MSI Liveupdate3 Intel INF Update

As a new user, I will do my best to avoid revealing that I, in fact, know very little about PC's, and even less about motherboards.  Unfortunately for me, I recently decided to use MSI's Liveupdate3, and pretty much just downloaded and installed everything it had selected, being the amateur moron that I am.  This meant that I flashed the bios, and also downloaded and installed the Intel INF update under "live driver" that is version 5.00.1012.  Everything seems to be working fine (thank god, because after reading these forums I will never ever again flash my bios), except that now during boot up I get an odd "err" noise right after a beep.  A techie friend of mine didn't recognize the noise, nor did he feel that it was a problem.  However, the other change my system experienced after flashing the bios and the inf update was that it now thinks I am running a dual proc pc; which I am not (I will list specs at the bottom). I noticed this by looking in the "device manager" area.  Uninstalling one of the procs doesn't seem to help; when I boot up the 2nd is right back there.  Under the system information tab it also shows that there is two procs.  Also, (I hope I am saying this in a way you can understand due to my limited knowledge) under the system information tool, it seems like there is another of all the devices listed. (I wish I could paste my entire system information printout here).  My techie friend says that there seems to be a lot of resource sharing going on with copies of devices that obviously don't excist.  At first I was convinced that this all had to do with my flashing to the latest bios, but I think that it has to do with the Intel INF update. My techie friend says that he has a hunch that if I installed it again I would see three of everything.  I would really like to get my PC back to thinking that it only has one proc and isn't sharing all these non excistent devices, and then uninstall msi liveupdate and forget I was ever such an idiot.  I would really appreciate any kind of input; here or at my e-mail [email protected]
Thank you for your time.

In device manager it lists that I have 3 mice (two HID-Compliant one PS/2 Compatabile), when I only have two; one wireless, one wired.  Under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" it lists USB Root Hub 5 times.  Under "Human Interface Devices" it lists USB Human Interface Device 3 times. The USB devices I have connected currently are a gamepad and the receiver for my wireless logitech keyboard/mouse. Under "Monitors" it lists my Viewsonic g220fb, but then "default monitor" 3 times.  The only other display I have attached is a tv connected to the video out on my geforce 5600 Ultra.  Also, under the "Computer" tab it lists "ACPI Multiprocessor PC", which it should because of the Hyper Threading?
That is the double listings under device manager, which I see as less of a problem.  What seemed more vexing to my techie friend was what was listed under the system information tool.
Using the system information tool, this what I am seeing under "hardware resources". (I hope this is readable =(. it looks better in the text doc).

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] Video stop working if I install Intel Inf update chipset software

    Hi,
     i have big problem    with my MS-6728 (865PE Neo2-S) and Geforce 4 Ti 4200.
After installing Intel inf update for chipset my Windows XP Pro SP1 stop booting and freeze  (if i use Detonator 61 or higher) or just use standart VGA driver (if i use Detonator version 41).
If i remove Intel chipset (i tried all versions) - video is working good
Why Intel Inf update chipet drivers have conflict with my video card ?

    Hi,
i did as You say - remove Windows XP, format my HDD, installed again    Windows XP, installed Intel Inf update - system Ok
install video drivers - freeze and crush.
    Nothing help    ....
I found on this forum that some people have problem with video like me. they talk about bad agp port driver.....
What can i do now ?

  • P35 Platinum - Intel INF Update kills USB ports?

    Hi All,
I've just built a new system and when I ran the Intel INF Update from the driver cd that came with the motherboard it seemed to update everything fine, but when it re-booted the usb ports weren't working in Windows. Unfortunately both my keyboard and mouse are usb so I had no option but to re-install windows again (which wasn't such a big issue because I hadn't installed anything else yet). Should I bother trying to update them again from the latest versions online? Or as everything seems to be working fine as it is, should I just leave them be?

Hello, you need to wait a bit the USB devices to be re-detected.(just wait 1 min after you logon in windows).
If the drivers really broke the USB ports, reboot PC hit "F8" just after BIOS post(before OS booting) and choice "Last good known Configuration" from there. It will restore provisional working state.

  • Intel Inf Update 6.0.0.1014 warning!

    Hi
I tried the new Intel INF Drivers 6.0.0.1014 through the live update on my 865PE Neo2-PFS (bios 3.2) motherboard by using the live update.
The sound when playing games became all messed up!......I´ve trieds reinstalling VGA and sound drivers but its the same.
When reinstalling the old Intel INF Drivers that came with the MSI CD everything is back to normal and sounds are working fine...
Question: Anyvone else having problems with these drivers??????????????
Second issue is that there is the same with the latest core center 1.6.60.......the auto mode for the fan do not work....the fan stays at full rpm all the time.
    The 1.6.5.0 version were fine......
    Question: Any comments???
    / Mr W /

    I can´t find it on http://www.intel.com - chipset d/L.
    Still 5.1.1.1002 there for the 875 / 865 chipset.
MSI surprises by relasing this new INF driver before official Intel D/L.

