Msi k7n2 delta2-FSR and problems with memories(ddr 400);help me!!!

hello!!!!.
I am very frustrated because is imposible that memories work fine to 200*2.I´ve tried twinmos and now ocz premier ddr-400.When i used memtest i have a lot of errors and frozen in windows.
If i choose vdim 3.30 memtest no errors but this is a voltage very high.I don´t now what can I do.
Is a bug of this motherboard?
In other forum tell me that this motherboard don´t work good with memory to 400 but the motherboard has dual channel.
i need help.
thanks!
pos data=sorry for my english

how can you have a stable OC if you have memory errors?
i don´t Know but prime no errors.
Quote from: Stu on 26-March-06, 01:48:25
forget about the OC for now, and get it working properly at stock speeds, then you can worry about getting an OC right
I have tell than 166 cpu(default values in bios),there are a lot of errors(more of one hundred and froozen in windows) in memtest.

It looks a bit like it would need the 4 holes around the socket, which not many new MSI cards have, but I'm not sure. What makes me thinks it nees the 4 holes is, that it should be able to fit many different processors.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR & Dual Memory Problems

Just recently I decided to upgrade my girlfriend's computer for her.  Upgrade new PROC, MOBO, MEM.  The proc is a AMD Athlon BARTON 3000+ OEM, Mobo is the MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR  and MEM is from PQI both are dual channel and in same package (identical) 512MB x 2. I thought it was an easy set up and everything and everything in terms of hook-ups was...  I loaded XP and it gave me a crap load of errors, but I manage to load all of XP.  Then came installing Adobe softwares, it kept saying "installing...." in an infinte loop and then froze on me.  I skipped installing Adobe software and decided to install World of Warcraft Game.  When I loaded the game, it popped up with errors installing, but it managed to install.  WHen time to play the game; however, it kept crashing, restarting, and freezing.  I noticed the system was a little bit laggy even though there was 1 gig of ram.  So as a Geek Squad tech I am, I started to tweak and mess with it.  I figure it was the MEMORY and I tried it and thought it was bad memory...
Yes it was memory when I tested with MEMTEST86 for dual channel ram, It came up with RED ERRORS all across the screen.  So I decided to test each stick individually and each stick PASSED!  I even tried each of the different slots on the motherboard and it all passed as SINGLE individual rams.  I figure the first test with dual ram was just some mistake, loose RAM or something, so i decided to pop the DUALs right back in, in different combination and I kept seeing Red errors all over as well.
So my conclusion is :: Motherboard is bad.  I contacted NEWEGG, but they will not refund my money as it has been over 30 days.  I wish I would've known earlier... Anyways, So im stuck with exchanging for same mobo or find answers, but I think doing exchange will not do any good if this is a known problem.

Quote from: DaveR on 28-October-05, 01:38:08
Just to confirm; they are fine together in single channel, slot 1 and slot 2?  Dual channel is purple + green slot, i.e slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 3.  Or are you saying they can't work together in any combination of slots?
    there will be a label on side of your psu stating max amps to +3.3V, +5v and +12v rails, i.e +3.3v = ?A, +5v = ?A, +12v = ?A.  For example my psu is: Antec TrueBlue480: 30A/3.3V, 38A/5V, 28A/12V
Maybe your psu is not up to the job
You did load the chipset and graphics drivers didn't you?
You are correct sir... any combination of slots 1&3 or 2&3 will give error.... each as individuals 1,2,or3 will pass. The PSU amps readout are as follow:
    +5v 40a Red, +12V1 16A yellow, +3.3v 35A orange, +12v2 18a yellow/black, -5v 0.5a white, -12v 0.5a blue, +5vsb 2.5a purple, pg gray.
I have loaded the chipset drivers from the CD it came with, and the graphics drivers are from ATI.com latest version.  I will try and update the Nforce driver from Nvidia's site, but I don't see the chipset as the cause of this problem.
EDIT: In any combination of slots used, the read outof of MEMtest is single channel.  Only slots 2&3 will have a read out of DUAL DDR channel 128bits.  Slots 2&3 Will still have errors though...

