MSI K9N ULTRA 2F max vdimm (max DDR2 voltage!)

1st:   I would like to ask you, the maximum voltage for the vdimm, that MSI K9N ULTRA-2F provides.
2nd:  Will it work with OCZ PC2-6400 EL DDR2 1GB (2X512MB) GOLD EDITION GX XTC ?
Greetings from Greece

Original 7250 supports 1.80 - 2.45v in 0.05v steps , latest bios is :7250v143
K9N ULTRA 2F is MS7250-040 and use another bios , latest : 7250v31
It supports DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) DDR2-667 & DDR2-533
The OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Gold GX XTC Rev 2 Dual Channel 2 GB nominal voltage is 1.95 volt
Latest bios for this board is
K9N Ultra (MS-7250) V3.1 BIOS Release
1. This is AMI BIOS release
2. This BIOS fixes the following problem of the previous version:
-  Update AMD NPT version.
-  Update SB module version.
-  Support AMD AWAY mode.
Hard to say for sure if the VDIMM is the same (max 2.45v) since no manual is availible on any MSI location for
this K9N Ultra-2F version (only found it at Japan site ) . But it should be the same .

What Nero report about the drive?
Make sure that Nero is up to date.
"Drivers I find MSI site. "
Try with latest chipset drivers from Nvidia.
    "Apacer DDR2 1GB 800MHz  (3x)"
    Use 2x memory sticks only.
Try with different SATA cable for the drive.
    Hi.
I have a latest drivers.. I install new drivers from nVidia, from MSI for MB, i found new firmware for my DVD-RW (but is only 1.0)
I use 1,2 or 3 memory stick. I change a 3 cable. I have instaled Daemon tool Pro with one virtual disc. I install daemon later, as I had a problem with optical drive.
    My info from Nero tools

  • K9n ultra-2f strange behaviour with 250htt and more

    Hi... My Pc:
    Athlon 4200+ Windsor F2
    MSI k9n ultra-2f , bios rev. 3.9
    2x 1024 DDR2 Goodram 800mhz
    Palit 8600 sonic+
    Chieftec 420w
I have problem with overclocking more than 240htt... I turn spectrums off , and i set pci-e freq on 103. I also set processor multiplayer on 6 , mem on 400, and HT x2. The problem is that motherboard boot and works with 250 htt , even 300htt but... not always. It works good when i want to boot from shutted down pc, but when i try to change something in bios or reboot it from windows it's not working ( black screen , mobo doesnt boot ) ... I have to turn the pc off , and then turn it on again. Have you guy's some idea's about this problem ;/ ?
I tried with diffrent HT multiplayer's , i saw also that in CPU-Z , with 250-300fsb it shows HT x1 instead of x2-3 which is set in bios.

"The problem is that motherboard boot and works with 250 htt , even 300htt but... not always."
High HTT freq is not important. Go for max CPU freq. and keep HTT below 1000.
Leave CPU multi to Auto, drop HT link to x3, apply 667 memory index.
Then start rising CPU HT with small steps and re-test.

  • How to overclock my x2 3800+ with K9N Ultra

    My current rig as below:-
    AMD X2 3800+ AM2 stock fan
MSI K9N Ultra (MS-7250 v2.0 but on board stated v2.1) bios upgraded from 3.2 to 3.5
    1G DDR2 667 Kingston Value Ram x 2
    MSI 8600GT-Overclock edition
    Lite-on 20X Sata DVD-Ram
    Seagate Sata2 320GB
    WD Pata 120GB
    Cooler Master 500W Extreme
    Cooler Master Centurion 5
As I'd seen in many forums that a lots of people are able to archieve 2.4G~2.6GB easily but I don't know why I can only able to archieve highest at 2.3G only.
My current setting is as below:-
    Multiplier - 10
    HT - 230
    HTT - 5X
    FSB - 287.5
    Ram divider - 533
Clock speed at 2300mHz stock vcore & vdimm 1.95
But the moment I try to increase the HT to 240 or higher it tends to be unstable even I increase the vcore and vdimm.
Can someone advise me on this matter.

