MSI KT333 crashes in 3D games

Hi!
My system keeps crashing in 3D games or acts very slow after having played one. I recently switched mobo from an old Asus A7V133 to a new MSI KT333 but I didnt reinstall XP in between. Any suggestions? I have already installed latest Via drivers/Nvidia drivers but nothing changed (dont think its the infinite loop thingy). The cpu temp is between 36-42 degrees Celsius (I use and Arctic Cooler II as fan + 2 system fans).
My setup is:
AMD XP 1800
512 mb DDR 333
MSI KT333 Ultra 2
Geforce 3 Ti200 128 mb DDR
Windows XP
300 Watt power supply

yeap, reinstall windows xp from zero, cause you changed from KT133 to KT333 chipset.. windows xp doesnt take take well spawing from one motherboard to another (been there)
if crashes still happens, then we must troubleshoot---

  • System crashes when installing games via DVD Writer

When installing multi-disk games / programs pc freezes after putting in second disk - I have tried various other optical drives (IBM 8x CDROM - Pioneer 107 and of course NEC3500) but I have no joy - system just hangs and requires a power off/on to restart.
Tried SATA hard drive but still same problem - tried different cpu 2.8 Northwood - but still no joy.
It does not crash all the time and the games that are on it work fine for any length of time - I have PC alert installed and CPU and system temperature dont go above 51 C
I have installed the games on another pc and they work fine so its not the disks.
    please help

Hmm, I hope you fixed your problem regarding installation..and maybe the freezing now is a totally seperate problem?  Honestly, at this point...I would reformat everything, even update the BIOS if you haven't done so already.  This time though, I wouldn't install anything except the bare essentials (WinXP w/o SP2...vid and sound drivers....no MSI extras)  Then install a game or two and test out your crashing then.
I know it's a pain to reformat...but when things get rough, you reformat!
    Good luck!

  • Random resets with a kt3 ultra and a MSI GF3 ti200 in 3d games

Im having random resets with a kt3 ultra and a MSI GF3 ti200 in 3d games; namely Mafia and Bf1942. Ive tried new drivers for the video card, checked the cpu temp, and bios settings. Any ideas on how to fix it or is their a compatibility problem with the mobo and the video card?

I found my 6380 v2.0 mobo liked 1 brand of ram more than other.I only run crucial, kingston or muskin(micron chips)ram.Put all bios settings to defaults & try only 1 stick(1 brand) of ram at a time.I also found my gf3 ti 200 & 500 liked certain versions of drivers over others. It would crash on some.Try original cd install drivers that came w/  vid :D  card.Try running 3d mark 2k1 bencmarks to test all drivers & ram.

  • MSI Gx633 Hanging while playing game.

    Good Day,
I would like to ask whether there are fellow gx633 users who are experiencing the same thing and what steps have you taken?
i bought this gx633 last October and had problem since then. The whole laptop would hang after playing the game for some time with the timing before it hangs varying between 15minutes to 4hours.
incidentally, the laptop seems to run at 100% CPU once the game is initiated with the process taking up the cpu% alternating randomly.
i have run a scan using Malwarebyte antivirus and it showed no infected file. i have also tried updating the gfx driver, getting a strong fan/ laptop cooler for the laptop and all does not seem to work.
i have pretty much given up on sending the laptop for checking because i had it sent at least 5 times and they always told me that there are no issues discovered. at the 5th time, they decided to replace the gx633 with another gx633 and this is the one i am using now with the same aforementioned problems.
the worst thing is i cant seem to see the problem because i use speedfan sometimes to see the temperature and it hardly goes beyond 80 degrees. usually hovers around 76. and it sometimes hang right after the temperature check.
other observations include that of clicking or buzzing sound on the speakers when moving the mouse or cursor across the page and that the laptop cooler would start running once i on the AC power before even booting up the com.
i am writing this as a last resort as i may soon discard this laptop which seems to be the most waste of money that i had ever spent. (after getting this laptop which was a replacement for the previous one and getting the same problem, i called up local msi and they told me that they would forward the matter to hq and get back to me when there is a resolution. - this was back in december last year. perhaps you see why i am already on the verge of giving up)
on  a side note, i was playing cabal online which is hardly a demanding game and i doubt the gx633 can do justice to the title "gaming laptop" if it can not even play this game.
if you have any input, kindly advise me on the matter. thank you.

Hi. Thank you for youre reply.
I was running on Windows Vista home premium 32bit and i updated all the drivers given in the msi website.
I did not use the turbo mode at all during the crashes.
A little update, i sent it back to msi to have a look and they said that it was probably due to a faulty mainboard so they replaced it.
they also suggested to reinstal the OS so i decided to purchase a Window7 Home premium and did a custom instalation since they said that the faulty mainboard could have corrupted the OS.
the result is that after instaling the Windows7 Home Premium 32bits and updating all the drivers for Window7 from the msi website, i ran the game again and this time it hangs in under one hour. ( not sure of exact timing because i left the game running and went to do some work on my other laptop)
from the other threads it seems to point towards the gpu but when i sent it in they said that they did a stress test so i am not sure now what i should do. i am thinking of sending it in tomorrow to have them run a final check but i really wonder what caused this because it seems that the gx630 623 and even 7 series are running into this issue of black screen during gaming.
thank you for you kind attention.