  • Live Update 3 - Intel INF hangs

I've been having problems with my 865PE Neo2 crashing randomly while running games so I decided to try updating drivers.  One of the weird things I see is WinXP telling me a "serious error" has ocurred and is a "driver failure".
Anyway, I run Live Update 3 and tell it to download the Intel INF file.  It took me a least a dozen attempts to get a full download of the file.  Now that I install it, I get to 60% and the system hangs.   ;(
Fortunately I can reboot the system and it still runs but I have no idea if the Intel INF is the correct version or if it will stop these random crashes.
    Details on the crashes:
I'm running with a 3.0 gHZ processor at stock speed.  I have a gig of GEIL DDR433 memory.  Audio is an Audigy 2, onboard sound is disabled.  Video is an ATI 9800 PRO.  My boot drive is an SATA drive and I also have 3 IDE drives not counting a CD-R and DVD drive.
Crashes occur during LAN or internet gaming with BF1942.  Sometimes the app exits to desktop.  Sometimes I get a sound lockup and have to reset the system.
    Any ideas?

My system specs are listed in my first message at the top of this thread.
I did read through the ReadMe in the install package and I did see something that is rather disturbing.  The instructions lead me through control panel and device manager to list devices by connection.  The names of the devices the ReadMe tells me to look for DO NOT match what I see in my control panel.  I'm definitely looking at the WinXP folder for the INF.
The Readme file says to look for these PCI devices:
    12. Right-click on the line containing the description
                PCI standard host CPU bridge
                -or-
                PCI standard ISA bridge
                -or-
                PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
                -or-
                PCI System Management Bus
                -or-
                Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller
                -or-
Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller
What I'm seeing on my system are lines like
"SMBus Controller" with the chip number at the beginning of the line.  The files LOOKS like the appropriate one but why are the instructions wrong?  ?(
I still tried to follow the ReadMe instructions anyway and burnt the "Disk1" folder to a CD.  I tried to update the driver for my "SMBus Controller" and when it looked at the CD it said it didn't find any drivers there.   X(
MSI, why oh why didn't you include drivers on your CD!   ;(
Any suggestions on how to do the suggested repair?  The INF install doesn't show up in Add/Remove Programs.

  • Identify Intel INF driver version

How do I check my Intel INF driver version? The reason I ask is that in the Device Manager (running Win XP Pro) under system devices, if I choose any of the 'Intel (R)....' devices it says that the driver version is 5.1.1009.
But the MSI liveupdate utility says my current version is the latest version which is reported as being 6.0.1.1002
I know I have the 3.50 BIOS and the latest is 3.0A
It also says I have the latest AC97 drivers and Realtek drivers and I can confirm this by looking at the driver number in device manager for those devices???
I keep getting random reboots but only when booting up (seems to happen when it scans my USB Speedtouch 330) and also sometimes when shutting down or restarting it resets early. Coming back into windows it asks to submit an error report and the report says a device driver caused it. I can't help but think it has something to do with my Speedtouch 330??? (not the speedtouch 330 itself but the USB interface on the motherboard)
    Details in sig.

Look in Program / Intel / Infinst / readme

    Live update 3
Have you checked for latest 330-modem driver / firmware, for best Sp2 compability.
Also set your mem.voltage to 2.7v in bios.
Possible that your PSU is on the limit to power up all your stuff.

  • Intel INF Drivers

    Hi
In MSI'sr site I saw that Intel INF Drivers are supported by win9x (I use WIN98SE).
After  downloading and extracting I read, in the readme.txt file, the following:
One of the following operating systems must be
fully installed and running on the system
        before installing this software:
        Windows* 2000     5.00.2195  (Original Release)
        Windows* XP       5.10.2600  (Original Release)
Windows Server* 2003  5.20.3790  (Original Release)
    Please help,
    Thanks in advance
    xyoavx

    http://developer.intel.com/products/chipsets/index.htm
select the chipset, then select Product support tab, and click Download under Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility, then select the operating system you use
MSI only provide support for Windows XP
EDIT: the download provides drivers for all versions of Windows, so the MSI download will work on W98SE too

