MSI MB/Video Card conflict

** Purchased Bundle **
MB: MSI 760GM-P34 (FX)
CPU: AMD FX 4130 - 4 Core - 3.8 GHz
Memory: Kingston 8GB DDR3 - 1600
Video: MSI R4350-MD1GD3H/LP - PCIe
** To go with **
PSU: 450 Watt
HD: 500 GB
OS: Vista 32 Bit
Rebuild was a breeze.
Booted and installed motherboard drivers, no problems.
Rebooted and tried to install graphics card drivers.
The MSI motherboard does not recognize the MSI video card. So the proper drivers will not install.
Device Manager shows:
Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor
Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks, but, I have the driver disk that came with the card. It just won't install properly.
Driver installation from the disk fails (No supported device found).
Driver update in Device Manager says (Driver is up to date). Yes, for a standard vga graphics adaptor. Not what I need.
I presume Device Manager is suppose to display the name of the Video Adaptor, but it doesn't.
This leads me to believe that the motherboard does not recognize the video card for some reason.

  • MSI 4670 Video Card and NVIDIA/ATI drivers on K8NGM2-FID

I installed an MSI R4670-2D512 video card yesterday and had a problem with drivers that I'd like to understand better.  What I did was uninstall all the NVIDIA drivers, install the board, install the ATI drivers, and update the ATI drivers (with reboots).  In the end, I had no LAN connection, and XP's hardware warnings (and Device Manager) showed no "Other PCI Bridge," "SM Bus Control," and "Video Controller."  Reinstalling drivers from the motherboard's CD got all those going again, but I'm wondering if that's created any underlying NVIDIA/ATI conflicts.  I've disabled GeForce 6150 under Display Adapters, leaving the 4670.  That covers the video controller, but should I do the same for the other two?  And should I have even needed any of the three?  Thanks.

    Show us what you mean.
Actually, I misspoke: video controller and Display Adapters were in different categories.  What do you want to see?  Under Display Adapters, both the ATI 4670 and GeForce 6150 are listed.  I disabled the latter (right click, disable), so there's a red X through it now.  The three yellow '?' that were under Device Mgr > "Other Devices" are no longer there.  They were listed at the time under "Other Devices," but once those motherboard CD's drivers were reloaded they dispersed to other locations with new names and the Other Devices category disappeared.  I'm guessing one of those three is now called the "NVidia NForce Networking Controller," since when the problem arose there was only a "1394 Net Adapter" under Network Adapters.  I couldn't find the other two, hence I wouldn't know what to show you.

  • Why do MSI's video card fans always give me trouble?

I just booted the new system and the MSI Ti4200 8x fan is squawking like a banshee.  X(
The G4MX440 I bought a while back did the same thing after only a few days and now this one is the same. I think it's time for MSI to find a new fan supplier.  :(
Now what do I do? I hate to send the video card back and wait a week until I get another one.

Thanks TBT. I wish I would have ordered two of these PC Toys IceChip VGA chip cooling kits when I bought the one I put on the G4MX440. In fact I may take it out of the MX440 and put it on the Ti4200 card.

Are you currently using the MX440? If not put it in for right now. And mod your Ti4200 later. No sense in possibly ruining a decent backup! Those PC Toys heatsink kits, they sell them here in Cincinnati at CompUSA and Microcenter.I want one.BTW I did get my MSI Ti4200 card Tuesday!I love it. Haven't used any of the games yet.

  • After installing MSI GTX980 Video Card PC won't shutdown completely (Windows 7 S

    Hi all,
I'm posting this here because it started post video card install.
After installing a new MSI GTX980 Gaming video card install into my Windows 7 PC it won't shut down completely, monitor and keyboards all turn off but fans keep spinning and LED light on  vid card also remains on.
It's also happening in safe mode, it also won't shut down from login screen, a Restart however works fine.
Didn't have problem with previous card EVGA GTX780.
Motherboard is a Z77 AsRock Extreme 9 with latest bios (1.90).
Have reset Bios to defaults and updated Windows
    Using latest Nvidia Drivers 344.16
Unfortunately can't test with other card as I no longer have it.
Given it's happening in SafeMode I'm inclined to think it more hardware related then software.
Not sure what else to try.
Other than the above the new video card has been running flawless.
    Thanks

Thanks for reply it appears the problem isn't related to new card thankfully as I tried another vid card and onboard vid and problem persisted.
Sleep doesn't work either, actually both the sleep and hibernate options are greyed out in Windows.
I scanned PC for malware and restored it to last know working point, no idea whats happened but I suppose I won't know outright if its software or hardware without a clean install.
    Specs:
    AsRock Z77 Extreme 9 motherboard
    Corsair HX PSU
    MSI GTX980 Gaming Vid card
    OSZ 256 SSD
    8GB RAM 2133Mhz

Did you try to unplug your video card and see if the problem remains? Does sleep(S3) mode work fine? What's your specs?

