MSI motherbaords and Mushkin ram

hi, i ahve an MSI 865-PE Neo-2 LS motherboard (Bios 1.9), and just reciently bought some Mushkin PC3500 LVL 2 512MB ram, but found it dose not run at the garunteed speeds.
i contacyed mushkin about this, and they are willing to replace it with a Muchkin PC4000 Dual channel kit.
now my question, do u guys think it was the chips i got, or is it that MSI board's memory controallers do not play nice with mushkin ram?
ne input would be great.
i should note that i was getting TONES of artifacts in games at stock speeds with the mushkin ram, and was forced to put in my Generic PC2100 ram, and it worked fine.

Mushkin RAM has always had the "Trend" to have thier Modules Clocked with Lower Latency Timings, as a rule....To date I have not read any Posts with any complaints by MSI Members as to whether or not they have had any problems regarding the way Mushkin has any compatability issues with either the i865PE or the i875 MSI Boards, so take the exchange offer that they gave you and have fun.............Sean REILLY875

  • [VIA] MSI-KT4AV and PC3200 RAM

    Hi guys!
I've got an MSI-KT4AV mainboard, an Athlon XP 1800+, and a 512mb 400mhz Pc3200 module. This is the problem: I changed the DDR module from a 512mb 266mhz module to the 512mb 400mhz module; the mainboard has always worked fine with the first type of DDR module, but with the second one, the PC doesn't boot up. I try to change the memory but there is the problem yet. I try also the DDR Module 400mhz on another MSI Mainboard and that mobo function but not the MSI-KT4AV!!!!!   I'm sure that this mobo support the DDR Module 400mhz but I don't know why the system doesn't boot up. Another important thing: when I press the power button to switch on the PC, the Display is totally black with no signal but I can clearly hear 3 beeps from the motherboard: BEEP BEEP BEEP silence BEEP BEEP BEEP silence BEEP BEEP BEEP and so on....
    Can anyone help me?
Thank you so much for Your reply....

Did you try clearing your CMOS?  Look in your mobo manual if you don't know how.  That should fix it. :D.
If it still doesnt, put your old stck of memory back in, go into your bios, and look under Frequency and Voltage.  Look for Memory voltage/vDimm.  Adjust it to 2.7 or 2.8v.  Save settings and exit.  Wait for windows to boot and shutdown.  Then try your new ram again. =D

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR and Mushkin

Does anyone know if the MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR has any issues with Mushkin ram. Specifically, with Mushkin PC3200 2-2-2? I previously had Mushkin PC2100 2-2-2 in it with no issues, but that was on a 266 FSB. On a 400 FSB, there may be issues. I dont know.

I did a little troubleshooting on my own and learned some things. I borrowed my neighbors computer (athlon xp 2600+ (266) on an asus A7N8X-E Deluxe with 2 512 meg sticks of Mushkin PC2100 2-2-2 ram). This computer has a generic 300 watt power supply, so you have to take this into account after seeing the results. First I ran prime95 on his machine and it ran rock solid. I substituted my PC3200 memory in his machine, and first ran it at 266 with no errors. Then I bumped the memory up to 333 and I got an error after 1 hour 17 minutes. Then I bumped the memory up to 400 and couldnt get past 10 minutes without an error.
I then put my proc and his memory in his computer, and my proc ran stable, and I didnt get any of the rebooting that I was getting in my machine. When I put my memory in his machine with my proc, I get about the same results as with his proc.
When I put my proc in my machine with his PC2100 memory, I still got some rebooting. When I substituted my PC3200 memory in, I still got the rebooting.
I then underclocked my processor down from 200 mhz bus to 191, and kept the ratio at 1:1 for memory, and still got some rebooting.
I then changed the ratio to 6:5, so the bus is now 159. The timings are at 5-2-2-2. The computer is running very stable and goes through prime95 with no errors.
I can put my proc and ram in my neighbors computer and get no rebooting, whereas in mine it wont stop rebooting when I have it set to spec. It looks like I have to change my mobo and/or my PSU. My PSU is an Enermax 431 watt and I have never heard of an Enermax going bad. That makes me suspect the mobo a little more, but I dont really know.
I will continue to experiment with bus speeds, ratios, and timings to see if I can get any more out of this system. But at least it is running OK now.

  • MSI 6315 and RAM above 512 Mb

    Hi,
I recently had to have my old pc's motherboard replaced. The old one was an MSI 6199VA and I had 768 Mbyte RAM installed. The manufcturer told me it was impossilble to get a 6199 motherboard as it was too old, so he installed the MSI 6315 one in place. HE says the motherboards are so old they are not manufactured any more, so the 6315 was his best choice.
However, on booting the computer I have seen that it is only able to detect 524 Mbyte out of the 768 I had previously installed. I have read the motherboard manual and I think for the comments there that the 6315 model does not support more than 512 Mbyte. It is however not totally clear to me.
Is this correct ? Does the 6315 motherboard only support 512 Mbyte ? If so, is there any way I can configure it to go over the theoretical limit imposed ?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi
According to the motherboard specs posted on the msi support page, your motherboard will only recognize 512 meg of memory.  I know of no way to make the motherboard see more since it is a chipset issue.  See link below for the spec page where you can get manual and cpu support information.

