CX640DX is unfortuntaley not verified for Win 8 upgrade (http://event.msi.com/2012/know_win8/upgrade.html). In fact it is not eligible for Windows 8. Therefor MSI will not provide any support, bios or drivers for Win 8 and this model. Nothing more can be said about it. I am getting a error for some reason when i open MSI control center that tells me to Please Replace the ME version, i'm not sure why i'm getting this error out of the blue, is very strange, only thing i did was uninstall intel HD 4000 driver and reinstall it as i was getting a crash, i was using it as a extra monitor. but i don't think that had anything to do with this. in your signature you have listed BIOS 2.5

basically yes, unless your ME version is somehow corrupted,
or when bios was flashed your ME wasn't updated
if issue persist reflash the bios to the one that i linked you,
its still newest than 2.12 and will include proper ME update,
so you will know that issue isn't there after reflashing

install reinstall ME drivers from MSI web for your board:

sounds like some kind of OS mess or driver mess,
you can try to load some of older windows restore point
assume if you haven't flashed anything and worked fine before

MSI installer not working MSI 5.0 Windows 7

Hello I am trying to get MSI installer to work and when I go to install anything that has the Windows Installer Package it opens Notepad in a scrambled message. I have tried numerous avenues to no avail (regedit,copy paste regedit, troubleshooters, sfc/scannow,

Try importing these reg file under Safe mode.
If you really need this work, I am supposing the only way is to try importing them manually, if any value key is using by process, use process monitor to filter out these processes and shut them down.I monitored values under MSI.package seems like no

MSI NX6600 AGP Card & MSI 7008, VIA PT880 Motherboard Compatible?

Hello all!
Need a little help today.
I have a MSI NX6600 AGP Card & MSI 7008, VIA PT880 Motherboard that are giving me some headaches.If I try any NVIDIA driver above version 71.25 the graphics (2d and 3d) are very badly distorted. The desktop screen is unreadable and any software I try to run looks warped and garbled. I am using an Antec case with a 350w Antec PSU. Both the motherboard and video card are from MSI. This is the second video card I try, I RMA'd the first one. If I use an older AGP card (Ti4200) all graphics display perfectly. Is there something I can do to fix the problem? Is there a compatibility problem between the VIA chip and the NVIDIA 6600 chip?
I'd appreciate a push in the right direction!

I had these 2d-issues with 6600GT and RMA'd the card, hope I'll get newer revision... none of the fixes helped.

No MSI Information tab or MSI Clock tab

Hi there I am running windows xp pro (without sp1 and with all other xp updates). I have just tried to install the software for my GF4mx440. I can install the software from the installation disk with no problems. However I don't have the MSI Information tab or MSI Clock tab in the display properties box. I have installed the software on other machines and have had no problems at all. I have also installed an update for the driver from the msi web page.. no problem installing just no information or clock tabs.
Any suggestion would be help full.

Use notepad to make a new file and put in it what I quoted below and then save it with the .reg extension.

That will open all the extra options in the Detonator Drivers including the Core and RAM Speeds for your GF4.
Thanks to Deathstalker for that. It will only work with detonator driver and not with msi driver.

SB Xtreme Audio Notebook optical out problem with Home TheaterSystem-HELP!

JSB Xtreme Audio Notebook optical out problem with Home TheaterSystem-HELP!, I have this sound card connected?(optical OUT) ?to my home?theater system's digital IN ?through the recommended /8in. optical miniplug-to-optical SPDIF cable. Theater system is set correctly to Digital-In mode. I have no sound!
The cable is a Velocity Toslink-to-Optical Mini Plug digital cable. I don't see any settings in the Creative Console Launcher. The notebook is a Dell XPS M730 (Vista 32).
I have a PS3, DirecTV, and the SB Xtreme Audio Notebook cable on a hub switch that connects to the system's?one Optical IN. The PS3 and DirecTV sound perfect!
The sound card works fine with standard PC speakers. I'm at a loss as?to what to try next. I set this whole system up myself, so I'm pretty good at working out the kinks, except this one!

OK. I just went to Control Panel - Sound - Playback - Digital Output Device (SB Xtreme Audio Notebook) - Properties - Advanced. I experimented with different sample rates and bit depths. Clicked the test button and lo and behold - sound from the HTS! I've tried iTunes, PowerDVD (configured to digital output) and YouTube - no sound! Am I missing something really obvious?
HA! Just backed out to Playback and selected Digital Output Device (SPDIF) and set as Default. Sound is emunating from HTS! Well, that mystery is solved! Who knew.

