MSI K9N2GM-FD unable to set memory voltage.

I just bought a MSI K9N2GM-FD and i'm trying to set the memory voltage but the setting remains at [Auto] and grayed out. No key seems to adjust it, is this feature disabled on this board?

Use +/- keys by the number pad.

  • MSI 990FXA-GD80 how to see memory voltage?

I would like to see the memory voltage set by motherboard, however neither MSI control center tool nor BIOS itself shows the selected default voltage. (the old non-graphical bios was much better in that sense in my old msi 890fx board). I just want to see what bios sets as default out of curisity, because I am using 1.25v ddr3 modules and I want to know if everything is fine.

There are programs like Si-Software Sandra, CPU-Z and a few others that show voltages....
If you are concerned that the 'Auto' SPD reading by your Bios might be setting incorrectly.. you can set you voltages manually in Bios. The Firmware reads the SPD of the memory.

  • Can't set memory or northbridge voltage

Hello, i have a MSI P35 Neo-F, and if i try to increase the memory or northbridge voltage just 0.1v, the board wont boot. I think the default vdimm voltage is 1.8 or 1.9, but my memory sticks require 2.2v. But my pc starts up fine and is stable when its 1ghz overclocked. Its weird because i looked in Dual Core Center and the memory voltage was @ 1.9v and the northbridge @ 1.25v at load, which is pretty low for a 1ghz stable overclocked system. Tried 2 different sticks but the board wouldnt boot with higher voltage with none of them. Is there a new bios or something to fix this? I havent flashed yet. It's not really a big problem, but i think i can get a higher overclock with more juice to the sticks and northbridge.

    Hello Impetus,
please provide FULL system specs.  Read the >>Posting Guide<< to get an idea of what we need to know.

If your system is stable, the voltages are fine.  Why increase voltages if there is no need to do so?

but my memory sticks require 2.2v
With JEDEC Standard Timings/Frequency no memory module should require more than 1.8-1.9V.  2.2V should only be necessary when timings are tightened to CL4.  In any case, include the brand/model/typ of you modules in your system specs, otherwise it is hard to comment on that.

  • Memory Voltage X58 Platinum

    Hi,
I recently bought 2 GTX 460's to SLI with my X58 Platinum. I have been having lock ups while gaming that sometimes include white blocks all over the screen. EVGA tech support has told me to ensure my ram timings and voltages are set correctly for the RAM I use to ensure stability. The memory model I use is OCZ3G1333LV6GK. I changed the timings to 9-9-9-20, but I was unable to change the voltage from 1.5 to the recommended 1.65. The option was greyed out and the BIOS stated that changing the voltage to 1.65 could potentially damage the cpu.
Can I/Should I find a way to force the voltage up? Is this the incorrect RAM/Mobo Combination? What do you all think?

1.65V is the absolute maximum Intel has defined for DRAM voltage.  Ignore the warning.

  • 945 neo5-f forced 2.1v memory voltage

    Hi,
I have a msi 945 neo5-f board with intel e7300 and 2*2gb crucial 800mhz 1.8v memory. Whenever I overclock the fsb to 295mhz or above, the bios sets the memory voltage to 2.1volts with no options to go below that value. At 1:1, these memories can run much above 295mhz at the rated 1.8v. Is there a way to keep the memory voltages to 1.8v when the fsb is above 294mhz? With dualcore from windows xp I can go upto 320mhz at 1.8vram without any stability issues but I want to do this from the system bios. Thanks.

Anyways I'm looking inside BIOS v12.3 with AMIBCP v3.13 at the moment trying to find a way to unlock the lower memory voltage settings at 295+ FSB.
That won't work.  First of all, you cannot simply unlock voltage settings with AMIBCP that are handled by rules like "if FSB = x, set VRAM to y".  Furthermore, if you save a BIOS File with AMIBCP, it will become corrupted.  If you flash the corrupted file, it will render your board useless.

I contacted MSI customer service over this issue a couple of weeks ago. Their response: do not overclock!
Ask them again and request a custom BIOS that turns off the Auto-Voltage-Increase.

  • Nf980 g65 memory voltage

Sitting on hold with msi waiting for some info on this motherboard. Before I order it I wanted to see the specs at which point I notice on their website that the memory voltage supported is 1.5.. 1.5? that cant be right. Anyway I had to goto work before some1 came on the line. Has anyone got this board? If so what ram are you running? I was hoping to get 8 gigs of 1333 running on it. Even if that means going down to 1066 due to memory controller limitations. Not very clear on the am3 memory controller as Im still using am2. No QVL on website or in manual either.

