MSI Mpower Max 4770k Help tweek it

Hi there,
this is my first seriouse MSI board in last 3years and i have encountered few problems with overclock
My Pc Specs are:
Intel 4770k
Corsair H70 with 2xNoctua 14FLX p/p
MSI Mpower Max
Kinston Hyper X DDR3 1600mhz 9-9-9-27 2x4GB
Corsair AX860
Intel SSD 510 250GB
Seagate Barracuda 3TB
Samsung F4 2TB
Corsair 650D
all day passed and i am a bit tired of seeing bios and bsods
i think i got the lazy chip help me understand it better and learn things on the way.
this is most stable i got.
Bios E7815IMS.133
CPU ratio: x44
Ratio: Fixed
Ring: x39
Vcore 1.25v Offset 0.015V
Svid comm. Enabled
from digitall i changed only CPU Vdrop to 100%
Ram set on xmp and manualy entered timings and voltage and speed 1600
With this i pass AIDA 64 stress test for 30min no problem
cinebench pass
when i open Prime95 Blend test 15min pass and bsod..
Temps were 80-85c with room 25c
Everything else in bios is set to default (auto)
Any tips how to tweek it more?
i tried x45 with settings as above i boot into windows pass cinebench but crash on aida64.
i also tryed just x46 with voltage bump up to 1.28v with offset 0.015
I will be deliding as soon as my h220 arrives and CLU.
Also is there some special USB so i can take the screenshots?
i tried all the ports different flashes also formated to FAT32 and NTFS same its saying no usb dongle..
When i put my WD 2TB HDD it recognize it but when i want to save the Screenshot it gives this message
"allocate file system resource fail"
I would post Screanshots but as i mentioned above its annoying problem..
Thanks in advance guys.
Edit:
just to see if i have lazy chip i tryed 1.3v with settings above and x47-48 wont even post.... :(
found flash that is working

ok i tryed this also
Internal VR efficiency management - disabled in screanshots its enabled
with this i am able to make 30mind aida with no crash temps a bit high but can be managed, i boot into windows with this vcore and x45 but unstable during aida 10min bsod
i boosted the voltage to 1.275 with offset 0.015v and got me 20min aida then bsod. any way i can tweek it more?

  • [SOLVED] Configuring SPDIF for MSI Mpower MAX

    Hi people of the Arch,
I would like to play music over SPDIF, while I get no errors, I also get no sound.
I have read the Wiki here Advanced_Linux_Sound_Architecture
Also, I've been Googling and searching here on the forum, I've followed some steps but none seem to 'sound' right.
What I have not done is creating an asoundrc file with my setup, I believe that I can test if it works first, before I create such a file. Like to hear if this is right.
And I should note that I also use regular stereo out and USB headphones.

Usually an indicator a voltage isn't high enough. OC settings don't sound stable. Might open a thread in the OC and Undervolt forum section for help with that. I've stayed away from the DRAM Training (left it as is) and reached 2800 without any trouble. Not all IMC's are going to handle that speed though from what I've been reading. All my benchmarks so far are showing RAM speed above 1600 adds little performance value.

  • MSI MPower Max problem

    Hello
I recently purchased an Z87 MPower Max and it came present with BIOS v1.1. According to the CPU sheet on the website it wasn't recommended to use that with a 4770K so I flashed 1.0 back on since 1.1 only boots with stock settings. Now I have this annoying problem of getting a BSOD every time I boot the computer for the first time.
What happens is that it will make it past the start orbs and I see the mouse with a black background and then it BSODs. The computer restarts again and then boots properly.
    These are my settings:
    CPU Ratio Mode - Dynamic
    Adjust CPU Ratio - 42
    EIST and Turbo boost -enabled
Adjusted Ring ratio - auto (39x)
    Adjusted Ring Frequency - 3900Mhz
    DRAM Reference Clock - Auto
    DRAM Frequency - Auto
    XMP - profile 2 (2400Mhz)
    DRAM Timing Mode - Auto
    Memory Fast boot - auto
    VCCIN Voltags - 1.900V
CPU Core Voltage Mode - Adaptive
    CPU Core Voltage - 1.165
CPU Core Offset mode is -
CPU Core Voltage Offset - 0.005
Is it something to do with this DRAM training? I was told to disable it but I'm not sure how to. Can someone help me?
I have verified 4.2Ghz stable with 2400Mhz RAM with AIDA64 and Prime95 when using fixed 1.15V and used AIDA64 CPU only for adaptive checking.
    I have this RAM: F3-2400C10D-8GTX - its Gskill 2400Mhz DDR3 Trident X ram

  • Z97 Mpower Max AC Help!!!!

