MSI KT4ULTRA-SR SATA Problem

Ok, I spent most of yesterday fighting with this, called MSI Tech (no call back yet) so I'll try here.  I just recieved my 200G Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA drive today and tried to install it.  Needless to say, I failed miserably.  The option in the bios for enabling the SATA RAID kept appearing and disapearing.  So I tried reverting back to Bios v1.3 (was using 1.4) and that didn't help.  Tried removing all PCI cards except for my Radeon 9700 PRO and that didn't help.  The few times I did get it to enable, no Raid Bios posted to get in via CRTL-F.  On the final post screen prior to windows boot I did see it get assigned an IRQ but once in Windows XP SP2, no new device was found.  I'm beginning to think this is a Motherboard issue and possibly my Promise controller or bios is being flakey.  Is there any way to update the Promise Bios on the KT4ULTRA-SR or is it part of the main bios?
System Specs:
Athlon XP-M 2400+
512MB Crucial PC2700
IBM 120G (Master IDE 0)
Seagate 10G (Slave IDE 0)
Liteon 16x DVD (Master IDE 1)
Plextor DVD+-R (Slave IDE 1)
Seagate 200G 7200.7 (SATA 0/1)
Radeon 9700PRO
MSI  TV@nywhere Master
Adaptec 2940UW
ASOUND 4 Port PCI SWITCH (AMDTEK chip, Tried replacing also with Linksys 10/100 PCI nic)
Any help would be appreciated.

Well,
First, you need to reread my post.
Second, I have a 475W Thermaltake Butterfly PS so I have plenty of power.
Third, I already know I have to create a single drive array, but the problem is I cann't.  The option for enabling SATA RAID in the bios is Missing (Once in a while it may show up).  When it does fiinally show up and I'm able to enable it, I never get the Promise Bios screen except maybe for a couple times.  I've rebooted this machine over 100 times...     I've tried removing and reseating the Ram, disconecting the ATX Power and reconnecting, Removing all PCI cards, reflashing the bios with still the same results.

  • MSI KT4Ultra FIS2R Lan problem

I got an MSI KT4Ultra FIS2R, with an optional GB Ethernet (Broadcom 5xxx).
When I enter the integrated peripherals menu in the BIOS, the LAN device is not shown, and when Windows starts, the LAN device is not shown in the Device manager window.
It is worked fine ~3 weeks before, and it simply stops, and hides...
Why? I bought a GB Lan card, and it is works fine, but it takes a lot of money, and the onboard lan must works, doesn't it?
I flashed the BIOS, with older/newer one, but it doesn't solve my problem.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

    Hi There
    I Have Build a system including Msi X99 MPOWER, intel i7 5820k, corsair hydro h100i, Corsair AXi860, 2x8 gb kit crucial ballistic sport ddr4 2400, Samsung 840 evo 250gb.
The system post normaly and i can access bios if nothing is connected to sata ports. As soon as i connect a hard disk or a dvd player the motherboard won't post and i have the a led error code "00". The next step was to update bios to version 22.3 with a usb which was successful but the problem remains. I have tried to clear cmos, different sata cables, sata hard drives,  memory sticks and power supply but the problem remains. Is there a possibility to fix this with an future bios update or should i RMA it?

    Hi there
"have you tried to take mainboard out of PC case and to place it over non conductive surface?"
It didn't make any difference taking the motherboard out of the PC Case.
"Which SATA port did you use to plug the HDD and DVD?"
Initially i tried 1st and 2nd SATA port but i also tried the rest of them.
"you cannot see the device even under bios setuP?"
    ok There are two cases
1st Case No SATA disks connected.
I switch on the power supply and press power button of the motherboard, the system post normally and i can access bios if nothing is connected to SATA ports,
2nd Case WITH SATA disks Connected
I switch on the power supply and press power button i get "error code 00" the motherboard won't post.
Then if i press the power button to shutdown and then power on again then the system post normally and it recognize the hard disk and DVD and i can install windows. It seems that the sata controllers cannot initialize the first time the motherboard is powered up by the power supply

  • MSI Diamond Plus - SATA problem

    Hello,
I have a MSI Diamond Plus board.  About 3 weeks ago my old OCZ 520ADJ power supply failed.  I RMA'd it and received a 600 ModXtreme back.  After hooking it up I am no longer able to use the four nForce4 SATA ports connected through the nvidia chipset.  I am still able to use the 2 from SIL.  Please any advice would be really helpful!  When I plug any device ( 3 HD's 1 DVD/CD Rom ) into any of the nvidia supplied ports they are not detected by the BIOS.

  • SATA Problems (Money to anyone that helps!)