  • MSI x79-GD65 (8d) RAM issue.

I've just recently bought a new pc. Put it together this week aswell, everything works fine except for the fact that my RAM is not capable of running quad channel. The problem is (as far as I've been able to diagnose it) that the slots to the right of the cpu, that's dimm slots 5-8, aren't working.
After installing all the parts and installing the memory in slots 1, 3, 5 and 7 (the black ones), I noticed that Windows only saw 8GB of ram rather than the full 16GB. I went into my BIOS (not clickbios but startup bios as that allows you to view Memory-Z) and found that it only detected the Ram in slots 1 and 3. I turned off the pc and put the ram in slots 5 and 7 into slots 1 and 3 to check if the ram was faulty. They were detected fine.
I put all of them in again but still no more than 8GB got detected. I swapped all the memory into the blue slots (2, 4, 6, 8). After doing so the computer wouldn't post. I then tried to boot with different ram (2 sticks of 2GB DDR3 1333mhz Mushkin) in slot 1 and 5 (that is 1 one the left and one to the right of the cpu). Only the ram in slot 1 got detected.
I then put the Mushkin in the first two black dimms (1,3) and put all the corsair ram into the blue slots (2, 4, 6, 8). No more than 12GB got detected (which was slots 1-4, 2x2gb and 2x4gb). Memory-Z confirmed that none of the ram in slots 5-8 got detected.
As a desperate last measure I took out the Mushkin ram and put the Corsair ram into slots 1-4. All of the ram got detected but for obvious reasons it was only running dual channel.
I've read on this and other forums that sometimes the cpu socket pins can be bent and that can cause memory problems, I took apart the pc again and looked at the pins, but none of them were missing nor were any bent.
The question now is how can I get quad channel ram working?
    system specs
    Motherboard: MSI x79-GD65 (8D)
    Bios: Version 1.7 (latest version)
    VGA: Gigabyte 670GTX OC
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast TX750M (750 Watt)
CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 (stock speed)
MEM: Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9 (4 sticks of 4gb)
HDD: Corsair Force 3 240GB SSD.
    + 2xSamsung F3 1TB in raid 0, all on the Intel chip.
    COOLER: Corsair H100
    OS: Windows 7 64bit Ultimate

For quad channle you must populate DIMM1, DIMM3, DIMM5, DIMM7 or all slots if using 8 sticks. Populating slots 1-4 has to result in dual channel.
If 1, 3, 5 and 7 won't work there's some different problem that still would indicate bent pin(s).

  • Cannot open msi clock and msi info

hi i am having some small problems with my
mx440-td8x.. when i open the properties for the card i cant open the options msi information and the msi clock. it says: error when the file f:´WINNITsystem32desk.cpl for the controlpanel was opening. what shal i do to fix it?

    Guys,
You could go get the latest nVidia Detonator4 Drivers from the nVidia Website.  Then you can delete the file msicpl.dll from your Windows directory.
    For the extra features:
Use notepad to make a new file and put in it what I quoted below and then save it with the .reg extension.
    Quote
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweak]
    "Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
    "NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableAdditionalInfoPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableClearViewPage"=dword:00000001
Double Click on it and it will make an entry into your registry.
That will open all the extra options in the Detonator4 Drivers including the Core and RAM Speeds for your GF4.
    Take Care,
    Richard

    Thank you ?(

    wyles,
Download and install the latest  nVidia ForceWare Drivers
Delete the file msicpl.dll from your Windows Directory and the problem will go away.
If you want to be able to have the hidden functions, create a file with notepad and put this in it.
    Quote
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
    "Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
    "NvCplEnableHardwarePage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001
Save it as agpsetting.reg to your desktop or anywhere you like. Then run it and it will give you all the hidden options from nVidia which include extra Resolution settings for your desktop and overclocking for both the memory and core.

  • No MSI info and MSI clock speed flags in display properties

My problem is really curious. Several days ago I bought new harddrive and made clear instalation of Win98 SE. After that I installed VIA 4 in 1, on-board audio drivers, the new DirectX and then DetonatorXP drivers for my G4 Ti 4600. My problem is that in display properties I miss two flags descrabing my nVidia card - MSI information and MSI clock. System has detected card correctly. In advanced display properties I can adjust OpenGL and Direct 3D settings, AA settings, etc.
My system is stable in every game and benchmarks, so it means that card works correctly. Powerstrip detects core and memory speeds correctly, under adapter options in this program I see 128 MB video memory, AGP 4x enabled, fastwrites enabled - everything is correct.
But in display properties I do not see MSI information and MSI clock speed flags. Why ??? I have also reinstalled VIA 4 in 1 and Detonator XP drivers - it did not help.
Before byuing my new harddrive (80 GB Seagate,7200rpm) I had 30 GB IBM,5400rpm. Windows 98 SE installed on this harddrive detects card correctly too including MSI information and MSI clock speed flags. Now I miss it. Any idea ???
On both harddrives I have installed DetonatorXP 29.42 then I have updated to 30.82
    My system:
    MSI K7T Turbo 6330 3.0
    1,33 GHz Athlon T-bird
    512 MBRAM
    G4 Ti 4600
    80 GB Seagate BarracudaIV 7200rpm
    Win98 SE

