The thing is that i want to overclock more my CPU at least to pass over 2Ghz barrier. In the bios if i set the FSB at 223 my computer wont start now i have it at 220 and it works fine.I think there are some settings that i have to change that will allow me to pass the 2Ghz barrier
Thank you all that will answer

  • MSI K9VGM-V Boot Issues

Well I am scratching my head on this one....
So I recently replaced Gigabyte K8 S754 board with an MSI K9VGM-V, A64 X2 4000+, and 2x1GB AData Dual channel memory kit. Both boards are based on Via chipset (MSI = VIA K8M890 and VT8237A; Gigabyte = VIA K8M800 and VT8237) so I assumed that there would be no issues with the OS.
Basically, it will boot, POST, and I can navigate thru and change BIOS settings all day long, but when the WinXP splash screen comes up it immediately reboots ...no errors messages just POST, Splash, Reboot never any farther. System is pretty basic as consists of following components:
    Generic mATX case
TTGI 350W ATX PSU (P4/Athlon Ready, for whatever its worth...worked fine with A64 Clamhammer 3000+)
    MSI MS-7235 v. 1.1 mainboard (BIOS dated 10/23/07)
    A64 X2 Brisbane 4000+ Dual core 65W retail CPU
    2 x 1GB ADATA dual channel PC26400 RAM kit
1 x 80GB Hitachi SATA HDD (first boot drive)
    1 x 120GB WD1200JB ATA100 HDD
    1 x floppy drive
    1 x Liteon DVD/CDR-W
I consider myself a rather saavy technician and have tried to isolate by disconnecting everything but single SATA and nada. I suspect it is SATA driver related, but not sure how it could be given the old and new motherboard are based on practically same Via chipset.  Any tips/tricks would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I've found normally a repair of WinXP would do the trick. It's a bug in XP I think.
    Vista doesn't have that problem!
Its not a bug XP was never designed to cope with such a different hardware changes, Vista has been designed to allow for this situation.

Please give more information as asked by flobelix.
That said... install one stick of memory. Clear your CMOS. Make sure your BIOS settings are correct, and retry to boot up. If that basic test does not work.. read the posting guide, and give us all your PC equipment specs.

  • Black screen on MSI P43-C51, memory incompatible?

    Hi!
I've recently bought a new computer. Everything seems to be in good order, except when I start it I get a black screen. Disks are spinning, I hear it boot up and everything, lights seems to be in the proper places, but the screen remains black.
Searching around, users with similar problems usually seems to have memory problems, therefore I'm suspecting that's my case too. I've triple-checked that they are properly inserted.
    Specs:
    PSU: 400W Corsair
    GFX: Sapphire Radeon HD 5830 1GB DDR5
    Motherboard: MSI P43-C51
    Memory: 2x2GB Kingston 1066 MHz DDR3 CL7
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 MHz
Is the memory incompatible as I suspect, or is there any other answer? Would be thankful if you could tell me. Thank you.

Your problem could be caused by any (or several) of the following things:
    - memory problem (test each stick individually in the first memory slot, test other memory modules)
    - PSU problem (PSU defective or power connectors not hooked up properly (24 Pin ATX, 4 or 8 Pin +12V CPU, 6/8 Pin PCI-Express (video card))
    - shorting issue (test the board outside the case on a non-conducting surface in barebone configuration)
    - defective CPU
    - defective video card
    - defective motherboard (bent or broken CPU socket pins, defective sub-circuits, defective chipset components, defective voltage regulators etc.)
    - CMOS mess (--> >>Clear CMOS Guide<< )

