MSI K9N 570 v.1 , just wont post to monitor

Hi all and Aloha from Hawaii,
My MSI K9N 570 everything works and all new, but when it is put on it just won't post to monitor.
Checked everything all over again, still same problem. Can't even get it to post so to do all that needed to
get it going.  Like to get another one too, maybe someone has an extra to get rid of. I have CPU's and all that
but looking for another one that works as for I have another build to do.
I got to like the K9N because it fits my case and I can add many more things to it. If anyone has an extra they dont want let me know and send a reply or post and I'll contact you back. Back here in Hawaii not to much parts to get
unless ordered.
K9N SLI 570 v.1 ..... AMD  AM2 CPU . This one has dual PCIe Slots for Video cards.
Thanks to all this forum for alot of good worth while advice also.

,  , Aloha glad to hear from you and .... ( Mahalo Nui Loa ) to you,
Fredrik, Where you at are you locally placed? Anyway yeh all it does is come on, but not even the CPU gets warm, I think I be looking for a new mobo soon. It was free though.
I have everything for another one so I be looking around. I Like the MSI mobo's because they fit in good and are sotra
big and look good in the case.  Trying to find out how to get another worth while mobo, but I dont game so a good dependable one will do. Have a good amount of AM2 CPU's and 939 also. Intel core duo's and some AM2 Quad 4's.
Have a whole shoe box of Memory sticks from scoring at times. So I dont have any problems with parts now. I also
have (2) Old Dragon case's, (2) - Alienware 2001 cases with the name on the front cover and couple more different cases
Also have a older  ASUS A8V- Deluxe with a ...( AGP XFX 256 video card ), and it works fine but thats kinda old too.
I dont know how to operate to use Newegg, the website. Never tried, so have to learn what to do to get a contact.
The rig I am doing now is for a Cooler Master HAF 932 case I bought for .... $30.00 from a guy here. The Power unit works fine and he gave me a video card free a .... ( ATI Radeon HD3850PG3-D3(R) ), it works too.  He is swell, and told me the Zotac  Quad MoBo in it might be dead or the , PU, or the CPU, but turn out all for 30.00 bucks so not to bad of a deal.  This site helps alot too with the information they give out and is really good. Well thanks for the reply and if you are near get to me for my email.

this also could be the source of the issue,
use only matched memory sticks and either 1, 2 or 4 but not 3
right now are in slots 1-3, you say i should try them in 1-2, 1-4 or 2-4? anyway i've already try 512 in slot 1 only, 1gb in slot 1 only, and no ram at all but nothing changed..

A processer problem most likely. Is there a lot of dust?
no, just the usual. already remove it and installed again jus in case, same behaviour

  • P35 neo combo wont post

Hi, i just bought new motherboard for my system (msi p35 neo combo) and it wont post or beep at all, all the fans start but the screen wont wake up(aka black screen). All the components works just fine on my old asrock 775-dualvsta. So far i've tried to boot up with&without any ram, graphics card, hard-disks, checked all cables X times, re-seated cpu cooler, cleared cmos, etc. No go! :( Any advices?
I bet it's DOA but i want to be sure before RMA, long process... >:(
    My setup: C2D e6300, radeon x1950pro, 2gb PQI 800mhz ddr2, samsung t166 500gb, scythe ninja plus, antec slk3700amb, Hec PM-420PB.

Have you checked if all power connectors for board and video card are properly connected?
    Board:
    - 20/24-Pin ATX
    - 4-Pin +12V CPU (connector cables should be black/yellow, otherwise it is additional 4-Pin plug for the 20+4 ATX connector above)
    Video Card:
    - 6-Pin +12V PCIe

Take the board out of the case and test it on a non-conducting surface in barebone confuguration (just CPU, video card, one stick of RAM, power connectors, keyboard).  Clear CMOS with main A/C power connector removed from PSU after hardware changes.  See if that changes anything.

  • MSI K9N NEO - Whats the best geforce ?? MY 6200 LE WONT WORK !