When your MBP gets hot. take images of both and post them for inspection.

-HP Pavillion dv6000

Ok, now the problem:
-Ever since I got my Sound Blaster X-Fi card for this past christmas, I've had a problem with using the headset/lin-in port on it. Its only now that it's gotten to be a big enough irritation for me to need to fix it. I went to play some BF2 and hook up my earphone/microphone combo. The problem is, that the default recording device "Line-in" doesn't detect any sound when I have it plugged in. Further more, when I change it to "SB X-Fi micropone" it does detect my voice, but its on some kind of feedback loop, because it then transmits whatever the mic picks up onto my speakers/headphones/whatever I have plugged into it as an output. Its almost like they have the "line-in" and "microphone" functions either switched or blended into one. I did a complete reinstall of the drivers and software, but no luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

What I mean is the microphone jack on your x-fi notebook. since you are saying you can hear yourself when you switch the recording source to microphone, I would assume that you have plugged in a microphone into your x-fi notebook. You should check if there is a microphone control on your volume mixer and whether it is unmuted if there is one. There are many sound card which allows for the microphone audio to be heard on the speaker output if the microphone source is unmuted.

MSi GE60 Gaming notebook (nothing but problems)

So I bought this laptop about 6 months ago in 6 months the HDD has failed 3 times and the keyboard failed with it the 3rd time. Now it's working fine except for the fact that when I plug in a mouse the touchpad doesn't disable like it should 90% of the time it works but the last 48 hours have been a pain in the ass trying to type cause half of my stuff gets erased. I also play a lot of online MMO'S and it's difficult if my hand so much as touches the pad. It's actually starting to me off. I've refrained from coming here cause I wanted to fix it myself. But I've tried all I can think of. I uninstalled the driver and restarted the computer and let reinstall again nothing changes. I've tried to update the driver with the file from the MSi site and I've tried the FN + F3 Which usually disables it, now it doesn't do a damn thing. It's starting to get on my nervers, For an 1100$ laptop from supposedly one of the best companies in the world. I'm extremely disappointed. My custom built laptop from Memory Express 10x better than this.... Anyhow if anyone has any solutions, they'd be greatly appreciated.
Also it'd be nice to talk to someone from MSi. Cause at this point I'm wanting my money back.

sounds like your laptop is factory defected which means you should of gone back to the store where you got it and had it re-placed with new one since some times laptops are factory defected that they have issues and arent supposto be sent out for sale which factory misses alot of times some how so yeah this sounds like a failure on motherboard not responding propertly which is my guess.

Advancing Gaming Giants-MSI! Me @ 2015 MSI Gaming Computex Press Conference~

Working in an exhibition design company, I had the chance to witness the MSI 2015 Gaming Computex Press Conference. Though I play on-line game occasionally, I kinda like the Gaming products of MSI. One of my classmates gave me a MSI Gaming mouse with LED indicators, it’s gorgeous and handy!
By curiosity, I Googled MSI before the conference. Found out that MSI focused on Gaming Notebooks and high level mobo and graphics for decades, now it is sort of an international gaming leading brand. Its gaming products are definitely dream gears for professional eSport gamers. Seems this company is really something.
After I got the job done, boss allowed me to watch this conference. Stepped into the hall, I saw the giant size dragon mascot. And there was a photo sticker machine and a claw vending machine; everyone couldn’t refuse to stop steps to the entertainments.
In the conference hall, there were demo sections of MSI gaming series products. Variety of high level notebook, mobo, graphics, AIO, desktop, and etc. are all here for the participants to try out. More and more participants came and got to know the latest products of MSI.
The seats were taken very soon by the presses, vendors, and employees. I located myself at an inconspicuous corner to observe the event. In a while, the lights dimmed, and the conference started officially.
The main stage was designed in red, black and white colors, the 3 elements of MSI Gaming, and decorated with the MSI Gaming Dragon shield. Several pretty models went up to the stage one after the other to show the latest products to the crowd.
One more highlight of the conference was MSI senior managers and professional speakers to present the new products and new technologies. After that, several important IT companies introduced their cooperation with MSI. By this way, MSI products look really taking comprehensive advantages.
Everyone was focus on listening to the introductions. I was also very touched, and admired MSI branding much more.
At the end of the conference, MSI announced hot news. The MSI BeatIT gaming tournament which MSI held for 5 continuously years is renamed to MSI MGA (Masters Gaming Arena) global gaming tournament. In cooperation with world leading gaming company, ESL. The regional qualifiers start in June, and the global final will be held in August in Seattle, USA. Holly…! This is really a big enterprise; hold the global event out of the ordinary.
The whole conference showed the determination and effort of MSI on Gaming products and the industry. Really impressive.

