Msi K8TM ILSR do not recognize 2 modules of RAM???

Everything works fine but one thing, mainboard recognize just one module of RAM. It has sockets for two modules and I put 2 modules of Elixir 400 MHz 256 MB. Mainboard always report 256 MB ram instead of 512 MB.
I also tried to install 2x Spectectek 400 MHz 256 MB and it is warking the same. Then I tried to test both memory sockets and they both working. When I'm using just one module, it is working correctly no matter in wich socket I've placed memory module (when using just one module)...
Please help!
p.s. sorry for bad English...

I got black screen after all trying to solve the situation.
I'm sorry I was rude. I will try to share the knowledge I got during this few days without sleep :(
Anyway, I used another mainboard to solve this problem. Later, I will se what is problem with K8TM ILSR. I downloaded bios version 1.6 from MSI site and flash it ( http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=574&kind=1 ). It was always saying that I have 256 MB of RAM (not 512 as I put 2 modules of 256).
As I said I will try to give my best to post solution of mentioned problem...

  • MSI K8TM-ILSR RAM reported incorrectly

    Hello,
Just bought an MSI-K8TM-ILSR motherboard and GeIL 512MB DDR400 (appears in the compatibility reports as being OK) - but when I boot up (with quick boot option disabled) the BIOS reports 256MB. Linux (MDK10) and WinXP also only report 256MB instead of 512MB. Checked the obvious: looked at the RAM stick to make sure it's 512MB... the manufacturer sticker says it is 512MB.
Checked if there's a BIOS updated related to this - v1.5 said to correct a problem with RAM report after POST... but I already have that version of the BIOS.
    More details on my hardward:
    * Mainboard Details: MSI K8TM-ILSR (6741) , Version 1, BIOS version 1.5 (A6741VMS V1.5 101404)
Note: my BIOS says its date is 14/10/2004 while the website says 20/10/2004 (but still it's v1.5)
    * CPU Details: AMD Sempron 3100+, Clock speed 1.8GHz, FSB 400MHz, Manufacturer code: SDA3100AXBOX
    * Memory Details: GeIL 512MB CL2.5 DDR400 Manufacturer Code: GE5123200B, Slot location: DDR1
    * Power Supply: ANTEC TruePower 430W
    * IDE Devices: Seagate Hard drive and Lite-On CD/RW and DVD
    * Other Devices: N/A
    Operating System: Linux and WinXP

Just did what MSI tech support instructed me to do, i.e. change the AGP aperture which was intially set at 128MB (same as the memory on my AGP card) down to 64MB and lower but it made no difference. I tried up (even though that logically should make things worse), and no difference observed there either...
Hope someone else finds a solution to this...

  • Flashing eMachines BIOS - MSI K8TM ILSR

I picked up this eMachines T6000 from work the other day and it has an MSI-K8TM ILSR motherboard.  I got the newest BIOS here, but is there any danger in flashing it since in every diagnostic I've run it says the board is "eMachines" and says nothing about MSI.  Also, the board itself has no SATA ports but according to the MSI specs it should have 2.  Just wondering if it's dangerous because it seems to be a specially made board for eMachines.  Thanks for the help
    - EM

Also, really the reason I want to do this is to get rid of the "e" boot up splash screen and I can't find a BIOS option to disable it.  I was hoping that flashing to the newest bios would get rid of that ugly thing...and let me see the POST info so i can boot from cd

  • MSI x48c platinum does not recognize 2 PCIe boards

    Hello,
I had the same recycling boot problem as others have noted.
It occured with the Antec Phantom 500 power supply and the Antec Signature 850.
Swtiched to a Cool Master Pro 650 and no more recyling boots.
However, I have 2 PCIe cards that this system board does not recognize in the POST (quick boot disabled) and no new hardware is found under win XP.
    Boards are:
Black Magic Design Intensity (HDMI board)
    http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/techspecs/
United Audio UAD-2 Quad (audio DSP)
    http://www.uaudio.com/products/uad/uad2neve128/index.html
Does not matter if they are together, alone or which PCIe slot.
These bpards are needed for my work.
anybody else have baords that the x48c can't see?
These same boards are fine with other motherboards.