"Besides that I'd also tried to set HTT to 3x and loosen the ram timing to 5-5-5-15-20 2T. vcore at 1.45 vdimm 2.0 and HT set to 240 but it won't boot."
try with lesser steps. give CPU vcore only when need. what is your actual memory frequency at latest good OCed settings?
"Btw I'd not seen the function "DOT & aggressive memory timings" where am I suppose to disable it?"
aggressive memory timings option doesn't exist in your BIOS, DOT(Dynamic Overclocking) its Disabled by default, but ensure it.(located in Cell Menu).
"My PCI-E has set to 104Mhz. Coz I'd seen some forum advise to set to 104Mhz. So actually 103Mhz or 104Mhz will be more stable?"
    nop will be the same.
provide screenshots from CPU-Z with your last good known OCed settings.
I'd set to disable on dynamic overclock all the time. btw I'd upload the link CPU-Z validation but I don't know how to put attachment thats why I upload the link.

  • K9N Ultra-2F walls at 260FSB!

    Hi,
I have recently bought Msi K9N Ultra-2F mobo. And my cpu is x2 3600 brisbane. I have a pair of kingston ddr2 667 ram.
A friend of mine also have this mobo too. But his processor is x2 4600. With his system i could do 290fsb by lowering the multiplier to 5x.
But my mobo can only do 260FSB. And it is not stable. Sometimes i can go into windows with this FSB but immediately my systems crashes and gave me Multi Bit ECC error( I have no idea with this error).
Now i am fully stable at 254FSB. But it is only 2.4ghz and this is too low for brisbane processors. I was expecting to go 300FSB+, when i was buying this mobo...
I have tried lots of things, but none of them worked. Now i need suggestions for increasing my FSB.
    Regards,
    ChivaricKnight.

  • K9N Ultra-2F woes...

    Hello,
I have a MSI K9N Ultra - 2F and for the moment an Athlon64 3500+ processor. Right know I am thinking of upgrading my CPU to a Athlon64x2. I did some research in the internet and all was well, until I found this post on your boards.
Needless to say that my m/b serial number is 601-7250-050XXXXXXXXXXXX!!!
The thing is that I bought this m/b 2 years ago. So, should I upgrade and if a problem occurs contact my local dealer (I bought this m/b from a computer store in Greece) or should I contact MSI directly if something goes wrong when I place the Athlon64x2 cpu?
    Thanx in advance

    Hello!
The problem occurs when moving large files around. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=100766.0;wap2
If you should upgrade motherboard and processor, or just the processor, depends very much upon what you use the computer for.

  • MSI KT4 ULTRA MAX VCORE

Is it possible for MSI to add higher Vcore settings with a BIOS update? The MSI KT4 ULTRA has a max Vcore of 1.85 which doesn't really help the overclockers much. If they could get the max Vcore to 2.00 that would be great for XP overclockers.  )

I'm not complaining about my KT4 ULTRA. I think its a good board for people who aren't really into overclocking and performance tweaks, but I love to tweak the performance of my rig. I hate to say that other motherboard companies seem to get the picture, that they should make their boards as overclocking friendly as possible. ASUS, Abit, Epox etc. are considered the best because they have conquered into the overclocking market. I wish MSI would throw their hat in the same market because I personally feel they can.

  • MSI K9N SLI-2F+4GB DDR2 big problem....

    I got this PC:
    MSI K9N SLI-2F
    AMD Athlon64 x2 4200+
    2x1 GB DDR2 Vitesta Extrema 800+
    WD 500 GB AAKS
    LEADTEK 8800 GTS 640 MB
    450 W PSU
Recently i got another 2x1 GB DDR2 Vitesta Extrema 800+.My OS was Windows XP SP2.Of course i knew about de 32bit SO limitation and didn't expect my Windows to take advantage of all 4Gigs.My PC started to freeze on random ocassions.so i decided to install Windows Vista x64.It didn't start to install it just freezes after unpacking (gray bar with black background screen).I take out 2 Gigs.Works like a charm,so it isn't a dvd read problem. I inserted the 2GIGS back PC doesn't even get to boot screen(with 2GB works).I installed SP1 too,to get all hotfixes up to date.same thing.Memory hole is enabled in bios.Tested the sticks 1 by 1 no problem with eighter of them.Just as i write i am running the recently bought sticks, for 2 days,no problem. My bios is 3.8 now,but i downgraded from 3.9 thinking it may solve the problem.I also don't think that the PSU is the problem, because before i had 4x512 DDR2 800 GEIL Ultra (2.1V) wich practicly need same power to run.Hope somebody can help me :(

