MSI K8T-NEO won't Detect Intelli microsoft mice

does any1 else have a microsoft intelli explorer mouse?
This boared will not detect mine yet all other pc's i have detect the mouse no what it is and it's fine.
I have installed the SP1 usb 1.1 drivers and messed with the legacy support in bios.
I'm nearly 100% sure this mouse (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004VUC3/026-2276493-0209240)
and the MSI neo K8T are incompatible.
Cheers to any1 who replies
John

I had been having problems with some MS Explorer mice and one PS2 mouse. 6702-010 mobo, XP sp1, V1.2 bios, 3200 Athlon 64, 1GB ram, see profile for more.
I was able to get an old Logitech oem PS2 mouse to work most of the time;
a wired MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 worked all of the time;
an MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer would not work for more than a few seconds before jerking to a halt;
an MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 would not work for more than a few seconds before jerking to a halt.
I loaded (and reloaded) all of the drivers from the original CD's. No help.
I read Bas's suggestions, and gwatemala's replys and efforts, and followed the suggestions. All 8 ports were enabled in bios. No legacy usb options were permitted. All usb ports worked with an APC UPS and a Sony 510U DVD.
All of this turned around when I unplugged all usb and ps2 devices (keyboard included) and then plugged in each of the three USB MS mice one at a time while watchng what Device Manager thought was connected. THEN I plugged the keyboard in, and it was not recognized (acted dead, but was visible in Device Manager list and had okay status).
I rebooted.
All three MS 'Intellimice' were recognized and worked fine simultaneously. Worked for Word, browsing, and Freelancer. Keyboard worked fine as well. PS2 mouse DOES NOT work, and does not show up in device manager.
I have disconnected wired usb Intellimouse and wireless usb Intellimouse 2.0. All usb ports seem to be high speed (Sony 510U doesn't complain at least, and it does normally complain if on a 1.x port).
Gwatemala, try running device manager, removing all ps2 and usb devices, and then plug in wireless mouse.
Bottom line; seems as if OS wasn't seeing the usb devices full time. Disconnecting and then reconnecting ps2 keyboard seemed to allow OS to find USB mice. Not a definitive solution probably, but maybe a workaround.

  • MSI K8T-NEO won't post from a cold boot

Alrighty here is my strange problem.  I have my system connected to a surge protector powerstip.  When I power my machine down I also shut off the powerstrip which cuts wall power off from the machine.  When I turn the power back on the and then fire up the computer every single time it will not POST on the first try.  The drive lights cd-roms come on but the HD's never start.  So I hold the power button in for 6 seconds, then hit it a second time, and it boots every time.  Shutting down and restarting is no problem, so long as the power is never disconnected from the system.
    Here is my configuration
MSI K8T NEO Bios version 1.2
    Athlon 64 3200+ not overclocked
    1 512meg stick of Geil Ultra PC3200 slot 1
    1 512meg stick of Coarsair XMS3200 slot 2
memory is running at 333mhz 2-3-3-7 all setting are set to auto
Radeon 9500 in the AGP slot
    Sound Blaster Audigy
    Promise 100 TX4 Raid controller
2 WD 80 gig SE HD's connected to promise controller
    1 Pioneer PD-115 16X DVD drive
    1 Liteon 411-s I believe 4x DVD Writer
    1 Zip Drive
    Using AMD boxed CPU fan
    Powered by an Antec true 430 +3.3V 28A +5V 36A +12V 20A
According to core center +3.3 is at 3.31V, +5V is at 5.03V, +12V is at 11.76V
So anyway its prime stable etc.  But when ever the system has been powered off, and unplugged the first time I power on it always fails to post with the d-link indicator lights indicating a CPU failure.  Hold down the power button and it reboots.  Power the machine off, but don't disconnect wall power powers back on just fine.
This is strange, since I use the surge protector to turn off speakers, etc!  Its also annoying, I used to have a MSI K7D-L Master 2xXP CPU's with the same hardware witht eh exception of the Geil RAM, and of course cpu, and mobo and never had any problems with a cold boot.  any suggestions?

