MSI K9N2G-Neo and Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition - BIOS Options Problem

Hello, i have this MSI K9N2G-Neo + Athlon X2 7850 BE (REVEEN RCCT 0901SP + Tuniq TX2) + 4 x 2048MB OCZ Platinum 1066MHz, 700 watt real power supply, etc...
The problem is the bios v1.2 and new v1.3 that appears Disabled the CPU Voltage option for this cpu, in gray color or default values and i can´t change it. Now the cpu is running well at 3.2 ghz OC (200x16) some stable but not at all, i think it is a weak OC for a Black Edition CPU. Before i was using the X2 7750 BE and was the same problem with the CPU Voltages Bios´s options too.
Why in the bios isn´t enabled the CPU Voltage option ?
And why this Athlon Kuma don´t appear in the CPU SUPPORT LIST ??
This mother says that support CPUs up to 140watts and AM3... is it sure or it is a lie ?
This bios v1.3 is a few days new, Now i have to wait another 5 moths for a new one ??
Thanks a lot.

Where you saw that?
Hi Svet... i did what u said me with numpad and nothing happended cause the cpu option is disabled. I think there is some kind of incompatibility between this mother and Kumas Core CPU... whit the 7750BE was the some issue too.
MSI official web page and 140Watts mothers support shows it.

So I won a 9750 Phenom today at work    and its the only time I actually liked my boss  (was going to buy the 9650 in the next few days too)
So now I want to upgrade my current system now I am looking for a non omg priced board and wanted to get your opinions.
First on newegg it says MSI K9N2G Neo-FD  but no such board on MSI site only a MSI K9N2G are they the same board?
    board on newegg

    board on msi
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1493&maincat_no=1
This board supports appears to support 125w and 140w phenoms (hooray!)
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=1493&maincat_no=1#menu
Now I will be using 2x2GB DDR800 PC6400 Memory on the board as well as a 8800GT (will soon upgrade to a 4870)
Link to memory I will be using
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3404049
Power supply will be a Corsair TX750w PSU which should be able to handle a 125w cpu right?

    With a RAIDMAX SAGITTA 2 ATX-928WS Black
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156091
So in the end the new rig will be
    Phenom 9750 2.4ghz (no overclocking)
    2x 2GB PC6400 DDR800 Ram
    TX750w Corsair PSU
    8800GT 512mb GPU (future ATI 4870)
    MSI K9N2G Neo-FD
Case RAIDMAX SAGITTA 2 ATX-928WS Black
Everything look ok? Any problems I might have missed that will make me want to punch monitor?

I guess I forgot to edit it...I am using 2x2GB sticks.
My thoughts would be will it fit and can I power it and is there any kind of bottleneck? I wont be overclocking this CPU.
    *edit*
forgot to add I also wonder can it handle 2.1v memory? If it doesn't I need different memory.

  • Since todays updates to PS CC and LR5.4 LR's "Edit in" options dimmed

Since todays updates to PS CC and LR5.4 LR's "Edit in" options dimmed in both the Photo -> Edit in ... menu and the contextual menu. I've tried tossing the Photoshop.plist and relaunching Photoshop CC then relaunching LR also rebooting machine. LR preferences for external editor recognize Photoshop CC and do not allow a change to primary editor. Any tips, hints, or way to go back to LR 5.3? I'm on a deadline and this is a real time suck to manually export, edit, reimport... next photo, repeat...
    Thanks,
    David

Okay, so after all of that, the issue is that I have Smart Previews activated so I can edit within LR fine but any option to Edit in... anything else is grayed out. That makes sense, but there really should be a dialog reminding us ideally with an option to located/connect the actual images.

  • MSI K8T Neo and Mushkin 3200 Level II

I have read some of the posts about RAM and the K8T Neo, but I want some of your opinions on this. I have a 3200+ Athlon64 on the K8T and I am trying to use a 512MB DIMM of PC3200 Mushkin Level II in the board. The only other cards plugged into the board are the MSI D-Bracket (not the USB part, only the diagnostic part) and a Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4600. Usually I cannot even get the board to post with the Mushkin 3200 in the board. I have a stick of Muskin 2700 Level II and the board works fine with it using the Auto settings and I have even installed Windows XP using this memory. Whenever I try using the 3200, the D-Bracket freezes at the early chipset initilization. I have put the PC3200 stick in a Nforce2 board and the OS boots fine with no problems.
So is the problem the PC3200 or the board or both? Is the RAM not up to spec so it cannot handle the heftier requirements of the K8 but will work in the Nforce2 or can the board not handle/configure the better memory? Opinions?