  • MSI K7N2 Delta2 FSR - memory issue

I've got MSI K7N2 Delta2 FSR and 512mb DDR400 Kingston Value Ram CL3. They work fine when I set them on a optimized settings and 166mhz. If I try any better timings then my pc wont be stable. I tried to set higher voltage, but nothing helps. I thought that I bought shitty memory, but when I set manually the same settins as optimized then my pc crushes. It isn't stable until I set optimized setting. Even if i set manually worse timings than optimized it will crush. I also tried with old TwinMos DDR266, witch was able to run with the best timings on my old MSI K7T266 Pro2(KT266A). I tried any other settings, but only optimized worked fine. So probably it is coused by motherboard, not memory. It has newest avalible bios and I installed newest nvidia drivers (also tried with old one, witch was on a cd bunled with mobo). Does anybody have a solution ??

I could get that RAM to work in Dual channel (even though their weren't matched pairs) at 2.5-4-4-8, synched with CPU FSB (1:1) at 200Mhz ... Like you said, pretty good bang for the buck. Although The Corsair I now have makes a difference (for 100$ more)...
    System  1: MSI K7N2 Delta2-ILSR, XP2500 Barton (@2200Mhz)(11*200), Corsair TWINX 1024C2 (@2-3-3-6), XFX TI4200-128M (@300-590), Seagate 120G SATA
Western Digital 200G SATA, Antec Sonata 380W TruePower.
    System 2: MSI K7N2 Delta2-LSR, XP2500 Barton (@2343Mhz)(11*213), Platinum 512M (@3-4-4-8),  Powercolor 9600 Pro 256M (@550,460) Western Digital 160G SATA, Antec Sonata 380W TruePower.

  • K7n2 delta2-fsr and 2600+ Barton o/c problem!

Hi my system consist's of :
    Athlon xp 2600+ Barton
    k7n2 delta2-fsr ( B3 bios)
2*256 Twin Mos cl 2.5 Dual channel
    GForce4 MX 440
    ASUS 300w (+3.3V-> 28A, +5V -> 30A, +12V -> 18A)
The problem is that i can't go stable above 178 FSB whatever the Vcore is!
The cpu temperature seems to be low enough ( 38 idle)
With my previous mb i had reached easy 192 with the same processor.
    The DOT is disabled!
    Any ideas?

    enable acpi.
    set dot to default
    set nvmm enabled
    set fsb:ram 1:1
    agp to 68mhz
    nv/ati speedup leave auto
    cpu interface set to normal
    give nesesery CPU Vcore...
set DIMM Vcore at minimum 2.70
leave memory timmings to optimised if you dont know what to set.
start from memtest86 to be sure its memory probs. make sure there is no errors at test number five.
start increase DIMM Vcore if errors is detected till 3.0V its safe mobo is dimm is undervolted after 2.9V isnt give actual core what is suppose to be. let we know how its going.
make sure 1st that you dont have any memory fabric malfuction. this can be done by testing one stick then test other stick with memtest86.
at all i think that your CPU want more Vcore to be stable when you change FSB to higher. set CPU Vcore to 1.85V to be sure.(standart cooler can handle it) or best way is to lower multipler and set FSB to 200FSB to test memory if toyr CPU is unlocked.
First of all i'have already tested my cpu and the rams with my previous mobo,so unless this mb has a problem i should go up to 192fsb without any problem!
Now i can't understand why should i raise the Vdimm since the ram runs at lower frequency than the deefault?
Anyway i'll try all you say above and let's hope that everythimg will go ok!
    Thanks

  • MSI K7N2 Delta2 Platinum + Boot problems.

    System Setup, so far:
    MSI K7N2 Delta2 Platinum
    Athlon XP 3000+ Barton, 333FSB
    Thermal Take Volcano7+ Fan
    PowerColor Radeon 9800Pro, 128MB
    GeiL 1x512MB, PC3200, DDR400
    Antec True Blue 480W
    Max: +5V=38A | -5V=0.5A | +12V=28A | -12V=1.0A | +3.3V=30A | +5V SB=2A
    Min: +5V=0A  | -5V=0A   | +12V=0.8A| -12V=0A   | +3.3V=0A  | +5V SB=0A
The problem is, that the screen is blank and there's no error beeps, when I fire up the system.
The D-bracket keeps giving me the 1-0-0-0 (Early Chipset Initialization)
    So far I have tried:
Reseat the CPU, didnt help. (This is the 2nd (or 3rd) CPU on this board)
Tried diffence slot, for the memory.
    Tried another memory type.
    Tried another GFX.
In every case, the D-bracket gives me the 1-0-0-0.
Just tried to fire up the system, without the CPU/MEMORY/GFX, and still I get the 1-0-0-0 (Early Chipset Initialization)
    Is the mainboard dead then?
Does anybody know of a solution, to this problem? Or any ideers at all?
    Thanks

