MSI K7T Pro MS6330 board

Unable to determine what is the largest cpu it can support. have bios v2.9
Also does any one know were can i find out what changes where done with my v2.9

1.2GHz Athlon (12X100) is the highest cpu you can go with this board. Also bios v.2.9 is good. No need to flash, as higher biosies for faster cpus are for different models (K7T Turbo).
After my opinion, 2.9 is the best bios for this mobo. If you have low rpm cpu fan, then bios v.3.4 is for you.

hi , ive got a msi k7 t pro and sometimes when i am gaming then my pc shuts down , and while it is booting 4 dleds , then i have to wait sometime before i can boot again , or reset cmos , it is mostely when i play halflife for some time , or after 20 seconds of warcraft 3 ,

MSI K7T Pro 2-a

Alright, I have an MSI K7T Pro 2-a (not 266) and I need to see if anyone has had this problem before. The board started giving me this crazy error about the floppy drive so I ordered a new bios for it. Now it will post video fine, but 10 - 15 seconds after post it will just crash. I have tried a number of CPU's (duron 700, duron 1.1, tbird 600, tbird 1.0) and they all do the same thing. My next step is to get an RMA and just send the board in, but I figured Id see if the forum could help before I went through all the trouble.

Msi k7t pro and hdd crash

Hi.
I have a problem and i hope some of you can help me.
I have msi k7t pro and maxtor diamond max plus 8. disk crashed before few days after using it 3 months. Before that i had maxtor 540 series and he crached after 18 months of use.
Two disk had spin up and seek time problems. Whell at least siguardian "sad that".
Could this hdd crash be from nonquality disks or the could be caused from some other part of pc.
And now i have option to chance maxtor with seagate.
What do you thing about seagate disks.

K7T Pro (MS6330) Processor Upgrade

Just upgrading from a Duron 600 to Athlon 1200 T/Bird. Do i need to make any adjustments to the motherboard (K7T Pro MS6330) or BIOS for this to be accepted.

Thanks for that, cleared the CMOS as per the book. When i booted up it came up with a 'CMOS checksum error' and would boot no further. I went into setup and, using my very limited knowledge, changed a couple of settings. Non of these i considered to be part of the problem however when i came out of setup it booted ok. I have re-booted a couple of times and no problem.
The supposed Athlon 1200 T/Bird i have installed was obviously a purchased second-hand. It is only showing as 900 in System properties. Do i need to make other changes to the bios or have i been misled.

Msi k7t pro MS 6330 - best graphic card

As announce subject I am k7t pro ver1 owner. Nowadays the MB is provided with riva tnt2 model 64 - yeah it is old one. I would like to change the graphic card, up to the good one. So is there any graphic card you know may be recommend? Some VGA x4, having best technical parameters to the mainboard?

sure, I do not intend play newest games, anyway I wish to play hitmanII, or III and IGI-2 - some ! The MB I have is retired. Max CPU to the MB is 1.2G Athlon - and I fited out with it (1.2 Athlon). Power suply is powerful 350W of good make; also 448 sdr sdram is going to be. I just do not know if Geforce 4 will be suported by the MB. AGP port is 4x only.
Man, did I well anderstand you? You mean that if I plug in 8x graphic card the system wil be stable? Ex. MSI GForce 4 Titanium 4200 128DDR? And will work fine on the MB?
Anyway I wish to plug in as good as possible (or something about) graphic card... so are there any suggestion ?

MS-6330 K7T Pro Dead board - help??

My PC just seems to have died, and now all four motherboard Diag lights are RED when I apply power to the PC. Nothing is displayed on the monitor, it just simply won't boot at all!!
I've check the power supply & that seems to be working okay.
Looking at some of the other posts for this model of board, I see the voltage regulator could be a problem. I've checked my board and this is not hot when I leave the power on for a few minutes, so I don't think this is the problem.
Any suggestions on what to try would be appreciated?

No all was working fine before. I'd had a couple (2 or 3) of problems the day before where it just locked up, but it rebooted fine, until the final time! The machine has usually been on all day, most days over the last twelve months or so without any major problems.
I had already cleaned everything before posting. I'd also had the processor out, powered up without it in place (as I'd read this in one of the earlier posts as something to try), then refitted it (with the heatsink) and tried repowering, still without sucess, hence the post here.
Any further ideas/suggestions please??

KT7 Pro MS6330 V1.4(?) 750-1200 Mhz Athlon cpu upgrade worth it?

I’m not experienced at any modifications except adding RAM!
I have looked at the discussions in the “Retired Intel/AMD” forum and am beginning to have second thoughts about all this but just wanted a definitive answer from the experts please!
I have a K7T Pro MS6330 board with BIOS version 1.4, (is that reeeally old?) according to the bootup screen and a AMD Athlon 750Mhz processor. I haven’t yet looked at which board version I have…. The manual says an upgrade “to 900Mhz or above”.
Having checked the AMD & MSI’s sites I believe can upgrade the CPU to a Athlon 1.2Ghz providing the board has a v1.6 or later BIOS. So far so good. I’m not sure which bios update I should use. Can I use the latest version available i.e version 3.6 or only version 1.6 ?. Apart from a new fan/cooler will I need a different power supply? What else might I need to install?
If I shouldn’t tackle all this what would be the highest rated Athlon I could use with the current BIOS? If it’s say a 950 Mhz & fan (but no PSU change ) would it really be worth it for an extra 150Mhz? The system’s used for word processing, surfing, some gaming but not much else. I really wanted to upgrade before the motherboard’s too old.
I’m also concerned about the warning: “It is risky to update BIOS manually. We don't recommend the beginner-users to do so”
Any advice gratefully received!

