MSI KT6-Delta-SR + Athlon 2400+ (266) Problem

Hey Guys,
I have a problem with the MSI KT6-Delta-SR and Athlon 2400+ (266).
I've tried about 6 different boards and 6 different athlon 2400+ (266fsb) and what happens is randomly when you turn the computer on the processor is displayed as an athlon 2000+ or athlon 1700+ (using different ram and other components too).
I check in bios and the fsb is still set to 133 (which should be correct for a 266fsb athlonXP).
Running latest bios for the board (v. 5.5) and have tried previous bios revisions.
Anyone come across this? is this an incompatability with the KT6-Delta-SR  and 266fsb athlons?
could it be a v.core issue? (what should the v.core b for athlon 2400+ (266)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Borjo jnc, aopen, gtr 350watt psu. it's not a psu problem.
yes 2 problems.
1. incorrect cpu recognition
and  2. random restart before xp loads.
after random restart cpu is recognised as either athlon 2000+ or athlon 1700+
this occurs sometimes before detecting hard drive, but mainly when second bar of windows xp pro loads (running xp pro +sp1 Plus latest updates and drivers. and regardless of what bios revision i'm using.
Tyco cpu id software says athlon2400+ and correct specs when booting properly. if i look at the top of the cpu is says athlon2400+

  • MSI KT6 Delta and Auto update page problem

Hi, I have been lookin for the right forum to post this on for awhile heh but I have an MSI KT6 Delta FIS2R which has an auto update feature that uses an icon on ur desktop called MSI Live Update. This utility has been working for quite some time now but all of a sudden i get an error message in quote
"Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09'
Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.
    /autobios/VerChk/XSeries.asp, line 105"
I have been on a few sites including microsofts to try and figure out the problem but i get nothing concrete or at least anything i can understand, so I hope someone out here does and if so please help me! thank u

okay well I did that but does not seem to be working... also after just reading FAQ i noticed that the live update service is being updated which coul dbe causing the problem as well, but i dont know how accurate the date is on that I mean it is a FAQ. So.. is anyone else with this board having the same problem right now?

  • Msi kt6 delta lsr temp problem?

i have just installed a msi kt6 delta lsr , but when i have ran the system a while the sys temp is around 40-42 c and the cpu temp is around 52c .
on my old mobo the temps never went above 35c for the cpu and 25c for the sys temp .

windows me (but same in win xp pro)
2 fans blowing air into case and 2 sucking air out
does anybody know a way to improve the temps please

Yippee! A ME user, like me! You know I guess MS support for W98 and ME has been prolonged til 2006? It has partly to do with Linux.
The temperature for the CPU is a little high, but not alarmingly so. Barton gets a little bit hotter on these boards, and I think it is the placing belovw the PSU that is the cause. The system temperature for you is no problem.
To get the warmth away from the CPU I suggest a fan placed in the case door/side, that sucks it out.
Perhaps you have not got such a case door? Then I suggest a quiet 80 mm fan on the back of the case as high as possible, again sucking air out in order to make a nice air flow. Another suggestion is to tie away cabling to the sides of the case as much as possible, power cables, IDE cables etc.

I keep getting some strange BSOD. No matter what I do with the machine. Windows locks up completely and after about 1min, that BSOD comes and machine boots.
In normal usage, it comes about 1-3 times/day.
Mostly it comes when I copy some files from disk to other.
But it comes everytime when I try to decompress big (over 400mb) ZIP-files.
Everything did work with my old board, MSI KT4A. The problems begun when i changed the motherboard and added the Seagate S-ATA hdd.
I have ordered new memory, Kingston HyperX 512mb (333). Could it be memory-related or something with S-ATA ????
I have tried everything, latest BIOS, latest VIA4in1, memchecks etc...

I had the same problem on a differnt mobo and all I did to fix it was switch the IDE cables around on the devices.
    ?Give it a try?
It may be a jumper you forgot to change on  the IDE devices.

  • [VIA] Problems with MSI KT6 Delta

    MSI KT6 Delta
    AMD XP 2000+
    256 MB DDR 400
    GeForce FX5200 128 MB DDR
I installed WinXP+SP1 and VIA4in1 v4.55 with NVIDIA 66.93 drivers. The screen fades out and in less than a second the picture shows up again.
Note: What should appear in device manager in section "System devices" after installing VIA4in1 v4.55?
I tried: changing video card, RAM memory, installing WinXP+SP2 (worse results!)
    Thanks in advance

The system reports no errors nor conflicts in Device Manager window. This problem appeared when I did an upgrade from WinXP SP1 to SP2. I use Fedora Core on the same computer with NVIDIA drivers installed and there were no problems. I tried to change the monitor but it was the same. I think I managed to solve the problem by installing WinXP SP1 and an older NVIDIA driver (version 4.5.2.3) and VIA 4in1 pack 4.55. Everything runs smooth for now.