    Hi all.
When i turn on the PC with the Geforce 6200 LE in the PCIE slot... the graphics are seriously messed up. red lines and blue bands down the screen and strange characters everywhere.
Only way I could install windows onto the new blank HD was to put in an old PCI graphicswe card and like magic... its normal. Now i used the old card to get me onto the internet and got every new driver for the geforce 6200 LE I could find, but no matter which driver I apply the pc just wont boot with the 6200LE in.
    My system spec is
    K9N Neo MS-7260
    AMD Althlon 64 3200+ AM2
    1gb GSkill DDRII 800 RAM
    "3DFusion" Geforce 6200LE
Could it be the fact that 3DFusion cards are not compatible with the K9N Neo or nforce 550 and if so... presumably I need either an NVIDIA geforce or an MSI geforce rather than my 3dfusion card ???
So to sum up guys... shall I sell the 3dfusion geforce 6200LE and buy an MSI Geforce.... and if so... which card will DEFINITELY work with the nForce 550 / K9N Neo ???
It seems 3dfusion  cards arent compatible with nforce550 or k9n.

do you have the VGA in the BIOS set to PCIE? I just set up my new comp with a 550 chipset and an ATI card and I'm pretty sure I changed the VGA setting in the BIOS

  • Msi 790gx-g65 wont post after shtting off the night before

Tried turning it on this morning only to find out it wont post. Symptoms are....
    1. Everything powers on, Fans. and all. but you cannot shut it off while holding the powerswitch in 4sec's.
    only by unplugging the powersupply
    2. All phase lights come on except for the #2 from the left #X###.
Only thing I can think of is it could either be the CPU of motherboard. I have already ruled out PSU Video And Memory since I took out the memory and didn't get any error codes at all, I have already done the out of the case test and reseated the CPU along with only using one stick of memory with the same exact results. this CPU worked alright but seemed to be a little on the hot side since I got it. could this be a dead CPU? HM.. I Don't know? you're opinions are greatly appreciated..thank you.

It has to be that little, as without it could function better, no joke.
Only about a grain of rice give or take. Im buying a new motherboard. since the onboard video will not even work, I am confident that its the board. I have always bought MSI Motherboards but all were intel untill now. Seems that i may have gotten a faulty board. Its also been more than 30 days and I would have to send it back to msi and I doubt they would even take it back since I have put afterarket cooler on it. I'm sure they would blame me for it going bad. From the first day I seen high temps on this board, its not MSI's fault either.Thats just how things go. Maybe ill have more luck with the next board.

if i try to restart from windows it will not post if i try to turn power on with switch on case (antec 900) lights come on alot of sound but will not post, unless i use switch on motherboard  it will not post at first it was random but its getting worse i tried the new bios 1.9 no luck
it works great other than i have to use power switch on motherboard for boot up
temps are normal, i have reseat the cpu, memory power cables nothing ran tests after test it all seems fine but it wont post with windows restart or power switch on tower

Since both problems and fixing has to do with the power supply unit (PSU), I would check power connections. Perhaps try with another PSU, but it sounds like if some devices share the wrong power line. Antec PSUs usually come with a manual, have a look there for good distribution of the cables/connections.
Could also be traces - metal debris - in the motherboard, that creates power "jumping".

  • MSI GTX 570 OC - Received some dodgy card with wrong cooler/pcb?

So received my GTX 570 OC today but when i opened the box was suprised to see that box didnt really contain what i ordered for. Very first i thought i just got GTX480 by mistake instead of 570, but then started to look more closely and tthe sticker on the card says 570. Then looked back of the card and cooler fitting looks pretty dodby, empty screw holes + some weird foam part on the back of the pcb. Pcb also seems to be MSI:s own design which is quite big problem for me as planned to build custom watercool loop for summer so when this is non ref desing any of the 570 waterblock most likely wont fit to it :(
This is the card i ordered : http://eu.msi.com/product/vga/N570GTX-M2D12D5-OC.html
And this is what i received :

