MSI KM4AM-V CPU get hot?

My CPU get hot in st.by mode only bios running, CPU temp. 55-59degree with open door and go up to 70 when close door? I get new motherboard and CPU but have the same problem. What is wrong, is it a problem with motherboard?

This sounds more like a poorly seated heatsink, or lack of thermal paste.
You say that you had the same issue with both boards/CPU's, so that makes me think the heatsink is either not fitting correctly, or has no thermal paste/pad in place.
After putting the CPU on the second board, did you clean the heatsink, and reapply thermal paste to it? Once the heatsink has been removed, fresh thermal paste must be used.

  • [Athlon64] CPU Gets HOT

My CPU been raising up to 47C...when I start it, it is only on 33 and then it stays on 45 for a while. Now it is on 47. I am worried. Is there anything I can do?

47c is actually not a bad temperature to be at.   But if you want it lower you can try opening the side of the computer and using a fan blow directly into the computer. If this lowers your temp significantly you are suffering from bad airflow in the case. Make sure all your wires are bound together and maybe add a case fan or two.
    Good Luck

  • CPU gets hot when downloading fast over WLAN

    hi,
i noticed that after a few minutes my fans speed up to the max when i use vuze (azureus) and the download speed goes >1-1.5mb/sec. anybody has also experienced this?
    thanks.

I have only 192kbps DSL speed and the MBP used to heat up to >75C for all downloads that exceed a couple of minutes.
Using SMCFanControl, I now set the fan speed to 5k RPM prior to any lengthy download, and the temp stays below 60C even for lengthy downloads. Following the download activities, I reset the nominal fan speed to 1800.

  • FileStatsAgent process bug? (more then 90% CPU and Mac gets hot)

Whats FileStatsAgent? It takes more then 90% of CPU-Power. My Mac-Book Pro gets hot and i have to kill the process by my own every time. Tried reinstall and clean install, nothing works. never had this issue when using T, SL, L, ML..

    Hello,
According to the man page, FileStatsAgent "collect file stats."  Open Activity Monitor and get info on the FileStatsAgent process.  Open the "Open Files and Ports" tab and there will likely be a music file that the process is hanging on.
In another thread, Dave determined that the MP3 file it was hung up on was corrupted by using a program called MP3 Scan + Repair. Deleting the offending file solved the issue for many of us.
    Hopefully this solves your problem!

  • Cpu gets damn hot .help plz

45-50 degrees in idle  ... atleast the bios says so .....
which program can i measure it inside windows with ?  and with full load
or can these things happen concerning i got low power in my system already ?
cpu gets spiky power or something ?   i have ordered a new power soruce  (thx for the help with picking out a good one   danny)
so got any suggestions on it ?  i believe thats the issue of my comp shutting itself down when i do anything that uses lots of power

As ThereforeTherefore said, that temperature is not out of line when viewing it in the bios. The bios is old code from the DOS days and doesn't have an idle mode.
Use SpeedFan (see link in my signature) for monitoring. Remember too that your ambient temperature makes a big difference. Right now I am idleing at 37C, but if I close my door and let the room warm up I go to 40, and in the summer I idle around 43.

  • MSI's Unlock CPU Core Technology

Core unlocking of AMD processor has been a very hot topic of forum discussion. The possibility of spending a mere $100 dollars for a Phenom II X2/X3 CPU and unlocking the disabled cores to yield a $200 dollars Phenom II X4 is exactly like the goal of every overclocker around .Due to this demand, MSI official introduce the exclusive technology of Unlock CPU Core.
MSI’s Unlock CPU Core technology became available with the introduction of AMD Phenom II CPU series. No matter dual-core, triple-core or quad-core, all fall into the same series, and the only difference in number of cores is the difference in normal operation. However, MSI has since offered a BIOS capable of taking advantage of the Unlock CPU Core ability in order to offer its customers an even better user experience. Simply by enabling the related function, users can easily activate concealed core(s). Additionally, in order to prevent any instability from activating the concealed core, MSI’s Unlock CPU Core technology can be turned both off and on, so the user can decide whether to overclock a single-core or run a multi-core setup.
[The Benefit of Unlock CPU Core]
    • With the same price, one can get an even better performance
    • The cost-performance ratio instantly increases 70% at least.
    • Just turn on this function, unlock CPU Core for freely
[How to Use MSI's Unlock CPU Core Technology]
STEP 1: Enter the Cell Menu option list in the BIOS
STEP 2: Enable the Unlock CPU Core function
STEP 3: Enable the ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) function, and, at this time, you will see the originally two core list will become a four core list with the options of enabling/disabling any of Core 2
At this time, though Core 1 cannot be disabled, all other cores have the options of being enabled/disabled, but should any of the cores be unstable, the user may be unable to start his/her O/S, and the system may even crash.
STEP 5: If the cores are unlocked successfully, the user may try entering the system information and discover that what was first a dual-core CPU has grown to a quad-core , and the performance has highly increased.

