OS? Does onboard sound is enabled in BIOS? Sound driver installed and functional properly in Device manager?

I just bought a MSI K9N2GM-FD and i'm trying to set the memory voltage but the setting remains at [Auto] and grayed out. No key seems to adjust it, is this feature disabled on this board?

Use +/- keys by the number pad.

  • MSI Z87-G45 Gaming, sound from USB mouse?

    Hi!
I have some issue from my new computer, see spec below.
For the information I have a MSI Z87-G45 motherboard.
I have some sound that occurs sometimes (specially during the first 2-5 minutes) when i move the mouse around.
It occurs as well sometimes when I been using the computer for a while, basically random just more frequently at the start-up.
It's hard to know from where the sound occurs, could be PSU but today I read something on another forum about the motherboard I'm using:
    - Higher sound quality using USB, thanks to special adapted current power.
So i wounder if this can be the case? Is that the reason why i get this noise from inside the computer?
Is there some way to disabled this "feature" in BIOS?
    Greetings

The sound sounds like the old mechanics hdd kinda.
It comes inside the computer, not the speakers.
My feelings is that it can be the PSU as well, just wanted to check this first, since it most often comes when i move my mouse.

  • MSI calls gt780 a "sound machine" but it has bad dpc latency and ground loop

Good quality sound on a laptop is governed by two things, freedom from ground loops and low DPC latency.
Ground Loop Hum: this occurs when manufacturers use poorly isolated power supplies (CHEAP POWER SUPPLIES).  How it manifests is when you plug your laptop into an external sound production system (Stereo or headphones or mixer, etc).  Well when you turn up the volume you will notice this weird humming/slightly screetching noise.  It often will change pitch as you move mouse etc.  Its a ground loop.  It comes from poor isolation and ALL PROFESSIONAL audio equipment is designed to eliminate this.  Even a cheap ghettoblaster is  But not this "sound specialized laptop."  Aweful.  You will know it is a ground loop because when you hear the noise unplug th epower supply to the laptop and Poof!  its gone.
DPC Latency  Where as ground loops will just give you poor sound output, DPC latency is a far more sinister problem for a person who is going to use a computer for professional sound.  It is related to something called an IRQ request and it occurs on laptops that are not designed to prioritize audio.
Download this tool and run it on your gt780.  http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml  You will note its mostly green but occasionally it will have red spikes.  Those red spikes represent audio drop outs so if your hope was to use this computer for professional sound capture or production (protools, abletone, cuebase).  Think again.  Those will be big "POP!!!!!"s when they occur during actual audio manipulation.
Sometimes manufacturers release firmware or drivers that help with DPC.  Lets pray but as for the ground loop.  That is not and will not go away unless they get it their hearts to use a proper power supply.  Shame on you msi for touting this as an audio laptop when its audio simply sucks crap.  Basically you threw a few loud speakers and you call it made for sound??? HARDLY.
Other then that its fast.  What a waste...

Ok, I have found out the "sleep mode" kicking in was one of the major culprits.  I dissabled that and latencies are a lot better.  No red spikes in over ten minute but not yet under any load.  If any one else is trying the program please post your results.

  • Which MSI TV card and sound troubles

    Hello all,
Hereby my first posting. Seems to be a lot of knowledge here on MSI TV-cards. I have a MSI Mega PC 180 with a TV card. I was wondering which TV-card this is, as it looks as the following: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/multimedia/mut/pro_mut_detail.php?UID=342, but it says in my configuration screen that it is a 8606. I have also mentioned that I would like to order the TV @nywhere card when I had purchased it. Can anybody tell me which card I have?
I'm asking this, because I have sound troubles with this card. I can receive TV channel images, but the sound does plok....plok....plok....plok.   So I would like to know if these beta drivers that are on this forum should help. I have tried them once, but with no success.
I do not use a sattelite receiver of VCR or anything. I'm connected through the dutch tv-cable network.
Does anybody know how to solve this?