Yeah I tried having only one stick of ram in the machine, and it hangs on a cold boot when its been unplugged/or powersupply switched off.  Reboot again and no problems.  I tried just having the geil installed, and the corsair stick installed same problem.  I have ordered a second Geil Ultra PC3200 stick so I'll have matched sticks and will be able to run at 400mhz FSB.  The lack of a manual memory speed setting overide in the bios is frustrating.  Yes I know the speed is more or less set by the CPU but there must be some override mechinism if you can slow it down....
I have also tried with just a video card installed, and one stick of ram to see if the problem would go away.  No GO.  One thing to mention is I had a Radeon 9700pro that I got from new egg refurbed that I had to send back becasue the card would not power on when the system was booted, unless you disconnected the power lead got the warning message, and then powered off and reconnected the power lead.  Possibly this card may have damaged something else?  OR the mobo was bad and damaged the card?  The mobo was new, the ram (geil), CPU, and 9700pro were all refurbs.  Everything else was from a previous dual processor system and was working fine.
Both of the Western digitals are set as masters and each are on their own seperate ide channels.  The Promise FastTrack100 TX4, has 4 IDE channels and the HD's are connect to channel 1 and channel 2 on the FastTrack controller.
Specifically what happens is if the power has been off, I turn the power on, hit the power button.  Lights come on, the cd-rom drives lights start blinking, fans come on, and I hear this kinda of poping sound out of the speakers like the kind of sound you get when you first power on the machine but it happens a second time about 2 seconds after powering on the machine, and it just sits in this kind of hung up state, hitting the reset button does nothing.  Then I power off power back on and it POSTS, and back to normal.  So long as the system is never disconnected from the power source while it is off, it will power back on the first time.  This is really strange I've never had a system do this before.  I'm beginning to wonder if I just have a bad/faulty board and ought to RMA it?

  • MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R won't power-up

My MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R won't power up when I switch it on. All that happens is the fans "jolt" a few millimeters and that's it
Using an X-Pro 460w which does work as I have tested it on this PC
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think I have found out the problem
Using my old Enermax (350) I was able to boot up the AMD 64 2800 every time but the PSU made this weird electrical sound - I think because it was being overloaded (I think as it doesn't make this sound when used with my XP 1800). I then reverted back to my new X-Pro (460w) and after a few attempts I managed to get the ram module and CPU powered... slowly adding more fans it became harder to boot and eventually the GPU fan wouldn't run once I plugged another fan in... I'm guessing this is because my PSU is too weak to power the juice guzzling AMD
I'll need to break the bank once again I suppose

  • [Athlon64] MSI K8T NEO-V : incompatibility with ATI RADEON 9800 PRO

    Hi,
I read all the subjets on this forum about Radeon problems with MSI K8T NEO motherboard.  Most of the peple can't use their graphic card in all situations.
    My PC is :
    -MSI K8T NEO-V
    -AMD-64 3200
    -Power : 400W
    -ATI RADEON 9800 PRO
-1 Go DDRAM (2x512 in single channel)
    -Hercules Digifires 7.1
    I bought a new MSI K8T NEO-V with AMD 64.
The problem is that I can't use the computer in the games with AGP 8X even if I try to enable-disable all the options possibles in BIOS and Windows (fast write ...) : The computer freeze (screen disapear as if there was no video signal), reboot or return to Windows disabling the accelerated mode.
But in AGP 4X, all the game run without problem with all setups of BIOS !!!
I tried all the drivers (the new and the old drivers).  Even if all are updated, it freeze.
There are no BIOS update for my motherboard. I saw that some people had BIOS update for compatibility with some Radeon cards ...
So, I don't know how to repair the problem because AGP 8X is AGP 8X and not 4X, and my Radeon run fine on other computer, and nothing say that Radeon 9800 pro don't run on this motherboard.
Does someone have the solution to make it work ? Does a new BIOS or driver update exist somewhere for Radeon cards ?

What Bas said about 30+ amps on the 12v rail does have merit. Even if you don't use it now there may come a time when you want to upgrade the system and certainly you won't want to buy yet another PSU then. A High end vid card now takes almost as much as the CPU to operate. Now days the 12v rail is the most important. Past systems regulated everything off the 5v railk and 12v was used mostly for powering drive motors. Now though the MB's use the 12v line to regulate all the voltages for the CPU, Chipset and other features as does the Vid cards. 3.3 volt lines are used for memory so we hardly use any 5v nowdays.
You have an older viod card and that does not eat much 12v but if you upgrade the most likely peice will be the vid card. You could go through this whole thing all over again if you are not careful to plan for that now with a new PSU purchase.
If the computer shop gives you a bunch of bull about power needs havbe them stop by the forum and we can help set them straight on this. There is more than enough data from MSI and historical data here that suggests that 16a on the 12v rail is certainly not enough. Hey I am not trying to sell you anything. I am just trying to help you get it right. The computer shop is the one trying to sell you something we just feel they are selling the wrong junk.