  • MSI KT333 raid and athlon 700 (is it possible)?

i have bought and msi KT333 raid motherboard and i tried to put and athlon 700 in it but when it tries to boot up is says that the processor runs at 933 and after that it freezes i can not even go into the biios
    what can it be

    Hi!
You are probably trying to run it with an FSB of 133 MHz, 700 MHz Athlons are supposed to work with a 100 MHz FSB.

  • 2.2 crashed During palying game

my new 2.2 OS has been crashed during playing game and the game is a free app from app store. I am so confused, I do not remember even the name of the game. I'v tried to restore my phone but Itunes has stopped at "restore iphone software". please somebody help me!
my phone is 8G 1.1.4 updated to 2.2

I normally get this sort of crash during crop and rotate actions - which I was doing prior to switching to the clone brush.
So, my guess would be that the Crop/Rotate tool is still the culprit and does something to Lightroom's stability. I would guesstimate that I've had 15-25 crop rotate crashes in LR 2.0, 2.1rc1 and 2.1 combined.

  • Flash Crashes in Online Games

    Hi,
I would love to get help with why flash 11.5.502.146 keeps crashing when playing games online.
I use the browser Mozilla Firefox version 18.0.1
    Have Windows XP 32bit
Clear cookies and history each time before I close firefox
This now happens where after you do one action I either get a white frozen screen where I have to use
ctrl+alt+delete as this is the only way I can get out of it.
I have a few times used in the manager used switch so I can refresh the game
On using this I have been sending flash crash reports every 3 or 4 minutes
I can then reload the game, but it is happening all too frequesntly.
What am I not doing to stop these crashes?
Thank you for any help you may be able to give me to stop this happening

I'm sorry you're going through this.  I suspect you're running into a conflict with our Protected Mode which was introduced in Flash Player 11.4.  Please try the troubleshooting steps outlined in this FAQ:
How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
In particular, I'd recommend temporarily disabling protected mode (for troubleshooting purposes only) to see if that addresses the issue.
    Thanks,

  • MSI KT333 Ultra2-R & XP1800+ (Can't get to 1.5ghz) Help!

    I'm hoping someone can help.
    I have the:
    MSI KT333 Ultra2-R Mainboard
    Athlon XP1800+ Processor
128 MB DDR ECC 2100 Ram
    3DFX Voodoo5 5500 65MB SGRAM AGP Video Card
    Onboard USB 2.0
    Onboard AC97' Sound
    2 Maxtor 17 Gigs
    1 WD 30 Gig
    Lite On 40x12x48x CDRW
    Zip 100 Internal
    Enlight 250w Case
My problem which is EXTREMELY annoying is the fact that I can't get my CPU to clock at it's rated 1.5 ghz.
It clocks at a measly 1100 mhz.
    I have tried:
Leaving the FSB at 100 (default) and increasing the Multiplier.
Increasing FSB to 133 and leaving multiplier to Auto, and all combinations to get 1500 mhz between the FSB and Multiplier settings- I've also tried 1200 mhz slowly upwards - even that doesn't work!!
I've also tried increasing core voltage...to no avail.
    What happens?
In most cases the PC will start and upon going to WinXP either freeze or reboot. In many cases the PC will also hang on or before boot or turn off almost instantaneously. I doubt very highly that it's overheating because my max temp right now is 32c. I have the CoolerMaster HC001 Heatpipe Heatsink with Arctic Silver paste PERFECTLY spread.
What do I do? I don't know if it's the CPU or me. It's so bad I've even oced a duron I have to more mhz than I can do with the XP.
For clarification - I'm not even trying to OC the XP, I'm trying to get it to it's rated clock of 1.53 ghz.
I'm really hoping someone can help.
My clock speed right now is 1153 mhz, that is 11.5x100.
Do you think it could be because of the 250w PS?
I'll be replacing it soon with a 320w - for now I'm stuck with it.
    Help?
    Thanks in Advance.
If you have an XP1800 could you also post me your EXACT settings to the T?
    Thank You Again....

     ;(  I have got the same problem I have got a kt3 ultra2
    ms-6380e athlon 2000+xp and a 550w power supply...
I can only get 1.250 ghz out of mine it should get about 1.667 its not the cooling because i have a monster of cooler on the chip with two extra fans blowing in the case and a heat exhaust blowing hot air out the back with the side off the temp of cpu is about 32 'c... I run mine with a 100mhz fsb 12.5 ratio if I change to 133 fsb it locks up and i have to clear c-mos....its got to be a bios problem that has yet to be sorted because there seems to be a lot of people with the same problem..... ?