  • MSI KT6 Delta-L sound problems

Hi, I have an annoying problem. My sound gets disorted and after one or two seconds I get a Blue Screen..
This only seems to happend with Operation Flashpoint Resistance and Lock On Air Combat (both uses a lot of memory). Computer is rock stabile unless this.
I have tried both Win2k/XP and flashing my BIOS to the most rescent one, as well as the drivers.. I have also tried without the PCI-cards, and disabled some features at the motherboard, but with no help.
But when I used Via AC97 drivers instead of C-Media, it crash no more (aswell as no sound drivers at all), but I have no surround sound (I suppose that driver don't support my sound chip fully)...

  • MSI KT6 Delta LSR SATA to PATA High CPU Usage Problem

Well recently I've switch to my one of my other motherboards on my network to a MSI KT6 Delta LSR, it was working fine after a reformat, but I notice a few problems and that is 100% cpu usage for SATA to PATA, and vice versa, which seems really crazy. Then my network card performance is ISDN speed sluggish, and I tested my line to be working 100% with another mobo. But when I put another NIC on the same mobo it suffers the same speed problems.
Any suggestions? The rig is specs:
    Barton 2500+
    Antec QuietPower 350W
    200GB Seagate SATA HDD
    40GB Seagate PATA HDD
    ATI Radeon 7500 AIW
    Audigy 2 Value
    Realtek 8139 NIC
    MSI KT6 Delta LSR Mobo
    2x512 MB PC 2700 RAM
    Pioneer 107D DVD Writer
    LG 16X DVD-ROM
    56K Modem (A-open)

Shouldn't say what I don't know about SATA, but since I found below, I need ask if VIA 4in1 drivers are installed, preferably while in SafeMode I say:
    http://www.google.se/search?q=cache:X6ewgPiIHYcJ:www.qdi.nl/cgi-bin/bbs/YaBB.pl%3Fboard%3DP4I865%3Baction%3Ddisplay%3Bnum%3D1074174096+sata+to+pata+cpu+usage&hl=sv
I recently installed 160g Seagate barracuda 7200.7 drive on SATA port. (I enabled the Bios using Auto) I have a P4I865pea-6al mother board, with two PATA drives . When copying files between the PATA drives on ide ports, to or from, the SATA drive, I notice the CPU usage goes up to 100%, but when copying files from one ide drive (the PATA drives) to another the CPU usage is very low.
Is there a bios setting that will allow me to copy files from the SATA drive to the Pata drives using a small amount of CPU power, found when just copying between the Primary and Secondary IDE drives? I am using Adobe premiere pro, which uses a lot of CPU power, and the high CPU usage of the SATA drive crashes this program? Any help would be appreciated

  • I have a problem MSI kt6 delta help!!!!!

    Hi
I have a problem with my MOBO MSI Kt6 Delta, The problem is i cant use Windows XP with my MOBO.
My hardwares are: AMD XP2600 333mhz, DDR 512MB PC2700,Geforce4 128MB ti4400 (msi), CDRW TDK VeloCD 24x10x40, HD SEGATE 120 GB SATA.
When i installed Windows XP it couldnt start great (error with Video) for that reason i installed the Geforce drivers via Safe Mode. then i reset and work great only for 15 MIN (it shows blue screem error with some problem with video card) and for that reason i installed windows 98 and works great (we hate win98) lol. Pls help me

Try with another video card, if the problem is solutioned, review your video card. In The BIOS activate the Fast Write for AGP. I have a Geforce 4 MX 440 8x 64 MB and works very very fine.

