MSI K7D Dual AMD PCI Bridge Help

I noticed in the Device Mgr, there is a question mark next to other devices, and below it,  there is an exclamation/question mark next to Other PCI Bridge Device.
What is this Other PCI Bridge Device?  Is there a driver for it or is this a hardware problem?  How do I fix that?
I have a MSI K7D Dual AMD 2400MP, 2GB Mushkin ECC RAM, GF4 4600 Video card, and using Win2k.
Thanks.

with dual motherboard you should have a 2nd IRQ controler is that installed? maybe its that "other"
with a dual motherboard you should have 255 IRQ's

OK so I've completed my first Dual Athlon and I'm getting some varied results. here's the specs:
MSI K7D Master AMD Dual Athlon MP Motherboard ATX
    Dual 2400+
    Antec 350W
    various NVIDIA video cards
    Kingston 266/512 64X64 DDR
I first tried a Wildcat 5110 but got no video, 3DLabs tells me this mobo has not been tested and cleared by them, so heads-up don't go with this mobo/video combo.
I went to NVIDIA and got video, I set the system jumper to 133MHz. I got a RAM error, change sticks (I have several of the same kind) but get the same result. After several attempts the machine boots and I install WinXP.
Now it is hit and miss sometimes I get the RAM error and the machine just sits there, sometimes it boots but the mouse doesn't work other times it seems to boot fine but the programs (3D Studio Max / Brazil) will just quit for no apparent reason. I set the BIOS to to check the RAM on start-up, it finds no errors.
I really appreciate hearing any ides or from anyone who has attempted this sort of thing before.

    Very cool thank you.
Well I got a call back from MSI customer service, they said try going to 'Advanced chipset' and change the 'AGP Fastload' from whatever it is to the opposite state (enable vs disable) I think the default is enable. I tried that, but it was the same if not worse. I reset the BIOS, set the fsb to 100MHz flipped the 'AGP Fastload' and that, of all things worked. Giving credit to the cs department - it did not work without changeing the Fastload state.
I got the 3DS Max/serverrunning and here are some statistics:
Rendered with Brazil, tons pf polygons, reflection and refraction.
    Athlon 2500XP (non-Barton) 1gig unbuffered MSI KM4M:
3 hours 15 minutes per frame.
    Intel P4 2.4 533MHz fsb 1 gig unbuffered MSI 845GE (northwood)
2 hours 54 minutes minutes per frame.
    K7D Master 100Mhz fsb (non-Barton) 1gig unbuffered value ram.
1 hour 15 minutes per frame.
I will try the ecc registered RAM next week. If the results are this good with the jumper set to 100MHz I really looking forward to checking out the 133MHz...
    Any suggestions on brand/configuration ?

Help with PCI Bridge - MS-6378
    Greetings!
I'm having a problem in the Win98 Device Manger. In the device manager, there is a question mark next to other devices, and below it, there is an exclamation/question mark next to Other PCI Bridge Device.
What is this Other PCI Bridge Device? Is there a driver for it or is this a hardware problem? How do I fix that?
    Config:
    AMD Duron 1.3g
    Win98 - clean, new install.
    Via 4-1 drivers installed.
    Thanks,
    Darth

Try extracting the files from the 4-in-1's to a folder, then try updating the drivers for your PCI bridge, pointing it to the folder you extracted the files into, when asked.  It should load a driver for the South Bridge chip.

The first error began when I booted my desktop up and my was black with a 9C on the bottom, my computer boots up fine. As I move on, the Ethernet connections have disappeared, no connections popping up nor any to connect to. Eventually I move my boot order to hard disk, (maybe?) fixing this 9C error, however my Ethernet still unconnected.I boot once more, now an A2 error plagues me.
TLDR; Booted from a 9C error, broken ethernet, and now stuck an A2 error.

Be aware it will show codes whether there is an issue or not as these are the steps of the booting process it goes through. Only if it stops at one certain code and won't continue there is an issue.try updating to bios 2.7:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
         F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash with 2.7
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip
When I boot from USB , a black screen appears with a blinking underscore. Also, when I boot from USB, two names of my USB appear. I followed Steps A-E correctly but booting from the USB gives a blank screen.