Take it easy, okay? I'm only trying to help you out. Your questions aren't that hard to answer.
Again: the voltage can be adjusted, of course it can. The numbers, no, I don't know them, but it will most certainly go over 2V. 2.1, 2.2 maybe. But most DDR3 RAM runs under 2.0V. For example, Ballistix (Crucial) runs on 1.8V and on 1.9 if overclocked. The bios can be set to 1.9, be sure of that.
Then QVL: What do you need that for? QVL's are for reference only. Just go for some simple value ram if you are not going to overclock the system. If you are going to overclock, go for some good quality, matched pairs. OCZ has some very good dimms with AMD-timings, so no Intel based timings. Check their website to find what you need.
Speed: you can make the dimms run on pretty high speeds. Most of the time, you can run 4 dimms, but it will make speeds drop a bit. So, from 1333 to 1066 or something like that. However, it is highly dependent on the memory controller inside the CPU. And since no cpu is 100% the same as the other, it is impossible to know in advance how the memory will work with the cpu you are going to get. But, AM3-cpu's are very stable and tolerant when it comes to timings and memory slot population.
Now, I do hope that this is some answer that you can use. If not, just say so but try to keep the nasty tone out. Thanks.

  • Unable to run Memory profiling, help please

    Hi there,
I installed the lastest version of JDeveloper 10 and created a very simple project(only have one class with Main()method) for testing purpose.
I configure the Profiler in Project Properties page, setting the class as included instance, however, all those profiling menu items(e.g.: Memory Profile...) are greyed out and I am unable to run memory profiling.
I wonder if the functions are available for the free-downloaed version of JDeveloper, or is there something wrong with my setting?
    Your help is highly appreciated.

Make sure you are positioned on the class in the application navigator before going to the "run" menu option.
Also does it work if you don't change anything in the project properties?
Here is what I did - created a new project with a simple hello class. And I didn't had any problems profiling it.
There is no function limitation on the version you downloaded.
Here is the class I tried:
    public class Class1
    public Class1()
    public static void main(String[] args)
    Class1 class1 = new Class1();
    System.out.println("hello");
    }

  • Urgent help with ORA-01062: unable to allocate memory for define buffer

    Hello, Folks!
I have a c++ code that is using OCI API that is running both in
    windows and in spark.
(The same c++ code compiled and running in both platforms)
    and asking the same query.
In windows, everything is OK but in spark
    it failes...
The ORACLE Server is installed on win2003 station
Both client and server ORACLE version is 10.2.0.1.0
The code is running on spark(oracle instant client is installed)
This query is a simple select query that selects only one field
of type VARCHAR2(4000) (the same problem with happen with any
string type field larger than 150 characters)
The error occured when calling for OCIDefineByPos method
when associating an item in a select-list with the type and output
    data buffer.
The error message is: ORA-01062: unable to allocate memory for define
    buffer
(This error message signifies that I need to use piecewise operation...)
But it happens even if I make this varchar2 field to be of size larger
    than 150.
It is not fair to use piecewise fetch for such a small fields sizes.
May be there is not configuration setting that can enlarge this
I know that I wrote here a very superficial description.
If somebody knows something about this issue, please help
    Thanks

I had a special luck today after searching the solution per weeks:)I have got a solution.
When I get the size of the oci field, in the following expressioin
    l_nResult = OCIAttrGet(l_oParam->pOCIHandle(), OCI_DTYPE_PARAM, &(orFieldMD.m_nSize), NULL, OCI_ATTR_DATA_SIZE, m_oOCIErrInfo.pOCIError());
orFieldMD.m_nSize was of type ub4 but according the manual it must be ub2.
As a result, the number returned was very large (junk?) and I passed this value to OCIDefineByPos
Now I changed the type and everything is working!!!
In windows there is not problem with this expression :)
    Thanks

  • Oracle 9i - Unable to set /PAE and /3GB Switch in Windows 2003 Server SP2

    Hi
I was wondering if anyone had any experience on Windows 2003 Server (SP2) with setting /PAE and /3GB switches.
I am unable to set both together, setting one or the other works fine in the boot.ini.
Oracle seem to think you can set both but it causes my OS to crash/become unstable.
Has anyone set both switches together on 32 bit Windows 2003 Server successfully?
I am using Oracle 9.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition.
    Thanks

The server is new. But we installed 10g before 11g was available. Then upgraded to 11g, so it is a little mess. What the oracle installer should have done in a fresh install, it is maybe not what the server has now.
I have checked for memory issues, processor issues, http errors, every EM setting and metric, and everything looks just right, but the applications are slow and the users are upset.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. Maybe we will need to re-install everything or go back to 10g on Windows 2003 Server x32. That configuration was working fine before rushing into 11g.