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=474
Ok before i bought this motherboard i used to have a ABIT KT7 Raid and it all worked well!
But i wanted a new 1 so i bought the MSI mobo.
The setup in my case didnt change at all i only replaced the motherboard.
I started it up and it couldnt find the HD's on IDE1 ...But it did find the CDroms , dvd etc on IDE2.
I changed it around so i had the HD's on IDE2 and CDROM's on IDE2 ...but it didnt startup after that ...
I changed them back and again it only found the CDrom's .
I thought hmz maybe i broke something who knows so i changed back to the old mother board and it worked well again
So it had to be the motherboard i thought ...so i went back ...got a new 1 same brand / type etc.
Again i did the same but now AGAIN it didnt find the HD's on IDE1 ...but it DID find the HD's on IDE2 .....
So now im stuck with only 1 HD and a dvd burner
What could be the problem ?
I tried everything....from " master/slave "  and only 1 HD or only 2 HD's etc but then it either cant find the disks or it wont startup at all ....
    Specs :
    Maxtor 80g  /  WDC 40 g Harddisks

So I Tried Unplugging The Hard Drives Again and Still No Boot Tried My 1gb Ram From My Main pc and Still No Boot So I Setup The D-Bracket To See If That Could Find My Problem and It Says That My CPU Was Damaged or Not Installed Properly So i Took It Out and Put My AMD Barton 2500+ In and My 480watt Hiper PSU and It Said That CPU Was Damaged or Not Installed Properly So I Tried My 2400+ In My Other Motherboard What Is a MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR nForce 2 Ultra 400 and It Worked Fine Both CPU's Did.
    System Specs Of Spare Pc.

    ATI Radeon 9600Pro
All Help Will Be Apreciated Cheers.

Hi, I received the same message from the D-bracket, so mine wont boot never, If you get how it works from yours please explain what you did here, in order to get my board alive. Sorry, but I tried everything in the book with this mobo and nothing worked (KT6-LSR non delta version), and I feel that I can't help you out so much.

  • MSI KT6 Delta wont boot

My MSI KT6 Delta system no longer boots any further than the memory test? why? any ideas? any solutions other than replacing the motherboard etc.
    some background:
    motherboard: MSI KT6 Delta
    CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800
    Memory: 1Gb branded
    Graphics: Geforce FX 5200 AGP
    PSU: Antec TrueBlue 480
Screen displays the memory test then a message relating to BIOS setup i.e. "Del: BIOS Setup" plus a new option i dont remember seeing previously namely "F10: Flash recovery" btw pressing 'del' doesn't help you cant get into the BIOS setup.  Having cleared the CMOS via JBAT1 i now just get the MSI Welcome screen.  If it helps the D-Bracket displays a red led top left.
its all a bit odd really, everything was fine on Friday night, but come Saturday morning its all gone pear shaped.
    any help appreciate

OK. Well, the procesor is where I'd start troubleshooting.
Step one would be to unplug power cable and other cables on the back of the computer, wait a while ( you'll hear a faint zzipp  ), and then move JBAT jumper in order to clear CMOS. That will force you into BIOS.
Eh, thought of something. BIOS will stop sometimes if it can't find a keyboard. And you say entering BIOS is impossible. Perhaps you have more than one problem? a) processor's BIOS settings are impossible, b) the keyboard hinders you from entering BIOS. However, the CMOS clearing should in either case be a good start.
Your problem very much reminds of what happened to me and others while playing with CoreCenter. I know you didn't but can't help saying so.

  • New MSI KT6 Delta - No Post

    Hey everyone.....
I don't know if you guys remember but my last posts were largely about how much I hate computers....well the feeling is getting stronger.
I just got a new used MSI KT6 Delta mb and I hooked everything up but when I turn it on it just starts the fans and nothing else.
I can test the cpu and psu pretty easy 2marrow....but Im pretty sure this mb is good...unless the guy lied, and the reason I got this one is cause my last computer(old mb) would just sit at 39 minutes once it reached the graphical part of the xp install (and Im definite the cd was perfect)...so I'd assume everything else was working except my old mb......so......was I wrong...could have been something else
could it be something else this time?
I've reset the bios (which are supposely updated), I've tried my other graphics card and I'm out of ideas....
Im in a rush but I wanted to get some ideas asap.
I figure it can't be any other hardware besides my mb or gc but incase
I've got in it now - 128mb of generic PC2100
    1800 XP Athlon
    and my ti4400
nothing else....I also just got some cheap powersupply so maybe its causing the problems but I don't have any money....
    Thanks for the help