    Hi there ...
I have more or less the same problem here

Looks like some bhow this crap disk has blown something on my board   ,
    I think I have tried everything  .
Anything I should try before binning it .
    Yes the cpu is ok
    Memory is ok
    Thanks lads

  • [nForce] has somebody MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR + barton mobile

I wanted to know if there is a possibility of changing cpu ratio because msi kt4av did't see this cpu as mobile. on epox 8rda3+,8rda3+pro, and abit everything is ok. Has there somebody such mainboard with this cpu? Does mainboard seethis cpu correctly? And does somebody know if how to change the cpu ratio in barton mobile's bios.i wanna buy  MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR

    Frequency/Voltage Control in BIOS
    "CPU FSB Clock"
    "CPU Ratio" (multiplier)
    that is from KT4AV manual
mobile CPUs aren't properly identified on most boards, but that is merely a "cosmetic touch"

  • MSI GF 6600 AGP AND problem with clocks

    Hello,
I've got a big problem with saving clocks in my graphic card. Neither RivaTuner nor coolbits don't work - after rebooting computer the clocks are reseted and forced to default values.
    I'm using fw 71.89 (previously 71.84).

    Winter,
Run Driver Cleaner and get rid of all the old Drivers. Then install the latest nVidia ForceWare Drivers. From there try to set the clock speeds you want. (Make sure you set it to apply at startup.)
Remember that there are two speeds, one for 2D and another for 3D.
    Take Care,

  • [nForce] K7N2 Delta2-FSR and AX-7 Heatsink

Hi, does this heatsink fit on this MB?  It looks like the chipset HS & fan are too close.  Anyone have this combination?  Also is this a good socket a board, there seem to be people with alot of problems?  Thanks

Dr Stu, I have'nt bought the board yet, I just want to upgrade my kt3 ultra2 in my sig, want to get dual channel memory, 8X AGP and sata to get the most speed out of my XP2700.  I have already bought another 512mb of Crucial Ballistix for the dual channel.  I'm looking for a good socket A board before they go away!  I know I'm pushiing my PS with only 18amps on the 12v side, but it has the xtra 4 pin connector and it's a good quality.  The link Fredrik so kindly provided is what it looks like.  It has been a decent sink for me.  It is 80 X 80 mm @ the aluminum fins.  Actually I had to lap mine to get a shiney surface, it had machine marks on it.  Thanks
P.S. The K7N2 looks like it's feature pack, just wondered if it's a good stable board

  • [MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR] south bridge burns - is it normal??

[I'm from Poland - sorry for my english]
As in subject. Is it normal when I apply my finger to south bridge (MPC2) It burns my finger (I can sustain only 10 seconds). Maybe something is wrong with my Mobo (is it summary from motherboard?)?

off topic: trash - no need to keep starting your posts "i'm from poland - sorry for my english", you speak better english than some on this forum for whom english is their native language.
does your system work fine? if so, then please stop touching your southbridge to reduce risk of injuring yourself (and the mobo!). if all is well, then you have nothing to worry about, these ICs can sometimes get warm, but they are cooled enough by air circulation in your case.

  • Consistently losing memory and problems with backups?! Help!!