    Hello,
Based on the error, unable to allocate memory for mutex; resize mutex region,
have you tried increasing the mutex region?
The documentation on the setMaxMutexes method is at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/java/com/sleepycat/db/EnvironmentConfig.html#setMaxMutexes(int)
    You can run db_stat -x
to display the mutex subsystem statistics.
You'll see the information for statistics like:
    Mutex region size
The number of region locks that required waiting (0%)
    Mutex alignment
    Mutex test-and-set spins
If that does not look to be the problem, just let me know.
    Thanks,
    Sandra

  • Unable to start Memory-Based Snapshot

    Hi all
I run into a problem that I'd been trying to fix it for 2 days. I am implementing and testing the an ASCP instance. I'd finished the Standard Collection, reviewed the collected data and everything is fine. I'd defined an unconstrained plan and launched this plan. I'd checked / done the following:
    - relinked all MSC exe file in %MSC_TOP%/bin (no errors)
    - Profile option MRP:Snapshot Workers = 3, and I have set Standard Manager to 15
    - I'd checked all MSC and MRP profile options, cannot find anything special
    - I'd run adconfig to make sure the environment settings are updated and no manual changes
    - Run adadmin to make sure not invalid objects in the database
I'd another server with the same physical settings but running the VISION Demo (patched to have the same VCP level). I can launch the ASCP plan without any issue.
Can anyone tell me whether it is data issue, setting issue, hardware issue, or anything else ? Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestions. I finally able to resolve this issue.
    - I'd relink all MSC and MSO exe files. No error found. Still not unable to launch Memory-Based Snapshot.
    - I'd turned on all possible debug, trace, etc to see any possible reasons for the failure. But no help at all.
I almost created a TAR (which will need to run numerous useless checkings, talking to some clueless people, and waiting for weeks for doing nothing) and I found out I forgot to check one place - Windows Event Log. Bingo - I found the error and it's because of DLL unmatched (typical Microsoft DLL hell issue).
Using Dependent Walker to see the linking of the MSC exe file, and then I pinpointed which version of MS C++ libraries were missed. Installed the latest MS VS2005 and 2008 redistributable libraries, relinked MSC exe files again, and FINALLY it's fixed.
I need to talk to the DBA who prepare this clone to me....

Looks like the 2 extra places I can set clocks in are TRC and TRRD. This did not show a setting on CPUZ.
Leave them as is if you don't known the values.
You can get better SPD report from Everest http://www.lavalys.com:8081/beta/everestultimate_build_1519_c1fx5lkwqeb.zip

  • MSI P45 Neo2 FR need to know voltage settings.

    Hello.
Ok, I have a question about my voltage settings in the bios.
Particular for the FSB voltage and the northbridge voltage.
Can anyone tell me what the voltage settings are when they are on auto?
I have no idea in which manner to up the nb voltage to give my ram some more oc headroom.
I have 4x1 Gb team Xtreem cas3 ram i can't get it over 1000Mhz. These are D9 chips and run up to 1200Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.4v.
But this board does not seem to like it.
So any tips how to set the voltage and in which steps to increase them?
    Thanks for your time.
    Specs:
    MSI P45 Neo2 FR bios 1.1
    Intel Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz 9x400 1.47v
    Team Xtreem 4x1Gb 964Mhz 4-4-4-10 2.25v
    Sapphire HD 3870

Ok. I have tested both kits.
I have ran them both at 1100Mhz 5-5-5-15. 2.35v. Just to check again if it wasn't the ram acting up.
This was done by leaving everything on auto except CPU voltage, RAM voltage.
Now i am gonna try to get 1 kit running at 1100Mhz again but then switching to manual on the MCH settings.
Then i will pray that if i find the right setting for one kit so that if i add the other i only have to up it a notch to get it working like it should.
    Edit.
    After an hour of fiddling i can now boot 400 x9= 3.6Ghz on 1.47, 4x1Gb 1066Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.35v, MCH 1.3v.
    Thats nice.
