Sorry, could someone please post a link to the 7046 driver link, MSI's interface is a bit confusing, and having a hard time navigating. Im looking for the audio and ethernet drivers. Thanks in advance.

You would need to Google for the drivers from the chipset makers or the OEM manufacturer that made the PC.
If it helps any: LAN -  VIA® VT6105L LAN Controller, Audio - Azalia link controller integrated in Intel® ICH6 chipset. 8-channel audio codec CMedia CMI9880L.

  • Unobxing MSI's Z87M Gaming MATX Motherboard

Another inclusion in MSI Gaming Segment is this Micro-ATX Z87M Gaming motherboard .This is the first gaming MATX from MSI and is packed with great features with affordable price.
Starting with the packaging, you have the Black and Red color theme with the Dragoon Army Emblem. You can also see on the upper right portion of the box is the recommendation from the popular professional gaming team Fnatic. MSI collaborated with them to fine tune their motherboards for the Gamer’s needs.
At the other side of the box, main features of the board are breakdown and briefly explained. Basic specifications are also stated

The board’s layout is clean and thoroughly planned. Military Class 4 Components are all over the place making the board efficient, stable and sturdy. The heatsinks on top is a combination of ceramic, flat heatpipe and aluminum while the bottom heatsink is made up of aluminum and a MSI label with white LED. There is also no mSATA port for this model as it is limited in space.
On the upper right corner of the board are the OC Genie (Automatic Overclock) Button, Power and Reset Buttons and debug/temperature LED indicator.
As you can see the Z87M Gaming is capable of doing Multi-Graphic Card configurations, either be it SLI or AMD Crossfire.
Next we move on with the Audio boost technology of the board. It utilizes the Realtek ALC1150 audio chip, 0PA1652 amplifier and Audio capacitors to give the user the best audio experience. The Audio Boost label you see there actually lits up and serves an EMI shield for the ALC1150. MSI also isolated this part of the PCB from the rest to have the cleanest signal and crystal clear audio output to the Gold Plated Audio ports.
See the transparent lining trace on the PCB? Underneath them are white LED lights which emit a glow effect when the board is up and running.
SATA ports are bended for better cable management and you don’t have to worry of long video cards that might hit the SATA cables.
Handful of connectivity options you have here for the Z87M Gaming
    • PS2 Combo port which automatically detects if a mice or keyboard is connected
    • 2x USB 2.0 Ports and 6x USB 3.0 Ports

And then you said that sensor is close to CPU so temps will be simillar to core/package temperatures. Well, if it is I guess it's normal. Hard to keep that CPU running under 70 degrees though. Under normal use like games or archivization in WinRAR temps never go so high, only in torture test.
Is that dangerous for the motherboard if temperatures are too high? Could it get damaged? I mean temperatures like 80+ degrees.
What's your Core / TMPIN3 / PECI temps with the CPU running at stock settings (4 GHz)?
What's your Core / TMPIN3 / PECI temps with the CPU running in Turbo mode (4.4 GHz)?
If they are OK, you don't have any issue.

  • MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum motherboard extra firewire ports?

I'm installing an MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum motherboard into my case and although I don't need them right now, I would like to be able to access the extra firewire ports. Does anyone know the best way to get ahold of the MSI motherboard 1394 connectors for J1394_1 / J1394_2 option?
I have the D bracket with the LED's and two extra USB connectors but I don't have the firewire connector. I have USB ports and audio ports on the front of my case which I will use, but no firewire connector, but there is a place for one, just no connector/wires or hardware. Also what is the difference between those two connectors shown in the picture of the optional firewire that appears in the owners manual? They have a different shape.
Where can I get one? I don't need the proprietary peice if I can use something else.

Fireware ports are faster for example external drives will be fastest 1394 rather than usb2.
there are many companies doing drive bays which can add ports to your current case see Front Port Extension Unit however you need to decide what exactly you want,
The example shown passes through case & connects to rear ports.
I prefer ones hich connect to the mobo risers leaving rear ports free, however you then have the complexity of matching the pin outs so that it works with your system. Remember it's not like tring to boot, you may not get a 2nd chance if you miswire connection. . If you can find them the best connectors are those with single pin leads, where each individual wire has its own plug so that you can match it to the mobo's pin out diagram for the particular port.