Hi all. My iPhone 5 (32gb, thankfully) started to randomly lose a lot of its memory, every other week i would maybe see some of this also randomly return until it got worse. It used to go, return with desperate attempts (restarts and memory the filling method) and would just disappear within a minute. I deleted small things to make space and they'd go within a week or so too! Then it got REAL bad, i would delete things and the memory would disappear within seconds, which scared me a lot (maybe the flash memory's lost it and can't read/write so good any more?) so i deleted a 1.9GB game which bought me some time as the memory was only slowly being taken away this time, but it was shocking to see all of that go too, slowly (1.8, 1.7, 1.6 and so forth). I googled desperately and found a 'solution' for this and it WORKED! (Renamed a few files.) I managed to stop the memory being consumed and i was left with just under 1GB - but I've lost about 3GB or more in total (and maybe more that I've not kept count of).
Problem now is that i can't get any of that back and i cannot buy the new iPhone 6 unless i have a way of shifting all my data to the new device. If i simply 'restore from backup' on the new iPhone, this deficit in memory would possibly carry over (i think).
Another issue with backups is that they also carry other little bugs over from previous devices. For example, my old iPhone 4 randomly started showing 2 dark purple-near black artifacts/specs on every photo and video and i thought it was the camera itself. When i got the iPhone 5 2 years ago and carried over the 4's backup, the iPhone 5's camera had these same specs in the same places!
Because of these weird issues I'm laying off buying a new iPhone until i either find a way to migrate my data to the new device OR i can find a way to reclaim my lost memory at the least even if that means keeping the weird camera problem!
Has anyone had any of these issues or combination of issues? Is there a way to fix all this? Is there a way to transfer all my data without having iTunes carry over the bugs?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Zephryl,
I was actually able to get an initial response from Sun on this a few months ago. However, the Sun Swing team has not followed up on a resolution for this pervasive problem, even though they noticed the same problem when running a test applet I had created for them. Apparently, I.E. is not releasing memory from the heap.
Below is a quote from a Sun rep. on this in an e-mail sent to me on Dec 4, 2002:
"I suspected the leak is in the native code because the # of handles and GDI objects keep increasing but no obvious Java objects are left behind in the Java heap during page switch."
So, until Sun and/or Microsoft work out a solution to this, anyone who uses I.E. 6 and applets for their UI seems to be in a lot of trouble.
As a note, trying to invoke the Garbage Collector does not do anything, but generally a very small amount of memory will be released (like maybe 5-10% of the memory allocated for the applet).
    Cheers!

  • Help with MSI K7n2 Delta2 Platinum

    Hi everyone,
I need some help with my system, actually I'm having troubles with my machine, often it restarts or freezes so I have to restart it manually.I own a MSI K7n2 Delta2 Platinum, AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 1 GB DDR-400 CORSAIR, ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB AGP. Recently I did a clean install of Windows XP but usually I work for an hour and suddenly it restarts, and after logging in, Windows reports a log event problem; I think I have this problem because of the drivers, so I would like you to help me. Where I can get the best/last drivers for the mainboard and video card? Should I flash the bios? Is common this kind of problems? Help me please.
    Thanks!

  • Replace K7N2-L with MSI K7N2 Delta FSR Socket A nforce2

Hi I think my Mainboard has fried , if this seems to be the case I will have to replace soon , I was wondering if I replaced my Existing K7N2-L Nforce 2 board for the MSI K7N2 Delta FSR Socket A nforce2 , will my Operating system realize that ive change boards , Its just i recall going from one Board to another in the past and I ended up having to reformatt my Machine as i was getting all sorts of problems ..
i have recently Formatted and I dont want to do it agian , I have a spare board but its a SIS chipset , and wont support my CPU or My Kids CPU .. Any help would be great Cheers Kurvz

You will need to do a repair install of Windows, and you will need to reinstall the mobo drivers. Formatting isn't necessary, and was probably not the last time either. A repair install will not damage any of your important files, and you will not need to reinstall other programs (perhaps a few monitoring programs), but the updates you made to Windows will be gone.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta2 Platinum (No monitor output)

    Hi,
I recently purchased the MSI K7N2 Delta2 Platinum along with a AMD XP 3200, 512mb DDR Memory, ATI Radeon 9250 256mb and a Maxtor 80Gb Hard disk.
I followed the included instruction manual closely and feel that everything was installed correctly. However, when I went to boot the computer, there was no output on my monitor.
The LED on the monitor was green for a few seconds, it then went orange.  The screen itself was black, there was no BIOS screen.
I have tried 2 monitors, which eliminates them as the problem, I have also tried 2 graphics cards, which also eliminates them.
The other components seem to be running fine.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