  • MSI K7D Master-L & 3ware 7506-4LP boot hang

I recently purchased a 3ware Escalade 7506-4LP RAID Controller (IDE, 4 ports - see product info here) for use with my MSI K7D Master-L (MSI-6501-030 - see product info here) to replace my Promise FastTrak100 TX4. On boot, the system POSTs fine, and then freezes solid at the point at which it should load the BIOS for the 3ware controller. I get nothing but a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the top left hand corner, and a hard reset (CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work) is required to to reset the machine. The diagnostic LEDs on the motherboard indicate it's freezing at the point where it is "Initializing IDE controller".
    What I have tried:
    - Verified BIOS on RAID card was latest version (1.08.00.048)
    - Removed all PCI cards (except for RAID controller and video card)
    - Adding 33 MHz PCI cards to 64/66 PCI slot to slow down bus
    - Tried RAID controller in each PCI slot
    - Flashed the motherboard BIOS to 3 different versions, 1.91, 1.82, and 1.5 (which the motherboard was validated for use with this card on - see here)
    - Tried various BIOS settings (ACPI on/off, PCI Latency, etc)
    - Disabled all onboard devices (sound, ide, fdc, serial, parallel, etc.)
    - Detached all drives from card
    - Tested card in another computer to verify it works - it does.
I have noticed some people on this forum have had similar problems with SCSI or RAID cards:

  • Standard PCI to PCI bridge no longer working after BIOS update

    Hey everyone,
Before I get into the details of what is probably the most frustrating computer problem I have ever faced I would first like to say hello because this is my first post and I give you my system specs.
    Windows 7 ultimate x64
    GA-M61PME-S2P (rev 1.0) MOBO
    2x 120GB Mushkin SSD @3.5gbps Raid 0
AMD Phenom II x4 @2.2 GHZ (Old processor that I replaced)
AMD Phenom II 1090T x6 @ 3.2GHZ (New processor that replaced the Phenom x4)
MSI Cyclone GTX 550 TI OC (Nvidia)
    8 Gigs 800mhz DDR2 RAM (Computer Bay)
    I have had a GA-M61PME-S2P (rev 1.0) board for several years now and have never had any problems. I recently bought a brand new AMD phenom II x6 1090T processor because it was listed as being supported by my board. The BIOS version that I had installed before purchasing this processor (version F5) was unable to recognize my new processor and boot so I had to update to the latest version (version F7b). After flashing my BIOS with the new version I was able to boot and my computer recognized my processor with the correct name and clock speeds. Unfortunately it now no longer recognizes one of my standard PCI to PCI bridges. Of the two standard PCI to PCI bridges listed in device manager one of them has a yellow exclamation point and reads "error code 35 firmware does not contain enough info to configure this device". I have tried everything I can think of but just cant seem to get my processor and graphics card to work under the same BIOS version. I will now list every step I have taken;
1.)  I have re-flashed several times between versions F5 and F7b but always get the same results
2.)  I have used Driver cleaner in safe mode to wipe all drivers and then double checked programs and features to make sure nothing was still installed.
3.)  I have installed all drivers for the board from Gigabytes website, although when I try to install the VGA driver i get an error saying that no device could be found that supports the driver.
4.) I once again wiped everything in safe mode and then found the latest chipset drivers for nvidia Nforce from NVidia's site but got the same results.
5.) I tried downloading the F7b BIOS from some random website  just in case the file from Gigabyte was somehow broken but this did not change anything. (I know that's generally a bad idea but I am desperate)
6.) I uninstalled the problem standard PCI to PCI bridge in device manager and restarted my computer but got the same results.
7.) I tried installing my graphics card drivers from MSI but got an error saying that no supported hardware could be found.
8.) I tried installing a number of different versions of the Nvidia graphics card drivers for my series but kept getting that same error message
9.) I downloaded the Graphics card detector program that NVidia provides on their site but it told me that it could not detect my graphics card.
10.) I tried Flashing my BIOS to the F6 version for the rev 1.3 board but this turned out to be a huge mistake because my computer would no longer post after this and I had to use a FAT32 flash drive and the q-flash utility to bring it back to life.
11.) I checked over and over and over again that my BIOS settings were right and nothing was setup to only use on-board graphics.
12.) I tried downloading a driver that was supposedly for the PCI to PCI bridge but im fairly sure this was just a trojan because the install did not complete and I found tons of fun plugins installed afterwards (I reformatted shortly after this).
13.) I made sure that my new processor was plugged in and that my BIOS was version F7b and then completely wiped my hard drive and re-installed windows 7 ultimate x64 but got the same results.
14.) I made a bootable DOS flash drive and tried updating my Graphics card BIOS but found that I already have the latest version.
What I don't understand is that my graphics card works perfectly with BIOS version F5 and my processor works perfectly with BIOS version F7b but under no circumstance do they both work at the same time. It may be worth noting that with version F7b installed I am still able to use my graphics card ( my Monitor is plugged into it via DVI) It just gives me the error under device manager and I can not install any drivers.
If anyone out there can help me I will be insanely grateful and will refer to you from then on as the master of all things MSI. I'm at my wits end,  If you need any further info just ask and I will provide.

