MSI K7N2G-ILSR Problem! Need help!

Hi,i bought a K7N2G-ILSR last year when i was in Germany. This mainboard never worked as well... I wanted to work with Athlon XP 2500+ and Dual Channel 256MB+256MB=512MB 400 Mhz DDR-Ram. It hasn't worked when i first wanted to use and i changed the jumper to the securit mode than it worked but it has never opened with one button pushing.I was always trying to get screen vision with 3-5 closing and opening.One day i tried to get the jumper back and i tried to open but it never worked. I got the jumper securit again but again never worked. I tried everything but it never worked after that event. Normally i had to inform it at first and give it back or give it to the repairing but i couldn't have time. Now i have to do it this time. Now i want to change this or something else but in Turkey. I am living in Turkey and does MSI Support Centre change it or repair it? What can i do to get rid of this problem. Need help!
Thanks for your helps from now!

  • MSI K7N2G-L issues, need help!

    Ok I am going to skip right to the chase.  My hardware is found in my sig.  PSU, Ram, etc is all fine, and above required specs, and that isnt an issue.  The issue is the board itself.  Got a replacement MSI K7N2G-L for one that die prematurely.  Got it saturday in the mail, and popped a 800mhz duron in, and ran it at 133mhz fsb.  It ran perfectly fine.  got the replacement xp 2000+ today, popped it in, no go at 133mhz.  Its unstable...tested proc in server, server ran fine, tested server proc (same kind of amd, same speed), no go in here.  Seems that at 133mhz as a fsb, the system is unstable to the max.  I can get to the windows login, and it freezes.  Kind of have it running at 130mhz fsb, but right now its not liking that again.  Temperatures also seem way too high, even though i used the same heatskink and 7k rpm fan as before.  I even have a nice layer of artic silver 2 going as before.  So, im wondering, why is this happening?  Whats with the board?  I got a lemon again didnt it.  I even played with the one green jumper that sets the fsb settings since I saw a post before that that helped.  Ok, maybe it was a coincidence that it worked for a short while, back to its old tricks though.  I emailed the vendor about it, but I really cant have a machine that doesnt work, and I can get it at 100mhz fsb, but thats just not right.  I poured way too much money into my system, and I expect it to work.
    any suggestions with this board?  If i get one more dud I need to get another brand or something.

    Ok a little update.  1630MHz Is what I got it running at right now, 130mhz fsb.  I fiddled with everything I could think of, and well this is as stable as its getting .  I think I need to RMA the board yet again.  What do you guys think?
    Temps on the cpu are running at about 111 F.  The northbridge chipset is like at 90degrees most of the time.  Seems hot to the touch (it has a msi labeled heatsink on it ).  Unfortunatley I dont have a heatsink/fan for the bridge, and at this point wont plunk $$ down on one till I get a replacement mobo I think.  I flashed the bio's from 3.6 on up to the current 3.9 and I dont believe i saw any difference.  It would almost seem like the temps are the true culprit, because once in a while I can get things going at 133mhz for the fsb but when I do somthing like play ut2k4 demo, it just freezes.  Dunno what else to say.
    Comments please?

    Hi BG-USER,
                Since your not looking for help I guess you are posting on here to complain to MSI. None of the people in this Forum are MSI employees so they won't get your message. Complaints are made by contacting MSI directly. You can call them or e-mail them.

  • Need help with MSI K7N2G-ILSR

    This is probably a really easy problem to fix, but my internet time is limited since my old system is in pieces, and I have to do this from work.
    My new MSI K7N2G-ILSR, running with a Barton XP2800 and 2 DIMMs of Geil 512MB DDR PC3200 , doesn't seem to be happy with things. When I tried to turn things on, I got no video output, and there was a regular series of beeps.
    I believed this is just a memory issue, and I intended to look into it when I get home...however, it seems things are a little more complicated than I may have thought.
    After failing to get any results with the pc3200 512 dimms, I switched to my old 2700 256 meg DIMMS, which I knew worked fine. To my surprise, the system then worked...almost. It got to a certain point, and then gave the message "no drive is connected to fastrack", or something to that effect, and then froze.
    The system also worked with combinations of my old 256meg and one of the new 512s, but not with both 512s at once. The 256s, in combination, powered up every time; however, they didn't allow me to install anything. The combination of 2 256s and 1 512 worked most of the time, but would occasionally fail to detect the the RAM - resulting in the same steady beeping as earlier.
    For the sake of curiousity, I removed the IDE cable from the DVD drive. To my surprise, Windows (the drive was not formatted) tried to load...which would not happen when the DVD was connected. I then reconected the DVD, and removed the IDE connection from the hard drive. XP tried to install, and then crashed...in fact, the whole system powered down. And now will not restart again. It's dead, and I can't seem to get a single response from it.
    This made me wonder if the problem lies with my PSU. Does this sound like something which would happen if the PSU was playing up? I have a 450 watt unit, which I thought would be ok. But the only thing I can think is that the PSU doesn't have enough power to deal with the demands of my new system. I imagine the 3200 DIMMs require a lot more power than the 2700, which might explain why the system can't power up using two of them - the PSU can't handle it.
    Any ideas at all? I'm getting more than a little frustrated now. Any advice gratefully received...

