MSI K9N Neo board- and Windows 2003 R2

Hello,
I am having some compatibility issues with running a K9N Neo board and Windows 2003 r2
--I cant get core center to run
--I cant get audio/sound to work, it is all installed except for one thing.
so then i killed by loading XP drivers that it did not like.
Does anyone have a list of the minmum drivers off my CD that i should install to get it going, or are they on the MSI site for W2k3?  I could not find them.
This machine works totally fine with XP and Vista.
thanks

That is mostly correct, absolutely. But it happens that Microsoft thought-up some security measure or two that prohibits some - for example - updating procedures. Here is an example, but I doubt that is your problem. Please note the kb number, you don't have to learn Swedish.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922582/sv
Modificacion: Very few companies do I believe produce special 2003 drivers. Don't think I ever saw any MSI ones, anyway. Isn't it enough that XP and Vista works? Those are better for gaming, entertainment, VOIP and such.

    Dear everyone!
Has anyone run on ATI Radeon 8500LE 64MB on a MSI 865P Neo Board together? Currently, I running this graphic card on MSI 865P Neo Board and seems like everytime I started to play games, it will hang! When I change to Riva TNT2 gfx card, it can play my games. Seems like MSI 865P unable to run my ATI Radeon 8500LE....
Perviously, I use MSI 845GE MAX-L, yet no prob faced running on my 8500LE card.
Anyone have any advice or patches or anything to fix this bugs? Pls advice!!
    Thanxs alot!!

none of the suggestions on that thread worked for me
and i dont understand why you should disable features that will make the radeon perform at a lower level.
this is what i did to stop the 9700 pro from crashing.
Fresh install of windows then install service packs FIRST THING install chipset INF drivers before anything else.
I had trouble with the Catalyst 3.2 drivers. The 3.4 cats work fine for me. Also in the bios AGP apeture set that to 256mb. If the cat 3.4 drivers dont work try the 3.1 drivers

  • MSI K9N NEO-F V3 Cannot install Windows 7

I am trying to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on my wife's desktop computer.
    The system is:
MSI K9N NEO-F V3 Motherboard with BIOS American Megatrends Inc. V2.4
    AMD 64 X2 3.00 Gigahertz
    2 Gigs of RAM
    Windows XP Pro 32 bit
    500 gigs SATA HDD
120 gig and 40 gig IDE HDDs
As it has to be a clean install, I start the computer with the Windows 7 in the DVD drive. I get loading files, Starting Widows and then the background picture (picture with vapour trails, a dove and some grass) for the "Select Language etc." screen. Then nothing, no matter how long I leave it.
Got onto Microsoft and spent 1.5 hours trying to get it to work. We even went into the BIOS, made sure the DVD drive was the first boot device. When I clicked F10 to save and exit I did not get the "Press any key to boot from the CD/DVD", it went back to the beginning of booting.
The disk is OK, it is a Microsoft disk and worked fine when I tested it in my PC.
    Can anyone help, please?

Disconnect the two PATA hard drives.
Make sure the hard drive you're installing Windows on is formatted before running the setup.

I was looking for a 125watt board too and its really hard to find one from MSI that have the things I want, I cant even find a board with Nvidia chipset, amd2+ and support a 125 watt processor (or not tested OK yet) or some boards without a cpu support list yet. So no AM2+ for you if you want a 125watt processor on it and a nvidia chipset. is there any reason why MSI cant fix 125watt support?
If you dont care about a future quadcores upgrade you can buy a old AM2 board, but dont forgot to look at the cpu support list, because the most AM2 boards doesnt support 125watt either.  ???

That is not true, 125W support usually have high end mainboards.

  • Probems with msi 875p neo Fis2r and network controller driver

Hi guys just wondering if anyone could help me with my msi 875p neo FIS2R and problems with the network controller driver/network card.
I'm running xp on a computer my nextdoor neighbour gave me. I got it working fine  with service pack 3 installed but then installed a bunch of windows updates last night and the computer would switch itself off before windows could start. Now I reinstalled xp and unfortunately it does not recognise the network controller/card at all now. I tried installing the intel network controller drivers but it stopped because it said no intel adapter/card was installed/present. Could anyone please help with suggestions? I tried running everest and under newtwork it doesnt list intel network adapters but I'm pretty certain it is. Again any suggestions?