Ah ok I was afraid you were going to say that. I will take this to gigabyte then but just so I know, This PCI to PCI bridge problem couldn't have anything to do with my MSI graphics card BIOS somehow not being compatible with the Gigabyte BIOS?
    -Thank you!

  • Code 12 on [VIA PCI to PCI Bridge Controller]

    Hi,
I am having an issue while setting up a new pc with the following setup:
    MotherBoard: MSI P4M900M3
    CPU: Pentium Dual Core e2180
    Memory: 2 * 1Gb Kingston DDR2 667
    Harddisk: Hitachi SATA 320Gb Harddisk
OS: Windows Professional (upgrade to SP3)
Using the build-in video and audio card provided in the motherboard.
After I installed the OS, i find a yellow exclamation mark in [Device Manager] -> [System Devices] -> [VIA PCI to PCI Bridge Controller] (there are 2 of these entries with the same problem) indicating the problem is :
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12).
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
I have tried removing the 2 entries and let windows detect it automatically but the same problem still show up.
I have only 1 harddisk, 1 dvd drive and 1 floppy drive connected to the motherboard so i wasn't expecting such conflicts to show up.
    Please help.

Have you tried to delete them, and let's windows to re-detect them?
Have you done >>Clear CMOS Guide<<?
    What mainboard you have? {P4M900M3-F or P4M900M3-L}

  • K8N Neo2 Driver Problem with PCI Bridge.

I updated the Bios on this machine last night to 1.04 from 1.03
    K8N - Neo2
AMD 3500+ Retail Kit with Cooler
    Antec True430W 3.3v/28A 5v/36A 12v/26A
OCZ 2X512 EL DDR400 PC 3200 Plat Ed Dual Channel
Seagate Barracuda 120g 7200 rpm SATA
    TSST Corp DVD-ROM TS-H
    ATI Radeon 9000 64mb AGP
    Windows XP SP2
It started acting funny several hours after the update of the Bios, this AM it spontaneously rebooted and when it came up there was an error message about a damaged or corrupt Windows system file and suggested inserting the Windows Disk, which was done and then the system booted into windows. But the found new hardware came up and wanted driver for the PCI bridge, which I wasn't sure where it was so I let it complete without finding it and this is the error when I go to control panel/system/hardware/device mgr
Where do I get this driver? Is it on the driver disk that came with the motherboard? I don't remember having to install a driver for the PCI bridge.
    thanks

OK I thought I'd post the resolution to my problem.
After my initial posts the machine not only became unstable but it wouldn't boot into windows saying there was a corrupt Windows System File.
    1.  It occured to me that when I downloaded the new bios and applied it that I had failed to customize the DRAM settings in the bios. This was important because when I was building the machine I couldn't get Windows XP to install it always pooped out someplace early in the install.  At the time I was using default DRAM settings.  But I came here and read through the forum and found a sticky at the top of the forum that had settings for a number of different memory sticks including mine. So I went back and updated my bios with those setting. Voila everything was cool and I was able to load windows and move forward.   But I forgot that, and I attribute the instability of the system to that, wheter or not it was why the system eventually corrupted system board dirvers I don't know.  But I did change that, as the system would boot but just not boot windows.
    2. Next, I decided to attempt to repair my windows install.  However first since I had already applied SP2, and my Install disk was just the plain retail without any Service Packs.  I decided to make a new bootable install disk with SP2 slipstreamed into it so when I repaired I wouldn't have to reapply SP2.    Here's the method that I used.
    http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html
    3.  Utilized the windows repair feature of windows setup.
    4. That worked my computer now booted into windows and I didn't lose data or configurations....whew!!
    5.  I still how ever was stuck with the original problem that started this thread..rats!! I thought SP2 would fix that.
    6.  I tried several times to get XP to update the driver, but I couldn't.  I even tried to select the driver from the list that is one of the optioins when you are updating drivers.  I found some but I wasn't sure which one that had PCI bridge in it was the right one. But the fact that when I was looking at the list of mfg only Compaq and NVidia were available. So a light bulb went off and opened up MSI Live  and looked at what was available in drivers, and sure enought there was a NVida driver.  So I figured I have nothing to lose.
    7. Next I downloaded the latest NVida nForce3 system driverfrom MSI and applied.
    8.  Bingo that worked, no more yellow ?'s in my hardware list.
Machine working fine now.  Still don't know if failing to insert the proper DRAM stuff caused this but it all started with the new bios so I am assuming it had some part.