3.5 was last actually relevant to your board bits in 3.6 will never effect you
follow directions and you will be fine
if using ntfs on drives get none fat 32 method

[VIA] K7t pro 2, problem installing xp.

Hey guys, great forum. I have a msi k7t pro 2 board with an amd 700mhz thunderbird processor. I'm currently running 512mb of pc100 ram,an off brand 32mb video card, and a soundblaster live sound card. My problem i'm having is when I try to install xp, after it says hit any key to boot from cd, the keyboard stops responding. After it loads the setup files and gets to the point of "to install xp hit enter", the keyboard lights go off and I get no response whatsoever.
I have tried taking my sound card out. I tried swapping ram out of a good running computer after it was tested with memtest86. I have tried 2 different ps2 keyboards to no aval. I also tried a usb keyboard, in doing so I enabled the support for the usb keyboard in my bios; still didnt work.
I'm close to giving up on this board. I have tried several other forums, but no one could help me with this issue. My bios version is version 1.9. I seen that version 3.1 had a fix for the xp install. I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but is it possible to flash my bios to a newer version?
If anyone at all with any knowledge of my problem could help me out, I would be GREATLY appreaciated.

K7T Pro 2-A damaging CPUs

I have the most strange problem ever.
My MSI K7T Pro 2-A is damaging the CPUs I install for some unknown reason. The mobo has been rock stable for more than a year and a half and I think it is of excellent quality. About 15 days ago the PC froze while downloading a file under Win XP Pro, and then I had to shutdown. When I turned it on again, it makes 1 beep like everything was normal but the video signal was lost. Later, after many tries with different hardware I discovered that my Athlon 1 Ghz was burned; the strange thing is that doesn't had any external signs of burning, the surface was perfect. It was installed with a very good cooler (TITAN TTC-MT1AB) so temperature problems where discarded. Then I bought a new Duron 1.1 Ghz and installed it without problems. The BIOS installed was version 3.41. I flashed succesfully the same day I installed the new CPU to the BIOS last version (3.5) and it ran succesfully for about a week. Today, same story, the Duron was gone this time. My friend told me that maybe there is a sort of incompatibility with the new BIOS, but I refuse to believe it. Apparently the PSU is fine and I see no signs of a damaged capacitor or something like that in the mobo. We have absolutely no clue of what may be causing this; My technician friend tried to boot a Duron 700 Mhz and posted OK, but the new Duron don't posted anymore, after installing it on an older KT7 Pro 2, so I guess is damaged too. Any suggestion will be apreciated, as we try to isolate this problem. I will see if we use a electronic tester. If the PSU is the culprit, I don't understand how it doesn't burned the motherboard already, and if it is the mobo, I don't understand how a processor is running very stable for a week and then dyes. Any advice? I don't want to burn another CPU. ;(

The motherboard isn't frieing CPU's, I'm pretty sure the old CPU is fine too....
RMA the board to MSI, as it happens on some boards and they need to be repaired.
Contact your dealer or your nearest MSI Quarters on what to do.
MSI warrants the board for 2 years, so that shouldn't be a problem.

here's the problem:
My computer freezes very frequently. (when running outlook Express, IE6, or any kind of software...)
2 things can happen then:
- a blue screen appears telling most of the time: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (but not every time) and physical memory is emptied. then I can reboot my computer with a reset.
- monitor screen suddenly become black but computer is still running and I can stop it only by switching off the power supply. nothing else works.
I noticed also that many programms crashed with no specific raison. (music player, internet explorer, etc)
What is weird is I have Win XP running with no problem during 6 months and one day all these things happened .
I have downloaded all the latest drivers, flashed the Bios, tried with different material. (tried different ram)
I brought the computer back to my vendor and they told that the PSU was dead so they changed it but I'm still having troubles ...

at least cool to see I'm not the only one to have this problem..
However I can't see anything wrong when watching on my mother board.
I checked temperature and it stays between 35°C & 39°C.
Cooler seems to have a normal speed.
But the fact is now my computer is crashing after 10-15 minutes.
BTW what about the latest MSI mobos? any problem detected?
and if I want to keep my AMD Duron processor which mobo should I choose?

Compatibility of Duron 1.2Ghz with K7T Pro 2-A

Hi, can anyone tell me if Duron 1.2Ghz can be used on my motherboard which is an MSI K7T Pro 2-A? My manual which comes with the mb gives contrasting information to the one supplied on the website. Will the cpu spoil if it is used on an uncompatible board?