i just remember     i had once similar problem with a sata driver. the issue is this you can not adjust everything in bios in one go and expect mobo to know about it. what i mean is this for instance you disable the raid then you save it and exit and then when it reboot you go back to bios and reset another another parameter,  you save and exit and on reboot you go back to bios and reset another parameter. i got round the prob that way and it worked and mobo saw the sata HDD. give this a shoot good luck and finally make sure raid is disabled
this is what i would do
1- make sure the jumper setting on your IDE Hdd is correct (Y may have to try this twice as there are two different setting on jumper setting for Master)
    2- connect the sata HDD
    3-click on power
4-go to bios and disable raid save exit
5-on reboot go back to bios
6--on first option click on it then you should see all devices that can be seen by mobo if you do not see sata HDD you have to click on enable for the auto to see the device once it sees the device save and exit. REMEMBER THE JUMPER SETTING  ON IDE HDD CAN CAUSE PROB . SO try the other jumper setting for master, repeat this procedure once more hopefully you get it right

Bios recognises the drive.  I have Floppy, CDROM, HDD1 as the boot sequence.  I have tried switching the boot sequence around.
I am completely stumped and extremely frustrated.  Somebody, please help me.  ANY advice would be appreciated, let's get this problem solved!

  • Why my macbook pro 7.1 does not recognize 2x4 GB of ram (PNY), I already tried 1 by 1 and recognize up to 6? What it's wrong

Hello, I updated my RAM from 4 to 8, the problem is that does not recognize the 8 GB, I tried one by one, and only recognize 6 GB (one module of 2 and one module of 4) but by the time I install both, it doesn`t work. (I updated the firmware also)

If you substute each 4GB card, do you still have the system recognizing 6GB? Since it's not recognizing all 8GB, that suggests an issue with that memory ... is that what PNY says should be used in a MBP?  While I haven't used PNY memory, they do have a line that they say is for Apple computers here. Is that what you used?  I normally use Crucial or OWC (their own branded memory or Samsung) which have worked well over a number of systems.

  • K8TM-ILSR RAM speed problem

I'm using 2x512 Kingmax PC3200 memory in my MSI K8TM-ILSR mobo.  The ram works fine & stable (and is even the EXACT same model listed on the official supported DDR400 list), but I can't get it to run any faster than DDR333/PC2700.  I've tried changing the BIOS "DDR Speed" setting from "AUTO"  to "Limit: 400MHz."  I can get the timings down to 2-3-2-5 stable, but I've also tried many other timing combinations (for example, the slowest).  I've also tried tinkering with the voltage.  Oh, and I have the latest firmware update.
And ideas?  Do you think it's the RAM or the motherboard that is to blame?  From my experience, the mobo is extremely picky about the ram - I had 2x512 Kingmax PC3700 ram that wouldn't even allow my PC to POST, even though they worked beautifully on my friend's ASUS mobo.
So, is there any hope for me running my RAM at DDR400 speeds?

Honestly, I have the 6741 K8TM-ILSR running AMD 64 3200 with fsb set to 215.  In this box I have two 1 GB sticks in that board of:
Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency 184 Pin 1GB DDR PC-3200 PRO - Retail
I also run the 6701 K8T Neo-FIS2R.  This is essentially the same chipset just a few more options than the other board.  I have two 512 MB sticks in that board of:
OCZ Enhanced Latency Series Platinum Edition 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 - Retail
The ILSR is on the 1.4 bios and is as solid as a rock even with the fsb set to 215.  You say to yourself so what.  Well.. The memory of course shows its running at 333 as do various utilities.  However, I am running 2 GB's there and any little things going on between those two chips might slow it slightly for safety.  I had to push them to about 2.75 volts to get the stability, but it is solid.  And, I must say that it runs faster and more reliably than the more expensive "Cadillac" of boards.
The Neo-FIS2R I have spent my life rebooting and changing bios rev, currently at 1.6.  I had changed it to 1.8 and determined I could keep that and have a boat anchor or try plan "B".  Plan "B" just happend to "B" bios rev 1.92B.  As I swore repeadtly at every bios version I spent my time mostly rebooting and trying to find a HAL that would work properly.  I happened to read an article where the tested this board and to get compatibility with the widest variety of memory they used bios rev 1.6.  I pondered this and flashed back to 1.6.  She has been stable, but far from fast.  Yes, it has every thing nice including (for the moderator) a 550 W power supply delivering juice (per spec is another story).
What's my point?  The bigger faster board shows 400 speed and all kinds of other things that says it should be the fastest.  It has never run a cycle over stock speed, quite simply because it crashes every time.  It does run, and I suspect a bios rev might make it right someday, but there you go.  The board showing 333 is actually one of the best I have ever had, little micro-atx woogums that it is.  Oh, I had to juice the ocz ram up to about 2.80 volts to get any stability.
    Peace