  • [Athlon64] TV tuner problems on MSI k8t neo

    Hello,
I used TV@nywhere Master. Since beginning it worked.
After graphic card reclamation (MSI GeForce 6800 LE) I tried another graphic cards (at first Legend 64 [1 MB, PCI], later Riva TNT 2 vanta [16 MB, AGP], GeForce 5600 VIVO [128 MB, AGP]). With this Legend graphic card at first my PC beeps for a while, but Windows XP started (even without graphic drivers). I tried another graphic cards (with correct graphic drivers), but since then there was no video on my TV tuner (channels were recognized, sound was possible to hear, but only black screen). I got new GeForce 6800 LE card, but the problem was the same also with this card.
I reinstalled windows XP several times, but always with the same behavior.
Maybe similar as it is mentioned here:
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=27537.msg158205#msg158205 (TV@nywhere Master sound but only black picture.)
I tested TV tuner at my friend's PC and it worked, so TV tuner is not broken.
So I bought new TV tuner card (Sapphire theatrix 550), but this card was not even detected under Windows device manager.
When I tried to install ATI drivers, I got BSOD and my PC was restarted.
(there was no problem at my friend's PC [athlon xp 2200, nforce 2 chipset])
Is it problem with PCI slots of my motherboard?
    My system:
    MSI k8t neo (k8t800 chipset)
    Athlon 64-3000+
    512 MB DDR
    MSI GeForce 6800 LE
    Windows XP SP2

    Just to note:
there was also problem with network (not detected).
    Reclamation was necessary.
There was no similar problem with returned motheboard.

  • MSI K8T Neo - Video switch off, sound glitches

    Hi
First post, and im hoping someone can PLEASE help me.
    Im currently using the following:
MSI K8T Neo FISR-2 Mobo (pretty sure thats it)
    64 AMD 3200+
    512 DDR @ 333
    2 IDE HDs
    GEXCUBE 9600XT etc etc
Now problem 1) I use my computer for work alot, i.e I use Microsoft word, and im typing away getting alot of work done when all of a sudden, blank screen, it acts like i havent touched anything and just powered down the monitor, but no matter what i do i cant get it back up and thus i have to reboot. (This occurs after around 15 odd minutes of work on word)
-Ive tried everything i can think of, updated whatever, even taken to computer places and they have no idea, rebooted CMOS, havent update BIOS cause im scared but if you got any ideas let me know
Problem 2) not as bad as the first but my sound, using onboard AC97 and Logitech Z640s i have this weird static shitty background scrathcy noise which is annoying, and i cant get it cleared up.
-Tried updating drivers etc, sounds not maxed out, even get the sound when i switch off the speakers and plug in my headphonse so...
If you can help on either of these things please either reply here or email me on [email protected]
    THANKYOU!!!

For ATI related monitor signal loss issues, check here:
    Rage3D forum direct link
I personally have a AIW9600Pro and haven't experience the aforementioned problems, so I don't know what to add, but I'm sure these folks at Rage3D forums can help.  It's already upto 15 pages, so there must be some useful info in there...
For statics, I find that by turning off Mic Gain (or sometimes called Mic Boost) from your Windows Volume control sometimes does the trick.  If you use extension cables, you might want to check for interference, too.
    Hope this helps,

  • 2800+ & MSI k8t Neo

    Hello !
    How much can i set VCore on AMD64 2800+    now it's 1.47V
I have Mobo MSI K8T Neo.
    Thx a lot , orig = 1.833GHz , i'm running 2.025 GHz @ 225x9.0
    GretZ !

you can undervolt it too.  I've got the same chip and board and I run fsb at 215 Mhz (1930 MHz cpu speed) and vcore at 1.4 (lowest). It's very stable.  I got a few errors when I ran it at 220 MHz, but that just because I had the voltage down.  You probably won't miss those 70Mhz of cpu and it makes a big difference in the temp, which means you can set your fan to be more quiet.

Running the CL @ 2.5 and the other timings are set to auto via the BIOS. Ran Microsoft memory diagnostic all last night and got over 120 passes successfully. Problems have occurred when playing fairly intensive video games, e.g. Blade & Sword. Sometimes it will just reboot out of nowhere and sometimes the game will immediately stop and I will see just the desktop. Nothing posts on the Event Viewer for Application or System logs. When the machine reboots it appears to display a memory dump and when you follow the post on the Microsoft site it ascertains that it is a driver issue, yet it is not specific enough to tell you which driver. I have updated all the drivers from MSI and ATI, and am running Cool & Quiet.
If you know what I might try to do in attempts to fix this please let me know.

hey thanks for your reply. yes i made sure everything was enabled and i just fixed my own problem. just for the heck on it i called msi tech support [talked to a real smart fella] and he told me that sometimes you need to jumper the drive when your using a single hard drive. i played with it a few minutes and it worked. its installing xp right now. i guess you learn something new everyday.