I have done everything and cannot figure out  whats going on. I received my new MSI z97 Mpower Max AC board today everythign is running great except I cannot get my 2 of my hard drives in RAID!!!! They are both have been formatted. Everytime I choose RAID mode in the bios. I cant get to windows, every time it goes into preparing automatic repair over and over and over. My main drive wich is a SSD has windows on it,  the 2 drives I am trying to get working in RAID are both WD 500gb. If I go back into bios and choose AHCI everything is fine but the 2 drives are just 2 normal 500GB drives. The SSD is also set to first boot any ideas???? I know the drives are fine, they worked fine on the old board I took out today, here are some pics below:

Quote from: WarGasimXD on 14-January-15, 11:58:25
I get them on the stock bios, the 1.60 bios and the one you had me download. I noticed it when I first installed the board on the first start up just did not really pay attention to it. Im still having issues with trying to run RAID. It only happens when I run RAID. I tried different SATA ports and no luck. Also everytime I start the PC I have to change my mouse and keyboard to different USB ports. Its like every time I restart the USB port they were in stops working so I have to put it in another one etc....
etc you have this issue A2 error with both 1.60 & 1.80?
How did you flashed to .180? do you follow the flash methods which include ME flash too?
have you done >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed after the update?

  • MSI MPOWER MAX Z87 - RAID failure after BIOS update (settings reset)

I use the integrated intel RAID controller to create a 2 disk RAID-0 6TB (2x3TB), but everytime I update the BIOS, there is a RAID failure.
It does not matter if I use Live Update or the Update BIOS+ME option of the BIOS menu. All settings are lost, and after the boot the RAID controller is deactivated due to that. I go to BIOS right after the auto-reboot and re-enter my settings (RAID instead of AHCI), but the intel controller only sees 1 disk as a RAID member. Recovery option is not active when I enter the controller options (control+I). I always need to delete and recreate the RAID, which of course loses all data.
    Very frustrating!
Am I doing the update wrong? I know I did it once and settings were not reset, my RAID was kept intact, but I believe it was only 1 time of 4 or 5 updates I did to my MPOWER MAX.

Hi, thanks for trying to help!
    - I use Windows 8.1.
    - My vga does not support UEFI so I use... legacy mode? (I'm not that familiar with BIOS->UEFI yet, sorry.)
    - According to Intel RST, the RAID HDDs are on ports 2 and 3.
    - This time the update was from 1.80 to 1.90.
1.70 to 1.80 also resulted in the same problem, but I used LiveUpdate.
For previous updates, I don't remember but I sometimes I used LiveUpdate, sometimes the BIOS feature.
I'm pretty sure that only once the RAID was kept intact, and I don't remember the versions or method I used, but I believe I used the BIOS method (don't know if needed BIOS+ME or not), not LiveUpdate.

  • MSI Z87 MPower MAX LN2 help

Went cold today on this mb and had no luck still learning haswell
But was able to get 5.2-5.3 4c8t 5.5 2c2t on ss but for some reason can't even get 5.4 4c8t to post on ln2
Never used a msi mb before so not sure what to do with all the settings and power settings...
Also was told it also has a ln2 jumper but doesn't seem to unlock anything in the bios or help with ocing
So if anyone wants to share some ln2 settings that would be great going to try again tomorrow

You might send him an e-mail, but he used ES CPU and maybe even modded BIOS and mainboard.

Not going to get much with help here at this forum with exotic OC'ing. Most that come here just want their machines to work stock/auto/default, or an everyday sustainable OC within normal published limitations. Might try OC clubs, HBot, Extreme Systems, or places like that.