  • Macbook pro not recognize 16gb

My macbook pro does not recognize the 16gb of ram I installed.  While apple specifies a max of 8gb they have the ability to go up to 16 and many answers on this discussion board state as such.  It only recongizes 8gb.  Is there anything I have to do to recognize the other 8gb?

It is very easy to install a SODIMM and think it is properly seated when it really isn't. Even though I've upgraded hundreds of computers (probably thousands really) it always seems like it needs a bit more pressure than I'm comfortable with. You should hear and feel a 'snick' or snap when it seats.
There's also the possibility that one chip is defective.

  • [nForce] New motherboard not POSTing/booting (MSI K7N2GM2-ILSR)

You peeps seem like a knowledgeable lot so should be able to help with my problem.
I've just got a new motherboard (MSI K7N2GM2-ILSR) to replace my old one (which was a bit iffy in the USB department). I assembled the new motherboard and all the original components (excluding graphics card as my new motheboard has it built in) into the case and tried booting the machine. The bios and logos and so on came up on the screen but it wouldn't boot from the hard drive (probably some windows problem). I thought that a reinstall of windowsXP would fix it but I needed some data off the drive before I could continue. I then took all the components off the new motherboard (memory/processor/hd) and put them back on the old motherboard (which was working fine). When I hooked it all back up, the machine wouldn't even bring up the POST although it was getting power as the fans were going and the power LED was fine. The screen just never ever kicked in from standby. I took the harddrive to work and managed to get the data off it so returned home to put the components back on the new motherboard ready for the new windows install. Only when I turned it on I got the same problem as that with the original motherboard just tested (i.e. nothing came up on the screen, keyboard lights didn't flicker, had power but nothing resulted from it). Now I know it's not the monitor as I checked it worked with my laptop and I doubt it the graphics output as both the AGP card and the onboard graphics don't fire the monitor up.  And I doubt it's the PSU as it's ran the same processor and RAM on my old Asus motherboard.
So does anyone know if this is a broken processor problem, damaged RAM problem or something else?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Rod

"...How easy is it to damage a CPU..."  Without propper care, very easy. 1. When inserting it into Mobo's slot, it should go without any force. If you have to push it, most probably you have bended a pin.- 2. Installing HSF: Applying too much strength to fit it, can break it. ( A corner ) 3.- If installing HSF in wrong way ( HSF Low step shoud go over CPU base step ) it will prevent HSF to work properly because only a part of CPU die will make good contact with HSF base. 4.- Installing HSF without using thermal grease (thermal pad ) over CPU die. ( It will let some air between them, so die is isolated and CPU temp will rise too much). 5. If reinstalling HSF., without cleaning it's base and CPU die from all old thermal compound before adding new one. 6. Adding too much thermal compound, even more if it has silver component ( Can cause a short.) But I'm sure there can be some others.

I am repeatedly and unexpectedly logged-out from my mail box when working on a document. It frequently happens when I choose Send or Save, but it could happen any time. The file that I worked on disappears completely. Before, the file could be found in the draft box or some other place categorized as Auto Recovery. Hi Phil,
Generally, when a user sends an incoming request to an Exchange 2010 Client Access server using Outlook Web App and the user’s mailbox is on an Exchange 2010 mailbox in a different Active Directory site,
Exchange 2010 determines whether the Client Access server has the
ExternalURL property set in that Active Directory site. If it is and the cross-site silent redirection has been enabled, the user will be automatically redirected to the specified URL.
Thus, please make sure the External URL property is set properly in your environment. And also
disable the WindowsAuthentication for OWA VD to have a try. If the issue persists, please try the following KB to reset the Outlook Web Access-related virtual directories:

Sorry for the late reply.  Yes, the ExternalURL is set; otherwise, it wouldn't work at all.  98% of the time everything is fine.
My issue described a problem that appears only during session timeouts.  I've pretty much verified that this is the case; Exchange 2010 does not appropriately handle the timeouts sometimes when using cross-site redirection.