  • I am using ALSA and Icecat. When I play any html5 audio/video it works, but the next time i click on another audio/video link I lose sound.

I am using Parabola (a fork of archlinux), Icecat 31.4 and ALSA
Icecat and firefox seem to hold onto the soundcard when I click on a new html5 audio/video link in the same tab. The next video/audio element loses sound. If I wait 10 seconds and click back to the start of the audio/video, the audio returns. I often get cpu spikes for icecat when it happens.
I have tried this with both motherboard and usb sound and I get the same problem. I have disabled extensions (addons) in Icecat, deleted profiles, reinstalled the browser and even installed firefox from the AUR and it still occurs.
I have disable gstreamer in about:config and restarted and it still occurs.
    My .asoundrc is this:
    pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "hw:0,0"
All my other audio applications work. I have noticed that if I use pulseaudio it fixes it, but it should work without anyway, like it used to. I think something happened after an update, but I'm not sure.
Any help would be appreciated. I know it's not a big problem, but it's really frustrating and I've had it for ages. I even switched browsers to get away from it.

  • SL500 - ethernet link light always on

Wondering if anyone else has/is having a problem with their lappy. The ethernet link light is always on whether or not there is a cable attached or not. This happens with the factory install (XP) or my own Windows 7 install. If I disable the NIC the light goes off, but anytime the NIC is enabled, and the cabled isnt plugged in, the light is on. If I attached a cable to the NIC it doesnt obtain an IP, still stays at the 169.254... The BIOS is the latest ver. and IPCONFIG will show a 169.254.blah.blah address which suggests to me its just stuffed.. anyone else seen this b4??

Turns out after a couple of years of 'not  worrying about it' and using a work around of a USB ethernet adapter.... it turns out the rest of the world has the same issue as me with the SL500 series.. Enabling/forcing 10mb/full duplex, the connection will work.. turn it to auto or anything else.. it fails.. Some have reported problems with work on battery but plugging in AC power causes it to fail..  My issue, is that if I set it to auto or 1Gb Auto, and reboot, the ethernet light will stay on not stop, even if there is no cable attached.. This is seen even when sitting at a PXE boot or BIOS screen with no cable atached... If I then reboot into the O.S... set it to 10Mb/Full, and reboot again.. all is well, At that setting even in the BIOS and I disconnect the cable the lights go off (as you would expect)..
I have seen dozens upon dozens of posts over the net about the exact same issue (it just took a long time to find what the hell I was chasing, and enough time to care to find out too).. But it seems theres issues with the capacitors on the motherboard for the particular NIC for this machine.. AND.. as reported by dozens and dozens.. is to replace 1-2 capcitors on the motherboard to resolve.. (but having worked for IBM, before it the 'THINK' range was bought out by Lenovo, the fix is to replace the motherboard entirely..)

  • Customer Equipment for Metro Ethernet Link

    Hi All
It has been some time since I utilised Cisco network kit to provide private circuit point to point connectivity and I wonder if someone could give me a little guidence.
The customer is shortly to implement a new 100Mb Metro Ethernet link to connect two of their branches. They initially intend to use the link for data only traffic but eventually will want to route VOIP traffic across the link so bandwidth management and QoS will be essential components. It is unlikely that further links will be added to this link so built in expansion of the chosen routers may not be required.
Budget will be an issue on this so I would appreciate any advice or recomendations.
    Thanks
    J.

    Hello James,
I think it would be better to get in touch with your Cisco Account Team as this question cannot be answered on a forum post.
    Thanks,