    Remove all devices from your setup except the CD-ROM (or DVD device) and the hard drive, and connect each to the end connector on different IDE cable, making sure each device is set to "cable select" (preferred) or "master" (2nd choice). Plug the CD-ROM (or DVD device) into IDE2; Plug the hard drive cable into IDE1. For now, don't plug anything into IDE3.
    Your power supply is probably adequate, but beware. While many PS'es are "high wattage," many don't deliver enough power to the critical 3.3V bus. Check to make sure that your PS is rated for AT LEAST 28 Amps for the 3.3VDC supply. If not, get a new ANTEC TRUE PS that is. Don't skimp on power; it's like you skimping on food, then running a marathon.
    Only install (1) 256MB module in one of the two slots that are together. I recommend the slot closest to the CPU.
    If you are running a video card, remove it and use the IGP for now.
    Now, power up, and when you get the logo screen, go into your BIOS by pressing the delete key. If your screen is blank and just sits there, then power off, unplug the computer, and set the "clear CMOS jumper." Wait 30 seconds, replace jumper, plug in power cord, and restart computer.
    When you get to BIOS, make certain that it sees both drives in the first BIOS screen. Set your time and day (if you like) and then go to the second screen and set your CD-ROM/DVD as the first boot device, set the HD0 as the second (it should already be that way), hit and save and exit, but don't set anything else. Your computer should now boot from the CD-ROM and try to install Windows (I assume XP.) When it asks for you to press F6 to load RAID drivers, don't.
    Choose to format your drive using NTFS, don't choose the quick format.

  • MSI K7N2G-ILSR onboard video initialization problems

    Hi, today I replaced my wife's trusty Abit KT7 motherboard with a MSI K7N2G-ILSR.  I used the onboard video since she doesn't play games.  Everything seemed to be working fine until I went to boot it up. The computer started up as usual, but the monitor did not intialize like it should.  The message on the monitor said that " the monitor was working correctly and to check the cord or the computer."  I rechecked all of the connections and everything seemed to be installed correctly.  I thought that maybe there was something wrong with the onboard video, so I decided to install the Radeon 9000 that was in the old system.  To my suprise I received the same message when I started the computer up the second time.  I have built several systems and have never encountered a problem like this before.  I read the thread about problems with the Radeon cards, but no one mentions anything about problems with the onboard video.   I am using a Duron 750, Antec 330 watt PSU and 512 megs of Kingston Value Ram.  I know that several posters have recommended that nforce 2 users need a more pwerful PSU and better ram, but I have a hard time beleiving that those things would cause the video not to intilaize.  I would appreciate any feedback and/or suggestions because I need to make a desision about hwat to do with this board.  Thx.

    Well I appreciate the replys.  I formated the harddrive before I installed the motherboard because I was worried that the via drivers would cause problems when I booted it up and installed Win XP.  Bonz, you are right, I am just guessing that everything is OK since I can hear the system start up, but I can't see anything since the video never intializes.  I rechecked all of the connections and even took the motherboard out and reinstalled the cpu, memory and motherboard and the same thing happened.  I started thinking something was wrong with the monitor so I unplugged the monitor from my system, which I know works, and it did the same thing.  I just wish I could get the video to intialize so I could see to get into the bios to look around.  I will check the jumpers on the board and continue to mess around with it.  I would appreciate any feedback I can get.  Thx again.

  • MSI K7N2G-ILSR chipset fan stopped working. Help please.