  • MSI K9VGM-V Skt AM2 & No boot

    Hello people
I purchased an  MSI K9VGM-V Skt AM2 motherboard and a AMD Athlon 64  3200 Socket AM2.I installed all the appropriate parts by following the manuals and by wearing anti-static wristband to avoid Electrostatic discharge. When everything were in place, i powered on the pc and booted without any problems. For the First 5 minutes or so,i was in BIOS monitoring the CPU temperature, it was between 30-35 C. After that i formated my Hard drive and i installed Windows XP Prof.  When i finished i switch off the pc. The next morning problems started, when i power on the pc doesnt boot, the screen is black, the hard drive doesnt sound to spin at all, and there is no BIOS Beep noise at all. The only thing that indicates that the PC is on is the CPU fan that works.
I tested PSU, Ram sticks, Graphics card, hard drives,in my other Desktop and all are in working conditions.
    My PC specifications are
    PSU: ATX-400TD  400W   AC input 230Vac 50Hz 5A
                                            DC output +3.3V  +5V   +12V   -5V  -12V  +5Vsb

    Radeon X600 PCI-Express 256MB

It is very hard to kill a mobo, more often you buy them dead. Tedious, I know, but perhaps you should redo the installation? Making sure there are no spacers left unused between the motherboard and case, that all power cables are fastened, and such.
The processor fan spinning is really a good sign, because that means power flows through the motherboard. Long line of thinking here, but it suggests the processor is alive too.
The price normally reflects the quality and power of a PSU. Top brands are perhaps Enermax, Seasonic, PCPower&Cooling, Antec, and maybe Silverstone (but I think the latter is over-priced).
the esiest way to *KILL* a motherboard is by installing cpu wrong, i killed a 754 board around 2 years ago
    it fried!

  • MSI K9VGM-V QUESTION

    Hi guys,
I'm a new user here and I have an MSI K9VGM-V motherboard and I would like to know if a graphics card can work for this board. I want to buy an NVIDIA 9500GT video card and would like to know if this can work for the current board. I've heard that via chipsets doesn't work at all with PCI Express 2.0 cards and since this board has a 1.0a PCI Express specification, I would like to know if this card will work.
    Thanks in advance.

VIA P4M900 and K8M890 are substantially similar, basically just Intel and AMD versions of the same chipset.  AFAIK, there should not be any difference between them insofar as PCI-E graphics card compatibility.  I've tested the following PCI Express x16 cards on two different motherboards using P4M900 + VT8237A chipset:
    - GeForce 8400GS (PCI-E 1.0)
    - GeForce 9400GT (PCI-E 2.0)
    - Radeon HD 3650 (PCI-E 2.0)
Motherboards were Foxconn P4M9007MB and PC CHIPS P53G V1.0, each using the latest BIOS. While all cards were stable and completed benchmarks without error, the Radeon HD 3650 appears to be under-performing by at least 20% on both P4M900 boards, using Catalyst 8.10 and 8.11 drivers.  I haven't tested Catalyst 8.12 or any Hotfix versions, yet.
The 9400GT came with VGA BIOS v62.94.29.00.40 and was an EVGA #512-P3-N944-LR.  I would recommend you get your 9500GT from EVGA.  Even if the card doesn't ship with a compatible VGA BIOS, which is highly unlikely for any GF 9xxx series, EVGA is one of the few vendors who will supply users with a modified VGA BIOS to work on VIA chipsets.
I have a K8M890 motherboard but its an ASUS A8V-VM SE.  I plan to test the same cards on the K8M890 in a few days.

  • Msi MSI K9VGM-V & amd x2 5000 black

I have a MSI MSI K9VGM-V mother board with an AMD athlon x2 5000 black CPU.  Is it possible to overclock this chip with this board?  I know the multiplier is unlocked on this chip, but can not find anything in bios to change the multiplier.
    Thanks,
    jimmyboy1

If the board doesn't support Core Center, you can try another app like Clock Gen, or Set FSB. You will need to OC in Windows with those, but it is better than nothing if they work. And you can try raising the HTT to 232, which should be easy enough for that chip. Most will do 3G easy. Just be sure your RAM can take it...You'll be running 464Mhz, so you made need to drop to the 667 divider. Good Luck.

  • MSI K9VGM-V Help!