nope its not, its far worse. its older nvidia's thermal design used on 480 series..
The newest nvidia's thermal design also include the innovative Vapour Chamber:
[the older nvidia thermal design from prevision generation don't have such]
    - Innovative thermal design: Vapour Chamber (Quieter than previous generation)
The newest Nvidia's design is much more effective than the older one

agreed - re the text in blue
but why ?  I thought the GTX480 cooler was less efficient than the new one on the 570/580 ?  noisier and a lot hotter
so why use it on the new 570 ?  to reduce cost ?
still rather annoyed I didn't spot it
unless you buy what you know to be a specialist cooled version, like the Twin-Frozr, Phantom, Twin fan versions etc etc - you'd be pretty right in expecting a stock reference cooler
not a last gen cooler  :(

We don't known, and we can guess only. But i very doubt that's cost related.
There are only very few MSI's units of 570 that are using this older cooler..
99.99% of MSI's 570, [or 580] [which are using Nvidia's coolers] are using the newest Nvidia's thermal design.
Looks like the some of the very 1st revisions of the 570 was shipped with this old cooler.
[Guesses: due an mistake or maybe newest design was N/A yet or was out of stock at this time]

  • Planning To buy MSI K9N Platinum + AMD X2 3800+

    Hello everyone,
as the title as Iam planning to buy a MSI K9N Platinum board with an AMD X2 3800+ for a new system build. Ive been out of the game for a while, the last time I was really up to date on computer technology is when the AMD XP 2500+ Barton was the hottest thing on the market, some what of a new comer to dual core technology. I have a few questions, mainly about the board it self. I did a little searching and that answered some of my question but I have a few more.
Ive read a lot about the shutdown problems from the board when transferring large files or burning DVDs. I have a few questions about that.
From what I see so far, this is a very informative forum and I appreciate any and all information. So here goes:
    1) It says on the MSI website that the ram slot for this motherboard is at 1.8 volts. The ram Iam planning to get is OCZ Platinum EL XTC PC2-6400 1GB 2X512 DDR2 CL4-5-4-15 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit. On the OCZ website it says that the ram modules run at 2.1 volts. My Question is if I stick this ram in the mother board will it boot long enough for me to go into the bios and change the ram voltage to 2.1 volts?
    2) Now Ive read about the shutdown problems with this board. Ive seen a lot of people up the VCore to 1.35V. If I do this along with a bios flash, will this take care of the problems?
    3) Now the dealer that Iam buying my PC from didn't have this board in stock for the last week. He just got them in 2 days ago this week. Therefore Iam assuming he has the lastest version of these boards. Now are these problems taken care of on the new version of these boards? If not what can I do to get rid of them?
    4) Is there anything else I should know about this motherboard?
    Thanks for the the help.
    Ron

Yes, you could set up manually the voltage to 2.1v perfectly I've got one k9nsli p, with an amdx2 3800+ whit 2gb ddr2 (512x4 twins pack corsair xms2 ddr2 800) that works at 1,9v

My shutdowns problems was resolved by unnistallin' nvidia IDE controller, nothing about vcore or flashin bios... I keep original bios version 1.0 & Core center shows vcore at 1.33v

Good question... 2morrow I'll check on the box of my k9 the part number and will post it

The first week, I was desire burn my k9  shutdowns... shutdowns.... shutdowns... after I find the cause of that ShiX$/#(! (nvidi IDesuxs controller) my life is happy!