Well, that is what it says in the Mega 180 manual, and one can hope that MSI is telling the truth.
So, go to the very top of this page, click on download and go get the latest drivers and MSIPVS for the 8606.
The card must be connected to your soundcard (even if integrated) either by the external line-out of the card to a line-in for the sound, or from the card's internal connector to one on the soundcard/mobo.
And the player (MSIPVS) must be told which input point you used (line-in, CD-in, Aux etc).

Did you connect a front panel audio header from your case to the motherboard?  If so, make sure its HDAUDIO and not AC97.  Try to disconnect to test.
Does the audio show up in Device Manager and does it have a red "X" or yellow "!"?
If the above is OK, do you get a speaker icon in Win 7 next the clock?  If so, right click on it and select Playback devices.  See if "speakers" shows up on the list.  If not, right click int he white space and tell it to show disabled devices and not connected devices.  See if speakers is listed now and highlight it and click APPLY.  Try again.
The connector for the front is HD, the Sound simply does not even appear my computer wont even detect any hardware at all !
Indeed RMA seems to be the solution here I mean at the moment I have an old UBS Sound card I got with a logitech but I would prefer a MB that does not come faulty as it were.
I was so hoping I was overlooking a BIOS setting as one of my old MB's required a selection in the BIOS if you was not using HD audio.
thanks for all the help people. hopefully the next MB will be more functional.

  • MSI anywhere master gives sound only at alternative times

    I am using winXP SP1 with DX9/ATI 9000PRO/Soundblaster 5.1 live.
When I use MSIPVS to watch TV, it gives me sound on alternative times,
e.g. It has no sound for the 1st, 3rd, 5th times when I start it  but has sound for the 2nd, 4th,6th times. In another word, if I start it without sound, next time it will have and the next time it will not have again. This is so weird.
please help, or I will have to return this card and have to pay 20% restocking fee.
    Thanks.

The model you have is not tested.
The 1600 is by MSI but only on the particular CPU they used.
As the CPU holds the memory controller and NOT the board is it possible that they don't work.
Only way to find out, test your system with AMD tested memory, then you know for sure.
Electronics is gamble and hope it works, it's not exact science.
Even the best engineer can't calculate exact values with electronics, it's all testing and hope you discover all problems.
Building a house is far easier, as you have bricks and you can calculate when they break, with electronics you hope it works...happens in 99% of all cases.
You don't want to know how much testing is done after the drawing board, and still not all issues are found...and most never will.
This is regardless of brands, it's the way electronics work, it's always an estimate of what it should do and then hoping it actually will.
That is also the reason that a lot of overclocking can be done, they leave headroom to be sure it works at specifications.
Anyway, test with AMD known working memory and you know the answer if your memory is the cause or not.

  • Msi 6378 - dead, hissing sound

    Hi,
I have only a cpu and memory plugged into my MSI-6378. (Has integrated VGA)
When I turn it on all is normal for about 15 seconds, then I hear a faint hissing sound - seems to be coming from one of the capacitors near the cpu, then the system shuts down. If I restart it the same thing happens after about 3 seconds.
I've tried a different Power supply and memory. The CPU works fine in another motherboard.
Has anyone else heard of this problem? The board is 1.5 years old so the shop I got it from doesn't want to know about it.
Is there any way to get a replacement from MSI?

  • MSI KT6 Delta-L sound problems

Hi, I have an annoying problem. My sound gets disorted and after one or two seconds I get a Blue Screen..
This only seems to happend with Operation Flashpoint Resistance and Lock On Air Combat (both uses a lot of memory). Computer is rock stabile unless this.
I have tried both Win2k/XP and flashing my BIOS to the most rescent one, as well as the drivers.. I have also tried without the PCI-cards, and disabled some features at the motherboard, but with no help.
But when I used Via AC97 drivers instead of C-Media, it crash no more (aswell as no sound drivers at all), but I have no surround sound (I suppose that driver don't support my sound chip fully)...