  • Intel Inf Driver + Radeon 9700 Pro = Graphic Corruption

    Greetings all,
    Here is the problem:
Upon a fresh install of Windows XP Pro w/ SP1, I immediately installed the Intel Inf Drivers for AGP support.
On reboot, the little motion bar underneath the Windows XP load screen is graphically corrupted.  The monitor would blank out once it tried to activaly go into Windows.  Safe Mode has the same corruption, but the screen would let me boot into 640 x 480 (not sure how many colors though).
I have had the 9700 pro RMA'd and the motherboard (865 PE Neo2 PLS) RMA'd.  I purchased an Emermax 450W Dual Fan PS.  I have tried the video card in another machine (Athlon 64) and it works fine.  ATI Video Drivers have no effect.  As it corrupted on the default drivers included with Windows XP Pro w/ SP1, that's not the issue.  I tried turning off Hyperthreading, Spread Spectrum, loading the failsafe bios defaults, the corruption was still there.
Currently, I have an old GF2 GTS into this machine and it loaded the inf drivers without a hitch.  In this installation, the USB mouse actually stops working and I get a warning that the power has surged to the USB port.
Here's the rest of the equipment:
    Intel P4 2.8E w/ HT.
    MSI MS-6720 i865 PE Neo2 PLS Motherboard
    512 MB PC400 RAM
    Soundblaster Live Value!
    Enermax 450W Dual Fan PS
    Plextor 12x10x32 CDWriter
    LG 52x CDROM
    Osprey 100 Video Capture Card
I'll be posting the same issue on the Intel Forums and ATI forums, along with Rage3D.  I have a feeling it's something to do with ATI's native interface with the AGP slot on the mobo, but I don't know for sure.
    Thoughts?

    In answer to the above,
the problem occurs with both the Omega Drivers, the default ATI drivers and the DNA drivers.
If I don't plug in the molex connecter, the video card will not power up at all and there is a warning to plug it in.

  • GNB MAX FISR Intel inf 4.30.1006 installation

Hi, when I installed my Win2k Advanced Server for the first time I supplied the Intel inf chipsets drivers from the diskette that comes with the board, it was version 4.10.1011
Now I want to install the latest ones (4.30.1006) but when run the installer and then reboot, I go to device manager and I keep seeing version 4.10
How to upgrade to chipset driver 4.30 ???
    anyone experience this ?

This is normal.  The Intel Inf is a utility that installs the most recent drivers.  The version # is the utility #.  The individual drivers are numbered the same as the utility # that version first came with.  If the individual driver is the most current version the number will not change.  As a result when you update some individual driver# will change and some won't

    Hi HarmitClaire,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your MacBook Air is not charging as expected. In this situation there are troubleshooting steps that I would recommend. Please use the attached article as a resource for steps to help you resolve this situation.
Mac notebooks: All about batteries - Apple Support
    My battery is not charging
Confirm the correct wattage AC adapter for the computer. A power adapter rated for a lower wattage than is required for the system may not reliably charge the computer. For assistance identifying the proper adapter, review Intel Based Mac notebooks: Identifying the right power adapter and power cord--US. Additional adapter troubleshooting is available in Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters. If issues persist please reset the SMC.
    Best regards,

  • HELP, Intel Security Update, no reboot, grey screen of death

so I just downloaded the latest intel security update (i dont even remember the nomencalture) and now my revision A 2007 model macbook pro will not reboot.
It stays on the grey screen with the grey pinwheel.
I reset the PRAM, and nothing.
I took the battery out and held down the power button, and nothing.
so i put in Disc 1 of the instal disc, and started the reinstall process, but stopped because I was not sure if this would format the drive and i would lose everything. So i manually shut down the MBP, and now the I cannot eject the disc.
and it still stalls on the grey screen of death.
    please help !
    sincerely loneshark2000

    did that, too !
was able to get to Disk Utility, Verified the disk, Repaired the disk (no repairs were needed)
went to Start Up Disk, selected the hard drive, restarted, and still she gets stuck on the grey screen.
just got off the phone with mac support. and they recommended target disk mode to grab some of my necessary files. then to conduct a fresh install of the OS X, using archive and install. preserving user settings.
so i guess im off to the store to get a 6 pin to 6 pin.
ugh, what a dilema ! thanks for the reply Sig.

  • MSI GX640 Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN dropping connection every ~10 minutes

Problem: Getting disconnected every 5-20 minutes. Network card: Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN.
Solutions tried: Router restarted? No idea what to do, googling it yielded no viable results, even though I can't say I'm pro at googling. Found no drivers on MSI homepage.
    MSI GX640
    Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN
    Further information:
My MSI GX640 had problems with heating and was sent to be repaired and got its heatzink switched. I started getting disconnects every 10 minutes or so, sometimes less than a minute apart, sometimes up to 20 minutes without a disconnection.
Don't really know what information you might need, so please do tell if something is missing.

Those are not the newest: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=nbdriver&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1998
You'll get the newest at:  http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/detect.htm - click the check buttom and follow steps. <- These are from 18-10-2010
But yeah you'll might need to change which wireless channels you are on. If you aren't using Wireless connection then you might have to check your LAN card drivers or this can allso be caused by your ISP or bad connection on your internet line.

  • [SOLVED]Can the Intel microcode update(/non-update) brick my computer?

This news sounds quite scary to me. The big question is if anything I do can brick my computer.
Does doing this on kernels < 3.17.2 brick my computer?
Will upgrading to 3.17.2 without doing this brick my computer?

    Hi,
I have a rather silly question. I can't figure out if I have Intel microcode updates enabled. I have installed the intel-ucode package from [extra] (extra/intel-ucode 20140624-1), and I get this when I check dmesg:

My question is, did the microcode update work? And should I add it to mkinitcpio to trigger it early? (sudo modprobe microcode doesn't change the output above).