  • MSI gtx 570 twin frozr III - Dual Screen Windowed mode issues

Ok, so... I was running a solo monitor 1440x900 resolution, i recently purchased a brand new asus 24 inch 1900x1080 monitor. Basically what is happening is when i play WoW or Battlefield 3 in windowed mode on the 1080p monitor the colors are not perfect. When i go full-screen on the new monitor no issues, but that is not what i want to have to live with. When i say the colors are not perfect what i mean is, for example when i look @ the sky instead of being a smooth transition or blend from one shade of the sky to the next it is bars or stripes of each shade as if i am looking at the sky in 8 bit color instead of 32 bit color. Another thing to note is that when i login to windows 7 the blue screen where i input the password has the same effect. The 1440x900 monitor is running everything just fine. the only issue is with the 1080p monitor.
I am using DVI cabling for both, and have swapped them around to see if that was the issue, and sadly it is not. I am running the updated gpu driver, which i uninstalled and re-downloaded and installed again tonight.
When i use the HDMI cable,  that fixes the issue but i need the HDMI for my 42 inch tv.
Also in windows, just to cover my bases with this post, i have the native resolutions properly configured, as well as in the game for the given monitor it is being played on.
Anyone know of a fix for this?
    i7 2600k
    asus PBZ68-v Pro/Gen3
    Msi gtx 570
    Samsung syncmaster 953bw (1440x900)
    Asus VS248 (1900x1080)
I am more than happy to re-explain anything that may not be as descriptive or clear to you just let me know!
    EDIT!
When i run the 24 inch 1080p new monitor as my only monitor on the system, everything runs perfectly...
    Edit #2
Ok so i have pin pointed a possible cause
This msi gtx 570 struggles with operating multiple displays with different resolutions, while dual screening with my 1080p television and the 1080p display, everything runs as expected. Having to also render a 1440x900 display is probably the reason i am having the graphic issues. Is there any type of utility, setting, or other fix to this type issue? also this gpu is certainly less than 2 weeks since i purchased i could get a different card to remedy this... any suggestion? if you suggest a different card can you say so with certainty that it will work properly under the condition in which 2 resolutions will be required?

Ok, the problem is fixed and Svet i skipped a step or two. I installed the new driver with the clean install to save time for an initial attempt. What is interesting is that with the Geforce driver, only one 1920x1080 resolution was available
The msi driver gave me 2 options, 1920x1080 and 1920x1080 (native). The latter resolution fixed the issue for whatever reason.
The solution to this problem is so easy, when i purchased battlefield 3 it prompted me to download the geforce.com driver and i did not think anything of it at the time, lesson learned.

  • MSI K9N SLI: acpi, shutdown, ethernet "not enough resources"

I recently got the MSI K9N SLI, new ram, gpu to upgrade my computer. I did a fresh install of windows xp pro but the computer kept going into some hibernating/power saving mode suddenly during install of windows. (The power led blinks slowly) After this I can not restart until I switch the I/O button at the back of the psu to off.
-I remembered seeing some options in the bios so I switched off the ability of pci/pcie devices to recover from hibernation/sleep mode.
-The install of windows then got a little further, until it says installing/configuring network devices. A new shutdown (this time a complete shutdown, where I can simply start the pc again at the front). This happens every time.
-I now turned off acpi (advanced power saving... etc) in bios, and the installation of windows went fine. However...
-Now the integrated ethernet lan devices says they cant find enough resources for it to work. So I cannot access the internet. Otherwise the system performs and runs smoothly. Have played games/music..etc.
-Then to solve the ethernet problem I looked here in these forums where I found this post:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=98742.0
This seemed to be a solution...however, it sets the acpi function to enabled, which causes the shutdown/hibernation/sleep mode during install.
When I disable this bios function, everything except the lan problem, works fine. However this seems to make windows install the wrong HAL or device driver for the ethernet/communication part of windows.
It also seem that others are having trouble with their integrated lan. One person's solutin was to install a separate ethernet card, which I am going to try. But I would like to have the benefit of having acpi enabled as it seem to be an important function safetywise.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=99445.msg722820#quickreply
I can recreate the shutdown during windows install every time by enabling the acpi function in bios. Although turning it on after installing windows doesnt seem to do anything, as windows seem to already have installed the wrong driver components. It also doesnt solve the ethernet problem as this requires at least a repair-install of windows.
I apologize for the long post but more information is generally better, right?!
Any ideas of how to solve this?
Thank you to everyone who replies anything helpful!

