MSI Laptop randomly shutting down during gaming.

I have an MSI Gt683DX that was purchased 3 years ago. Lately it's been shutting down and overheating while gaming for 10-15 minutes. HWmoniter shows that the CPU is getting from 85C-100C when under heavyload. I did clean out all the dust from my fans and have been using my laptop on a flat, clean surface and yet the issue still persists. I love this laptop and have never had an issue with it before now. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks!!

What does repasting mean? Please be more specific. I have the same issue, and is desperate for solutions.
Open the bottom door and take the thermal module out of the case, wipe the thermal grease out and repaste a new one. There are many videos on Internet about how to repaste the thermal grease. Google it!

  • Satellite A500-026 Overheats and shuts down during gaming

Hey guys, any help would be appreciated.
My 026 has recently started overheating and randomly shutting down during video games. I can't even run TF2 for more then an hour without it dying on me suddenly. It never used to do this for months of use.
I can only assume its a problem with my video card. I have tried downloading drivers from Toshibas site and the latest releases from Nvidia without change. I have already booked a MobileCare service, just wanted to gauge what possible problems could be.

    Hi
    Possibly its high temperature issue.
High temperature causes a shut down in order to protect the hardware from damage.
But the question is why the temperature increases to critical level?
One reason might be a graphic card driver from nvidia page. Such driver does not contain overheating protection. So you have to use the driver from Toshiba page.
    I see you did it
Well, the notebook seems to be a new one.so usually the dust should not be a problem and the fans should work properly
One tip; please ensure that you have enough free space around the notebook to ensure good air circulation...
However, I recommend asking a ASP in your country for an check maybe its hardware related issue.

  • Website randomly shuts down during access

I am having a problem with a particular website (booking.com) on my ipad (version1). Every time i try to search or even sign in the website randomly shuts down in the middle of the process. I have tried deleting the bookmark, cleared history and cookies. Any suggestions how to fix the problem?

Likely something in the site design that does not play well with iOS.
Try downloading the app from the app store.

  • My laptop randomly shuts down (VIDEO)

Hello! I hope someone can help me.
For some time my laptop (Toshiba L655D-S5109) has a random error. While using the computer suddenly shuts down, although two lights are flashing.
The problem is with the battery running. Without the battery is functioning normally (plugged in).
Since I replaced the battery with a new original and the problem continues.
    Any idea what can be?
    Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUnD9G7_QL8
    Thanx!!

when booting up, try and get into the boot menu by hitting the f8 key repeatedly after hitting the power button.  If successful, try and start in safe mode and see what happens.  post back.  P.S.  You don't need to post a video, just not what all happens and describe it with text

  • MSI P67A-C45 - Shutting down during OS installation

I'll take a wild swing into cyber-space, hoping that someone out there have experienced this problem and found a solution.
I've had a look around on these forums, trying to find a topic with the same problem as I've experienced, but couldn't find any.
A friend of mine just bought the MSI P67A-C45 and it booted just fine. The problem occurs when trying to install Windows 7 Home premium 64bit version. It goes through the normal steps, re-booting once during the installation. But when trying to finalize the installation, the motherboard simply shuts down, and boots back up ~4-5 seconds later.
I've tried booting with minimal components; Motherboard, GPU, SSD & DVD-ROM. I've also tried installing it on 2 other disks, 1 10k raptor and a normal 7200, but with the same result.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? Or does anyone have any idea what could be causing it to shut down like this?
Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.

Several members of this forum, myself included, have done our own tests and concluded that AHCI is of no benefit to SSD drives.
That makes total sense because the only real benefit of AHCI for single drives is native command queuing which allows physical drive systems to sort the command queue in the way that best reduces head movement and revolutions (since data is placed all over the platters).  With an SSD, every memory location can be read at exactly the same speed so native command queuing would actually decrease performance by the few microseconds it takes to perform the useless command queue sorting operation.

  • My Laptop randomly shuts down

I have a Toshiba satelite a205-s5855 that randomly shuts off after use, sometimes after hours but most of the time within 30-40 min or less. At first, I thought it may have been a virus or software problem, but after scanning it and finding nothing, and upgrading to windows 7(it previously had windows vista), I still had the problem. So I did some searching on the internet and eventually downloaded speedfan to check its temp after realizing it's probably overheating. I have speedfan 4.46 and have been using it to check core temps. The highest I've seen it before shutting down was 70-something, and it gets up to the mid-fifties when  I have nothing at all running except for it (and this is with me using an external fan to try to keep it cool). I've blown the fan with a can of compressed air as well, but I still have the problem. Also, on speedfan, when I goto charts and set it to analyze fan speeds, nothing shows up for me to select (not sure if that's normal). What can I do to solve this problem?

