MSI K8N SLi Platinum nForce4 SLi , wrong bios?

I just received this board and in the bios there are options for the silicone image controller and the marvell onboard lan, however this board doesn't have either of them(despite the msi website showing the ports in the picture, as are several websites that sell it). Has it been flashed with an incorrect bios? possibly from the factory or has it been used returned and sent out again?
also having major issues installing windows, had a install working fine on asus sli board. stuck this in with 2 new maxtor 200Gb dm10+'s, tried to install with those in a raid 0 with 3rd and 4th ports having a dm10+ 300GB 16mb drive and a dm9+ 120gb drive. It pauses each time on the msi, and when i put the asus back in, at the 19mins left to go "installing start menu components" part of the win xp gui install section. No idea whats causing it. using drivers off floppy from drivers on the msi cd.

All the SLI boards have the same id, 7100, and must be near enough the same to support a common bios.

i found through a process of elimination that the conflict apears to be with windows audio service
i turn it off and all the problems just go away but i still get no sound (not much help there i am afraid)

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum cant upgrade to BIOS 1.4, Windows wont boot.

I have a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and I cant upgrade to BIOS 1.4. I have tried everything and cannot get Windows XP to boot with BIOS 1.4.
I have reset the BIOS, set defaults, cleared the battery etc but when I load BIOS 1.4 (from a 98SE an ME boot dish and even from the Live Update?
The only solution is to rebuild Windows after loading BIOS 1.4???

Well, I have that problem, too. I think the reason is a new RAID-BIOS-Version built in the BIOS-Update. I´ve tried the beta-versions V1.51 and V1.5X, too - but they won´t run anyway.
My WinXp hangs while booting (before the WINDOWS-XP-Logo appears, or while fading in...). I cannot reinstall Windows completely because, when I install the 2 raid-drivers, the installation routine hangs before the licensetext - when I don´t install the drivers i cannont install on the raid-drive (beacuase the installation routine shows 2 hdds).
I think, a new driver will solve this problem, but I don´t know where to find it....

Will I be able to fit a ThermalRight XP-120 to this board? It was too big for the NF3 boards.

Anyone found out anymore about MSI nforce4 mb's and XP-120 compatibility? I mean, the cards are just around the corner... BTW, does any MSI staff read these forums? Could they test for us?

I have some questions regarding this motherboard that i would like to buy.
I've red some times ago that nForce 4 chipset had a bug with the HyperTransport (or similar) so all the motherboards with this chipset were post-poned. Now the german MSI site has posted a press-release of the MSI Neo4 saying that mass-volumes distribution will be in mid december.
I would like to know if some Neo4 were distribuited before nVidia found the bug and (if so) if there's a method to identify the "good" from the "bugged" versions.
The second question is about the possible heatsink. I would like to install a Zalman CNPS-7700 AlCu (with 12x12 silent fan) but I dunno if the heatsink "dimensions" could create problems to some motherboard component.

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce4 - can a raid be set up after a HD has info on it

Ok so my computers PS died the other day, no biggie but in the process of getting it back up I pulled the battery and reset my Bios.
My questions is, I used to have a Raid 1 set up now it's being shown as two hard drives, both with info on them. Can I just go back into the BIOS and set up the raid and go back to work?
Oh and at start up I still get the error 'no keyboard' but if I plug a ps2 in it's fine, then ones windows is up I unplug it and the usb key/mouse work fine. Any ideas on how to fix.

New build: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum + maxtor 300gb = problem?

Got these 2 products included in a order:
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce4 Ultra (Socket 939)
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 300GB
While checking up on the MB on the MSI site, I noticed a version of the bios (1.2) that says 'support for 300gb maxtor drives'
That's the same HD one I have coming with my order >.<
If the MB I get hasn't got that version of the bios already installed will I have trouble installing the drive?!
I downloaded the bios and it says in the readme not to install it from a floppy disk, so I guess you need a system up and running to make that update in the 1st place. No Idea how to go about this, if the need arises.

Unfortunately I'll have to wait a while to see...I installed everything....but need some adapter for the 6pin connecter on the ATI card. The power supply came with some 8 pin one. So I need a 4 to 6 pin adapter. Doubt If I'll find one local, so will probably have to wait until monday now to try it out.

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum slows down

I have a little problem with my new K8N Neo2 Platinum. I installed Windows XP and the newest nForce drivers but if I copy files over LAN (tested both LAN-Ports) or install big applications my music played with winamp slows down. It's played with half speed. In addition to that my mouse pointer is very slow. After the setup or copying files everything is how it should be again. How can I solve this problem?

I copy files to my bro sometimes, 5Gb - all the steam GCF files for CS/HL/CSS/HL2.
My network usage is 80%-92%
My CPU usage is always under 15%.
It is worse when using 512Mb but as you have 1Gb it shouldn't be bad.
Check in the device manager, your cd drives should be set to DMA mode.

I planning to buy Seagate sataII 7200.9 250GB drive (model: ST3250824AS) very soon (finally they are in stock in my city), but first i want to know is there any incompatibility issues or other problems with such combination - MSI K8N SLI Platinum + seagate 7200.9 series hdd.
I don't have any experience with sata2 drives yet. Currently i'm using seagate 7200.7 120GB IDE hdd.
I don't plan use RAID or use that new 7200.9 drive in combination with current 7200.7 drive (will use current hdd in other pc).
Any tips/experience would be great.

