Only with MSI vgas of the Gaming series (= even other MSI vgas won't work)

Choose what you like. Both are H87 boards hence no cpu oc possible anyway. VGA boost is not really worth buying a board for. The Gaming board features other extras like Killer LAN and enhanced onboard sound.

HI. I just bought Gigabyte GV n65Toc 1gi. When i tried to install the vga driver i got error messege that says: cant find compatible hardware.
So i checked board explorer and the pci slot is empty. Meanwhile the vga is "running", the fan is working, leds are light.
I've already updated the bios and everyhting but its still "empty" .

you have to ask Gigabyte, as this card is not MSI one

  • XMP Profile with H87 G43 Gaming

Hi, I just purchased Mainboard H87 G43 Gaming for my new rig.
I just notice that my Corsair RAM ( CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 2x4GB DDR3 Timing 9-9-9-24 ) is not run its full potential.
It should can run at 1600Mhz. Instead it just run at 1333Mhz as default.
After that I decided to enable XMP from BIOS. But my CPU will not boot if I enable it.
Fyi, I just enable XMP without touching other options in BIOS and I have experience in enabling XMP with the same RAM sticks in another board without problem.
I already update BIOS using version B4 and B3. But still no success :(
Please refer to the screen capture for the setting in BIOS :
    Do I miss something?

Disable XMP, set DRAM Frequency manual out of Auto to 1600, set DRAM V. to 1.565v's or so, if need be, set Dram Timing Mode to Link, set timings manual CR 1, 9 9 9 24. That should do it.
    Thanks for the response.
I just test each RAM stick and found out that 1 of it is faulty.
Its a bit strange that 1 month ago it worked great in my old Mainboard.
Anyway, I just RMA the RAM sticks and get the new one. now works perfectly

  • MSI H87-G43

    Hello,
I am trying to figure out if this board MSI H87-G43 supports the Haswell Refresh CPU's straight out of the box.  I have a feeling it does not, as the latest BIOS 2.7 mentions the Haswell Refresh CPU's.  So essentially If I purchase the board I would be playing Russian roulette with the hope that the board was updated to 2.7.   Any solution to this?  Do I have  to have another CPU just to update the board?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Any board that left the fab after 2014-02-25 supports the refresh cpus out of the box (hence being at bios 2.7). Older boards would need to be updated else no Haswell refresh would work (and you'd need an older Haswell to flash).
If you can check the board's S/N you can find out the date of manufacture.
    example:
    601-7816-XXXX131209XXXX
In this case board would be manufactured 2013-12-09. Position of the date is identical in any S/N for boards.

  • MSI Z77A-G43 Gaming Crossfire

    Hi there,
It´s my first post here so greetings all  I have a question regarding MSI Z87 G43 GAMING motherboard and crossfire. I noticed, a bit too late, that the G43 does not crossfire in a x8/x8 mode! Is this a performance compromiser? I mean, I´ve noticed a great scaling in BF4 with seetings in High (no AA; with SSAO) running the game with a 3 screen display - compared with single card I went from 50-80 FPS to 70-130.
So, if I understand correctly from the board specs, I have one graphic card at x16 and the other x4?
    Thanks for your attention.

So... I´ve been searching other MSI alternatives towards minimizing the cost of my ignorance. I found MSI Z87-G55 - 3 PCIe 3.0x16. The price is 30€ less than the G45 (110€ vs 140€) and the only visible diference is the network adapter (Realtek® RTL8111G Vs Killer E2205). Can you tell me if this is a good choice?
    My specs:
    Core i7 4770K
    Gskill 2*8GB 1866
    SSD Samsung 840
    ASUS 7970ghz DCII Top
    PowerColor R9280X
Also checked the G55 OC Genie feature in BIOS. I´m currently using that with my G43 and it´s very simple efficient and absolutely stable and trouble free. Is the BIOS in the G55 similar to the G43? Hope you could answer all this m8... sorry for such inquiry :P
    Thanks again for your attention

My question is, why it takes up to 10 seconds to power on before seeing the MSI logo.
My rig boots in Windows 8.1 Pro UEFI mode with RAID, see summary of rig below.
When booting it sometimes takes up to 10 seconds for the MSI screen to appear, the one with the MSI logo. Once the MSI logo appears the boot is fast, usually between 6 to 8 seconds.
Total boot time around 16 seconds

Yes, nothing suspicious there, everything loads perfectly. See result below.
From the moment this is displayed, it takes just 6 seconds for Windows to be functional. However, it takes around 10 seconds before this appears on the display.
To be clear, or at least for me to be clear, what you see in the screenshot is the BOOT and not the POST, during the actual POST (power on self-test), the user should not see anything on the display.

  • MSI Z87-G43 gaming + i5 4690K compatibility

    hello there
so, i built a new pc a few days ago and i decided to go with these 2 options (msi z87-g43 gaming + i5 4690K)
anyway, i saw that some people have issues and that it's kind of a roll of a dice whether this specific motherboard will boot with the 4690K or not. From what i saw, it depends on the motherboard's manufacture date and if it has a A5/A6 bios version or not.
now, what i'd like to know is; is there a way to check the bios version of the specific motherboard without opening the box? (i'll have my new hardware probably tomorrow)
i'm really thinking about getting another mobo, i'm not sure what i'll do though.. A friend told me, even though it wont have the A5/A6 bios version, it'll probably  boot and i'll be able to update it through windows. He also told me there's a really small chance i'll need another cpu to update the bios and then put my cpu on the mobo.. As i said, roll of a dice.
    Any advices/tips?

  • MSI Z87-G43 Gaming and R9 290 OC Windforce not playing nice

Hi, already tried search but can find a solution, i have an Z87-G43 Gaming(Bios 10.30) and bought an Gigabyte R9 290 OC ref:GV-R929OC-4GD-GA(BIOS F3L). All is on latest Firmware/BIOS.
The problem is that the motherboard wont recognize my 290 on first PCIE 3. It works on second 16x slot. THe thing is... An Gigabyte 7950,Sapphire 7970, Unknown NVIDIA 7200gs all work in the first slot... now that i got bf4 my 290 doesnt work in the first slot... Latest bios from MSI say's vga compat. improved. The computer boots fine with the integrated vga and in bios it shows the first slot as empty. Anyone?

Like I said best to contact both and see what you can do. When I check VBIOS for MSI cards, there are normally newer versions available, so best to check. On the other hand if it is a bios issue, MSI can get on it.

What would exactly be "RMA the mobo"?
it means to send the board back to reseller or msi for repair/replacement

have you checked mixer settings, volume control?
what audio you've played? maybe the volume is low from the player?
have you tried to re-plug the speakers jacks to ensure its filled all the way to the audio ports?
have you tried a different speakers set?