  • MSI KT333 Ultra2-R and G550 whackyness

ok so there has been about 36 hours of technical nightmares which comes down to this: i have likely stumbled onto a bizarre incompatibility. i installed XP Professional Corporate with SP1 a total of 6 times up until 3 something in the morning (on the upside my system does such in 5 minutes after formating) due to what appears to be a driver issue not a hardware failure. after installing the motherboard chipset (VIA KT333) drivers and then the video card (Matrox G550) drivers sometime thereafter at random points the screen would go black and XP would report a hardware failure and my video display would go to what appeared to be lesser than 640x480 @ 8 colors yet after rebooting things would be peachy keen. i even tried one step back on the VIA drivers and G550's with no fix. the 7th OS install was WIN2K Pro and with the same drivers at the start of this (the current from both parties) there's been no issue (benchmarks were ran for 9 hours straight using PCMark, 3DMark and Sandra). yep it's pretty clear that friday is going to involved calls to Matrox, MSI, and if possible VIA..

After all you've tried, Dah*veed is probably right about needing warranty assistance.
But first check to be sure Settings-Airplane Mode is set to OFF, and Settings-WiFi-WiFi is set to ON.
Try unplugging your WiFi router for a few seconds.  Then reset the iPad's network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect to your WiFi.

  • (bootcamp) graphics card crash when playing games

Firstly apologies if I've put this in the wrong section of the forum... this is the most applicable I could find.
Having tried to enquire at the good folks of AMD, they told me I needed to see apple. Finding a support email is nigh on impossile - so either that or advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
I have a boot camp partition on a mid 2011 macbook pro - my graphics card is Radeon HD 6750M.
I have recently been experiencing graphics card crashes when playing games.
There is no boot camp update available, so I am forced to update the driver manually. Trying to use the automated detection/installation tool on the ATI site resulted in the error "your computer doesn't have a proper graphics adapter"
When I located and downloaded the mac bootcamp drivers from the ATI site site, and I tried to install these it was unable to detect my existing microsoft C++ distributable or install its own - so the installation failed.
    All advice welcome!

yeah - it *might* have fixed my issue - or at least it hasn't crashed yet... jynxed it now ofcourse ;p I have acouple of questions though...
Why did this just start happening - I've played other games and this game before without these crashing issues?
I'm worried about configuring this fan thing correctly - lots of 'if your hardware gets damages it's not my problem' warnings on the software site. I know there's only 4 options - how do I ensure I select the right one? ie I thought I had a unibody macbook pro but it can't find the second GPU?

  • MSI GeForceFX 5700LE crashes during 3D game-play

i've been getting this problem since 3 days ago when I upgraded to this MSI GeforceFX 5700LE TD256,the system runs quite well under normal condition, that is,when no 3d game is running. once I start running any 3D games for like 3 minutes or less, the sytem crashes and I have to reset it, I tried the same game with my onBoard VGA card and there's no problem.
Mainboard: MSI 865GM2-LS,with updated BIOS and Intel INF
    VGA: MSI GeforceFX 5700LE TD256
    CPU: Intel P4 2.8G
I've also got a creative live! 5.1 sound card,a firewire PCI card,a PCI TV adapter,a maxtor 80G harddisk and a TDK CDRW
    There're 3 case fans.
PSU is an Antech rated 350W max.output
    Here're what i've tried:
1.Plugged out all PCI cards and case fans only left with the VGA card, the sound card, the harddisk and the CDRW,and updated to the newest VGA driver, mainboard BIOS, and increase the AGP slot voltage to 1.6V, no luck
2.Adjust the memory clock,3d clock,2d clock to its min. value, the original value's 400,250,225 respetively,I changed 'em all to 200, now the system runs OK, but since 400,250,225 is the original value for the card, I dont understand why it doesnt work with that clocking.
Since I'm using an Antech PSU, and I tried to plug everything out, so I dont really think there's a problem with my PSU,though it gets a bit hot sometimes.
Can anybody figure out what's wrong? Thanks~~

  • MSI GT60 0NE-404US all games crash after 10 minutes of play?

Hi I've just recently purchased a MSI GT60 0NE-404US with gtx680m 4g video card, i7 3630m CPU and 12g of ram. I took it home and ran a few games on it, all of them after basically 10 minutes the game will crash and something along the lines of "the graphic driver has crashed and restarted". I've tried updating my video driver to the latest and rerolled to older drivers, none of that worked. I've used hardware monitor and tried to see the GPU temperature, they seem to be running at 50-60 degrees celsius if I turn the turbo fan on. I've tried running some benchmarking software to test out the stability of the 3d graphics but the same problem occurs. it looks like it's a drivers problem but I've tried all types of drivers and none of them worked.
Does anybody have any similar issues? This is a brandnew laptop and things like this shouldn't happen.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Nichrome gives some good advice. I'd follow his steps first but...
I kinda get the feeling that your video card is not any good and it's what is causing the issues. The fact that you've tried a few different driver revisions and it's crashing doing anything stressful seems to indicate that as well.
Most likely you'll need to contact MSI to do an RMA in the end.

What PSU are you using ? Can you list the power output ? (writen on side of psu)
Going from your specs you listed your graphics card is very hungery on power so I would suggest your psu isn't up to the job under load.
Post the spec and we will know for sure.