  • Msi r6450 video card won't work

just received a new video card and for whatever reason, my pc won't see it.  it's the msi r6450 md1gd3 card.
I've got an older gateway desktop with 1pci express slot.
as near as I can tell, the mb is a c51pvgm.  it's a model 5220 gateway machine using an amd athlon x2 chip 3800+. it has nvidea onboard 6150le processor.  using winxp sp2.
bios is set to recognize the pciexpress slot first.  fan comes on within the card but it is not being recognized in the device manager.
    thoughts?
    Thanks

We can't support Gateway machines but just MSI stuff. Make sure it is not PCI-E 1.x as a six series Radeon and later PCI-E 2.1 and above card wouldn't work then. To be sure the vga is working test it in another machine

    Yep, already saw in FAQ
Aha, wasn't aware that there is such FAQ
    Just checked and noted:
    http://www.msi.com/service/faq/672.html
Q: Why is it that when I press the TURBO button the system does not overclock, instead a screen will pop up for user-defined key set-up?
A: The scenario you encountered is normal since this model doesn’t support overclock function. Note: When the TURBO LED turns blue, it indicates that the system is under heavy loading thus system automatically switches to Nvidia dedicated graphics usage. On the other hand, when the TURBO button is pressed and user-defined key shows up, the blue light will turn off.
So there is minor difference in what i said, its open user defined key configuration when Turbo is pressed and not 3Dmark page.
Seems this is the minor difference between GE60 and GE70 Series.
Noted that GE60 don't have P1 button, which seems Turbo button is assigned to this function instead.
    http://www.msi.com/service/faq/673.html
Q: When I press the TURBO button the system will not overclock, instead I will be redirected to the 3D Mark website, is this normal?

  • K8N neo4 platinum /sli & msi 6800gt video card problem.... urgent help!!!!

I simply can't get the video card to work in the firts PCI-E port, however if the card is in the second port it works fine without the D-bracket locking the PC. Does someone know why this happened?, is the motherboard damaged?, or is there a solution to this problem?
Note: D-bracket is indicating a Memory detection test problem, but as
I said if the Video card is in the second PCI-e port the PC works fine
Plase help does someone knows why this is happening?

Could you add the list of your components to your signature (e.g. power suppy, memory, etc).
I am assuming that the SLI connector card is firmly in place and set for non-SLI operation and
that the video card only works when inserted into the slot that what would normally be used
by a second SLI video card.   Is this correct?
Have you tried resetting your BIOS?

  • Teazers of MSI N465GTX Twin Frozr II Video Card

Just right after testing the reference design MSI N465GTX video card, here just what showed up today. MSI N465GTX Twin Frozr II . I did not expect that MSI had this came out early for retail and was really excited to try it out. Here are some teasers pics.
The box is still the same where you can open up the front cover and see a brief explanation about the Military Components (Hi-c Cap, Solid Chokes & Solid Caps), Super Pipe and MSI Afterburner.
Now for the package bundle, you have:
•Manuals and Software CD which includes drivers and some utilities
    •2x 4pin to 6pin power connectors
•Monitor adapters such as DVI to HDMI, DVI to VGA and Display port to HDMI
MSI done a great job here putting MSI logo and Twin Frozr II name on the top side of the card. Once installed in your rig. MSI name can be easily see
I never get tired looking at the Twin Frozr II cooler. Great job here MSI. Thick heatpipes!!! The Best!!!!
Rear ports. Two DVI connectors and one display port.
Upon testing the card. I overclocked it right away and tried a higher OC than the reference MSI N465GTX that I just previously posted here. The Twin Frozr II version was able to perform at a speed of 880MHZ core/ 1900MHZ mems and it was still stable. If I just have more time testing the card I think this can go as high as 900mhz for the core and maybe 2000mhz for the mems.

I've been quite fond of the Twin Frozr since I got it on my N260GTX OCSP.
Varti, do you mean a case badge? I haven't seen one from MSI since I got one with my TV@+ several years ago.