  • [Athlon64] MSI K8T Neo FIS2R BIOS Update when? CnQ no workie!

    The MSI K8T Neo FIS2R (MS-6702) hasn't had a BIOS update since 3-4-2005!
I put a Sempron 64 3000+ in my motherboard, and was very disappointed that it is recognized as an "AMD Unknown Processor".  Sure, it works, but one of the reasons I bought it is in the hopes of getting AMD Cool n Quiet to work.  However, apparently the AMD driver can't recognize the CPU due to the old BIOS on the motherboard.
Every other MSI skt 754 board supports Sempron E6 revision already.  Why not the K8T Neo FIS2R?  Where have all the MSI BIOS programmers gone?  I have been waiting 2-months for a BIOS update to support the E6 Semprons.  I have asked and begged MSI Tech Support.  I am tempted to switch to ASUS or some other company that is actually timely with BIOS updates.  Only reason I haven't yet, is this board is everything I want EXCEPT for Cool n Quiet not working.  It's starting to look like there is no BIOS update in sight, so I am very disappointed.
Anyone here work for MSI can confirm there are no plans for a BIOS update?  Because I don't want to wait around for something that's not going to happen.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I thought the mods here are MSI staff... I was just kind of hoping there's MSI staff lurking here, seeing what people think of their products or seeing what people complain about.
No, pretty much C 'n Q is the only reason I'm disappointed, but it was something I was really set on getting to work since this is a server that's up 24/7, but isn't utilized but maybe 4hrs out of a given day.  I could reduce frequency and voltage, but unlike C 'n Q, it won't automatically increase speed and voltage based on demand - which is something I want since although it's a server, I also use it as a regular PC as well.
I've even tried the 2.33 beta BIOS with no change, and even found a 5.52 BIOS in their BIOS testing directory.  I guess that BIOS was for a different kind of 6702, although I had pulled out the peripheral modules with AMI's MMTOOL and they looked the same as the existing BIOS, but that BIOS killed my motherboard so it couldn't have been for a regular 6702.  I had to desolder the BIOS chip with a heat gun, reprogram the old BIOS back on it with an EPROM programmer, and solder in a socket.  I guess that shows my dedication to get C 'n Q working!

  • MSI K8T Neo Boot Trouble

I just got the MSI K8T Neo, once it passes the splash screen, RAID, etc.  It will just restart.
    Setup:
    MSI K8T Neo
    Athlon64 3000+
    Muskin Blue 3200
    Radeon 9800 Pro
    Maxtor 40GB (7200rpm)
This is the minimum i tried to boot with still won't work.  I also have 2 Maxtor 160 GB HDD, Samsung DVD-R/CD-RW, Sony DVD+/-RW.   My case PS is Antec 300 Watt.  I've read in a lot of other posts that this isn't nearly enough.  Is this an obvious problem and i should swap up to Antec 430 or something?  Or could it possibly be something else?

I upgraded my PSU to Antec 430 (Specs in Sig), figured that would be enough.  I guess it may not have been the problem.  I'm still just trying to boot with just Graphics card and 40 GB HDD, windows xp sp1.  Everytime it boots it passes the Corecell screen, the raid screen, and goes into the "computer did not safely shut down."  I've tried safe mode, regularly, booting into command prompt.  As soon as i select the option the computer just reboots.  Checked for shorts and didn't find any.    Anyone else have any ideas of what it may be, i just can't seem to think of any other possibilities.