Could be the option is missing because your CPU hasn't got a 4th core?
    I don't know, just guessing.
Im not sure either, but there are reports outthere that say that AMD is lasercutting the extra cores on the X2/X3 range, because of the unlocking of them.
So they physically remove any connections to other cores or the core itself and thus you cant unlock it, cause they rendered it useless and/or its not there anymore.
This has to do with the fact that most of the cores that are disabled are flawed.
Dunno if thats the case with your for sure though, you might get lucky and get the extra core to run, but there is NO guarantee it will work flawlessly.

  • MSI RS480M2-IL + cpu temps

I would like to know the temps of ppl who have this board and their cpu and how they monitor their temps in Windows.
I just set up a 3000+ venice w/ stock cooling, MSI RS480M2-IL, 1 gb valueselect ram, 120gb Samsung SATA and I have temps of 47C-50C idle even with open case with ambient temps of 27C. Is this normal? The case temps are ok, around 33C.
i have done prime95 stress test for 10+ hrs 2x and it never crashed once. then i put an alcohol thermometer at the top of the heatsink at it only rose to 35C at 100% load.
    Thanks

Same problem with my 3000+ E3 venice ...right now 59C, but what bothers me is the 124C "Motherboard AUX" temp I get from both Speedfan and SystemTool... I guess this is the northbridge?  I removed the black aluminum "Radeon X200 XPRESS" labeled cooler and lapped it. It was CONVEX!.... the plastic outer parts of the chip are even higher than the metal circle in the middle, so it wasn't making good contact with the chip, not to mention the half-application of the stock thermal paste. After lapping and reinstalling with Ceramiqe, the heatsink is MUCH hotter -a good thing, but I need to change out the stock AMD cooler to something that will also cool the northbridge heatsink and the backside video card ram.
I think the early Venice cores have a high temp bug that only READ hot.  I don't think the CPU is hot.  I had a flat temp sensor under the CPU cooler in the little gap that the plastic socket makes. I can't remember the temp ever reaching 40C. I did some case-modding since then, so I pulled it out for disassembly.  I'll put it back in when I change the CPU cooler.
Still, what bothers me about this mobo is the lack of OC'ing and the strange temps and volts (Speedfan reads 15.4V on +12V -only once did it read 11.5V) -No other voltages available besides 3.3V rail.  I don't know what voltage the DIMM runs at. Anybody?
I just checked the 12V rail with my multimeter:
With only a 275w Enermax PSU ...but 20A on 12V rail, thank God, and with a modded X800 Pro installed I still have a STEADY 12.11V!!! (Speedfan 4.26 still reading 15.44V)
I hope this eases some minds out there just a little...  -Ivan

  • Why does my macbook pro get hot

Why does my Macbook pro get hot while I am only on my email account?  This is a recent change.  It gets too hot too put in my lap.  Is it a battery issue.

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.

  • I have a new Mac Pro and it seems to get hot...why?

I'm new to Apple products and I have a MacBook Pro and it seems to get very hot.  Am I doing something wrong with it?