The events numbered 1 and 3 that you have posted are events AFTER your unit has restarted. They are useless as a cause of the previous shutdowns. You need to scan through the events that are recorded just BEFORE the restart, that is at or just before the system shutdown/crashed.
Here's some info on event number 2.
    Event ID: 33 Source: SideBySide
Did your event number 2 come just before a restart?
Specifically what anti-virus software are you using? Is it Kaspersky or AVAST?
Also, specifically what Canon device(s) (digital camera, scanner, printer, etc) do you connect or have connected to your system. Give us the spcecific model names/numbers.

  • Why does my HP DV6 laptop randomly shut down and stop charging?

I believe I've asked this question before. In August 2011 I got a laptop:
    HP DV6
    Product #:
    LW260UA#ABD
    Processor
    AMD A8-3500M APU
My problem is that my laptop always has to sit in a certain position of it is going to be able to charge. Is this due to the port where the laptop is charging being faulty and loose? Also when I unplug the charger the laptop shuts off automatically within  1 minute. I then have to plug the laptop up to the charger again for it to work. Basically, I need to ALWAYS have my laptop plugged in for it to work. I tried doing the battery test on the laptop, but it said it's fine and has no bad cells. Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Hi melkouas,
Thank you for your inquiry, I will try my best to help.
I grasp that you are experiencing a charge issue.  You have tested the battery and it is OK, but you must be connected to power for it to work.
I have located documents I believe will help. Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge
and Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 7).

  • Computer shuts down during render/prerender

This was not my original problem but it has occured before and I know it will occur again.
My computer shuts down for no reason when I try to render or prerender video in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. From what I can tell it is a general issue with premiere that I am having. I have tried multiple video formats, multiple video lengths, and multiple rendering options and I am still getting random shut downs during rendering.
Here are some specs for my computer which is a laptop:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit OS)
Proccessor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.0 ghz
    Ram: 8 gigs of it
    Video: Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT
1 Hard Drive w/ 280 gb of space
As a recap.... My exact problem is that during the rendering or pre rendering proccess my computer simply shuts down as in it turns off.
I can also add that the computer does act strangely leading me to believe that theres some hardware or software incompatibility. While it is rendering I can hear the CPU fan pick up which is usually normal for any rendering application but what I noticed was that it doesnt stop speeding up. Its like if it was going into an overload and I can confirm that at its peak, the computer shuts down.
To add troubles... whenever I pre render any video and it succesfully renders.... Premeire will hang up really really bad if I try to play the pre rendered preview. In otherwords when you preview a video that it pre rendered it usually plays smooth and everything is fine. After I pre render something though and play it I can tell its locking up because the timeline bar is really jumpy and the video playback skips also.
This is the problem I would really love fixed. I usually have to button smash my keyboard until I lock premiere up and then once it unfreezes itself i can preview my work smoothly. This is however like a good 5 mins of my time trying to get the preview to play smoothly though so its really hurting how fast I can work.
If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I will be trying to run the same stuff on my older laptop and observe the results. I personally think CS4 is incompatible with windows 7.

If you have a recent nVidia driver installed, you might want to check to see if you have either of these two modules loaded - check in the nVidia console:
PhysX, or 3D Stereovision. If you have them, definitely disable 3D Stereo, and test. If no improvement, disble PhysX and test.
Also, try adjusting your Hardware Acceleration. If Max, set to Min and test. If Min, set to Max and test. If either helps, try incrementing up, or down, until it no longer helps.
Last, check your OpenGL settings. If ON, turn OFF. If OFF, turn ON.
It appears that you have a laptop. Is that correct?
    Good luck,

  • Late 2007 MacBook Pro Randomly Shuts Down

I have a late 2007 15-inch MacBook Pro (A1226). It has a 2.20 GHz Core 2 Duo, 5 GB of memory (a stock 1 GB stick and a 3rd party 4 GB stick), and a stock 200 GB 7200 RPM Hitachi hard drive. I have had issues with it shutting down in certain situations.
    (1) The laptop shuts down abruptly whenever I pick it up and walk around with it. This consistently happens within 5 seconds of picking it up. I know for a fact that this never used to be problem. I only started noticing this happening about 5 months ago.
    (2) The laptop randomly shuts down abruptly when I'm using it on a hard stable surface that does not block any vents. This does not necessarily happen when it is under a heavy load. When it happens, the laptop suddenly shuts down and the screen suddenly goes black. I have to wait about 5 to 10 minutes for it to be willing to turn back on again. This happens one to three times a day, and it is completely unpredictable. Below is a graph of various temperatures up until the point when it shuts down. None of these temperatures are high enough for me to suspect that this issue is caused by overheating.
I would really appreciate it if anyone had any insight into why these random shutdowns are happening. Thanks!