We have seen this happen alot in the P4 Forum, As There seems to be numerous Members that are having some compatability issues with the ATI-9700, Pro, and Non Pro VPU's . Someone Contacted ATI Tech. Support Directely and recieved this Response >> Dated Dec 24, 2003 at 01:10 PM reply
    Hi David,
This video card has a know problem with the some of the MSI manufactured motherboards. It seems that the Boards involved are the VIA series, and the INTEL i865PE series. The only ATI cards that work have to have a serial # with -30 at the end or higher or they will not work. Because this card is discontinued our supplier cannot gaurantee a -30 card as a replacement. We can only exchange for a different item within the first 15 days so the only thing I can suggest is to see if you have a friend that may want to buy the card as there is probably nothing wrong with it and then buy another one. Any of the new 9600 or 9800 series don't have this problem. If you have any other questions let me know. Thanks alot.
Ryan S.   Senior Tech. ATI Canada
I hope that this is Not the case with your Board. And now we have also seen that this compatability issue is NOT Just limited to the i865PE's as I have seen Threads involving both the SIS 655 and the INTEL i875P MSI Boards also.
I have also recieved word that some of the Rev.1-A 9700 Boards were also only 4 Layer PCB's, Not the Normal 5 Layer, and this is Leading to the Graphic Cards NOT Making Good Contact in the AGP Slot. And I have Read that this can be somewhat remedied by trying to (Gently) Making sure that the Card is inserted Completely into the Slot, also try (Again very gently) wiggling the Card back, and forth, to help establish better contact with the cards Gold Fingers, and the slot itself........I dont know, check and see if your Card is one of the -30 Cards, or look in SANDRA, and Under "Information Module", select "PCI, AGP, Card Reader" and Check AGP, and see what the Rev. is for your Card if it has the (A_1) then it may be a Thin one , I know; sounds rediculous, does'nt it? Sorry I could not Be of Any more assistance........Let us know.........SEAN REILLY875

I've had one KVR400X64C25/512 and it have worked like a charm. Now I've bought another one (total 1gb).
When I've inserted it and start the computer I only get the CoreCell logo scren, it do not boot correctly.

    I've tried the following:
    * run only the new memory [works]
    * run only the old memory [works]
    * DIMM1 + DIMM3 [only CoreCell screen]
    * DIMM1 + DIMM2 [only CoreCell screen]
    * DIMM2 + DIMM3 [only a black screen]
    what should I do?

A PSU is rated to run at +/-5% and that is well within it's rating. As for wether ists big enough there is no way we can say as you still did not give full system specs.
If it won't run with the third stick of RAM then pull it out for the moment and see if the system will boot again. If it does then during post you will see a Bios version listed. That board only supports Bios versions to 2.2 at the moment so please also list what actuall Bios version you have.
Ok, have booted with one instead of two sticks (one works, two don't, do not have three sticks)..
AMIBIOS A6702VMS v2.2 released 030405. The autodetect settings (at startup): Clock = 400Mhz, CAS 2.5 which seems correct.

  • [Athlon64] MSI K8T Neo FSR / Early Chipset Initialization

    Hi There,
My MSI K8N Neo Platinum has a broken LAN interface, i don't have the papers of it so I can't send it for RMA. So i bought a MSI K8T Neo FSR.
But there is a problem, when i power up the system, the fans are spinning, the hard disk spins up and the CDRW/DVDROM drives are working. The only thing the system does is hanging at the "Early Chipset Initialization" state accoding to the D-Bracket.
    - Tried an other VGA Card > No result (Radeon 9200, Club3D)
    - Bought other memory (I do have 1GB now , but still no result)
    - Tried resetting the BIOS > No result
    - Tried removing the RAM, the system beeps there's no RAM in the system, but when i put it back in the system wouldn't boot again.
    - Tried to boot up only with R9200, CPU and RAM, and still it won't work.
    - Tried to boot outside the case, but still no result.
I tried my processor, memory, PSU and vga card (6800LE) back in my K8N system and it works great, so i don't think my PSU is too weak.
And I aint thinking that my motherboard is broke, it still beeps without memory in it.
I am getting really confused, i'm out of money now so i can't buy some new stuff.
    Anyone ideas?
Specs in signature. (PSU 18A @ 12V), sorry for my bad english.

Why don't you get a PCI network card for the K8N system?  No need to fuss around with a new mb just to get a LAN connection.
    Don't want to use PCI-Cards

Have you tried removing the RAM and then doing a Bios reset? Sometimes things get sticky if the RAM is still in place during a Bios reset.
I would also unplug anything that is not entirely needed to boot so you can simplify the problem.
Another hint. As the RAM controller is inside the CPU the system will not do anything right without RAM. The CPU will imediately hang.
Just tried a BIOS reset without RAM in the system, the system won't boot. Only the CPU, VGA card and the memory is placed. Only the 4pin 12v and the 20 pin is connected.
It just won't work, maybe the board is dead?

Yeah.  I remember when I had that board.  I found the best SATA ports were the Promise ones, but...
What do you think, Tiresmoke?  You had the same board too if I'm not mistaken.