Good question. I bought them from New Egg around the beginning of the year. They have black heatsinks on them so it is really hard to tell. 5 or 6, I can't tell and wouldn't want to try to take them off at this point.
My experience with them was that I was running the ram in the bios with the default settings and was unable to completely install WinXP without problems/errors. After making the one change from 2 to 3 in the timings (noted earlier), every thing installed fine.
After updating to the 1.20 bios, I had a heck of a time getting into the bios. I thought I had hosed it. Then I realized that the bios set my RAM back to the default settings. One change and everything was fine again. NOTE: I still have an issue with both JUSB connectors being used and a random stop/hang/lock-up in the bios, but that is another issue.
I have run both the Prime95 test for 9 hours with no errors and also memtest86+ with no problems either.
Either way, I hope this helps you and anyone else.

  • MSI K9N2G Neo-FD

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130182
I have been thinking about getting this motherboard to replace a fried ATX EPoX motherboard, however.. I notice on the MSI site itself that it suggests it's a Micro? On the other hand, Newegg just says ATX ... which is it exactly? Has anyone had any good experiences with this board? I'm pairing it with a Phenom

You might have looked up the K9N2GM-FD (Micro-ATX) at MSI website by misstake. The one at newegg is a variation of the K9N2G Neo (ATX) you see on the MSI Global website.

  • Problem with MSI 865P Neo and G4 Winfast

    Hi all,
I bought the mainboard MSI 865P Neo. Have put it into G4 Winfast A280 LE TDH my vivo. And the problem appeared.
When I doing whatever in Win (for example open explorer, mouse rightclick ...) the screen is simply runing over.
Seems like a video card doesn`t handle it or Screen (monitor) is poor but it`s not. The same problem appears also while Windows is installed.
Little note I want to add is my G4 has new Bios setup and on my second card Leadtek G2 MX everything`s ok. It seems for conflict between the mainboard and my v-card. Have you met similar problem ?
Would be grateful for an answer
    Best regards

On my old mainboard - ABIT ST6R (with G4) everything was ok. I changed mainboard, RAM and P4 and problem has appeared.
MSI supports AGP 8x/4x at 0.8V (AGP 3.0) or 4x at 1.5V (3.3V not supported)
If G4 needs 3.3V (I can't find G4 how much needs) that problem is obvious. I must change mainboard.
Anyone knows how much G4 poverage needs?

    Hi!
You are probably trying to run it with an FSB of 133 MHz, 700 MHz Athlons are supposed to work with a 100 MHz FSB.

I'm running MSI P965 Neo as the title says and now when I've began O/C:ing I need a better cooler than the Intel Stock Fan for my E6600. Anyone knows if you can fit a Noctua NH-U12F or Scythe Infinity 1000 without any space problems on this motherboard?

  • Msi K8N Neo with Athlon 64 3200

I just recieved the parts today 1x Msi K8N Neo Mobo and 64 3200 procesor, so far ive only been running it a few hours and allready i have had a lot of problems with it, first off the temp of my cpu is at 64oc when idol, and about 72oc on full load, I have the Coolermaster Hyper6 KHC-V81 heatsink with 2 mounted fans, and im sure thats more then enough to cool any proccessor?? Next up after restarting the computer the mouse/keyboard do not work when you get back into windows. i have no idea why tried all sorts of problems such as reinstalling drivers, Next up the board reads the default clock speed at 2.2ghz, am i wrong but isnt it meant to be 2.0ghz, both in bios and windows, it also says that my cpu has 512kb l2 cache when it is meant to have 1mb.
Needless to say i am not a happy bunny
if any1 has any ideas on what could be causing this please let me know as soon as possible before i throw my rig out the window
P.s The multiplier is on defualt, but it is 11x, isnt it soposed to be 200X 10??

As with the K8T800 board, MS products have been a thorn in the side. Try some cheap-o mouse and keyboard until you get your system stabilized. Make sure your BIOS settings accept OS2 and Plug 'n Play...turn off legacy support. Make note of all BIOS settings and which ones are enabled/disabled.....'cause we will be looking for your assistance on a lot of initial boot-up questions! Thanks very much =DNA=

  • K8T Neo and AGP ATI 9700 Pro...Video Problems!