Quote from: Ferro on 15-August-06, 09:25:13
Just installed the new harddrive and this time I only disabled the ethernet lan during windows install. Then installing the amd cpu software and the realtek audio drivers.
However I am experiencing some minor unstabilities, one restart while surfing so far. Been reading about similar problems with other k9n sli users and if more restarts happen I am returning this mb and getting an Asus. Had Asus for the three last upgrades and never had any problems. Could be a fluke of course. Heard good things about Msi though.
What PSU are you using including the +12V@ value A? Gd luck.

I will load up and check it out   Still the fact I get medium with x8 aa is good imo. Game looks fantastic and with luck the FC2 engine won't be such a resource whore like crysis. I recall the Sandune (think thats the name) for FC1 even on low settings things still looked fantastic.

  • Motherboard wont post

I just got my motherboard back from warranty (after 7 bloody weeks)...anyways i put it all together and the stupid thing wont post. There are no sounds whatsoever coming from the motherboard. I double checked all the connections and everything is in order. I know its not the power supply because its a brand new Antec case out of the box (see signature for details). All other components are operational and everything gets powered up but like i said no sounds at all  (POST) can be heard from the motherboard.
    Any ideas boys and girls????
If the case is that the motherboard is stuffed even though it just came back from warrant after being fixed, what is MSI's policy on things like this, because the warranty period just expired. This was the second time the mtherboard was being fixed by MSI rather than being replaced and both times it took them 7 weeks.
    I'm open to suggestions....please advise.....thanks

i got no accessories other than the components specified in the signature. Even if i had anything else connected there should be beeps generated by the board to suggest an error.

  • Please help 790GX G65 wont POST

    Hi MSI community,
I have a brand new 790GX-G65 as part of my all new build and it wont POST.
    here's the system
790GX-G65 - winki edition (winki not connected)
    Phennom X4 965 Black (AM3 package, 3.4GHz)
    Corsair 400W PSU
2*2GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 - p/n cmd4gx3m2b1600c8 , which according to the reseller's website is guaranteed to support all DDR3 platforms from AMD
using the onboard ATI RADEON 3300 via the vga socket
I have the board outside the chassis on a peice of cardboard
the 24 pin connector, 4pin connector, heatsink fan, CPU, ram, keyboard(tried PS2 and USB ones) and monitor are the only things connected.
I have tried using each ram stick individually in slot1, both together in slots 1 and 2 and no ram at all.
In each case when i start the system the fans come on, the reset and power buttons light up, the five blue LEDs in the top right corner come on NB1,LED2,LED3,LED4 first then LED1 a second or so later, but nothing else happens.
no beep codes(have tried with and without the system speaker connected), no signal to the monitor (tried several monitors)
I've tried clearing the CMOS several times.
it seems to me like its a dead chip or board but i cant truly rule out ram.
anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
I will ask around to see if i can find another AM3 chip or board to test against but most of my friends went the intel route
    many thanks

    Hi Guys,
Thankyou all for replying, sadly though it still doesn't work :(

I could understand the psu struggling if i had load of othe things running off it, but it's just the board and chip.
I'm happy that its not the board shorting out on the cardboard.
I've tried it with a couple of old ATI rage IIs I had lying around and theres no joy from either of those. both known to work in other pcs
I'm using the standard AMD HSF so the clip on that shouldn't have caused a problem. I didn't need a hammer to fit it!
    HDD is not connected
    CMOS battery seems fine
paperclip test was fine, fan spun up immediately

I cant be sure what bios version i have, its a brand new board and i havn't flashed it so whatever it shipped with, v1.4 I guess. Are there any known issues?
    Bas
I checked the pins again, all there and straight.

I'll try and lay my hands on a beefier PSU tomorrow, but with just chip and board it should run ok. I know it's near the bottom end of the recommended range but the PSU companies will always want to sell you more than you need.
One other thing I tried just for kicks was to start the board without the chip in at all,
the hsf still came on, the speaker still did nothing but only LED1 LED2 LED3 and LED4 came on, not NB1. I have no idea what (if anything) that means, but hopefullly someone on here does.
Anymore ideas out there? They would be gratefully received