  • Pci to pci bridge error code 35 after installing my new graphics card

    hello everyone
first of all i am not sure if in the right section of the forum to post this...if not i am sorry.
well about my problem...i ve bought this new graphics card msi geforce gt430 and a new psu which is 580 watt and yesterday i installed em both.and then i turned on my pc. the thing is windows cant detect my grsphics card.there is this yellow exclamation mark on pci standard pci to pci bridge in device manager menu.i tried uninstalling pci to pci bridges and rebooting my pc.it didnt help.i also tried updating every single driver again nothing changed.i also have one of the latest bios so i dont think it should be related to bios.i have no idea how to fix this.i am a little bit ignorant when it comes to pc hardware.i can use all the help i can get.
thanks for your helps in advance.
    astinwald

Yup, wrong part of the forum.
Sven will move it next time he's here.
Pci2pci is a motherboard thing but could interfere with gfx detection.
I know you said you'd reinstalled all drivers but...
Did you get the latest drivers for your motherboard?
If that doesn't fix it I guess the next step would be a complete OS reinstall...

  • DKA790GX PCI to PCI Bridge issue

    Hello,
    I get a DKA790GX Platinum with vista ultimate x64 (EN/FR) and 8GB RAM + Phenom 9950 BE.
I decided to build soft Raid 5 with sil3132 chipset via e-sata support connected to a raid  box with 4 sata 2 drive
I installed this additional card on a PCI-E slot
Now I obtain an unknown device PCI to PCI Bridge that I could not update anyway. I browse some forum about related issues and many users upgrade bios to resolve conflict
So I updated my bios to version 1.3. Operation has successfully completed but my problem still remain
Th silicon device is recognized I can browse and build Raid group but, I stuck to 18MB/s  that's far away from 3Gb.
I think this bottlekneck is due to bad PCI brigde

  • MSI K7D Problem

I have a vanilla MSI K7D mobo.  I upgraded the cpus today, to a couple MP2400s.  I am running bios ver 1.5, and the cpus are recognized as 2 x MP2400s.  The OS is Windows XP Pro.
The problem is that it doesn't seem to like rebooting or shutting down.  It works fine while you're in Windows but when you do a "Start" ==> "Turn Off Computer" ==> "Restart Computer" or "Turn Off" it exits Windows, the screen turns black and locks up.
You need to turn it off with the ATX switch, wait a few seconds and it'll power back on.  The strange thing is, it seems to run fine in Windows it just won't reboot or shut down properly without the machine locking up.
I heard that there is a bios ver 1.6 which should take care of this problem.  However, I can not find it on MSI's web site.
Anyone have an idea what could be causing this problem?  It ran fine before the upgrade with a pair of MP2000s.
    Help!!!  ?(

    Goobee,

  • MSI K7D Won't Boot. :-(

    Hello everyone!
I'd been reading but I can't seem to find the solutions.
I bought a MSI K7D-L Master (red motherboard) with D-Bracket, and USB 2.0 card.
My system wouln't boot and stuck with the DLED lights as the following:
    1-2 - Red
    3-4 - Green
It hangs here, and doesn't boot. According to the manual, I think it fails at initialising hard drive controller. Any help?
    AMD MP 1800+ (2)
    512MB RAM
    64MB GeForce MX 440
I have another MSI K7D board (without LAN/USB, green motherboard) which boots with all the same hardware!
    Please help!

    Hi
Be sure to disable the on-board USB.
    Try another VGA adapter

  • MSI K7D MAster and ram?