  • Z87 msi mpower big problem help me please auto turn off and never boot

i had bought msi z87 mpower from amazon 2 weeks ago while trying to open it, it just turn on and leds light up but no beep/ no display= no signal , i tried to take it out of case the same problem tried it with 1 stick of ram g-skill 1600 mhz 4g same problem i removed the vga card same problem i removed the ram , the motherboard didn't recognize it and power on led on but no beep nothing debug led all the time 00 , with cpu i5 4690k only some people told me , mobo didn't recognize the cpu because it's haswell refresh need update for bios , but how when i can't see any screen and it can't even boot just fan spin and leds light up nothing else , i sent it to some msi technical support in egypt to try to make bios for it , he told me he could bot it and update it from windows normally without any problem and he sent it back to me , while i took it to try at my home with my cpu the same problem motherboard didn't recognize my cpu , i had connected everything and as well wifi card with the pin and the 4 kits of 16 giga ram trying to power on same problem i did 1 restart and the motherboard never turns on again like dead
i get it out the case and removed everything except wifi card same problem no power i just removed the wifi card it turns on for 1 second the turn off automatically i connect it again, and mobo don't turn on again i just release this pin of wifi card out of mobo the leds turn on like if the pin of wifi card shorting the motherboard i don't know why i removed it at all and try to turn on the motherboard light up and fans works for 1 sec then turn off automatically like the motherboard shut down it self for safety i try to connect the vga card only with 1 ram and cpu but the motherboard don't turn on at all , so motherboard only turn on now with 1 ram and cpu just turn on for 1 sec and then off if i connect anything more it will not turn on at all same problem with other power supply i sent it back to technical shop they said it's just bios corrupted and nothing bad but they told me they can't make it because bios files on msi site doesn't work for some reason and they want to give me it back like that turn on/ off immediately what could i do , did they make something bad when i sent it to them at start because it was turn on normally and when i try it just 1 restart and full fail to power after that and they admit , they had work through it to windows and make normal bios update so what would be the issue , i feel like if wifi card made some short to the motherboard with it's pin or the bios failed ot recognize wifi card and failed after 1 restart i don't know where to start or what to do psu good cpu good ram is good tested what could make some motherboard no turn on , as well i have removed the battery for 5 minutes and try with it and i made clear cmos button still same and they said they didn't touch motherboard while making bios

okay tomorrow i will try another processor chip but what if doesn't work , same here i suspect it's bios so what could let some motherboard turn on and off immediately?
Bad CPU? bad Motherboard? Other stuff.
The only way to know is testing parts.
You said it already worked with another CPU. Did you check CPU socket pins?

  • Msi MPower MAX AC Power Saver Question

In the msi bios how do you enable the power saving feature so when the pc is idle or under light load it throttles down to 1.6 ghz.I am using offset now 4.7 with +35 offset for 1.264volts.Any help appreciated.

i think he wanted freq. to drop when the CPU is in idle
if this is correct you need to enable  "EIST" and "C-State" states
also you can try switching within windows power profile to "Balanced"
[in some machines when its set to high performance this prevent CPU freq. throttling at idle]

Hi everyone! I apologise in advance for my poor English.
I was very pleased with my new PC (and also with the motherboard!) until command center made me upgrade to ver. 1.0.0.59. Every time I open it I get this error message and sometimes (1 on 4 sessions) it significantly lowers CPU's clock.
The part in Italian says: " It's impossible to find part of the directory ...... \LU5_LMU.xml"
How would you fix it? Should I reinstall the previous version and, in that case, where can I download it from?

  • MSI Mpower Max and Team Group LV 2400 Memory (Samsung)

Bios 1.31b is fine, but afterwards seems to have a problem with my memory modules, even at XMP settings they are difficult to boot. I am pretty sure it is related to a single value called tWR. For some reason the tWR value in the later bios are limited to be adjusted between 0 and 16. My modules need it to be 18 to boot at XMP.
I really want those later bioses, because of the faster PWM and the Legacy optimizing for benching. Please tell me where to post these to get my memory modules working.

  • Z87 MSI Mpower Max Adaptive vcore not working properly?

Hi, first time MSI MB user here.
After I finished tweaking my OC settings, I changed the vcore voltage from fixed to adaptive mode, since that is said to lower the idle temps.
However, it doesn't seem to work in the way that I thought it would.
Vcore voltage stays at the same value regardless of whether the CPU is idle or under load.  I thought it would lower itself when the CPU is idle.
    Am I misunderstanding something here?
Voltage check done by AIDA64 and CPU-Z 1.64.3
    Below are my bios settings:
    BIOS ver. 1.1
    CPU Ratio Mode - Dynamic
    Adjust CPU Ratio - 45
    EIST and Turbo boost -enabled
Adjusted Ring ratio - auto (39x)
    Adjusted Ring Frequency - 3900Mhz
    VCCIN Voltags - 1.95V
CPU Core Voltage Mode - Adaptive
    CPU Core Voltage - 1.25

Once the CPU V. is taken out of auto and set manually, the voltage isn't going to drop at idle.