Ok ladies and gents! I will seriously PayPal some cash to the person that helps me solve this one!
Just got myself a new setup....
    MSI K7N2-ILSR Motherboard
    AMD XP Barton 3200
    512MB Kingson Hyper-X DDR 3200
    Samsung 120GB SATA 133 HDD
Thermaltake Subzero 4G Peltier Cooling System
    Wavemaster Aluminium Case
    The problem is this....
If i plug in the SATA HDD into the SATA-0 motherboard connector and boot up the PC, when it gets to the Promise bios where it should be asking me to do a control-f to set up an array, the PC just hangs. Its just stuck on that screen and it does nothing!
I have no idea why this might be, thought it might be a power issue (have a 350W PSU, but it was cheap - £25) and it didnt have a SATA power connector so I had to use an adapter. Could this be it????
I have had to temporarily plug in an IDE 20GB thing and install XP on that - and the system works fine....its just this SATA problem.
So - anyone if anyone can spare some time to sort this problem out it would be much appreciated! I know theres probably loads of posts like this - but I can be bothered to trawl through trying everything!
    Help Meeeeee!

Just bought k7N2-Delta board, not the G one. Have two SATA 120GB of differing brands and NONE would ever detect one SER1 on the board. No problem if you want to only use one drive, plug it into SER2, but if you want to use 2, no go. It was funny though because i could boot of SER2, stick a drive on SER1, FAstrack would not detect it but windows would, VERY STRANGE!!!!.
Took your advice and flashed to lumberjacks modded bios and WHALLAH, can see drives on both SATA connectors.
So board is good but MSI bios upgrade support is somewhat c#$p. BTW this board rocks.
Modded bios is much more stable too than the MSI one, amazing really because I was totally suspect on modded bioses b4, but now understand why people do it.
CMON MSI pick up your act, get the promise bios into this board that is as good or better than lumberjacks sterling effort. employ him or something you fools.
ANYWAY, happy days because now my board rocks and is the heart of a gaming weapon

  • MSI 649Neo-V SATA ports compatibity

    Hi!
Is the DVD/RW plextor 712SA (sata), fully compatible with the MSI 649Neo-V SATA ports ?
I'm unable to boot my PC on a CD or DVD with this material.
I've tried with IDE interface and a similar product DVD/RW and this one is booting perfectly.
    Anyone have an idea ?
    Greats thanks,
     a poor worry frenchman
    In French Language
    Bonjour,

the option "Set Optimized Settings" is not present in this amibios. Only the two items in the above message, directly in the SATA folder.
I've found on the Plextor official internet site and forum, a notice where it is not exlude the incompatibility with some motherboards. any list is provided.
My second problem is identified : PCI 3.2 is not necessary full compatible with PCI 1.x. Only if the motherboard manufacturer has decided to assume the supplementary financial cost. Then, a low cost motherboard ....
    Thanks for your help !
I've the problem arounded by using an old intel motherboard (PCY915) and since, any problems, boot eiher sata nop.
The 649Neo will works with another configuration, SATA only HD, and Ide DVD/RW , no boot problems !

    First post, whoo hooo
So what version of BIOS are u running?  I recently installed the two newest versions 2.0 and 2.1, and they both give me problems.  With the latest (2.1) I'm getting the same error as you.  Returning back to previous BIOS fixed my problems.  Oh yeah, my RAM is Kingston Hyper-X, so i don't think thats your problem.
Let me know if you fix it, thats why im here, .

  • Power of the Press - MSI Neo4 SLI Bios Problem

For those interested, I just sent this to hardocp because they did the review on the MSI SLI Platinum.  Since MSI headlines this review on their website, maybe hardocp can do something about this bios problem.  Enjoy and please send more emails to hardocp so we can get this problem addressed!  Believe me, Ive seen this works with washington politicians, I know it can work if we all do it.
I appreciate companies like yours doing extensive reviews about products.  However, your review caused me and a whole bunch of others to purchase this board with enormous problems associated with it (check out the msi forums).  The problem is that this board works only for 130nm chips in which you tested on.  On the newer amd 90nm chips, this board is the worst performing sli board out in the marketplace (for both winni and venice core chips).  You need to do something to stop people from buying this board because its just awful and the folks from MSI are silent on the subject.
It's gotten so bad that people have gone out and purchased other sli boards, transferred all of the equipment out of it and into the new one and guess what...voila, no problems.  Anyway, some of those in the other user forums had the same problem but those other manufacturers quickly fixed the problem.  Its just getting worse and worse.  I feel like both msi (and I am MAD) and reviewers like you (unless you don't know about the problem) are silent on this and its cost me hard earned MONEY ($175 for the mobo) and hours and hours of time...
You have a LOT OF POWER with MSI and I can see it because they headline your review on their website (power of the press).   For Gods sake, please do something before others make the same mistake or if you can get MSI to allocate resources to fix the problem...you would be HEROs!  Thank you.

Ok, I guess I am confused some, where is the issue with the new cores? I have no issues running the San Diego core and the my memory at the listed and published speeds.....
    Quote
Also is your MOBO the SLI type? I run the SLI Neo4 with a San Diego core without any issues. In fact I dropped it in and booted using the San Diego as a direct replacement for a older (if 6 months is old!!) 3500. I have OC'ed with Corecetner as far as I can push it and runs awesome!
    Quote
GUys, I am not sure exactly what issues you are experiencing as there can be MANY factors! But my SLI Neo is running awesome! It overclocks (no Tiresmoke, i won't go into that in this forum  ) and has NEVER once BSOD, or rebooted or even crashed! Not once and I push the crap out of this as it is my gaming box.  Also TS you are SO correct on the clock settings on the ultras, you gotts make sure they are the same or it will cause issues. The only thing I am kinda bummed about is the lack of real performance with the dual 6800 Ultra's, but that is a Nvidia issue not MSI. Guys I may be blessed, but I have run three Neo MSI brds, 2 939 and 1 754 and never had any issues....