    I have an MSI K7N2G-ILSR motherboard. A couple days ago I started hearing a fluttering/groaning noise coming from inside the machine. I finally discovered it was coming from the small fan on the chipset.
    Well, today I decided to try and take the fan off and fix it. After I blew some dust off of it, I put it back on the chipset heatsink and it failed to work at all. It's now broken.
    Here are some questions I have.
    1. Are these fans easy to replace? Where can I get one? Any brand suggestions?
    2. I'm currently running my computer without this fan (but the heatsink is still affixed to the chipset). Is this bad? Will it kill my computer?
    3. If it won't "kill" my computer what are the downsides to having no fan on the chipset?
    4. My temperatures are now 10 degrees lower than when the fan was actually working. Have any idea why the temperatures are lower?

    i also used the vantec one (copper like Flatblader) i got it at fry's for $10, it seems to be quieter and i used the smaller extra heatsink on the southbridge (just because it fits, i don't think it really gets all that hot) and i haven't found anywhere to put the other extra heatsink (bigger than the southbridge)
    as for the hsf assembly, it comes off pretty easy, but you have to take the mobo out of the case (there are two little pegs you have to squeeze and push out from the bottom of the board) the heatsink is kinda sharp, i cut my finger pretty good trying to get it off
    other than that, $10 for a copper hsf plus two extra heatsinks isn't bad in my book, and it looks kinda nice

  • MSI K7N2G-ILSR will not boot from CD!!!

    Specs:
    MSI K7N2G-ILSR
    40 GB Maxtor HD (IDE1 Master)
    HP 9100i CDRW (IDE2 Master)
    AMD XP 1800+
    512 Megs PC2100 DDR
    I cannot get this thing to boot from a CD for the life of me.  I have tried using 4 different CD drives.  I have tried both IDE channels.  I have ran both drives jumperless.
    Bios recognises the drive.  I have Floppy, CDROM, HDD1 as the boot sequence.  I have tried switching the boot sequence around.
    I am completely stumped and extremely frustrated.  Somebody, please help me.  ANY advice would be appreciated, let's get this problem solved!

    thanks for pointing that out!
    the jumpers were in the wrong place.  i should have read the manual more in depth instead of being in a hurry.  i feel like such an idiot!

  • MSI K7N2G-ILSR missing d-bracket

    I bought a  MSI K7N2G-ILSR Skt A  board from ebuyer in the UK.  :]
    On opening the box, I noted that the D-Bracket2 was missing from the box (but listed on the contents list on the side).  :(
    I am having no luck getting the component from the company I bought it from, and I then find all the MSI email and phone numbers are for distributors only !  ?(
    How do I get the missing part now, as I am missing 2 USB sockets I was counting on when purchasing this board.  ?(
    Brummieman

    I too bought my mobo from ebuyer and it was also missing the D- Bracket. After a number of e-notes I finally got this response from them:-
    The brackets never actually shipped out with this motherboard though they should have. We will be getting these brackets in shortly so i will have the brackets forwarded on ASAP.
    Regards

    I originally reported this to them on 10th Feb and finally got the reply on 19th Feb, however, I am still waiting for the D-Bracket..

  • Help needed - K7N2G-ILSR problem

    I just got a K7N2G-ILSR mobo and after I installed it, I get an error "NO DRIVE ATTACHED TO FASTTRACK CONTROLLER. NO BIOS INSTALLED"
    I downloaded the latest bios and flashed it but I still get the same error.
    When I am in the setup, it recognizes my harddrive (which is a Maxtor IDE).
    I'm not using serial ATA.
    Please help me figure this out.

    the problem is that after i get that error message, it takes me to the windows safe mode menu.  after i pick a windows mode to start up with, it re-boots only to bring me back to the original error message.
    i can't boot into windows.

  • K7N2G - ILSR problems ...

    Right, this is a long story!
    I got my K7N2G a few months ago now, started by using PC2100 (Generic, lol) ... it worked quite well - I can't remember getting crashes!
    I then upgraded to 2x256Mb PC3200 TwinMOS, not knowing about this whole picky RAM thing - I'd heard it was good RAM so I got me some ... after replacing one because of a bad stick I had both sticks running well, I then started getting lotsa freezing in games (esp. UT2003) and I thought it was just overheating but after doing some overall quietening (Zalman GPU, new CPU cooler), it was still crashing ... then the fan on my chipset died so I stuck a new 40mm fan ontop and seemed allright but was still getting the odd freeze in-game! Eventually was told that the 40mm fan wasn't actually needed so I removed it and things didn't get any worse ...
    Untill now, I get crashing in game very often and I have lost my USB ports)!
    Is any of this todo with my RAM, or chipset fan removal?
    Also this is an engineering release ... is it safe to update it with the latest K7N2G-ILSR BIOS?
    I had less problems with my ECS K7S5A, lol!
    Thanks for reading and hope you can help ... Alex

    Grrrrr!
    Sorry to hear that your dead in the water. :(  Since your going to buy a new PSU "DO NOT BUY A QTEC" Stick with an Antec or Enermax 400W+, you may pay a little extra but this is one of the most important  components of you system so it's worth it. It will help eliminate a lot of problems in the future.