Clear CMOS with your PSU unplugged from A/C power.  Then load "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS and retest.

will try that and post later if it worked... ive never cleared cmos, this sort of thing is relatively new to me but thanks again

  • MSI K9N Neo (AM2) memory troubles

Hi guys, I just got a new system which is having some issues, and I'd appreciate any suggestions on what could be wrong.
At first, the system simply crashed during OS boot. A quick test with memtest86 showed 50-60 thousand errors on a single run, so I asked at Corsairs site, got the recommendation to up the voltage to 2.1V. The memory got a whole lot more stable, but still showed a few dozen errors per run.
So, I proceeded to test the modules one by one, and found them operating well as long as only a single module was inserted (no errors on a 12+ hours run). I moved them around, tried different dimm slots, but as soon as both modules were in, there were errors ranging from a few to several dozen per memtest pass.
    The system specs are:
MSI K9N Neo (nforce 550 based)
    AMD Athlon64 3500+
    Corsair Value Select 2048MB PC5300 kit (2 1GB dimms, 667 MHz)
    Geforce 6600 video card.
BIOS settings are defaults (memory timing set from SPD) with memory voltage increased to 2.1 volt as per Corsairs suggestion.
Any suggestions? Is the MB shot, should I get it exchanged, or could there be some other problem?

    Hi Raider,
I would not run in dual channel mode until you get at least one stick to run w/o errors in Memtest86. I had a similar problem with different memory but the same MSI K9N MoBo. Sometimes it passed and sometimes it did not. My two problems were (1) power supply, only 350W, so I jumped up to a 500W, and (2) memory timings. The MSI site said the MoBo has trouble with SPD timings. So try moving the mem speed down a whole bunch, like 166Mhz or 133Mhz clocking first. If it passes all mem tests, then move the clock back up and try to look up the memory timings for your memory and type them in manually in your BIOS. For me, I went from 2.5-3-3-8 2T  to  3.0 5-5-8 2T and it ran forever.  From Windows I used CPU-z to see the memory SPD and timings and set it to the lower settings from CPU-z to make it work the first time. This week I am taking back the memory to the store because it won't run at spec.
    Good Luck
    Dave T

msi k9n neo v3, i have a problem with this board cuz bios want save settings so it only works on default values.

  • K9N Neo-F and USB Mouse problem

    Hello,
Some people including me have noticed problem with USB Mouse when using MSI K9N Neo-F BIOS above 1.3.
Results are simple - when loading Windows, the system initiates USB devices, but when it goes to Windows mouse doesn't work.
There is only one solution to fix the problem, reconnect USB cable from mouse.
It seems to be a BIOS problem, but there have been many BIOSes during 2-3 months and now currently the newest one is 1.63 Beta, which still didn't fix the problem at all.
I contacted MSI, but they can't do anything.
According to my tests, if I change in BIOS S1 to S3, it runs fine until I won't shutdown computer and turn it on again.
I wonder if there's any solution. I'm really mad about it and probably will RMA my mobo or change it to some else.

  • MSI K9N neo - black screen

    Hi everyone
I have a computer with a MSI K9N neo (v.1.0) motherboard. About a 1,5 years old. Until last week it was working fine, but after a hard disk crash (and replacement), i can't get it to boot properly. When i start it up, I can hear the fans and drive spinning, and i get a POST 'beep' (the usual short beep), but only a blank screen - monitor says No signal detected. I've replaced the graphics card with a brand new one, and it didn't help.
    Can anyone help me?
    Computer specs:
    Motherboard: MSI K9N Neo
    Graphics card: Gainward Bliss 7200GS PCX(new) - XFX GeForce 6200 TurboCache(old)
    RAM: 2x Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 512MB

    Check monitor input selection 1|2
Check monitor cable and DVI->VGA converter if you use. Make sure that is filled well.
    Try with different monitor
    Thanks for the reply!
I've tried two monitors, two graphics cards and two PSU's - same result.
If I remove the graphics card and RAM and power up the computer, it does not beep at all, but when one of the memory modules (and/or the graphics card) are installed it beeps twice rapidly.. but the screen is blank no matter what I do..