I have yet to experience any boot/reboot issues...So I think we should wait to hear more from this person before we assume anything...

I have the nForce4 SLI brd and i run a new San Diego..it booted up fine and zero problems. But man is this thing FAST

According to MSI, the Neo4 will work fine with the new cores, the Neo2 will need a bios upgrade

I set my brd up the first time for SLI with dual cards and have never had any issues..Sorry guys, but I guess it's the luck of the draw, but I have yet to ever ave an issue with any MSI brds..I have a Neo2,Neo4 and the older 754 slot Neo..no issues.

Look, I have already been threatened to be banned because of my sarcastic replies to you.  Read every one of your responses I listed.  Obviously OTHERS are having problems.  WHY don't you help them instead of TAUNTING people that yours works.  They are upset, and you make them feel dumb like it's their fault.
Man I have tried to contribute so much to this issue that at least 20 different members here are having, I have tested with an Asus SLI board, I have tried different BIOS's and posted results, I have theorized with others and I feel like you are slapping me in the face by restating time and time again "what problem mine works great"i
I'm on a verbal warning because I didn't have respect for you.  Well how are you respecting the other people who have problems by saying you don't know what their issue is.  Read up on it or help them, instead of creating tension. Please?

  • MSI 651 Combo / MS6769 Problem with Temperature

Hi. I´m having some troubles with my mb, since 2 weeks ago. Suddenly, it starts to appear that cpu temperature go 70 º C (158 º F), and i hadn´t do anything. I changed the cooler, and put some new grease, and nothing happen. Then i searched in this forum, and i found a message simmilar, that said something about upgrade bios, and thas what i recently do (WS6769 v1.0 originally, then V1.3, then V1.2). But nothing...
What should i do? buy another mb? I don´t want to.
    Thanks.
    Claudio

Well, i´m pretty sure that it is the mother board, because, i already changed all what´s possible to change: processor, RAM, hd, power supply, processor.
Din: I don´t know what´s "corecenter". I already upgraded BIOS (to v1.2 that supuestly fix my problem), and put thermal paste (grease? in spanish "pasta disipadora") between CPU cooler and CPU. And i do change the processor (i put a p4 1,8GHz), with other FAN processor (CPU cooler), and the same temperature.
    Danny:Those details you ask me:
    In a label on the power supply (lVoltage MAXAmpere): +5V 30A, +3.3V 20A, +12V 15A, -12V 0.8A, -5V 0.5A, +5Vsb 2.5A.
It is a Maxpower 300 Watts ATX, model PX300.
    On BIOS PC Health: Sys Temp: 18ºC/66ºF, CPU Temp 66ºC/150ºF (up to 70ºC), CPU Fan speed 2909 RPM, Vcore 1.68V, 3.3V 3.26V, +5V 5.10V, +12V 12.03V, -12V -12.19V, VBAT(V) 3.26V, 5Vsb(V) 5.14V.
I have a Celeron 1,8 GHz, socket 478, a MSI 651 Combo MS6769 Motheboard, with nothing else. Hd Maxtor 30Gb, Rewriter MSI 52x24x52.
The problem: From one day to another, it wasn´t load XP. It resets itself after a few seconds (about 5 secs). On the BIOS PC Health section, i actived the CPU Temperature beep on "too much degrees" (i don´t remember the exact name, but that´s the idea). And that´s how i realize that the temperature is the problem. I think it is how the motherboard inform the temperature, and it is a nominal temperature, not real. If it´s real, i already had a burnt processor.
Anything else that can help to find a solution for me?
    Very thanks.
    Claudio

  • MSI K8T Neo2 slow SATA problem

    Hello members,
I do have a MSI K8T Neo2 mainboard with Via chipset. The board supports SATA 150. AFAIK this means it should support transfer rates up to 150 MB/s.
Now Ive bought a SATA3 SSD with over 500 MB/s. Because SATA 3 is downcompatible to SATA 1 its working so far.
The only problem is I expected 150MB/s but I do only get about 115 MB/s with benchmark programs like HD Tune and AS SSD Benchmark in sequential read.
I do have the latest drivers and bios updates but it seems MSI SATA controllers is very slow.
Can anyone help me getting it faster?

    Thank you.
Does this mean in praxis I dont get 150 MB/s ?
Is this general or only MSI specific?

  • Msi h61mu-e35-b3 sata problem

There are times that at system boot, my sata devices such as hdd and odd is not detected by the bios therefore it will not boot to windows then go directly to bios setup.
What I usually do is I connect the devices to other sata ports or tried to change sata cable but still it does not work. The fix I only see is to set to load optimized defaults in bios then boot the system repeatedly.
By the way all settings in the bios is always set to default. But what seems to be the problem?

Try a different drive, see if it has the same problem or not.
