP received for the past several years were security updates and regular updates for the XP version of MSE.  Why should Microsoft treat Win7 any different? As you see in the chart, paid-for support is in a different category from security updates.  You can get the same paid-for support in Windows 7 in the extended period that you can buy right now for Win7 in the mainstream period.  The only service carried forward into the extended period that will continue to be free of charge are the security updates as hotfixes, patches, and feature updates for Win7 will be discontinued when Win7 support shifts into extended support next year.

  • MSI H67MA-E35-B3 S/PDIF internal connector

A quick question before I decide on buying a new motherboard... Does the MSI H67MA-E35-B3 come with an S/PDIF out connector/bracket for its internal header??
    Thanks.

If they don't come with one there are other brackets readily available that will work on it. Those S/PDIF brackets rarely come with a MB.

  • MSI H61I-E35-B3 Mini ITX and Intel Xeon LGA1155 Cpu ?

    Hi,
I've bought MSI H61I-E35-B3 Mini ITX board, it supports LGA1155 processors, core i3 / i5 / i7. My question is - have anyone tested this board with Intel Xeon processor ? For example Intel Xeon E3-1235 3.20GHz LGA1155. I've read in some other Mini ITX LGA 1155 boards descryptions, that they suport this cpu's. Maybe this one can also support it.

It's not in the supported list;  http://eu.msi.com/product/mb/H61I-E35--B3-.html#/?div=CPUSupport
Recommend to confirm with MSI Tech Support; http://support.msi.com

Hold up there buddy, dont rma it yet. I have the same board, had the same problem straight out of box. MSI sent out a batch of those boards with the wrong jumper settings. Look on your motherboard near the rear  ios inputs. look for a header labeled jusb-pw2. flip that jumper to the top two pins and clear the cmos and you should be good