  • Msi k8n neo plat and microsoft ie

getting my msi k8n neo plat board running satisfactory , except for one problem . when i got to amdmb.com, i start surfing the site, and after a minute or 2, i get a microsoft ie error, send the error report to microsoft, and then ie closes. what is the problem , is it with amdmb.com site? its the only site that this problem with ie is present, all other sites i don,t have this problem

just tryed using the browser firefox, and it works great.  its just ie that doesn,t work on amd.mb, and only that site. wierd problem, never experienced anything like it before. had run a short memtest , no errors.  the 6800gt , msi k8n neo plat and amd 64 3400 work great. get some super madonion benchmarks-all default-1024 x 768 32bit- 22,755. i was hoping for 22,000, but exceeded my expectations. can get into the 23,000 + with overclocking the 6800gt, have had it overclocked at gpu-412, memory 1.12. not sure how much more you can increase the numbers, thinking my gpu is close to the limit at 412.had a problem with windvd, it ended up being a configuration in windvd- had to enable hardware acceleration , bingo- worked great after that. got my corsair xms pc 3200 to work at 6-3-3-2 timings. still getting to know the board,  there is definately a learning curve to be delt with on this board, but i am getting it to work better by the day.

if I use slot 1 is Kingston and slot 2 is Kingmax: is OK , But I use slot 1 Kingmax and slot 2 Kingston : black screen.
    I dont know thats why?
you should use matched memory sticks only [as Bernhard already told you]
if you a different one there is no any grantees that they works together
the only think you can try is to place the slowest memory stick in the 1st DIMM and other at other DIMM

A new mb MSI K9N Neo-F, AM2, AMD64, nForce 550, wont boot any more, after 1 month of work without problem. It closed it with Vista, rather slowly, and couldnt restart any more. Bios error code is 42 on a tester in LPT, bios gives no sound nor image, I can start PC (I mean fans and keyboard/CD lights) but not to stop, it is blocked somewhere while loading bios and CPU, before loading memory. Without CPU error code is FF. Any suggestion? I have checked CPU and memory, no effect.

    9. AUD_FPOUT_L
    10. AUD_RET_L
Guide me pls where should i put this cords because i only got 7 cords.
    TNX IN ADVANCE

Your case connectors are not complient with the HD Audio connectivity standard.  In order to make this work, you'll need to disable the Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection Function in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
Connecting your case's ports should be rather either:
    First of all:
    GND ---> 2. AUD_GND
    Then the microphone:
    MIC-IN
    MIC-BIAS
There are only two possible ways to connect these plugs to:
    1. AUD_MIC
    3. AUD_MIC_BIAS
Try both ways. One of them is going to work.  [Remember: In order to make this work, you'll need to disable the Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection Function in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.]
    And then the other thing:
    SPKOUT R ---> 5. AUD_FPOUT_R
    RETURN R ---> 6. AUD_RET_R
Same thing for the left channel.  Just this time use:
    9. AUD_FPOUT_L
    10. AUD_RET_L

  • Oracle 9i and windows 2003 R2 installation issues

    Hi All,
I have a windows 2003 R2 server with oracle 9.2.0.8 installed both OS and DB are 32bit. The server has 12gb ram and I therefore use AWE and /PAE, however when ever the number of connections exceeds >60 memory errors start to appear and sessions crash. Has anyone out there carried out a successful install of 9i and windows 2003 R2. Can anyone help with the resolution of these issues.
    regards
    Alan

    some more information
I’ve just restarted the server with its full quota of 16GB of RAM and selected both boot.ini switches (/PAE and /3GB) at server startup. I then amended the dbblock_lru_latches parameter from 128 to 64. Before I even started the database I tried running ‘ipconfig /all’ at the command prompt with the following result:
    D:\Oracle>ipconfig /all
    Windows IP Configuration
An internal error occurred: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help.
is it windows causing these issues?