I have a MSI K7D Master motherboard, with dual athlon mp2200+, i had 2 sticks of unbuffered 256mb PC2100 ddr in the 1st two slots all thsi while, and last week i got 4 sticks of 256mb PC2100 DDR ECC-Registered ram, and when i put all four in, and boot up, i get a beep sound and the system wotnt boot. when i remove the sticks from slot 3 and 4, and boot up it works. anyone know the problem here? All the sticks work, i have put every single one in slots 1 and 2 to test. and help would be appreciated.
    thanks

    i se 2 things.
    1.
psu 18a 12v is weak for 2 cpu's if it runs them from 12v line.
if it does i do not know.
    2.
    pc2100 memory.
i bet those cpu uses 166fsb so yuo cant run fsb / dram ratio 1:1.
can cause instability on atleast k7n2.
try to get some pc2700 memory to test with.
some stores will give you a refund if the memlry dont wornk so check first.

  • K7n2 L - pci to pci bridge problem (unsolveable ressource-conflict)

    hallo.
if i enable graphics-adapter(agp - hercules 4500), no pci-devices are shown. it's a e/a conflict between the "pci to pci bridge" and the "nvidianforce2 agp host to pci bridge".
i tried to fix it by convert the acpi-pc into a standard-pc and as this doesnt work i installed win2k with the f5-key   --> choosing standard-pc.
nothing work! i still can't solve the conflict.
the ressources are still not adjustable in device-manager.
when i disable the "pci to pci bridge" a window pop up and tell me that new hardware (graphics-adapter) is found.
thnx for any sugestions in advance!
    mike
ps: i tried moving the pci-cards and upgraded bios to 5.1

i like to thank u all, ppl. i phoned the support and they told me that they dont know anything about incompatibilities and i should check the "Compatibility Test Report" (thnx moot). did that and found no hercules-board in it! damn, what can i do.. i changed the mb against a A7N8X deluxe. guess what.. the new board doesnt even boot with the hercules-card attached. put in my old g-force2 and the mainboard works. now i put the hercules in my 2nd pc and bought a asus g-force 4 - 8x - board and all works fine. i'm pleased because i now have the mcp-T sound onboard i wanted first.
    last thing to say:
    the msi-telephon-support in germany sucks!
    thnx again and best regards
    mike

  • Which Dual AMD FirePro option for Photoshop CC?

I was wondering which of the Dual AMD FirePro option for the new Mac Pro is best for Photoshop CC. I mainly do retouching (so no video editing nor 3D rendering in Photoshop). Basically Adobe is adding GPU-accelerated features with every release. The most important ones are the following: Liquify, Warp and Puppet Warp, Field Blur, Iris Blur, Tilt-Shift and Adaptive Wide Angle Filter
Regarding the Dual AMD FirePro options for the new Mac Pro does it make sense to upgrade the standard D300 to the D500 (or even the D700)? I guess for 3D animations, Premiere Pro or Mari (3D paint tool) it would definitely make sense but for PS CC I can't imagine a real performance gain as the D300 is already very powerful with a dual GPU and 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM each.
Any thoughts on to what extent Photoshop would benefit from upgrading the D300 to the D500?

Check out MacRumors where they are speculating madly :-)
Already been seen that more than 2GB helps and why folks are using 2.5 to 4GB cards already.
All depends on getting good compiles generating OpenCL and learning to leverage it.
I think MPG site would be perfect from  both computer insight and from a heavy CS/CC user like Lloyd.
The 6-core gives the best in MHz and turbo boost for you.
I thought macperformanceguide said it all. You read it??
    GPUs:
Based on past testing, I felt there was no value in paying for the D700 GPUs with 6GB memory each. If the dual D500 GPUs don’t provide a massive speedup over the prior Mac Pro 5870 video card, then something is seriously wrong. Or they are just not used, which is usually the case. And they are OpenCL, which is not necessarily supported by much software.
But the 6-core includes the D500 GPUs as standard (over the 4 core), and so there they are. One way to save money is to start with the 4-core CPU, upgrade it to the 6-core, and this then saves about $400 on the GPUs by sticking to the D300 models.
But at 4:00 AM I forgot about this, and besides, the fractional cost when all other costs are considered drops well below 10% of the system price. And there is no way to know for sure if the GPUs have any benefit short of testing identical configs on specific tasks. None of the GPU options are slow.