MSI HD 7850 1GB GDDR5 OC edition Fan speed problem

Hello all.
I have some strange issue with my graphic card and fan i think. I have noticed that, when my monitor goes to sleep (or when I manually turn off), after few minutes (7-8-9-10) I can loudly hear GPU fan acceleration. And it happens every few minutes. So, everything is ok few minutes, and after that, again I can hear that annoying sound, the sound of accelerated fan. That happens only, but only when the monitor is switched off (whether it manually or automatically switched off).
I bought this video just 2 months ago, as well as other components of the computer. So, everything is practically new.
I have tested my graphic card with MSI Kombustor v. 2.4, and everything was fine. Temperatures, FPS, and all that stuf was fine.
I've never had a problem in any game so far. Everything working fine on high details all kind of games. Temperatures are pretty
normal. In a fact, I think that is temperature is lower than some average. I have a problem only with horizontal lines, but that is because i have monitor with VGA output. As a mather of fact, barely notice them. And, I have instaled latest 13.4 drivers. I deleted the old version with driver sweeper. And in an earlier version of driver was the same problem...
Again, the problem arises when my monitor is off. I have tested with MSI Afterburner 2.2.5 beta and GPU-Z 0.7.0.
All settings in both of programs are on default. So, that numbers at paragraph RMP, when monitor is off, max is 1563. That is 400 more than when monitor is on.
I have tried to test when is minimum usage of GPU fan is 40% (i just clicked on "user define" button on the right side of "fan speed"), and then, RMP number would be 1700 or even more.

So, everything is perfect when monitor is on, again. I don't think that is normal, and I beg for help. Is there any kind of solution to fix this problem? Please. I am thankful in advance. Sorry for my bad English.

Usualy, i left Opera, uTorrent, Skype in backround. Then, I shut down the programs, and only programs in background are Avast 8 and Realtek Audio Manager (both are in system tray). No matter if you leave a program in the background or not, it's the same.
I really have never met with this type of problem and I have no idea how to fix that. If I complain to the seller, he would run tests like I did, and everything would be ok. And when I would told him about the fan problem, probably would have told me that everything is okay...
I don't know what to try, really...

MSI G33M-FI and MSI 9600GT OC cold boot problem

So I just recently put together my new computer (MSI G33M-FI motherboard) and whenever I shut it down and turn it on the computer will turn off in about 3 seconds (you won't see the bios screen) and then it just turns on and off endlessly/ in a loop.
Fix is to clear CMOS and it will boot ok but whenever I turn it off (no restart..) the problem is back!, only clear CMOS helps...
Good thing I found the problem, the videocard (MSI 9600GT OC). When I switch it with my poorly ATI 1950pro I have no problem with a cold boot.
Using the latest bios version with the motherboard (on the MSI site). Havent flashed my 9600GT 512mb (red double slot cooler version) with a another bios yet though.. (if there is 1, just checked- no new bios).
Anyone got an idea how to fix this? I don't think so but maybe they should make a new bios to fix this?
Other parts from computer: Patriot extreme 4 gig (2x2) ddr2 performance (4-4-4-12, 2.2 volt) and an intel e8400 cpu.

I had cold-boot problems with my G33M-FI. Tried E2140 and Q6600 CPUs at stock voltages/clocks, tried two different sets of DDR2-800 RAM (4x1GB and 4x2GB), tried different CMOS batteries and tried two different power supplies (Thermaltake and Coolermaster 500W supplies). Regardless of combination of components, system would frequently fail to POST. Problems were experienced with integrated video (no add-on cards installed) and with/without any drives connected. Problems were also experienced with a single good stick of RAM in slot 1 vs. all four slots populated. Once booted, the system performed flawlessly passing memtest86+ and other reliability/stability tests. Once the system failed to boot, it would almost never boot again until I cleared the BIOS (sometimes requiring me to remove and reinsert the CMOS battery, since the jumper alone didn't cure the problem). Trial and error of different hardware combinations in an attempt to isolate the problem with a CMOS clear/recovery between attempts proved to be a very painful and tedious process. After speaking with MSI tech support, solution was to RMA the board.