Hi, i just got myselfe a new computer.
    AMD 64 X2 6000+
    2 gb RAM
    500 gb HDD
    Geforce 8600 GT
    Tagan i-Xeye 420W
    MSI K9VGM-V
This works really good except that it gets really hot, so i've got myselfe a 120 mm chassifan. This is were my problem starts, when i plug the fan into the 3 pin sys_fan thing, the networks card shuts down...
I've got the newest drivers for everything except BIOS, the file from MSI Live update is corrupt. But i have a rather new bios version, like 1.6 instead of 1.8. I've reinstalled my system manny times now but nothing helps :S
    Anny suggestions?

There 2 X2 6000+ CPUs, 89W & 125W, since the 89W has not been available lately you most likely have the 125W version and it is not supported for use on that MB, 125W CPU will overload and fry the MOSFET voltage regulators for the CPU.
     >> MSI CPU support page << for your MB.
     Edit: ADX6000IAA6CZ  - 125W
            ADA6000IAA6CZ  - 89W

  • MSI K9VGM-V, BIOS changelogs?

Would someone be so kind and please explain where i could find the changelogs for the MSI K9VGM-V BIOS, also where i can download them.
most important is to find the changelogs to further track down a possible solution.
the url: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=260 doesnt really help me at all.
"Live Update" and "Live Update 3" is not an option.

    Hello and welcome!
Solution to what problem? BIOS updating should not be the first option. Also please supply a list of your hardware, including the PSU.
From googling a little I find the latest update to be 1.7. Doubt there are new updates. What do you currently have?

But could just run on Safe mode in windows(and change bios), i tryed switch the memory's and both worked on DIMM1. And when i put one of the memory's in DIMM2 it just give away Beep's.
Its my first time i build a computer so i dont know the common misstakes i could done, at last i went to MSI homepage and went to check forum and i saw someother posts about memory problems, tryed those tips out but didnt help. So now im here to ask if anyone of you know what the problem could be, could it possible be that its not dual channel memorys or CMOS or anything else? :P

  • No 4GB RAM on MSI K9VGM-V system locks up

When I install 2 2gig sticks of memory, (DDR2 667 5300 or DDR2 800 6400) my system locks up completely within 2 minutes of booting to the desktop.  When I tried running one stick of the 2 gig and 1 stick of the original 1 gig memory (DDR2 667 5300) it lasted about 45 min before locking up.
    I'm running XP home sp2

Timing was on Auto, so I changed it to manual and put it on 667.  No difference.  :(  Please help.  I'm having problems playing a game that came out with a new expansion.  Played fine with what I have until the new expansion /cry

  • Memory probs n93

apart from this one prob my phone works fine
i have 2gb but when i take a video and i go to gallery i get message "close app not enough memory" even though im not running any more apps in the background....
    can anyone help with this?

They won't bother I'm sorry to say.
They are so big, they are above the law.
Here in the UK, there is such a thing as the Sale of Goods Act. Within the act is mention of goods having to be 'fit for their purpose'. Well the N93 is sold as being more than just an instrument for telephony. If it was just this, people wouldn't pay a price which is considerably higher than the retail price of a more 'standard' cellphone. Nokia certainly make a big deal out of all the features.
Unfortunately, the N93 is not fit for it's purpose. Even as a device for making normal voice calls, it fails if it happens to crash at that time.
If I had more money, I would see Nokia in court. The company seems to think it's acceptable to sell faulty merchandise if it can later be fixed by a software update.
In this context, we're not talking about an update that will enhance a functional phone. This is an update that might render the phone useable as the problems with my phone appear to be inadequate available RAM. What adds insult to injury is that the phone doesn't simply close and reboot. It freezes and the only way of getting beyond this is by removing the battery. This hardware has surely not been designed to have the battery moved three times a day.
A more realistic description of the N93...
A smartphone with many clever features...as long as you only use one feature at a time and as long as you are happy to remove the battery after a few minutes of use and then to reboot the phone.
Don't these idiots test their phones before selling them?
If you've not got a N93 yet...don't! It is NOTHING like how you might perceive it. It is junk.