  • MSI K8T Neo2 FIR, need help installing drivers

    Hi there,
    I need help with installing drivers. Here’s my setup:
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    Mainbord: MSI K8T Neo2 FIR (VIA K8T800Pro)
    OS:  Windows XP Professional, SP2 installed
    ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
    I updated per MSI Live Monitor, but when I run ‘dxdiag’, I says I have to update the ‘VIA standard host bridge’. I don’t know what this is or where it can be found. It could be I saved the updated drivers in the wrong file (F:\ Program Files\...) where F is my primary harddisk and the drivers should be saved in F:\Windows\ System 32.
    Also, my hardware setup tells me there are two videocards 'installed': a Radeon 9600  Pro and a radeon 9600 Pro (secundary). Do I need to de-install the secundary one?
    Here’s a piece of my most recent dxdiag:

    Help would be very much appriciated, thnx!

    The two vis.cards issue is normal, it sees the primary output (VGA) as a device and the TV-out a separate device.
    Go to device manager to see if there's any device on ur rig that doesn't have drivers.
    Did u install the 4-in1 drivers, get the latest version from the MSI support site.
    good luck.

  • MSI P67A-G43 (B3) - Need help identifying this postcode

    Need help identifying this postcode:
    CPU:i7-2600k
    Mobo:MSI P67A-G43 (B3)
    PSU: Corsair 750w
    GPU isn't the problem since I replaced it and still get this postcode. RAM isn't the problem since I've tried four different sticks one at a time in each slot and still get the postcode. Getting no live video from the GTX580 and no onboard video. I think either the mobo or the CPU is the problem, don't want to have to send both in for RMA so if anyone can help me identify the postcode that'd be great.

    Hey Ctrl
    Well I happen to have the same beep code on my motherboard (P67A-C43 B3), after trying different suggestions from the MSI forum users and MSI technical support I ended up RMA(ing) my motherboard.
    You can try resetting the CMOS, by flipping the battery and leaving it like that for 5 minutes and putting it back to its original side. I highly doubt it is your cpu. Like anybody in the forum might suggest, try different components which appears you already did. I doubt your corsair is faulty. CPU and motherboard are your best bet that are faulty, and i highly doubt that it is the CPU because for there to find another person (you) that had the same problem as me since last friday (RMA board yesterday, wednesday) I find it highly unlikely.

When ever i would stick it in it would sound distorted and i would have to move it around until i got it to a certain spot to hear it good again. If anyone else has this problem please tell me. One more thing i had returned my other micro zen in for hard dri've probems and this was my new one do u think if i have to return in (hopefully not) that they would accept it.

  • Still stuck with the same old producer consumer weight problem need help

    Hello All,
    This is the problem I am stuck with right now.
    I have two array lists one producer array list and one consumer array list denoted by a and b
    P1 P2 P3 P4 P5
    5 6 7 8 9
    C1 C2 C3 C4 C5
    2 3 4 5 6
    Now we find all those producer consumer pairs which satisfy the criteria Pi>=Ci
    We have the following sets
    (5,2)(6,2)(7,2),(8,2),(9,2)
    (5,3)(6,3)(7,3),(8,3),(9,3)
    (5,4)(6,4)(7,4),(8,4),(9,4)
    (5,5)(6,5)(7,5),(8,5),(9,5)
    (6,6)(7,6)(8,6),(9,6)
    Let us done each of them with Si
    so we have S1,S2,S3,S4,S5
    we assign a third parameter called weight to each element in Si which has satisfied the condition Pi>=Ci;
    so we we will have
    (5,2,ai),(6,2,bi),(7,2,ci)....etc for S1
    similarly for S2 and so on.
    We need to find in each set Si the the pair which has the smallest weight.
    if we have (5,2,3) and (6,2,4) then 5,2,3 should be chosen.We should make sure that there is only one pair in every set which is finally chosen on the basis of weight.
    Suppose we get a pair (5,2,3) in S1 and (5,2,3) in S2 we should see that (5,2,3) is not used to compare to compare with any other elements in the same set S2,
    Finally we should arrive at the best element pair in each set.They should be non repeating in other sets.
    Given a problem
    P0 P1 P2 P3 P4
    9 5 2 2 8
    6 5 4 5 3
    C0 C1 C2 C3 C4
    we have So as (P0,C0) and (P4,C0)
    assuming that the one with the smaller index has lesser weight PO is selected.In the program I have used random weights.from set S1 we select the pair PO,CO
    S1 =(P0,C1),(P1,C1) and (P4,C1)
    since P0 and P4 are already used in previous set we dont use them for checking in S1 so we have (P1,C1) as best.
    S2=(P0,C2),(P1,C2) and (P4,C2) so we dont use P0,C2 and P1 and C2 because PO and P1 are already used in S1.
    So we choose P4,C2
    in S3 and S4 ae have (P0,C3),(P1,C3),(P4,C3) so we dont choose anything
    and same in S4 also.
    So answer is
    (P0,C0),(P1,C1) and (P4,C2).
    My program is trying to assign weights and I am trying to print the weights along with the sets.It doesnt work fine.I need help to write this program to do this.
    Thanks.
    Regards.