Stedman.....I did that and under the temps., it would change as I watched it.  This is what I read most often.  Not sure if this is what you meant:
    HD Macintosh    33
    CPU    48
    CPU Heatsink 4   1
    Enclosure Base    34
    Enclosure Base 2    34
    Enclosure Base 3     33
    CPU (again???)    43
    CPU Diode     23
Not sure if that's the info you asked for?  I've only had this several weeks and I notice it getting hot at times.
Also, when I plug in the batter charger, it changes back and forth orange/green....
I know I need serious help with this..I truly appreciate your reply. Jo

  • My macbook is getting hot pretty quickly. What are the possible causes?  How can I tell if it is mechanical vs. dust?

My Macbook Pro is getting hot pretty quickly. What are the possible causes?  I have had the machine about 3 years.

  • I know you can't "turn off" tv but its getting hot in standby..

    Hi
I know you can't "turn off" tv but its getting hot in standby, I havent used it all day, and the top is still really warm. I know this is the heat sink, but why is it getting so hot when in standby and doing nothing, for many hours?
To turn off I realise will have to switch off at mains. Is this recommended? when should I do it? when not syncing and in standby?
I'm a little worried by how hot it is, when never used for about 48 hours and in standby
    cheers

........ leaving it on 24/7 doesnt cost that mch though does it?
All depends on how much your electricity costs, at 10 p/c per kilowatt/hour, your tv using around 18 W in stand-by will cost you about 30 1/4 p/c a week.
If cost is a factor for you then consider switching it off overnight, don't however worry too much about the heat. It may appear to run hot because of its unusual heat dissipation, however if you were to place your hand on the heat sync surrounding your cpu on your mac/pc, you'd likely realise comparatively the tv isn't excessively warm. (The CPU's in my mac are currently running at 44-56 C for example)
I don't particularly see much wrong in turning the unit off from time to time, (although I'm not sure I like the idea of not knowing if the HDD is writing at the time) assuming it isn't excessive. Excessive switching is not good for most devices since strain on mechanical parts and stress caused to electrical components due to large temperature variations can lead to early failure.

  • Hi everybody , i want to buy macbook pro retina but i wonder if he make noise or get hot ?

hi everybody , i want to buy macbook pro retina but i wonder if he make noise or get hot ? i don't use game or heavy program.

The only 'noise maker on a retina MBP are the fans.  The will speed up if there is a need to dissipate heat.
The MBP will become hot if CPU/GPU intensive applications are in use.  That is expected and normal.
    Ciao.

  • How can I avoid to get hot my Mac when i use Windows an Revit 2013 app.?

I' m a Arquitecture Student, and I should use Revit and this application is just for windows, an autorized apple technician Install windows, when I use the app Revit, after 20 to 30 minuts, my mac strart to get hot, and I can keep working. Stop and the start again.  Is it possible that I don't have enoug graphic memory assigned, or video memory.  Thnks for your help

Revit must be using the discrete graphics and possibly a fair amount of cpu as well.  This has nothing to do with memory or memory allocation (which you can't do on a mac since it doesn't use shared memory like some low-end PCs do.  Getting hot is not a problem as long as the fans speed up to increase the cooling.  If the system is overheating, it will shut down on its own.

  • My 4s sudenly getting hot

About an hour ago my 4s (os 7.1.2) sudenly getting hot. at the time i'm  sleeping . I ussaly took my 4s near me and inadvertently touch by me. My iphone is very hot maybe about 50-60 degree celcius last i see my iphone have 98% battries and when is getting hot my iphone battries is only 35 ( from my last to when te iphone getting hot about 4-5 hour ). I'm affraid that the iphone  can damage the hardware because is very hot i'm shut down my 4s. have everyone ever had this experienced like this or someone please tell me maybe some of my part is defects ? Thanks alot sory for my bad english

before that try some simple stuff, download an app called "system status" that will allow you to check your CPU % if it is running high during idle/standby/usage. maybe a rogue app continuing to run
PS. the CPU should average  90% and higher while just "idle", and when "usage" from 1.2% TO 11% give or take(mine goes 3.2% to 8.3% to 5.3% and that's while running Pandora, Also the load per 1,5,15 minutes should be minimally small between .50 to 1.05)