  • KT6-DELTA sees Athlon 1.6mhz as 1.2mhz

I recently purchased an MSI KT6 DELTA to replace my old motherboard (I needed to support a 250gig HD)  With it I purchased 512 mb of DDR 400 pc3200 RAM to get it going.  All other components (processor, Heatsink, Fan) were from the old system and are compatible.  I have listed specs at the bottom of this post.
The main problem is that when I check the system settings it recognises the processor as a 1.2ghz Athlon when it is actually an Athlon 1900+ 133mhz, 12.0x, 1.6ghz processsor.
After checking the BIOS setting, and checking out the readings on the corecenter application I found that the processor is running at 100mhz (not 133mhz as is needed).
**I have also noticed that when using explorer to navigate my way round files it exits the program randomly, on random files.  The manual shows on the MEMORY SPEED/CPU CLOCK SPEED MATRIX diagram, DDR 400 memory is NOT compatible with a 100mhz CPU clock??**
I believe that when I get the processor up to speed and recognised as a 1.6ghz, everything will be fine and speed, memory issues will sort everything out.
I guess the main question is this "How do I get the system to recognise the 1.6ghz CPU?"
    Steps taken so far:
-The following BIOS settings have been applied
    --ADVANCED CHIPSET FEATURES>DRAM TIMING
SYSTEM PERFORMANCE is set to FAST.
CURRENT HOST CLOCK is set to 100mhz (will not allow any changes)
SDRAM FREQUENCY is set to AUTO (I could set it to 400mhz)
    --FREQUENCY VOLTAGE CONTROL
CPU FSB CLOCK is set to 100mhz (Should be 133mhs).  You cannot change this setting.
CPU RATIO is set to AUTO (should be x15)
I have cleared the CMOS once with no changes.  It just boots up saying I am running a 1.2ghz Athlon Processor.
I have heard a rumour of a JP10 jumper that keeps MSI mothernboards in safe mode, not allowing the processor to go over 100mhz
Any help would be great (especially WONKA, as they helped me chose the board and knows what they're talking about)
    Thanks
    **SPECS**
Microsoft XP home OS - Service pack 2
    512MB 400MHZ PC3200
    AMD Athlon XP 1900+, 133MHZ, 12.0x, 1.6GHZ
Appropriate heatsink and fan (that came ith the processor)
MSI KT6-DELTA MOTHERBOARD FOR ATHLON PROCESSORS
    AMI BIOS V3.31A
    RADEON 9200 256RAM 8xAGP
    SEAGATE 40 GIG SYSTEM HD
    HITACHI 250 GIG FILE HD
IDE CABLE 133MB/S BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY ATA33/66/100/133

The board can't autodetect the front side bus it can only do that with the multiplier(cpu ratio) the current host clock you see in the DRAM Configuration is what it's set at not what it's being auto-detected as. No board can auto-detect the front side bus as far as I'm aware.
Your system specs list the bios version incorrectly that what the AMI code version is 3.31 the bios version number should be 5.0-5.7 .
There aren't any cpu or memory config jumpers on this board so we can put that to rest no rumour that's for Nforce2 boards. We can also put to rest another the KT6 Delta supports the 1900+ both versions(Palamino&Tbred) a FSB of 133Mhz and the multiplier at auto.
One thing that has seemed to slip by on this thread is the power supply give us the dirt on it give us the amps on the +12v +3.3v and the +5v plus the total combined wattage and also the brand name and model name. Make sure that the square 4pin connector is plugged into the socket on the board.
Last thing to do is reseat the processor take of the heatsink+fan unit if the cpu came in a retail blister packaging the HSF will have a thermal pad so no real reason the clean any paste off. Take the cpu off clean any debris if any found then carefully make the cpu is making good contact it's fully seated and all of that jazz.

  • MSI KT6 Delta( Via KT600) works with mobiles???

Hello, just bought today a used cpu, it's a Athlon XP mobile 2000+ for my MSI KT6 DELTA...
It just won't boot... i turns on and off after a second or less...
    Is this an unsupported cpu??
I've searched on teh msi page for cpu support, and I have my doubts...
Here's what's qritten on the CPU Core:  AXMH2000FQQ3C
    For waht i understand it's a Thoroughbred/barton based cpu, 45W, works at 1667MHz, with FSB Autodetect, deafault V, 1.45, max temp 100º C, 256kb cache, 266 MHz bus...
It's said on the main page of this board, that it's supports 400MHz FSB's...

lose the sarcasm and the caps lock and you more likely to get advice
For what it is worth you are not making yourself clear.
    For example:-  Quote

    Quote
and to turn it back on with the cpu, i have to clear cmos data...
Let's assume cpu is correctly greased and seated; when you power on get no response (psu fan, cpu fan, case fan, beeps?) unless you clear cmos and then once you do that you get 1 sec of activity before system powers down?
have you put old cpu back in and still works?
i guess you will know more when you test new cpu elsewhere