  • Windows host cannot establish Ethernet link to Arch Router

    This is a weird problem.
I have a Windows host about 20 meters away from my Arch Router, the Ethernet cable goes into the wall, with wall sockets, so it's a total of 3 cables (1 in wall, 1 @ router, 1 @ host). I've tested the Ethernet cables with a LAN tester, they are all fine. When I connect the host to a Linksys router using the same cables, an IP address is obtained and the link is up and running.
But when I connect the host to my Arch Router (an Arch computer with some network cards), no ethernet link at all is detected. No lights on the ethernet card of the host, and ethtool on the router reports the link being down. I have connected my laptop to this ethernet card of the router and it works just fine, I get an IP and I can surf the web etc.
I really have no clue why this other host cannot establish a link. Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

pyther is right. Check for Auto-MDIX support on your network cards.
What network cards are you using?
    Rule of thumb:
Auto-MDIX is a requirement in the Gigabit Ethernet specification, so proper Gigabit capable cards will work 99% of the time whatever cable you use.
Fast Ethernet (100mbit) and below does not have Auto-MDIX in it's specification, so those 9 out of 10 of those cards will not perform it! When connecting these directly to another network card, use a cross-cable.
Also make sure the network cards are in working order. I assume the ArchRouter PC's network runs fine when you connect that to your Linksys router?

  • Monitoring ethernet links

    Hello All,
Is there any other method to monitor ethernet links apart from IP sla and monitoring tunnel.
    Regards,
    Sathvik

I take it you want to verify confirmed end-end reachability of both sides of an Ethernet connection from the router itself. The usual approach is to use an external tools that looks at each end's characteristics and makes a conclusion based on that.
If you want something closer to the absolute truth then IP SLA and tunnel monitoring are good ones. Depending on the platform you may be able to use something like mediatrace as well. You can also leverage embedded event manager (EEM) to give you some insight.

  • FR: Keep Video and Audio clips Linked in Multicam once razored

Here is my feature request, if you agree please cut and paste and submit to feature request!
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature:
Keep Video and Audio cuts in a Multicam sequence linked together when using the razor tool.
How would you like the feature to work?
Whether inside a multicam created sequence, or a multicam sequence that has been pasted into another layer on a separate sequence, I want the video and audio to remain linked together when a cut is made. Currently, when I make a cut, the audio and video become unlinked and I have to first a. make all the razor cuts, then b. go and relink the video and audio clips back together. Takes an extra 30 minutes every time now.
Why is this feature important to you?
To save time and stop the long redundant process of click selecting the video and audio and linking them, over and over and over, in a multicam sequence. Obviously if I can do it manually, it can also be done in-program.

When you create the multicam sequence manually (still the best way, I think), video and audio remain linked.

  • Ethernet Link Status Detection

    Hi,
I am trying to write a program to detect the ethernet link status of an hme/eri ethernet driver.
It is possible to do so using the "ndd -get /dev/hme link_status" command. However, I need
a very efficient inplementation which can accomplish this in a couple of ms.
The ndd man page describes that it uses some ioctl calls to the driver. However, I was not able
to find any specifics of how to make the ioctl call. The /usr/inlcude/sys/hme.h page provides some
#define that may be being used but I still haven't been able to figure out how to make the ioctl
    call.
Previously, I was planning to use the kstat API which has an ifspeed parameter, but my tests
show that this is not updated if the ethernet link goes down.
Any help by providing details of the ioctl call or pointing out some alternative approach will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Pari

I read the link but it still does not explain why the aggregated dual ethernet interface does not show up in the Network tab of the hardware section Lion Server. I was able to see it on the network and looks to be using a single static IP that I assigned. My concern was that is this supported and will it allow for failover and double performance of the single network interface.
    Any thoughts?

  • QoS on metro ethernet links

We recently got a metro ethernet link (45Mbps) between 2 of our offices.
Currently we do not have any QoS services from the provider on this link.
I want to implement QoS over this link. Should i treat this as a normal P2P link and do the QoS or should i also need to ask the SP to do some sort of QoS in their MEN.
Does it really matter to have the SP do QoS as well
Note:- I will be using the link purely as a L3 P2P link
    Thanks in advance
    Narayan

You would need the QOS on the MAN connect as well. Even though you are running a L3 P2P link you are traversing multiple L2 hops.
And where there may be contention by others traffic contending for the resources.
I believe in most cases your SP's 4 to 5 Classes would be good enough. Still you may want to understand his classes and also may want to negotiate the SLA terms.
Once this is taken care you can simply ask him to trust the incoming DSCP on the attachment circuit at his UPE.
You may also have to configure incoming DSCP trust on your Metro-CPE link which connects to you internal core routers.