Quote from: Bas on 26-March-08, 22:01:33
You have tested with all sorts of el-cheapo PSU's.
Do you really believe any of those will run a power eating videocard like a 8800GTS?
I believe it's the videocard and/or the powersupply.
As you managed to install XP without a problem it seems, well then the memory and CPU are fine, as they use a whole lot of memory and CPU power during install.
It would have stalled during installation as well if it was the board/CPU/memory.
However, during that stage the videocard isn't initialized to full potential, but just acting like a 100 year old VGA card and thus not using any power or GPU calculations at all.
Please test your system on a >30A @ 12V powersupply SINGLE rail, to exclude the PSU.
Also, take your friends videocard and put it in your system, but with a heavy 12V amp psu.
Wouldn't be the first time it was both.
Bad memory/CPU/board usually results into BSOD, but underpowered PSU can also cause freezing and those nVidia videocards do react on unstable power by reducing stuff....so yes it can run underpowered...but how long and how good?
BAS, thanks but no thanks.Already solved, and it wasn't the PSU, you PSU FANATIK ).I already said i finished Crysis with this stinky PSU ,no problems.Go buy a PSU that costs twice your PC if that makes you happy, untill proven otherwise i stick to my cheap'o PSU

  • Msi gtx 560ti hawk running always max clocks

    Hello.
My msi gtx 560ti hawk running always max clocks.
OC core clock up to 1000MHz gives similar results.
OC core clock past 1000MHz will stuck it at 1000MHz. Example i set core clock to 1040MHz and run 3DMark11,but
during the test it never exceeds 1000MHz.
Card is 15 months old and worked normally so far.
    My OC results before was
core clock 1000MHz Core Voltage 1.075V
core clock 1040MHz Core Voltage 1.088V
core clock 1100MHz Core Voltage 1.100V max temps ~78C
I never raised core clock over 1100 and memory clock over 2275.
    Things i'm done so far
    used 310.90 310.70 306.97 306.23 301.42 drivers
    disabled antivirus
mounted card out of the case and switched vbios in silence mode
used Afterburner 2.2.3 Evga Precision X
    reinstalled windows7
    reverted cpu to stock clocks
    Any advice?
    System
    MB: msi z68-gd65 (B3) bios V22.8
    cpu: i5-2500K
    gpu: msi gtx 560ti hawk
    psu: corsair TX750V2 (62 amp 12 rail)
    ram: G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 2x4g 1600
    os: Windows7 SP1

No! Nvidia controlpanel was set to max perfomans and windows power options to high perfomance.
I changed nvidia to adaptive (windows stayed high perf) and now the clocks to come down again.
    Thanks Svet!
There is still a OC problem when i set core clock over 1000MHz.
I just ran 3dmark11 at following overclock core     1040MHz
                                                                  shader 2080MHz
                                                                  memory 2100
                                                                  core voltage 1.075+0.013
In results window the 3dmark11 says core clock 1040.
Afterburner 2.3.1 monitoring window says max core clock 1000
                                                                              shader 2000
                                                                              memory 2099
Although i´m not seeing shader adjusting bar in 2.3.1, there are  only core clock adjusting bar.
But adjusting a core clock will adjust shader x2. Am i right?

  • PSU Query for MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU running 3000xp

    Hi There,
Before buying a new Motherboard I was just wondering if the problems I'm getting are related to the PSU which is about 5 years old. I've just upgraded my processor to a Athlon 3000 XP 333 FSB which goes into the MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU (MS-6380E v1.X) motherbaord, which I've upgraded the Bios to version 5.7, I've also  upgraded my graphics card to the Leadtek Geforce FX5900XT which also plugs into the PSU. When setting my fsb to 166 my PC either won't boot or when I try to run say 3DMark it just freezes, but when I set my FSB to 133 it works fine. I was wondering if it is trying to draw too much power from the CPU.
I don't really know how to write the PSU details down correctly so I've just copied everything from the unit.