This computer has been out of service for almost 6 months as I have replaced it with a new one. I grabed it today and loaded XP Pro on it without any problems. I have 2 monitors attached to the ATI 9700 Pro both running at 1600x1200. After configuring the new OS with updates and drivers I rebooted. This is where the problem surfaced.
    PROBLEM:
I get to the XP PRO Loading screen with the progress bar. After a few seconds, 2 revolutions from the progress bar, the screens go black and a few seconds after that the monitors go into standby due to the lack of a video signal.
    MORE INFO:
Several times when I tried to reboot, the PC would not display video at all and beep (the video error), 7 times (I think). Now this problem is not happening. Although I did get random characters all over the screen once.
I can boot into Safe Mode without any problems.
    480w Thermaltake PSU
    THEORIES:
The AGP slot is having problems changing the resolution from default to 1600x1200 for the monitors.
    NOTE:
This computer has always had problems, 99% of which were playing video games. The problems I experienced in video games were that the computer would lock-up or automatically reboot after random time intervals when playing games. The games I noticed it having the most problems with were Everquest II and World of Warcraft. I replaced this machine with a Dell and have had no problems with either application. Therefore I can rule out faulty software. At the time before replacing this machine I tested everything, Memory, Hard Drives, etc...

    = Processor Initialization
You have pretty much three options right now:
    1) Install a processor officially supported by BIOS Version 2.3 to start the system and then update your BIOS.
    2) Ask in a local computer shop or contact your reseller to do the same thing for you.
    3) Alternatively, you can try this (at your own risk, of course, and there is no guarantee that it will work):
    - Download the latest BIOS Archive: http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads/bos_exe/7375v24.zip
    - Unpack the BIOS File (A7375NMS.240) and rename it to AMIBOOT.ROM
    - Copy the AMIBOOT.ROM file to an empty floppy disk
    - hook up a floppy disk drive to your K9N2 Diamond and insert the floppy disk with AMIBOOT.ROM on it
    - hook up a PS/2 Keyboard and disconnect all hard drives, optical drives and USB Devices (and use one memory stick only)
    - Clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU
    - Start-up the system and press CTRL + Home on your PS/2 Keyboard multiple times after start-up
    - If you are lucky, the key command will trigger the AMI BIOS Recovery Routine which will attempt to read and program the AMIBOOT.ROM File on the floppy disk.
If option number 3) does not work for you, go back to 1) or 2).

  • MOVED: MSI P31 Neo and FSB/DDR ratio

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116635.0

    Hello Aacko,
the P31 Neo is a budget board that is not really designed for overclocking (notice the red PCB).  The P31 chipset supports DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 memory modules.  With a FSB-200-MHZ-CPU installed, 1:1.66 and 1:2 are exactly the ratios you need to get your RAM to 667 MHz or 800 MHz.
    Quote
Can I do something about this or should I swap P31 Neo to some P35-chipset mobo that would allow more flexible FSB/DDR ratio settings?
If you really want to overclock, you should go for a P35 Platinum or P35 Neo2-FR/FIR board.

  • MSI P35 Neo and Q8300

In the CPU support section of the MSI site for motherboard it lists the Q8200 and Q8400 but not the Q8300.
Does anyone know if this CPU is supported as it's currently cheaper than the Q8200.
    Thanks

To properly ID which P35 Neo you have what BIOS version is yours?
There are 2 different versions, one uses 2x BIOS and the other uses 1x. If yours has the 1x like my P35 Neo go by the CPU list for G33 MB and you will see it supported as of BIOS 1.9. I think the list is fouled up for both as on the P35 Neo it's missing the Q8300 and on the the G33 it's missing the Q8400. I have found far too many errors and omissions on their CPU support lists. Not to mention not having the P35 Neo with the 1x BIOS there also. Anyway the Q8300 should work OK provided you have a late enough BIOS that supports it for either version of the MB. As far as I know the only difference is speed, Q8200~2.33, Q8300~2.50, Q8400~2.66

  • PowerNow with MSI 745 Ultra and Athlon XP2600-M

Hi, i have a MSI 745 Ultra board with a XP2600-M barton processor.
Has anybody got the powernow feature to work? I have tried and i just cannot do it. Also if i want top maually set the cpu core voltage in the bios it will not go to 1.45v!
I have the latest bios, drivers and xp pro with SP2
    Cheers

Hi, thanks for the quick responses
The CPU (although a barton core) is a native native FSB 266. AXMG2600FQQ4C
i got the processor because it runs at 45W - and i wanted a low current system for bittorrent and usenet downloads. the cpu is in the epox board at the mo as it allows a 1.45v core in the bios.
i got the MSI board off ebay for a staggering 99p (bargain as its a really good board), and the processor works fine on it. I cannot remember exacety how low i can set the cpu core voltage in the bios as the cpu is back in the epox board but im sure it bottomed out at 1.5v
The latest bios i installed in the MSI board said it supported the 2600+ but the powernow just did not work.
i may get an old mobile processor like an 1800+ and see if it works with that
    Cheers