    What I have tried till now.
    I have one more question could you help me with this.
    I have an array list of this form.
    package mypackage1;
    import java.util.*;
    public class DD
    private  int P;
    private  int C;
    private int weight;
    public void set_p(int P1)
    P=P1;
    public void set_c(int C1)
    C=C1;
    public void set_weight(int W1)
    weight=W1;
    public int get_p()
    return P;
    public int get_c()
    return C;
    public int get_x()
    return weight;
    public static void main(String args[])
    ArrayList a=new ArrayList();
    ArrayList min_weights_int=new ArrayList();
    ArrayList rows=new ArrayList();
    ArrayList temp=new ArrayList();
    Hashtable h=new Hashtable();
    String v;
    int o=0;
    DD[] d=new DD[5];
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++)
    d=new DD();
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++)
    d[i].set_p(((int)(StrictMath.random()*10 + 1)));
    d[i].set_c((int)(StrictMath.random()*10 + 1));
    d[i].set_weight(0);
    System.out.println("Producers");
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++)
    System.out.println(d[i].get_p());
    System.out.println("Consumers");
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++)
    System.out.println(d[i].get_c());
    System.out.println("Weights");
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++)
    System.out.println(d[i].get_x());
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++ )
    int bi =d[i].get_c();
    ArrayList row=new ArrayList();
    for(int j=0;j<4;j++)
    if( d[j].get_p() >=bi)
    d[j].set_weight((int)(StrictMath.random()*10 + 1));
    row.add("(" + bi + "," + d[j].get_p() + "," +d[j].get_x() + ")");
    else
    d[j].set_weight(0);
    row.add("null");
    rows.add(row);
    System.out.println(rows);
    int f=0;
    for(Iterator p=rows.iterator();p.hasNext();)
    temp=(ArrayList)p.next();
    String S="S" +f;
    h.put(S,temp);
    String tt=new String();
    for(int j=0;j<4;j++)
    if(temp.get(j).toString() !="null")
    // System.out.println("In if loop");
    //System.out.println(temp.get(j).toString());
    String l=temp.get(j).toString();
    System.out.println(l);
    //System.out.println("Comma matches" + l.lastIndexOf(","));
    //System.out.println(min_weights);
    f++;
    for(Enumeration e=h.keys();e.hasMoreElements();)
    //System.out.println("I am here");
    int ii=0;
    int smallest=0;
    String key=(String)e.nextElement();
    System.out.println("key=" + key);
    temp=(ArrayList)h.get(key);
    System.out.println("Array List" + temp);
    for( int j=0;j<4;j++)
    String l=(temp.get(j).toString());
    if(l!="null")
    System.out.println("l=" +l);
    [\code]

    In your example you selected the pair with the greatest
    distance from the first set, and the pair with the least
    distance from the second. I don't see how the distance
    function was used.
    Also it's not clear to me that there is always a solution,
    and, if there is, whether consistently choosing the
    furthest or the closest pairs will always work.
    The most obvious approach is to systematically try
    all possibilities until the answer is reached, or there
    are no possibilities left. This means backtracking whenever
    a point is reached where you cannot continue. In this case
    backtrack one step and try another possibility at this
    step. After all possible choices of the previous step,
    backtrack one more step and so on.
    This seems rather involved, and it probably is.
    Interestingly, if you know Prolog, it is ridiculously
    easy because Prolog does all the backtracking for you.
    In Java, you can implement the algorithm in much the same
    way as Prolog implementations do it--keep a list of all the
    choice points and work through them until success or there
    are none left.
    If you do know Prolog, you could generate lots of random
    problems and see if there is always a solution.