  • USB Ports and AGP Video Card on same IRQ

I've got a tough one.  I have 6 USB ports.  Call them 1,2,3,4,5,6. Ports 1 and 2 work fine with my new USB 2.0 80GB External Harddrive.  This pair of ports 1 and 2 are direct into motherboard.
However system crashes when I plug USB 2.0 External Drive into ports 3,4,5,6. These are Dports with cables that plug into the MB.  One of these Dports has the four error lights which are all green.  Western Digital has cautioned against sharing this drive with other IRQs.  Says that the video card and the WD harddrive require dedicated IRQs...but I have no control of how W XP assigns them.
Ports #3-6 work fine with mouse,  scanner, and printer etc. However they fail when trying to use WD External Hardrive.
I also checked IRQ settings and IRQ 16 is used for a USB Port and for my MSI AGP video card.  I believe this conflict is the cause of the problem.
So help..how do I fix this dilemma?
I have Windows XP and see no way to change IRQs.
BIOS does not even show IRQ as a choice..only 1-15.  Also BIOS is latests version for my MSI 845G Max L MS-6580 mother Board.  USB drivers are all Intel.  Video Card Is MSI AGP MS-8878 G4Ti/MX 420 w TV out.  Bios and Drivers are current.
How can I run the USB 2.0 External Harddrive in Ports 3-6?

I did load new Intel INF Drivers and AGP drivers yesterday.
No luck USB Ports 3-6 still fail with External Hard Drive.
I'm not clear on how to turn back on AICP or ACIP.  BIOS?
Also not IRQs 16-23 are listed with active devices on the Device Manager
    16 has a USB Controller at 24c2
16 also has AGP video card
    17 has Audio '97
    17 also has Fast Eternet.
18 has USB Controller at 24c7
19 has USB Controller at 24c4
23 has PCI to USB Interface.
Port 3-6 do work fine with mouse, dig cam, Scanner, printer.  These ports only fail with External Harddrive plugged in.  Ports 1and2 work fine with external HD??
So question is how do I check on the IRQ ports using AIPC or APIC...or whatever the name is...thanks folks.

  • MSI Ti4200 128MB card availability

My son's friend is building a system very close to the same as mine and he has most of the parts now that he bought from NewEgg. The problem is that he wants to use the MSI Ti4200 video card that I have but he can't seem to locate one.
Has MSI stopped producing these video cards or is the demand so great that nobody has any? I haven't even been able to locate many of them from Price Watch or other search engines either.
Any ideas where he can get one would be appreciated.

  • HOW TO RUN S/PDIF from MB To VIDEO CARD

I have a MSI MX8600GT Video card that supports sound over HDMI with a DVI to HDMI adapter if you run sound to the card from the MB. Im using a cable I made which will work but I dont want to mess up anything if I plug it up with the wrong polarity. Will it messs up something or not if it is pluged in backwards on the MB. Can it just be reversed if it does not pass sound? The motherboard is a MSI P6N Diamond. The 2 pin spdif plug does not appear to be Keyed in any way on the MB so as to only be able to be pluged in one way. Do I also have to do anything to tell the MB to output sound to this pin on the MB? Thanks for any help with this in advance.

Really shouldn't be a problem, just ensure '-' (gnd) on the MB and card are matched up and the data likewise and that should be all you need to do. I don't know much about sound settings in your Creative onboard audio but you would need to check if there is something extra you need to do to enable digital output.
It's not powered so shouldn't damage anything, it's simply a ground and data connection.
The connection on the card and MB are keyed if you use the factory supplied cable.

I installed an MSI R5450 video card on a new HP desktop with Windows 7(64-bit) and connected to a new Samsung BluRay DVD with an HDMI cable.  The computer screen is duplicated on the Samsung Plasma TV beautifully, but there is no audio.  I have gone to the MSI site and downloaded the drivers  folder

  • K8N Neo2-- IRQ Sharing of Network and Video Card

With the Giga onboard network card enabled it is using the same IRQ as my MSI 6800GT video card (16).  i know that IRQ sharing is "okay" but i also know that the two devices will still have to "take turns" then.  i'd rather not have this.  i disabled my comm ports, sata1/2 ports, paralell ports, and 1394 ports.  many irq's are available.  for the time being i disabled the giga card and i'm using the nvidia card instead as that seems to use its own irq (23).  i could only find one other thread about this and the solution was to use the nvidia card.  i'd rather use the giga card unless someone knows that the nvidia is better.

No cards installed except for the video card.  I am using onboard sound and network.
