MSI MegaPC 651 upgrade advise needed...

hi guys, i new here
I'm planning for upgrading my old MegaPC 651 (major reason: no money... )
i'm thinking of adding another 1gb ram and upgrade my graphic card to 7600GS preparing for window vista. but after browsing through the forum i found quite a number of ppl having problem when adding additional ram and graphic card... just like to get more opinion before my upgrade, suggestion any1?
p/s: my PSU is 250w type, but most of the 7600gs i come across suggest atleast 300w psu, will that be a problem?

I got the system working, and i couldn't figure out what i had done differently. I then installed windows.
I let it run for a few days until i realized that the RAM that was in there was the DDR 400 ram from my other desktop, instead of the DDR 333 that I had intended to use.
I took the DDR400 out, and put the DDR333 in and again.... BEEEEEEP. (8 seconds)
I put the DDR400 back in and still... BEEEEEEP. (8 seconds)
I know neither stick of RAM is bad because they have both been used successfully in my other desktop system upon the first try. Its like the MSI has some sort of connection problem in the memory bank, and I lucked out on one try and got all the connections to line up.
If anyone has any suggestions, please advise, because I'm back to square one again.

MSI MegaPC 651 - System Won't Boot (Long Beep)

When I attempt to power on the PC I recieve a continuous beep signal.
The Beep is approx. 8 seconds long, followed by 5 seconds of silence. The signal keeps repeating itself until I turn off the power.
Obviously, the system is not passing POST so I can't get any video or access the bios.
The cpu is a P4 2.4ghz 533fsb.
The memory is a single 512mb DDR 333 chip.
I've plugged the CPU into a second motherboard and it appears to work fine. I've tested the ram in the second mother board and it appears to work fine.
I tried a stick of DDR400 ram from a known-working system and that did not seem to correct the issue.
One thing I noticed in another similar thread is someone mentioned that i should make sure my CPU fan is plugged in.
~ My Fan is plugged in (came with MSI Barebone), but it doesn't spin. I've tried plugging in the fan that came with my CPU and that one doesn't spin either. My Intel Board that i use for my desktop allows me to boot without a system fan plugged in, I've never heard of a mobo that doesn't. The system isn't even on long enough for the CPU to be over heating.
Please Advise.

Hard drive upgrade advise needed

i have four 750GB drives setup as two RAID 1 sets. one is the boot drive and one set it storage. i want to upgrade to four 2TB in the same config.
what's the quickest, painless way to upgrade and transfer data? i dont want to start from scratch, just transfer user account with all data

Like I said, two backup sets as minimum before anything else, and only then venture into mirror RAID - which I don't think is necessary or great idea.
RAID0 for performance, and first cover all bases with backups.
Backup.
Pull the mirror set and keep off line - SAFE!
Create new RAID (if you must)
Test each drive first by itself.
Then test the array.
Then clone/restore from your backup.
You SHOULD have an external drive set, maybe Sonnet E4P and dual drive case.

problem is that the laptop won't boot(only power button lit on and the fan spins).Do i need a modified bios?

I also bought 1 from ebay last month and when I put it on my gt60, it instantly booted. No problem during installation. i just removed the gpu bracket at the back and all is well.. The card is a beast and you must tame it's heat though.. anyways I hope you solved your problem too.

Have you moved or renamed your Aperture 3 version? If it is not installed in the "Applications" folder or not named simply "Aperture", then Software Update will not recognize it.
Put Aperture back and "Software Update" should find your version.

I had two laptops stolen and the reinstall is a real pain. This also applies to reformats and changeovers to Windows 7, etcetera.

Windows 7? Then don't waste your life minutes fumbling with an Acrobat 8 - Windows 7 combination.
If you are to be using Win 7 you'll need the current release of Acrobat (XI). "X" will function but it is no longer marketed by Adobe.

MSI MegaPC 865 PRO Troubles...

Hello All from Oztralia!
I am having some troubles with a MSI MegaPC 865 PRO, that I'm setting up for our showroom. Essentially, what I assume to be the InstantOn Fancy LED stuff isn't happening. I press the A/V Button on the front, the MegaPC beeps once, the MEGA logo comes up, and then it beeps again. From there, nothing happens. The Volume bar on the LED panel scrolls from side to side, but that's it. Putting an Audio CD or DVD yeilds nothing either.
Other than that, the system seems to go like a train in PC mode.
It's Specs are:
Intel P4 3.0 GHz
1x Amicroe 512MB DDR 400Mhz RAM
The MSI TV Tuner Card (Philips Decoder(?), Conexant Chipset)
Onboard Video, Sound, Network, Modem, Etc.
If anyone can help us out with this Fancy LED thingo, I would be in your debt. Because, it kinda bites when something billed as being this fantastic thing doesn't work properly, customers kinda lose interest. Thanks in advance!

I followed the destructions straight from the MSI Software Guide. I installed the InstantOn software on a fresh 200 Gig SATA, then installed XP Home SP2.
As for installing MCE, I would, but my boss would like to see the MSI box working like it's meant to, as in the A/V button working and everything. I think I'll use MCE for the next one though.

MODIFICATION: Oh, and the TV card came with the MSI as an option. Surely it would work, otherwise why ship it as an option? Where can I find out if it's compatible?

Poor sound on a MSI MEGA 651 with realtek acl650

I am trying to bulid a MCE pc on a MSI MEGA 651.
I am having problems with the sound.
I have download the latest drivers from Realtek and even thought my MSI is producing terible sound when connected to my HIFI appliance.
Added to that my rear right speaker is too low.
I am using the analog 5.1 outputs from the box.
Any proposals ?

What xmad is trying to get as information is the 'complete' name of the mainboard. Z87m is not good enough. Also, more information about the other systems components including specifics of the RAM, brand, rated speed, and the PSU brand and description. For now, test with just a single RAM stick.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.

Why doesn't FFox alert user when flashplayer upgrade is needed?

I watch news video every morning using FFox. Today the video displayed as a blank white space. I switched to IE7 and received an error message that flash player upgrade was needed. After I downloaded the upgrade with IE7 the video played fine on FFox. Why no error message from FF?