I installed the MSI Drivers from the MSI cd. All ok but the clock and info tabs were missing. I upgraded the driver from msi site to 3000 and no tabs.
     X(
Before the GF4 i had a gf2 and i realized i forgot to uninstall the nvidia drivers before installing the new card's drivers. I uninstalled them and reinstalled the msi driver 3000. But no clock nor info tabs.
Can someone help me? Are those tabs needed?
I'm using xp pro, intel p4 1.8 on motherboard intel d850md, 1gb ram.
Also the 3d turbo experience gives me msivga.ocx initialization error.
    Thanxs.

  • Msi Diamond and four memorycomps - problems?

I have installed four 512Mb ddr566@500 comp's and now when I have used the machine a while, winxp will pop up a blue screen. The machine will restart then (so quickly, that I can't read the errormessage).
    Before I had two 512Mb ddr566@500 comp's, without problems.
Is this board unable to handle four memorycomps, or what might be the problem? I have already ran memorytest succesful. In the manual reads, that when using four comp's, the maxium speed is ddr333? The cpu is Opteron148, with venus core.
Edit. BTW can someone say, is my PSU strong enough to run whole machine. It is Tagan 2force 480W and machine: Msi diamond, 148Op, 2Gb ram, 2x 6800 ultra, 2x hdd, audigy4 pro, 3x 120mm casefan. When I plug two more hdd's, nvidia system will show error, that power is not enough to graphic cards. The manual says, that the mainboard want 450W or more psu.

MSI always have the color code for vdimm.
It's what the vendor of the modules state for nominal voltage that counts .
If they say 2.8 i would run 2.8 or higher (not below) . 0.05 higher to compensate for voltage drops during load.
Double 6800 Ultras (stock clocked) pci-e draws something around 70w from the +12v line each in full 3D mode/load. (in idle 2D mode about 30w each)
Thats almost 6A per card , times two it's 12A just for your graphics in the highest load situation .
I'm not sure though if SLI balances toe load exactly equal , but lets assume so to be sure .
Then atleast 8-10A from +12 goes to your cpu depending on model and if overvolted/overclocked .
And consider apx. 1A +12v usage for each HDD and optical (although the use a bit more at spinup , but then the gfx's are in 2D mode) .
    1A +12v for mobo .
    Fans run off +12v .
Memory runs off +3.3v or +5.0v depending on motherboard design .
Add things up and have a rule of using a load target for the PSU @ 80% (fully loaded PSU's loose efficiancy and stability .
There is some guideline of SLI building and dimensioning of PSU you might wanna check out over at nvidia .

    Help!
I've just install ti4200 128mb.  Everything runs fine, 3d mark even showing 9300+
However, everytime I try to go to the MSI clock and information tab under display properties, I get a Microsoft reporting Error!

    512mb ddr333 ram
    WD 800jb
I think its the motherboard, any ideas?!
    Thanks in advance.

What's all talk about install other drivers ?.
This is old problem if you would check some old threats.
Problem lies in ASUS mobo, nothing can fix this, yet.
If you have ASUS mobo, use 40.41 Nvidia drivers with Coolbit to overclock you want be sorry.
There is nothing in this flips that you miss.
MSI support knows about this problem you can try to send them note, but they will not response.
MSI support is one of the worst I have ever tried.
Like you everthing else runs great.  I would be more unhappy about there is no hardware monitoring for G4ti, I thougt first it was in this flips but they only support it for G4 MX cards.  Don't know whey but I'm very angry and I will never get another MSI card.

    Update Firmware
Please be more specific, what do you mean by Firmware? EC Firmware or BIOS update? Please provide some links to this Firmware, that other may use something from your information.
I have got MSI GX60 3BE and it's the same as yours, but with smaller screen and I am going to upgrade my RAM to:
Kingston HX316LS9IB/8 DDR3L 2x8GB 1600MHz CL9 instead of those Nanya Elixir installed by default. I have got an information from Kingston official support that CL9 and this model of memory modules are excellent choice for GX60 3BE. The other option is Kingston KVR16LS11/8 which is CL11 as Nanya.
Will it be a difference between CL9 and CL11?
    Thank you in advance.
    Sincerely
    Best regards.

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up.  Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests.  But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum.  there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc.

    Brian

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You already have got OS X Mavericks installed (the Keynote, Pages and Numbers versions available in the Mac App Store are only compatible with OS X Mavericks).
You have got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro, which uses a special OS X Mavericks version that is not available in the Mac App Store. This is the reason why the Mac App Store is not compatible with OS X Mavericks even if you are using it. This will be fixed in OS X 10.9.1, when your Mac uses the same Mavericks version as all other Macs.
Until then, you can reinstall OS X through OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