  • Using SCXI Chassis 1001, system will not recognize 1162, 1163 or 1102 modules.

I'm using an SCXI system with a 1001 chassis, labview 6.0 and MIO-16E card.  However, the system will only recognize my 1102B and two of my four 1124 modules.  It will not recognize the other 1124 modules or the 1164, 1163 and 1102 modules, and I don't know why.

Hey Justin, thank you for responding to my message.  As it turns out, the working modules can be detected in any of the 12 slots of the 1001 chassis.  However, the 1164, 1163, and 1102 modules will not work in any of the slots.  I've tried switching out components and using a different chassis, adapter, pc, and DAQ device, systematically changing out one component at a time, but I still get the same results.  I've also tried updating the driver to the latest version available.  The only conclusion that makes sense is that the 1102 modules are bad.  I'm going to try ordering a new 1102 and see if it will work.  If not, then I know it's not the cards and maybe I can return the new module.
But what still bothers me is that I was able to get a new 1124 module to work by placing it next to a 1102B module that is connected to the DAQ device .  The new 1124 module will not work if it is directly connected to the DAQ device itself.  What's even stranger is that my older 1124 modules WILL work if directly connected to the DAQ device.  I was wondering if NI has modified the 1124 in such a way that thier new ones can only operate in conjunction with other modules.
    Thank you,
    Nick

  • K8TM-ILSR CPU temperature "not present"

I've received a replacement K8TM-ILSR after problems with RAM.
That's now fixed, but now in the Health Monitoring part of the BIOS, the CPU temperature reading is weird:
    - at boot up the temperature starts in the 80 degrees C (that can't be right!)
    - then it starts dropping, and after a minute or two reaches 20 degrees C and is still falling
    - when it reaches 16 degrees C the reading disappears and is replaced by "not present"
So as the machine warms up, the CPU temperature actually drops. After a few hours of being switched on, returning to the BIOS still reveals CPU temperature "not present". Only if I reboot from cold do I get a reading, but the reading is always decreasing until it changes to "not present".
BIOS v1.4 was supposed to correct a problem with temperature reading - my motherboard has BIOS v1.5... so that can't be the problem, can it?
I'm wondering whether to send the motherboard back for a replacement while I still can.

Ah, one more thing: the temperature sensor is on the motherboard, and not in the CPU, correct? So if there is a problem it's with the motherboard not the CPU?

  • DAQmx does not recognize NI 9213 TC module

    Hello,
I am quite new to LabView and just tried to set up the system.
We are using a cRIO 9022 Real Time Controller with a cRio 9114.
DAQmx does recognize the Real Time controller but not the TC module (NI 9213) neither any other modules

    Hi Patrick,
The cRIO chassis is programmed with LabVIEW FPGA and the RIO driver and is actually not supported in DAQmx.

  • MSI MS-7200 945G Express will not recognize more than 3 GB

Hello, I just got the MSI board with the Intel 945G chipset, I put in 4x1 GB sticks of RAM, but the BIOS and Windows will not recognize more than 3 GB even though in the specs it says it supports 4 GB. When I use 3 Sticks, the RAM the BIOS displays is 3072MB, with 4 sticks, it displays 3196 MB. I upgraded to the latest BIOS and drivers. Am I missing something? or is this the way it supposed to be?
    Thanks

You need to use XP 64 bit to have it recognize more than 3-3.5 gigs.
Windows xp home and pro are 32 bit limited.  They can see only 3.5 gigs even though you really have 4.  You also will only be able to allocate a max of 2 gigs per process in windows xp home and xp pro.
To beable to see 4 gigs, and alocate more than 2 gigs per proccess you have to run a 64 bit OS. IE windows xp pro 64bit version or windows server 2003 64 bit version.(same thing).