Seagate SATA II 7200.9 250GB drive (model: ST3250824AS) has both 3 G/bps speed and NCQ (Native Command Queuing) most all MB’s with the nVidia Chipsets using the nForce4 chip will have problems. If they are not using RAID and you reduce the speed to 1.5 G/bps with a single drive you maybe able to get it to work. Personally, I know the MS-7125 and MS-7220 both will not run RAID with those to motherboards.
I have been battling with MSI and ASUS over this problem sense November and they have not come up with a fix. Problem involved BIOS and RAID Controller Driver for the chipset. Most MSI motherboards latest BIOS have fixed the BIOS half of the problem. There is an unreleased 32-bit driver for Windows, but nothing for Windows XP 64.

MSI k8N SLI Platinum - dead??

Hello,
I have started the PC as per usual. Pushed the power button... nothing. Then again... nothing. Then I swithed off from the switch near the mains entry. and switched on... PC started however I get nothing on the screen. No beeps.
I have an Antec Truecontrol 2.0 power supply, an MSI K8N SLI Platinum (socket 939) with AMD Athlon, 2 GB Corsair TWINX Ram, three HDDS SATA, Raptor 75GB as Primary (C:) and another two WDS. Video Card: BFG 7800GTX+ 256MB OC, PCI - Express.
System has functioned Ok for three and a half years at least. I have replaced the Northbridge Fan from the beginning with a Blue heatsink - I believe Zalman. No temp issues. No overclocking, I am not using any commander modes etc etc.
When I look at the D-Bracket I get Memory Init Error (RED-GReen-Red-Red). I am pretty sure it is not the RAM. I pulled the RAM, used only one stick... same error.
I pulled the video card out. Then interestingly the system reaches the phase just before booting and the D_Bracket shows Floppy Init error (Green-Red-Green-Green). I tried moving the video card to the second PCI -ex - I also reach the Floppy Error point. I put in a crappy PIC-Ex video card - I reach the same Floppy init point - the floppy actually seeks but does not try to read. Unfort I forgot where I put the Monitor adapter thingy so I can;t check if I get anything on the screen with the crappy PCI-Ex video card. Will get it... soon...
I have a hard time determining whether it is the Video card or the mainboard. I have pulled the battery out, left overnight, pushed the BIOS reset... nothing helped. With Video Card in PCI-Ex slot 1, I get the memory init error. With the card in PCI-Ex slot 2 or with no card or with crappy PCI-Ex, I get to the Floppy Init point.
Could it be that at that point I would be getting a VGA error that I cannot see on the screen ? Why then NO BEEPS? Does this Mobo model not beep, just uses the D-Bracket?
It is important - if it is the mobo I am done for, I have to buy Mobo, RAM, CPU... $1,000. If it is the Video card I may find something 1 slot wide and similar to the BFG ...
Can anyone help narrow this please ?
BTW on the screen I get NOTHING, if I pull out the cable the monitor says - check connection, if I plug it in the monitor goes to power saving.

Dear Friend don't get angry too quickly. I also have a socket 939 Athlon 3000+ Winchester. In start MSI K8N SLI Platinum was not allowing me to OC more than 220FSB in BIOS. Although in Windows I can OC it to 2.16 GHZ with NVidia NTune. It's 240FSB. You are facing the same problem that I was facing. Its 219MHZ Bug for Winchester CPUs.
All you need to do is when you are OC'ing more than 219 MHZ, just set you HT multiplier to 1x and you can go upto 260MHZ FSB via BIOS. When you get to the desktop of windows use any software to set the multiplier back to 4x or 5x (depends on how much you OC). Nvidia Ntune is a good software for this purpose. Plz keep in mind that Winchester cores are not too much overclocking friendly CPUs. They won't go beyond 2.4 GHZ and instability is bound to happen after 2.3 GHZ.

MSI K8N SLI Platinum & Apacer PC3200 or PC4000 memory (Apacer chips)

I have a situation here. My Athlon Venice 3000 is stable on 2520Mhz. So when i had Patriot PC3200 & Kingston PC3200 dual kit memory i set in bios 280x9 and a 166 memory divider or 315x8 and a 150 memory divider and got ~229Mhz on my RAM. And now Apacer dual kit modules don't want to work on this frequency in this conditions as i discribed earlier (computer isn't boot up and i have a black screen). But PC4000 modules are working on 280Mhz (280x9 and a 200 memory divider). Any suggestions? Is it incompatibility of my mobo and Apacer memory?
PS: Bios 3.9 or 3.A modded by Murdok.

My problem is that the pc will not boot after 235 FSB. I have tried with 2*512 pc2700 memory with same result. I have tried diferent memory timing but it wont help, i have add more voltage to the memory and cpu but it wont work either. Im open for any idea.
I hoped to at least overclock the cpu to 2,6 ghz watercoold

v5.0 Beta 4 allows to give 3.10V to the memory but i don´t think it´s going to help you, you probably have the CBBID issue.

I'v problem with choosing new mobo.
I'v MAXTOR DiamondMax 300Gb SATA hdd and i'm not sure
that both mobos will work with my hdd.
I know that MSI K8N SLI Platinum works with Serial ATA II interface and Diamond works with Serial ATA interface.
Does both mobos will works with my hdd or i must to choose: Platinum or Diamond ?

I'm thinking of buying a new pair of memory modules, particularly,

I continued with the overclocking to see the limitations of the memory and not only.
I managed to run the modules at 466MHz with 2-2-2-5-1T at 2.85v which was the upper limit.
Unfortunately bios limitations didn't me allow to reach 500MHz as the memory chips could give.
Max voltage at 2.85v.
The ultra x series are out in the market with two chips: Samsung TCCD and Winbond BH-5.
For that I searched and learned that the Windbond BH-5 can't work at CL 3, which I set at system bios.
The system couldn't boot. So I suppose I'm having the coolest BH-5.
It also needs over 3v in order to reach the 500MHz frequency and the necessity of an air cooler above rams.
Maybe in the future with a more overclockable m/b like Stick proposed.