I suggest an Apple Hardware Test and see if that picks up any issues:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509
An appointment at an Apple genius bar seems like a good idea.  Since you say that the problem occurs when you pick up the MBP, you should be able to recreate it for the technicians.
Though I do not believe that it is connected with yo ur problem, I would suggest replacing the 1 GB RAM chip with a 2 GB RAM chip.  That is the best RAM combination for your MBP.
    Ciao.

  • Laptop shut down during windows 10 update and now won't startup

Hi, My pc shut down during the Windows 10 installation 2 days ago. Since then I tried to start up the pc, without success.
I tried to press F11 during booting but the laptop just stays with a black screen saying "F11... System recovery", until I shut my computer down.If I press no key during booting, the screen remains black (with a bit of a background light) and stays like this for hours until I shut it down. I also tried to use the trick with holding the power button for 30 seconds when the laptop is turned off (I guess you call it a hard reset?), but that didn't work either.  What should I do to get back to the original Windows 8.1? I would like to use my pc again and if possible, to not loose any of my old documents.

Hi , Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 17-j000 Notebook and issues with it not responding with a Windows 10 update. Try performing a hard reset. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices. It should continue where it left off. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.

  • Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro, random shut-downs running Mavericks,

Since the last two Mavericks OS updates, beginning April 21st, I am experiencing random shut-downs on a mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro, any suggestions? I've seen posts regarding the known logic board issue, I had no problem before the last two OS updates. Seems to be related to sleep/wake. Running 10.9.2

Hi Andy, would you take more look at this log. . . random shut down happened again, look at 11:54 am and before, I re-booted at 12:02. Had suspected my external monitor at the office, laptop does not do this at home, ran for three straight days, no issues. No monitor connected today as a test. Plugged in at the office for just over three hours and bam. could be the battery thing, will try AHT or Apple Diagnostics, could it be a Time Machine related issue? Thanks in advance.

  • MacPro randomly shuts down after upgrading to GTX 660

So I've had the EVGA GTX 285 mac edition in my MacPro 3,1 for a while now and decided to upgrade to the EVGA GTX 660 because I wanted a card that would provide more power for my 3d work and allow more gaming potential when I'm not working. After the upgrade I have been experiencing random shut downs. At first I thought it was during heavy loads (from my 3d software) but yesterday a shut down occured when I was just typing up an email with hardly anything running in the background. I've tried to diagnose the problem but to no avail. I believe the power supply is enough because the older card uses 2 of the power ports inside the MacPro while this new card uses just one. It's not overheating because everything runs at around 30C - 50C (rarely spiking to 58C.) Anyone know what could be the cause? I am working on my Windows partition by the way.

How interesting...we've noticed the same thing on 3 different occasions as recently as this a.m.. My wife was online for school, and the screen suddenly went "almost" black. There was nothing to do but shut down and turn it back on.
In 3 years since we've had this iMac, and running on 10.4, we never had this problem, so we're also hoping the community out there has some input on this issue.
    Thanks!

  • Random shut down and whole screen flickers

Today my Mac Book Pro started to act really strange. It randomly shut down on me with over two hours of battery life left. A complete shut down, not into sleep mode or anything. Turning it back on it seemed the desktop and everything on it flickered to black for a full second before going back in. The screen is doing that on and off and I'm half expecting it to shut down on me again.
I have used it intensively for the last few days with gaming. World of Warcraft to be specific. My desktop is down and my laptop was the only thing I had to use to distract myself from things so... meh.
Could it have just begun over heating? Its worth noting that I hadn't had a intensive application like a game running for at least an hour before it began acting up.
So.. what's going on with my laptop, any idea?

Those of you who have 15" MBP's from early 2006 should have a look at the battery replacement program outlined at https://support.apple.com/macbookpro15/batteryexchange/
Some others may need to install the MacBookPro battery update - see http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/
Finally, in some cases , if the above programs don't apply to you, it is possible that your battery is failing for other reasons, and therefore needs replacing, or that the computer's SMC needs resetting - see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
As a general "first step" when confronted with problems like these it is often worth a glance at the general MBP support page at http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro/
    Cheers
